It's Taco Tuesday so of course had to get some tacos. Finally got around to trying this new, fast food spot. Ordered 2 crunchy beef tacos and 2 soft steak tacos, reflected on the receipt, but got all crunchy tacos instead. That's ok though. Their steak tacos are delicious and portions are just right. Steak is plump, perfectly marinated and flavorful. Although the beef tacos were a bit oily, it wasn't dripping in it. Taste reminiscent of the meat in beef tamales. Didn't see any salsa/salsa packets on the menu but will need to pay attention next time. Also didn't get to try their Potato Olés which are coined tater tots but will next time. Overall, this place isn't and shouldn't be compared to Taco Bell, and that's a good thing!

This was a taste from home!!!! I grew up on this food lol. It was nice to see this store in the area! The whole store was incredibly clean, staff was smiling and courteous. The food was made very fast and was hot and good!!! As a matter of fact I forgot to take the food pics I ate it so fast lol! Pics don’t show it but there is more seating. You will either love or hate Taco John’s…… I love it!

I love this place, far better than Taco Bell, not sure why there aren't more. I used to have this in Iowa all the time. Hardshell and softshell tacos snd Potato oles are excellent. The people working the counter and service were excellent. Highly recommend!

Google
Taco John is basically a “Better Bell”. It’s all over the Midwest but not in Chicago. Glad to see them opening up here. Their crunchy tacos have more meat and flavor than a typical fast food taco. Love the Potato Ole’s which are tater tot coins. This location was very clean when I went and I will definitely return.

Staff is friendly and service gets better every time I come here. My only complaint is that they close early (around 8:30-9:00 PM)

I'm a TJ's lover from waaay back & delighted to see they've returned to the Chicagoland area. With that said: Brand new place. The service was quick & efficient. However, the Beef & Potato Burritos were a little dry, i.e., could've used a bit more cheese sauce & sour cream. Politely mentioned it to the manager & he sincerely thanked me for the input. Will definitely be back... 6/8/23 Update: I am, now, what I guess you'd call a "Regular" at this location. I make the 30 min trip to TJ's about 3 or 4 times ea. month. The staff knows me & I couldn't be more pleased with the service and quality of their food. Moreover, any "opening-day jitters" have long since been addressed, and my rating has been changed (from 4⭐️, to 5⭐️, to reflect this). They're first rate across the board and, tbh, easily top my local 🌮🔔's taste, quality & service. If you've never had Taco John's before, I would heartily recommend you give this location a try; their food is AMAZING & I can guarantee you'll be back! And if you've already tried TJ's elsewhere? Then hit this one up; the portions are generous, taste great & the food you get actually looks like it does on their menu! I'd consider this restaurant the Flagship Store for the entire N. IL & S. WI area - i.e. you won't get it better, anywhere else!

This is a really good place to meet your date but you didn’t want to go to taco bell so she would get a hint that you have more money than you actually do and also you can say your vehicle is charging on the tesla chargers but she doesn’t t know you have an electric moped.

Yelp
First of all, this is a fast food restaurant! This review is within the expectations of a quick, inexpensive meal. Having enjoyed Taco John's only while traveling, we were excited to see that this fun, unique taco restaurant was coming to town. The staff is friendly, even with occasional communication gaps, which can be common with low paying jobs at similar places. The consistently do extra to make sure customers are happy, which is a joy and gift at a fast food place. Their food is unique in that they use "Potato Ole" for filler in their taco's, and also have wonderful flavors with fish and shrimp (both seasonal) or chicken. Their churro's are amazing, and always made fresh to order! The restaurant is part of a gas station, and near O'Hare, so there are a lot (!!!) of limos and drivers always around, as well as many (!!!) EV charging stations. Busy place, so watch as you back up. ;-) Give them a shot for something different, and uniquely better than other 'taco' places nearby!

Yelp
I grew up on taco John's. Many will remember how they had a salad bar like set up where you could add things to your tacos and burritos. jalapeños and various salsas and cilantro. It was boss! That is all gone now since the virus. Why isnt it back?!? Now it's take what you get. Can't fix it up. i've been to this location three times. (In the past I have driven over an hour into Wisconsin to find Taco John's.) I am a fan. IMPORTANT: This location is over seasoning their meat. It's like in the movie "Vacation" where they just eat. Hamburger Helper without the actual hamburger. This meat tastes just like spice mix and only spice mix. TOO MUCH!!! I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that they are not following corporate guidelines on this. This franchise is run by lovely folks of Indian descent, (which is the proper way to say they are from India) and they do tend to like their food spicier. I think they are ignoring the spice tolerance of most locals and I'm betting the franchise guidelines. Sadly, and it will harm their business. A real shame.

Yelp
If you like that other place that ends in "Bell," you'll love this place. 'Nuff said. (They have free wifi)

Yelp
It's got to be the only non-Taco Bell fast Mexican food place in Chicagoland, right? The food tastes way better than Taco Bell. The place is in a gas station at the airport, but it's super clean and the food is hot, fresh, and delicious!

Yelp
Not surprised this location closed. I returned several times to see if the food improved. It didn't Meat hard hard bits in it... shells weren't fresh Beans not fully blended or cooked thru... I preferred to drive 1 hour to the next closet taco johns than the 15 minutes to get to this one. Please someone reopen the taco johns doing it correctly this time.

Yelp
Nice alternative to Taco Bell. Slightly better in my opinion. People here are incredibly nice and helpful even as the service is a bit slow. Very clean. What else you need to know about a fast food restaurant in a gas station?

Dave K.

Yelp
Service was very slow. We dined inside and they got our order totally wrong four times in a row. They were very disorganized and their whole team struggled with everyone's orders that night. Everyone around us had problems with their orders being wrong in some sort of way. Food was mediocre by best. Not sure I will go there again!

Yelp
I have been to many taco John's throughout the northwest and it's one of the families favorite places to always stop and eat so while in Chicago, we drove all the way across town to get some taco John's. This was by far one of the best taco John's locations we've ever stopped at. the staff was amazingly friendly and provided excellent customer service, and the food was prepared quite well and the portions were perfect. The tacos felt more like burritos.

Yelp
Decent beef tacos , definitely return to try other items. 7/11 has two Mexican inspired fast food restaurants attached to their locations in the Chicago suburbs. Their both decent and should stay open late

Yelp
The prices here are no cheaper than Taco Bell and the food is on point with Taco Bell I used to get taco John's all the time while traveling and I always remember it being super delicious the tacos I had today I don't know what the meat was but it was disgusting I couldn't even eat one taco and I was so excited to see a taco John's anywhere within the vicinity that I could drive to not to mention it was so freezing cold in there it was probably 50° in there. Won't return
