"Taco Heads in the Cultural District boasts that their margarita is the best in Texas, and we’d have to agree. It’s the perfect drink to sip on their covered patio, situated between the restaurant and cantina, especially on Mondays (when margaritas are $5). When it comes to tacos here, the simpler the better. Our standing order is the Mama Castillo’s chicken taco and a carnitas taco (add grilled jalapeño), alongside their sweetcorn chips and guac." - emily smith

"What opened as a trailer stationed on West 7th Street in Fort Worth in 2010 eventually rolled into a permanent location thanks to the dedicated, ravenous fans of Taco Heads breakfast tacos, including the A La Texicana—a substantial package of eggs, caramelized onions, thick, crispy bacon and aged cheddar—and such signature options like the seasonal fish taco, which gets a chimichurri pesto bath and toppings of pickled slaw, garlic aioli, crumbled queso fresco and a healthy does of onion and cilantro. Feeling indecisive? The chipotle brisket is always a killer choice." - José R. Ralat

This place was overall great!! The wait was more than I would have liked, but the tacos were really good!! Even though it was hot outside, the covered seating area made it worth sitting outside! I live the atmosphere and the food. The drink was quite strong so beware!! Hahaha will be back!! I

Google
Great spot for a casual bite to eat! The seating was mainly outdoors and clean/comfortable. The tacos were promptly served and I highly recommend the brisket tacos. Ended with the churros which were excellent! Servers were attentive and very friendly.

The food is great! There are amazing flavor combos for both meat and vegetarian options. There are plenty of drink options, and I suggest the Pineapple & Jalapeño Margarita. Located in the Cultural District of Down Town Fort Worth. With its indoor and outdoor seating and quick service, it's perfect for a lunch break or a weekend hang.

Great food, and great service! The waiter gave me free queso for waiting to be served (which really wasn’t a long wait at all). Really enjoyed the chips, salsa, and queso. Salsa is on the smoky/mild side, and chips have Tajin sprinkled on them. Had the Crispy beef taco, and blackened chicken. Enjoyed the blackened chicken the most! Weather was perfect for sitting on the outdoor patio area.

9/17/2024: In Town for the Fortnite Competition from 09/05-09/09. On 09/05, we found this place near our AIRBNB. Stopped in for a bite. Started off with the loaded nachos, as well as chips and salsa. They were both laid out on a half sheet pan. We didn't realize it was so much food for the six of us. We had the al-a-carte tacos. You can get them as a plate, which comes with beans and rice. The food and service was great. Very few customers at the time. On 09/07, we returned. We ordered the loaded nachos again with more tacos. This time the service wasn't as good and neither was the food. Many more customers this time around. I guess it all depends on how busy they are at the time. The overall experience was pretty good. Didn't care for the long wait and the cold food on the second time around.

Google
As others have said, the food is more greasy than expected but it is very tasty. The chips and salsa are perfect if you don’t like spicy. The salsa is a great mild with a bold flavor! I got the black bean taco and it was delicious! Be aware that it’s mostly outside seating at this location but it is climate controlled. Heaters and fans. It was very pleasant on a warm day!

Google
Great customer service that made us feel welcomed and catered to our needs with our little one as he was being picky with what he wanted. Got the meal with three tacos and all were delicious. Chips and queso was great and a must is trying the churros with ice cream. We cut them in half and made little churro ice cream sandwiches.

Google
Worst restaurant experience EVER! Waited for over 2 hours for our order on a Sunday when only a few tables were occupied. Had to ask the server several times about when the tacos would be served with her response being soon each time. Watched as the few other tables around us were served with some tables sitting down way after we arrived being served. Finally frustrated and missing out on our day, we tried to ask to pay for the drinks and chips/salsa only and leave but all of a sudden 2 of the 4 taco entrees came out. Albeit, both sides that came with the 2 entrees were as if they just pulled them from the refrigerator- cold. Had to call another waiter over to please get the manager. Waited another 10 minutes and the other 2 entrees showed up. At about the same time the manager finally showed and when we explained how terrible our lunch was going and the amount of time we had waited for cold food he became visibly angry and irritated with us. First he asked what it was we wanted him to do about it. My response was I do not believe I should pay for cold food, how about we just pay for 2 of the 4 entrees, the drinks and chips/salsa. so we can leave? This infuriated him and he started to insult me by making statements such as, "I must have never worked in the food industry before, and how can I be such a bad example to my kids and how I was embarrassing myself for suggesting such a discount" while laughing as if he was a hyena in front of the other tables. It was bizarre! He continued verbally abusing us as we sat there stunned and shocked. One of the boldest comments from him to us is that he doesn't want patrons like us to come to his restaurant as he doesn't need us- as he had 15,000 other patrons just this past month- referring to who knows what (we had just come from church service). Avoid this place like a plague or you too can wait for 2 hours and get insulted by the manager for saying something.

