Amazing spot very clean very cozy exceptional service great owner very friendly. The margaritas were so good and the pricing was point on. He made us his drunken salsa omg it was delicious. The tamales were tasty I did like the green more than red but bc the green is my normal choice. Please check out this small gem happy hour is awesome.

I’m embarrassed I’ve lived down the street for almost 4 years and this is my first time in. Although, it’s a place I’ve always thought about walking past. Don’t make my mistake. Head to LuLu’s where I can confidently you’re good ordering anything on the menu. (** we had steak nachos. 8.5/10, very go-to meal, a children’s chicken quesadilla which went untouched for all of 5 min before I decimated it and began wondering why I didn’t order one myself)

I ordered the pastor and steak tacos with mango margaritas. The restaurant offers kiosks for those who prefer to avoid waiting in line, and the food is served quickly. The pastor taco was packed with flavor and generously filled, while the steak taco was a bit too salty for my liking. The mango margarita was delicious. Although the restaurant is spacious, it can get quite hot inside.

This is one of the better burritos I’ve had, especially in Chicago. 13$ for something that keeps you full all day is unbeatable. It has everything I wanted and was so good. The interior was nice with all the spanish music and decor.

I have passed by this place a few times within this month. So yesterday when my mom and I passed by we just so happened to find a parking spot! Scoreeee! We went in... Taco Lulu's was jumping! We came around lunch time so it was soo busy and they also had a big delivery headed out too. They make your order fast! It's a no frills joint but they do it right!!! You go to cashier place your order and wait for them to call your number. After your number is called and you get your food then you head over to the other side to be seated. My mom and I wanted Enchiladas with mole sauce but they didn't carry it. We were bummed a little but Taco Lulu has burritos, tacos, fajitas, nachos etc. Tangent..Someone walked past me after I ordered with the most delicious looking chicken taco salad that have seen in a minute!!! So anyway we each ordered Steak Nachos with everything add guacamole and a peach margarita on the rocks. It was very affordable! I was bummed when the cashier said that they didn't use Chihuahua cheese for the nachos but ordered anyway and was surprised at how good it was. My mom thought the margarita was too sweet and the nice owner brought her another on the house. I enjoyed mine. It could have a splash more alcohol but it was a nice size about 10-12 ounces for $11! That's a steal of a deal! My nachos were massive and well executed. The queso sauce that was used was very tasty. It didn't have that cheap velveeta flavor at all. I noticed the tacos looked very fresh and delicious as well. I met the owner Mike who was there bussing tables, making margaritas and being very polite. He said he named his restaurant after his cute dog Lulu! So precious! I will totally return!!! **each table had green and red salsa that was just taken out of the fridge. I could tell because the bottles were cold. I appreciate that extra step! Plenty of places just let the salsa sit out, never refrigerate and become a cess pool!

Authentic, welcoming and tasteful! The tacos were so good and portions were filling. Definitely coming back!

Heavy D said "We Got Our Own Thang", and Taco Tuesday is our Thang!! This quick trip to the west loop was a pleasant surprise and even better dining experience. Every taco was made fresh to order and was full of flavor. They definitely earned a 5 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 out of 5. Now I was a little skeptical about the pre-made margaritas but they were much better than expected. They get a 4.5 🍹🍹🍹🍹out of 5 #tacostacostacos #tacosandtequila #doinglifetogether #itswhatwedo #tacotuesday

Yelp
Taco Lulú is a unique spot in downtown Chicago, standing out with its authentic Mexican look and inviting atmosphere. The moment you step in, the vibrant colors, traditional decor, and the aroma of sizzling meat transport you straight to the streets of Mexico. But as charming as the place is, the real star here is the food. I ordered three tacos de arrachera, and they were exactly what my body needed on a Friday night. Each taco came fully loaded, wrapped in two warm, soft corn tortillas that held everything together beautifully. The arrachera was juicy and packed with rich, smoky flavors, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of char. There was a subtle crispiness to the edges of the meat, adding an incredible texture to every bite. The toppings complemented the steak flawlessly, fresh cilantro, diced onions, and a hint of lime, bringing balance to the deep umami of the meat. But the real magic happened when I added their salsa. It had a nice kick, just enough heat to wake up the senses without overpowering the flavors. The spice tied everything together, elevating the already delicious tacos into an unforgettable experience. Each bite was pure happiness, the kind of food that satisfies not just hunger but the soul. If you're in downtown Chicago craving authentic Mexican street-style tacos, Taco Lulú is a must-visit. The flavors, textures, and that perfect salsa heat make for an unbeatable taco experience.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Tacos were a little pricey given the size. The place was clean and service was good. Somehow my tacos weren't that hot when I go them. They were sort of like warm which was pretty disappointing. The Campenchero taco was my favourite. It was steak and chorizo. Don't be a gringo stupido and get tacos with anything other than cilantro and onions.