Yelp
We walked over from the Dickies Arena parking lot a little before 5 PM. There was not any seating available inside so we sat outside. The fans and misters help but it was pretty hot. By the time we left, it was standing room only. I checked in on Yelp and got a free Texas Margarita; it was tasty. I ordered the taco plate; one chicken, one beef and one pork. The chicken was my least favorite; the meat was dry. I enjoyed the beans and rice. Service was excellent; the drinks and food came quickly; and my water was filled up when needed.

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Taco Heads is a really cool outdoor patio restaurant on Montgomery Street, directly across from Dickies Arena. They have breakfast tacos all day, Street Tacos, and apps like queso and guacamole. They have Happy Hour from 3pm-6pm. The food is really good and the service is fantastic. I'll definitely go back.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Yeah didn't stay to eat. They sat us down gave us water and no one served us at all we left.

Hollie B.

Yelp
In the true Texan expression, this place "isn't bad". It's a cute, relatively small layout with indoor and outdoor seating that's dog friendly. The ambiance is super chill and makes you want a margarita, or 3! Service is fine, nothing overwhelmingly accommodating, but they're there. We ordered elote, and taco plates with shrimp, pastor, chicken, brisket, and carnitas tacos. The ingredients for the tacos seemed quite fresh, but none of them made me want to chew slowly with my eyes closed while picturing a beach. The best one would probably have it be the shrimp, when I thought it would be the pastor, however, the meat tacos all seemed rather dry, and needed more seasoning. The elote was very good with properly balanced ingredients, but to be honest, my favorite item was the charro beans! Soooo flavorful, and they come on the taco plates with 3 tacos. I wouldn't be against giving this place another shot or even trying the stockyards location. We shall see if it's better next time! I will keep you foodies posted!

Tim C.

Yelp
Nothing from here really was stellar. Also I read just prior to eating our take out meals, that this establishment had not done well with their health inspection earlier this year. The service was so-so in that we had to wait about ten minutes longer than they indicated that the food would be ready.

Angela E.

Yelp
I visited Taco Heads on National Taco Day (Oct 1) and it was a very good experience. I read mixed views, but wanted to try it out anyways. The jalapeño margarita was magnificent and so was the chicken taco topped with pico de gallo, cilantro, etc. I also had the crispy beef + brisket tacos. I normally prefer beef/pork over chicken, but the chicken taco was definitely the star that night. I sat outside. Several groups of people were out there, but their convos didn't interfere with my peace. Super cute seating, fun server.

Joanna T.

Yelp
YUCK!! I don't know how this place is still in business. We decided to give this place a try for the first time and was so grossed out. The place is dirty, the service is awful, and the food is not good. Don't waste your time or money here. I'm surprised it's still operating.

Christopher H.

Yelp
Great location, good food and attentive staff. Outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the night air while celebrating!

Scott F.

Yelp
Great time at Taco Heads. Super casual place. Top shelf margarita was awesome Lived the chicken tacos and the shrimp. Servers nice.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Conveniently located across the street from Dickies Arena. Stoped by before a Pearl Jam concert with hopes of getting a quick bite & some beverages. Wait time for table service/ food was an hour & half, wish they had a grab & go option (especially on a event night). Outside bar credit card machine stoped working after we waited in line for 20 minutes, we went to near by ATM & then the outside bar ran out of beers. So we tried to order drinks inside, bartenders were very overwhelmed. After waiting 20 minutes at bar without being acknowledged we left & headed to arena. If planning on going before an event at Dickies definitely get there 2+ hours before show if interested in eating there.

Amy R.

Yelp
Taco Heads is perfectly located if you are visiting the Dickies Arena, it's just across the street! They have a great patio area with lots of tables, as well as a small indoor bar area where I have never sat, but I think you can. I've tried several of their tacos and I also love that you can choose to get a big salad with all of their taco protein options. Last time I had the pastor meat which was VERY tasty, I've also had the shrimp and liked those too. Guacamole and queso is also delicious! Sometimes things take a little while when it's crowded, and service can be a little hit and miss, but everything has always been delicious here! I look forward to Taco Heads every year when I'm on that side of the Metroplex!

Yelp
Joined some friends for brunch and this place did not disappoint! The margaritas were great, the tacos were flavorful and the service was excellent! Our waiter, Kiel, was amazing! He was funny, prompt, and made us feel welcomed! We will definitely be back! Check out their Baja shrimp tacos and their house margaritas!!!

Ivy C.

Yelp
5 years ago Taco Heads was amazing. Now it's dirty, the food is bland and service is subpar at best. My tacos had no flavor whatsoever and I can't believe how nasty the trail from their kitchen to their dumpster is. Unsanitary for sure.

Peyton F.

Yelp
Food - the elote had no flavor, way too much cheese. Every single taco that came out for us was cold!! They said there was a 30-40 minute wait, but there weren't a lot of people there. Makes you wonder why a place in the stockyards isn't busy on a Saturday night ... Also they ran out of margaritas. How does a taco place run out of margaritas. Also, this was so funny, but the waitress I guess didn't know what Pinot Grigio is, and served the white wine in a highball with a straw. Cracked me up. Service - I've never been here before, and was trying to genuinely ask the hostess a question, and she was so rude. I didn't know if it was counter service or sit down, so I asked (there was a see hostess for table sign posted in an extremely hard to see location, but it's also a super casual looking place so we just didn't know!!) and her response was "yeah this is a restaurant. with food. someone serves you" it was just so rude and uncalled for. Ambiance - cute place, staff seemed extremely unprepared tho.

Lynda M.

Yelp
they opened about eight minutes late and acted offended that we were there early. The flies were out of control. We ate on the patio. We asked for several things that never arrived, for example, salsa. We had to get up and go ask for silverware. The food was definitely subpar and all four of us ladies made the decision to never eat there again. The restaurant was understaffed, and our waiter was overworked. That could be a big part of the problem.

Donald W.

Yelp
Today was hit and miss the carnitas and bourbon beans were good but the rice was left over and undercooked the elote corn was so watery and gross plus the crispy beef taco was stale and waitress was like oh well

Victoria L.

Yelp
We've been there once before and the service was slow. I'm glad we went back a second time because the service was great. Last time, it took us a while to be seated, but this time we were seated right away. The drink service was fast this time too! We got the carnita nachos. The pork was so tender and melt in your mouth. We also got the queso with chorizo and it was delicious. The chips were homemade. We also got elote in a cup and it was reall We went before a concert and it was the perfect location. It was a relaxed environment. It was outside. Then it started to rain but they did have stuff to block out the rain, so we didn't get wet at all! We will for sure be back!

Andy M.

Yelp
This was my first visit to this establishment and it was on a whim, and I can honestly say it was amazing. the service by Morgan was by far the best experience I've ever had. Johnny the bartender not only made the best drinks but gave such a personable inviting service that the best time I'm in this area I will definitely come back. Is what I'm writing about you guys I know you're awesome too so I got you love you guys oh no Area

TJ N.

Yelp
The prices have gone up, but $19.50 for lunch (3 tacos and beans) seems a bit excessive. $6.50 for single burrito alone, hmm. Even Velvet Taco and Torchy's is cheaper. Inflation, yeah I know, but come on man! I did appreciate that they brought me a corn elotes instead of the beans (not vegetarian), and the tacos were delish - but outdoor dining today was contending with an onslaught of flies. This place has gone up and down, but because of its location they can try to get those prices from non-locals or touristas - there are other more economical options all around FTW. If they had at least one more vegetarian/vegan option it might be worth a return visit (they have chopped their menu in half and only offer a mushroom option - yuck!).... I might go back, alas.