Nolan F.

Yelp
I ordered Arrachera, Chorizo and Egg, and Pastor tacos. Meats were all tender and flavorful. I was surprised that the eggs weren't dry and it was a delicious combination with the chorizo. Chips and corn tortillas were legit. Excellent taco shop conveniently located near the Union Station. Tacos are pricey but the size and quality are arguably reasonable. Good amount of seating inside. No issues with service.

Yelp
Taco Lulu is a solid spot if you're looking for quick margaritas, an affordable meal or just a place to meet your coworkers! Their frozen margaritas are refreshing, and a nice bonus is the free chips if you check in on Yelp. The vibe is very casual and service was fine. While it's nothing fancy, it hits the spot for quick eats and drinks! -AT

Yelp
**rare instance where I don't have an actual photo My husband and I both got steak burritos and a side of fries. The fries were fresh, flavorful and crispy. Just how I like them. The burritos were really good. This probably was the best 'authentic tasting' burrito that I've had in a while. If we're in the area again, I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Stumbled on this gem while rushing to an appointment. I pulled over because there happened to be a parking space out front and I was starving. These were some of the best tacos! I was able to order from iPad-sized kiosks on the counter. I opted for steak tacos the way I like them, and added rice since I saw the option. These were absolutely delicious. I rushed to eat them before my kid got in the car cus...kids, right? I can't wait to go back and savor the flavor!

Deamontria R.

Yelp
We ordered catering for lunch and it was a big hit. They packaged everything nicely. They came right on time and were super nice. Everything tasted yummy and the team was happy with the order.

Yelp
I had the cheese quesadilla with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, onion and pico de gallo. I have never really been thrilled with the food here, but the quesadilla was awesome! Ground beef cooked and spiced up just right, not too much for lunch and not too little. The lady behind the counter even threw in a little container of sour cream, which rounded out the whole thing. I don't eat Mexican food every day, but I would come back here often enough for those quesadillas. Had to pass on the Spanish rice side because of diabetes and high sugar levels, so one quesa was enough for one meal. You're paying $13 plus tax for one quesadilla, however, they are loaded with meat and cheese so you more than get what you shell out for here.

Yelp
Food was really good and flavorful! Those steak tacos were the star of the show. Margs were flavorful, and we had the $10 shots! Great place for happy hour or to just get your taco fix. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, I even met the dog the restaurant is named after, how cool!!

Latifah A.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed by the restaurant. Service was quick, ambiance is casual, but the food was a little too salty for my liking.

Oscar B.

Yelp
The food is great and portion sizes are generous (compared to other tacos). The staff are friendly, I ordered online and the process was smooth. Inside is nice but I always order takeout.

Braulio C.

Yelp
Ordered a Pastor Burrito, it was the saltiest and soggiest burrito I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Would advise anyone that doesn't like eating pure salt to stay away from this place.

Ashley C.

Yelp
I went here for happy hour where I got a peach margarita, chips and salsa (green and red) for $9 and a pastor taco Lulú style. The food was great and the margarita had a good flavor even though it was mostly ice and not very strong. The highlight was absolutely that taco and I would go back just for those.

Sky N.

Yelp
Got a steak taco and a red tamale, both were delicious and freshly made. Food was quick to come out and staff were friendly. Nice lighting on the dine-in side.

Ali M.

Yelp
This place is super fun and very affordable. You order up front and sit in the back. They bring you your food/drinks when they are ready but it's a super casual vibe. The food was great and the drinks were strong. The restaurant is based off the owners dog and we got to meet her which is so fun!

Holly B.

Yelp
Delicious food I don't have pictures of because I ate it so fast. You can order at the counter or on one or two self service tablets which was nice. Tacos were huge; I ordered two but really only needed one. Burritos were also huge which a friend got and someone else got the quesadilla which was good. Taking off one star because I got the seasoned fries but they were a little plain without something to dip in!