Shelley G.

Yelp
Loved this place!!! Food was fantastic. Had a true authentic taste! Service was also great! Ranch waters were a fave! Patio was warm even though it was 35 degrees! Do yourself a favor and go!

Jon S.

Yelp
We were recently in the area and decided to try Taco Head's again. Shortly after sitting down I regretted that decision. First off the staff was excellent. One of our party had dietary restrictions and the kitchen manager came out to offer him a different side instead of the beans. A plus for that. The menu has undergone a complete change. The only vegetarian option was a mushroom. That's disgraceful, there are plenty of other vegetarian options out there. The prices have also increased substantially. We ended up getting the grilled shrimp taco plate and the redfish taco plate. It's a good thing I was starving because my fish tacos were cold. We had already waited a while and I didn't feel like sending it back and waiting longer. The taste was average at best. The beans were spicy but not the best I've ever had. Overall I understand now why the parking lot was empty after it had been packed for years prior when we drove by. Unfortunately I'm not a fan and my second trip will be my last trip. There are far too many great taco options that aren't gouging your wallet for what you receive.

Clara S.

Yelp
Best quesadilla I've ever had! The interior of the restaurant was very cute and aesthetic. The service was average but not bad at all, overall 10/10! p.s. the ice was really good!

Joseph F.

Yelp
I went here for a late lunch on Sunday and it was slow and the food was ok. Food (3/5): I had an al pastor and crunch beef taco, both on corn tortillas. The tortillas were disappointing and stale. The fillings were ok, but the meat at plenty of hole-in-the-wall places is better. We tried to order ceviche but they were out of it. I had a sip of "Texas's Best Margarita," which was watered down and just not good. The spice in it was nice. Ambiance (3.5/5): Cute outdoor seating area. There were a lot of bugs, though. Service (1/5): Service was seriously slow despite there being a fair number of people working the dining area. It may have taken 15 minutes to get the margarita and another 10 to get the tacos. Employees seemed polite but unpolished.

Kara C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go when I am in the area! I love the atmosphere and the service. The food is always amazing, and I love their queso! Also, they have one of the best jalapeño margaritas I've ever had!

Luis C.

Yelp
Amazing Service! Best drinks in Fort Worth Texas. Had a good time from Oregon. Highly recommend if you are a tourist or in for a good time.

Maitina M.

Yelp
The wait took longer than what I would have wanted BUT the waitress was very nice when she finally got to our table. I informed her that we were on a time crunch which she acknowledged. I went with their grilled shrimp tacos and my friend had a breakfast vegetable taco with a slice of bacon. Our meals got to our table within minutes of placing our order. The waitress heard us and acted on it. We were literally in and out of the restaurant within 30 minutes.

David R.

Yelp
We stopped in at Taco Heads for a quick bite and we really liked the new set up and menu. If you haven't been back to Taco Heads in a while like us, they've expanded their patio, which is now fully covered, and revamped their menu. I opted for some of the old favorites of the Al Pastor and the Garlic Cilantro Gulf Shrimp, each on corn, and loved both. The way Taco Heads serves their corn tortillas just slightly crispy gives these street tacos a bit of a unique touch. If you've yet to see the new trappings at Taco Heads, stop in for a beer and a taco.

Adele N.

Yelp
First it's right next door to dickies arena/ stock show. Loved that! Once we found how to get in, yes we walked around the whole building, we where seated right away! Staff was friendly but hard to hear over the loud music. She got my husband drink wrong.... He wasn't mad because he liked it. Small menu was great for adults but staying to get something for my 6 year old was challenging. I wish they had something like a bean and cheese taco that was not the spicy bean... but that just my picky kid. I had the house margarita it was fantastic! Over all I would recommend it!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Having lunch here and it's fantastic!! Great food, the bartender is amazing, and everyone here has chatted with us and been really kind. The owner took our photo for us as well, since I'm visiting from Michigan and actin all touristy!

Francisco R.

Yelp
I visited the restaurant on Monday around 4:20Pm, had a bad service from one of the ladys at the bar, bad attitude, I ask for a Frozen Margarita and didn't like the taste and consistent of the drink. Asked for my ticket and the lady with a piercing on her nose saw that I didn't drink my margarita and ask me if I need a to go cup for it and I answer no and told her why didn't finish it and she told me "sorry we don't accept returns on drinks"

Dixie H.