Theodore C.

Yelp
I would avoid this one, and I hate to give bad reviews. The food was ok priced but would have expected more than paper plates and plastic utensils for a 72 dollar meal for 2. I could have given that a pass if it wasnt for the cold thick queso, the soggy burrito that was practically inedible, oversteamed corn tortillas that came out too hot to touch and were stuck together and inseperable and bland rice. Beans and chicken meat were the best parts. My partner ordered a margarita and was very disappointed. Overly sour, and no tequila flavor at all for 11 bucks. Even though it is close to Union station, it isnt worth it. Food court would have been better.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Great, friendly service. Cute restaurant with indoor, bar and outdoor seating. Steak burrito was decent, however no rice was included in it. Also no black beans were available as an alternative to refried beans. Green salsa was very hot and delicious. Red was mild and the typical Midwestern tomato soupy type that people out here like. Margarita was from a tap and OK. I had a classic margarita and there was *way* too much sweet and sour in it. However, the vibe (decor, music) was great and the staff was *extremely* kind. When I'm back at Union Station on a long layover I'll surely visit again!

Johnfavour N.

Yelp
Got the best arrachera (skirt steak) quesadilla here. Also got a horchata from their self-service. The ice comes in small cubes which I liked. It took maybe 15 mins to prepare the quesadilla since it's cooked fresh. On the way out I asked for some salsas, and they gave me a green and red salsa free of charge. I wasn't too hungry so half the quesadilla was enough for dinner, since it was packed with skirt steak. Really really good arrachera. Sometimes I wake up and think about it. There's plenty of paid street parking along both Adams and Jefferson streets. Also plenty of seats inside for dining in, you probably won't need a reservation.

Rosalyn F.

Yelp
Great taco salad. Also ordered catering tacos were amazing. We had beef and chicken. Thanks

Steven M.

Yelp
We had Taco Salad and dressing take out great food derive and ambiance we will return!!!

Yelp
Oh my goodness. One the BEST highlights from our long weekend in Chicago! My kids love Mexican food, and this spot was right around the corner from where we were staying. How can you miss the photo of the adorable dog on the side of the building? We were also drawn in my the bright picnic tables and charming string lights. My crew got a table, and my son and I went inside to place a large order (everyone wanted something different.) The staff was SO friendly and helpful! It's also so fun to see them making the food right in front of you. We ordered tacos, rice, beans, nachos, a taco salad, a quesadilla for my daughter... you name it, we probably ordered it. Even so, our tab wasn't too bad! Everyone loved their food. Truly authentic, and very high-quality. However, the BEST part of the meal was when the owner, Michael, came out and told my kids they could come in for a free paleta. Their eyes lit up! We thought that would be the height of excitement, but then he asked them if they wanted to MEET LULU. That's right, Lulu herself was right upstairs and my kids got to pet her. It really was the royal treatment! This place embodies everything there is to love about a local business. We were so grateful for their hospitality and for how thoughtful they were with my kids. I hope to visit sometime again!

Trevor B.

Yelp
I ordered the al pastor, pollo, and asada tacos. I would say I liked the tacos in order of the preference listed above. The corn tortillas were delicious! I feel as though the salsa was a little too watery for my liking. The service was fantastic. They were quick and courteous. The venue was clean and spacious. They have a bar in the back area. Seems like a great place to relax and enjoy some solid tacos.

Rhonda D.

Yelp
Had it not been for the fact that they misplaced my order and they messed up my hubby's order by not adding steak to his salad, which we didn't realize until we brought the food back to the office, this place would have a solid 4 stars. Unfortunately, these mixups plus the staff's lackadaisical attitude around my misplaced order warrants a 2-star rating. I give one bonus star because I received a free order of chips for checking in on Yelp.

Dannielle C.

Yelp
Taco LuLu is good every time I have visited. Which is often because I work downtown Chicago. One minor issue I have with them is missing ingredients from my orders a couple of times. Inside the restaurant is basic as it relates to cleanliness, decor and customer service.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
I placed a large catering order with Taco Lulu (based on their location & on a whim). The food was SO good and everyone loved it. We had the food delivered and it was on time and they were very organized. The owner, Michael, called me to see how everything went. Unfortunately he called before our food was scheduled to be delivered so I didn't have any feedback for him. But the fact that he called to check on the satisfaction of his customer speaks a lot. We will definitely be keeping this restaurant in mind for future events!

Kate W.

Yelp
Taco Lulu is around the corner from my school, so I've stopped in a few times when I need a quick bite to eat. I prefer ordering ahead online so I don't have to wait in line, especially when it's around lunch time. Even when ordering ahead, I always have to wait about 20 minutes for my food to be ready - something to keep in mind if you have a limited lunch break. Prices are a little on the higher side for a taco place, but are on par with the higher prices of the West Loop. The chicken is great and I love the fresh salsas, but everything is so soggy that the tacos are impossible to eat without them falling apart. They fare a little better if I get flour tortillas, but there is an associated up charge. I've heard they have a decent happy hour, so I may return to try that with some colleagues. Otherwise, I think I'm okay stopping in a few times a year.

Tatiana G.

Yelp
Delivery driver drove off with my food, then started sending all calls to voicemail, location also rings twice then to voicemail. Service lacking but the theft probably means food is good but I couldn't say.

Veronica C.

Yelp
Delicious tacos! Yummy nachos! Silky queso with fries and of course the michelada was on point! Cute place with fun vibes.

Daniel S.

Yelp
This is a great spot for tacos. I haven't yet had anything else on the menu but what I had today was very good.. I had two steak tacos and one fish taco along with a side of guacamole. It was very good and I will definitely be back.

Remy S.

Yelp
The food was great although I wish they had grilled chicken breast meat instead of chicken tinga but overall really fresh food. Casual spot. Great drinks. Counter service. Ambiance is super casual.

L L.

Yelp
They offer great plumpy tacos in the downtown loop. My favorite is their Chorizo and try their tacos with "Lulu style." Also, they offer alcohol and margaritas. Their happy hour starts at 3pm. Staff is friendly.

Alexandra A.

Yelp
I was pretty impressed with this place - I had a craving for basic, no frills, somewhat Americanized Mexican food, and this place really scratched my itch. I ordered their chips & guac, chicken platillo, and horchata for delivery. It arrived quickly and correctly which is always a plus and I enjoyed it. I read some reviews complaining about the cost of the guac, but I felt like it was very fairly priced! It was a good guac with lots of tomato and onion which I liked. I was hoping for better chips, but you can't have it all lol. They just tasted like store bought chips. The platillo was like a build your own tacos set-up with meat, rice, beans, and lettuce with cheese and pico. You could also choose between corn and flour tortillas so I went with corn. I enjoyed being able to load up the tacos the way I liked and adding guac to them. My only complaint would be that the chicken was SO SALTY. It was on the verge of being bad, but building the taco with blander, mellower flavors helped a lot and I needed up enjoying it all quite a bit. I would have liked it more if it weren't so salty though. The horchata was also pretty tasty but generally average. Still glad I got it though. All in all, I enjoyed and ate everything I ordered happily. There was only one thing that I could have done without, and that's the obligatory salsas that came with the meal. Those were awful. Just downright bad. They tasted as if the restaurant mixed a few gallons of water into a normal portion of salsa to stretch it out resulting in tasteless and watery sauces. I just threw these away after tasting which felt wasteful so I wish they were omitted or improved in the future. No dealbreakers though, so if I ever have a hankering for easy, fast Mexican food I'll keep Taco LuLú in mind.

Tian Y.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by my lunch deliveries. I don't think this is too different from what you'd find in similar places. But here, the ingredients have been fresh, and the food is well-cooked and flavorful without being overly salty/MSG'd. Also the portions are pretty generous. Even with tax, fees, and tip, a little over $20 gets you a ton of food, in a combination of a larger thing (burrito, nachos, torta) with a smaller item (tostada/sides/tacos). They don't skimp on the proteins either. The only thing I don't love are the free salsas that are always included in my order. They have been a little inconsistent - sometimes the green is bland, sometimes the red is spicy yet flavorless. I don't mind too much, but if you do, maybe this is a dealbreaker for you. I don't know. I'm generally not too picky for lunch and like to try new places, but I find myself craving a saucy burrito + a side from here when I'm feeling really hungry. And since I'm not leaving reviews for mediocre and below-average places during COVID, I've honestly just stopped writing most reviews. It's been rare to find casual lunch spots places worth giving 4 or 5 stars for. But Taco Lulu is a keeper! Definitely a nice lunch option I could recommend in good conscience.