Yelp
OH YUM!! Loved the shrimp and steak tacos! Drinks had the perfect amount of kick. The sopapias were to die for, so yummy with the honey/caramel drizzle Last but not least, the service was great, very persona and attentive !! Definitely coming back!

Ashly H.

Yelp
TACO HEADS! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!!! So we used to live at Montgomery Plaza and my husband and I would ALWAYS go walk to the Taco Heads food truck whenever we could since they used to only be open from Thursdays to Sundays. It. Was. Heaven. And now that we came back to Fort Worth to visit, they are now a full on restaurant and I gotta say, they're not as great as they used to be. Something just isn't right...well, along with the EGG SHELLS that I discovered in my breakfast taco. Also, taco heads doesn't allow you to modify the order on DoorDash so for those of you who don't like cilantro (because 50% of the worlds population can't taste it the same way the rest can and it tastes like dirt) then you'll be performing surgery to remove every spec before eating. Also, I like extra salsa. That's a no-go there, too. These weren't worth the cost like before. Hope that when I come back things have improved? Hit or miss in my opinion.

Guillermo C.

Yelp
The brisket and fish tacos were some of the best I've had in the DFW area and you really get a lot for the price. The brisket specifically was thick and juicy leaving me very satisfied. The Queso was very watery and cold so it wasn't really good for dipping as it just shed off chips. The chips themselves were thick though so I wish they had something substantial to dip into. The service could of been better with the heat and flies we were wanting to be out sooner, but when there's a lack of servers it's understandable. Would definitely opt for sitting inside next time. Great choice for a pre-show snack before attending Dickies for an event.

Jessica B.

Yelp
During a visit from California, my husband and I were exploring Fort Worth and looking for some breakfast! We originally stopped off at another joint but because of the parking situation decided to go somewhere else. We saw the sign for taco heads as we were driving and said, "why not?" When we arrived we were surprised to see that we were the only customers because their setup as so cute! Couple of indoor tables but mostly covered outside. We were seated quickly and our server was pleasant! Recommended her favorites and a couple of drink options as well. After ordering our food came just a few minutes later. My husband and I tried 3 different breakfast tacos eat and loves every one of them. Super fresh tortillas, tasted hand made! Even the veggie taco, which my husband was skeptical about, tasted delicious. And to top it all off, my drink was strong. How I like it :) Would definitely recommend stopping in, thanks Taco Head!

Michael B.

Yelp
Great service/ waitress and great patio but the food is way way sub par. Just bad flavors and the tacos are freaking SIX DOLLARS PER. Fish tastes old and they advertise it as blackened but it comes out white and devoid of seasoning. Sauces are lackluster. No complementary chips and salsa at all. Ranch water has margarita mix in it. Won't be back

Matthew W.

Yelp
We came here with a group of four, my sister and her husband, a friend of theirs with his dog, and myself. We were seated immediately outside on their enclosed patio. It was very warm and we were able to remove our jackets. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and chips with guacamole for the table. I ordered the mushroom taco, avocado taco, and Redfin taco. They were delicious. This is a very night spot with a great outdoor patio. They also have music and drink and food specials apparently on Saturdays from 5-9pm, which we didn't know about ahead of time. Sadly though we arrived at about 4 and had to leave at 5.

Dorian J.

Yelp
I got the garlic cilantro gulf shrimp taco and the bacon and egg taco. The shrimp taco was good but the breakfast taco was just okay. The restaurant is nice, it's on an outdoor patio. The main downside was the extremely long wait.

Scott S.

Yelp
Sarai was very friendly and helpful she was really good and the desserts were amazing

Blair B.

Yelp
Just had a great lunch at TH! Breakfast tacos in the afternoon? Yes please. These tacos were hearty AND fancy - filling and delicious. The limeade wasn't too sweet. The music playlist was perfect throwback vibes - from Bey to Montell, my partner and I were bopping in our booth. The bartender/server Michael was great, and the host who seated us was very nice. Reading the article next to the bathroom, I figured out that the spot is locally owned. Always feels special to find a spot like this. My only wish is that the "See hostess to be seated" be updated to be more gender-neutral.