Marcela S.

Yelp
Excellent, consistent and authentic Mexican food! Everything I've tried so far from the steak tacos , rice, beans, chips, salsa's( green & red) , tamales & Torta's are legit 5 stars! I'm looking forward to trying more menu items, but already in love with the everything I've tried! Especially, the Torta's! They have happy hour from 3-5pm $9 margaritas, that hit nice & taste like your on a Mexican beachfront resort, served w/ bottomless fresh-made chips and salsa! I will be a regular, since they're conveniently located 2 blocks from my residence and absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

Wendy H.

Yelp
Their payment system was great--went through super quick. (We were initially going to eat Thai food but the online payment system wasn't working.) This place texted multiple times to let us know when the food was ready to pick up so there wasn't an awkward waiting time. The serving sizes are pretty big and filling. The fries are to die for! Everything is also very saucy, so prepare a napkin. The boyfriend is a big fan of the tacos.

Karen C.

Yelp
Excellent cooked to order !!!! Well seasoned and fresh. The best taco in Chicago. I went back to back times because it was so good. Great drinks as well.

Vincent S.

Yelp
The food here is good and fresh, but a bit pricey. I'm disappointed in the beverage prices. A coke is almost $4.00. Everyone is very nice and the owner is very personable. Fun experience. I have yet to try to margaritas I've heard so much about.

Oliver M.

Yelp
OMG I so glad I found this place before my train! Food is great! Thanks to Michael for hospitality! I'll recommend this place to everyone who loves Mexican food!

Nadia H.

Yelp
I was super impressed with this place and will definitely be back in the future! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner who was warm and welcoming. I had placed an order online and while I was waiting he generously offered me a sample of their new margaritas. He then showed me around the restaurant and told me that it's actually named after his dog Lulu which made me like the place even more. The restaurant had a great indoor atmosphere and they just opened up an outdoor seating area as well. I would return in the future just based on the service alone. I ordered the pastor marinated pork taco, Picadillo ground beef taco, and the picadillo chicken taco. All of the meat was tender and incredibly seasoned. The tacos were loaded and all the ingredients were fresh. Rice and beans were so tasty as well. I had zero complaints whatsoever. One of the best taco joints I've found in the city. Definitely check this place out if your in the area.

K M.

Yelp
I've never had a fish burrito before, until visiting this spot. It was delicious, filling and light at the same time. I do recommend this restaurant. I'll be ask for the tacos soon.

Zach V.

Yelp
Restaurant is clean and decorated nicely but if your looking for real authentic Mexican food this ain't it. Its on the pricy side and the food is below average, I've been a few times because its close to my work, keep trying different items thinking maybe I will find one thing that could be my staple, and that has yet to happen.

Frances C.

Yelp
Super salty. Enough said will not order again. Not sure what type of cheeses was used for nachos. Maybe its best not to know

Belle M.

Yelp
These are the best tacos in the west loop, and arguably the city. The atmosphere is very authentic and the tacos Al Pastor are perfection.

Galina P.

Yelp
Best taco place in the loop/ West loop. I got the pastor and steak tacos and both were delicious! They have amazing sweet lemonade, as well. My food came out within 5 minutes and the owner is so kind and nice! It feels like your cozy neighborhood taco joint. The ambiance is really fun yet cozy all at the same time. I will have to come back with some friends on the weekends! In the meantime, it's a great place for lunch while working in the loop! Also, the restaurant is named after the owner's dog, which personally is the best reason to come here!

Jacob C.

Yelp
During COVID, very few places were open in the Loop, where I live. I walked to Taco Lulú but found that I had arrived after it has closed for the day. Still, the owner came outside and asked if I had ordered food but told him I did but got there too late. And, despite these desperate economic times -- which surely have affected the restaurant -- the owner brought me inside and gave me extra food he had, absolutely free. By the way he gave me a Oaxacan Tamale covered in plaintain leaves which was very tasty! Again, thanks for the awesome food! Chicago has your back when things return to normal.

Franck F.

Yelp
Horrible horrible horrible. Service is bad, people are rude and the food is 45 minutes late.... Stay away

Tim O.

Yelp
I really like it here. I like what they did with the space. This is a simple Mexican place. The experience overall is so much better than Taco Burrito King. Great place to stop by on the walk home from work.