Melissa H.

Yelp
*Vegetarian Review* I feel like I am a positive Yelper and want to give 5 stars but some major things are lacking: 1. The online menu and the actual menu are not the same. Online there are several vegetarian options but they are currently only serving a black bean taco. This is disappointing. It's easy to update your website and just as important. Certain food allergies cause us to look ahead at menus. 2. The service was slow and seemed rushed. Our server just buzzed by and forgot about us several times. 3. The bar was inconsistent. I ordered the same drink twice and they came out different. Disappointed. The pros are that the chips, salsa and guacamole were good. Small queso portions but everyone with me liked their tacos. A few easy fixes and it's a 5 star visit.

Jonas B.

Yelp
STAY AWAY!!! Absolutely terrible. The wait was 15 mins to get seated. After setting at the bar not getting served for an hour we sat without drinks or menus. 30 mins later we switched tables because we never got service. Once we finally ordered not one single thing was correct for our party of 6 except for the queso and chips. They didn't even have any salsa. The "best in Texas" margarita was only available in frozen and tasted like it had something rotten in it. After replacing with their "top shelf" option we actually enjoyed that. One of our party resulted in refilling his own coke because the waitress never filled it the entire 3hours we were there.... For Tacos and drinks. Location is prime and this place could be a goldmine but management has failed here.

David W.

Yelp
Service was great, waitress very prompt with all drinks, and sides.Total bill was almost 130,which wasn't bad.We paid waitress ,on way out manager approached me,and in very rude way ,said hadn't paid our bill.Told her I had,she replied what waitress? I pointed to her,she hadn't put in yet.I will not be going back, sad one person, ruins a place.Top it off ,didn't apologize. Oh well

Rebekah L.

Yelp
I wanted to like it. I think it has potential but we probably won't go back. It was a Sunday afternoon, very few people in the place and even so, of my two tacos ordered, one was missing most of the key toppings you order it for including the one in the name. I figure if they can't make the taco right on a slow afternoon, probably not worth my time going back. The restaurant has a great location and ambience but the food quality and service were subpar.

Nikki C.

Yelp
Cute atmosphere, very relaxed. Family and pet friendly. Had the trio taco- brisket, red fish and mushroom. Mushroom was surprisingly my favorite! It was delicious. Their beans do have a kick and really enjoyed the jalapeño sweet tea, which I thought was pretty unique. Would eat here again.

Amy D.

Yelp
I usually don't have a desire for tacos because I've had some weak ones with very little toppings. Taco heads exceeded my expectations for flavorful and full tacos. The first time I went I ordered a three taco plate with a side of guacamole and chips. I learned that was way too much food for me, so this time I only got the two taco plate. This only costs $13 which is a lot better than getting a an appetizer portion of guac plus your tacos. My favorite tacos are the grilled fish and al pastor. Both are extremely flavorful. The only thing I did to enhance the flavor was add freshly squeezed lime. They do have a green and orange sauce if that's up your alley. So the margaritas are delicious, refreshing, and go down so smooth. Get them for $5 during happy hour monday through friday. If you happen to go on the weekend or outside of happy hour time, your drink bill is going to rack up quickly. All in the name of fun :)

Sydney N.

Yelp
Horrible all around. The service was terrible. Our server rushed us and had an attitude. We had to ask 2 different people to ask her to come back to the table because she took our order then disappeared for 20 minutes. Did not bring us water. Food came out cold. Below average tasting as well. Do not spend your money here.

Gail S.

Yelp
Service was okay. Tacos were tasty but very small $6 for one fish taco. Yep a tourist place.

Joe M.

Yelp
Ok, first time here and stopped as we were going to Reba. The place was crowded but totally understand that with the concert. Outside tables all full so we sat inside. I had the Hawaiian Taco and it was good. Also had the guacamole and chips, which also were good. The reason I'm not sure if I'd go back were the flies were TERRIBLE! Spent the entire time shoo-in them away and they were relentless!!! There are less bugs outside then inside!!!! Again good food and service was good, but totally turned off with the flies germ issue!!!
