Google
Ordered it delivery and our biggest worry is always if it arrives hot and everything is still fresh. Not only did it arrive fast, everything was still nice and crisp and fresh! Meats were seasoned perfectly and not dry like some places can do. Definitely will try them again when we’re in town.

Google
I loved the idea of being able to sit down, order my food, and pay for it like fast food but table service. Great location. I have the Shrimp and Al Pastor tacos which were delicious. Very good horchata too!

Vinny

Google
Waited 45mins for food… just to get back to the hotel and the order was wrong. can’t go back because we had waited 20mins past closing time before finally getting our food. BE CAREFUL USING THE SCREEN THEY TELL YOU TO USE. THEY WILL NOT DO YOUR SPECIAL REQUEST YOU ASKED THEM TO DO.

Google
Best people. Best food. Absolutely love it. Been eating here since 2018 and it has never failed to keep up its standards. Love the signature taco.

Alex Garcia

Google
I had a craving one night and I was lucky enough for these guys to be open late. Ordering was easy. The food was fairly good. They also have a salsa station with about five options. I’m definitely gonna be coming here more often.

Melissa Karl

Google
It's a great little taco place! We ordered the 3-Taco plates - Steak, Shrimp, Dorado, Samosa, Korean Pork. DELICIOUS!! And we SCORED with the thin and crispy tortilla chips and salsa bar!

Anurag Sharma

Google
I visited Taco Maya and I absolutely loved the food! The flavors were amazing, everything was fresh, and the service was great. I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves good tacos. Can't wait to visit again! 🌮😊

Google
I had a rice bowl and a chicken taco from Taco Maya, and both were so good! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made just right. The employees were super nice and welcoming, especially Diya! She had such a warm and friendly vibe that really made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
THE BEST AL PASTOR I HAVE EVER HAD The chips and salsa were different but in a good way!! I loved the queso and the service was great!! I am sad I'm from Kansas City because I would be here non stop!!!

Taquanda H.

Yelp
I went to Taco Maya for a late night dinner at 11 pm. I was immediately greeted from the guy behind the counter asking if I wanted to dine in or carry out. The restaurant has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Upon sitting down, I was provided a basket of chips and salsa and a cup of water. I ordered the shrimp tacos, side of elotes and a Horchata. All three items were fresh and full of flavor.

Sara T.

Yelp
Ordered carry out order for a quick bite to eat after work. Unfortunately the chicken tikka taco ordered was completely raw had to throw my entire dinner to the trash.

Tessa H.

Yelp
Very easy to get to and great food. I was able to sit right down and order my food without having to wait. They served my food in a timely manner. It's a cute place and I will return

Mary M.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered steak burritos and it was mostly all lettuce. More like a lettuce wrap with a little bit of meat. We were very disappointed. We left feedback on the Taco Maya website almost a week ago and have not heard anything from them. I may be crazy, but I would think there would be more meat than lettuce in, you know, a steak burrito.

Igor M.

Yelp
Some of the best tacos I have ever had! Period. Tried the following: chilli potato, birria, Nashville hot chicken, chingon, and Yucatán shrimp. Each one was great, especially birria and chingon. Delicious unique fillings, perfect tortillas, and they have a great salsa bar as an added bonus. Look forward to coming back and trying the other tacos.

Rehan A.

Yelp
The fillings were delicious and unique, wrapped in perfectly made tortillas. The salsa bar was a fantastic bonus! The location is easy to access, and the food was excellent. I was able to sit down and order right away with no wait. I especially loved the tacos and nachos. It's a cozy little spot with friendly service--I'll definitely be coming back!

Rahima J.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this chain. There are SO many options and the food is very delicious. There is a sauce bar that is serve yourself and the food came out very quickly. Obviously had to have the complimentary chips and salsa and the portion size was good! Definitely not the most authentic but for a fusion taco place, this has definitely been one of my favorites.

Gauri S.

Yelp
Loved the tacos and nachos! Cosy little place with good service. Will definitely be visiting again.

Mitchellie V.

Yelp
Blah.... This place was not worth the visit. I can tell by the PiX=*{ Queso... tasted numbed & in plastic =*{

Krupa S.

Yelp
Definitely a great place to get some late night eats in. I love that. They have some Indian fusion tacos. My favorite tacos are the Samosa taco and the Nashville cauliflower one. My husband loves the al pastor burrito. if you're looking to indulge, the loaded fries are also delicious when you go in, you can get unlimited salsa from the salsa bar, and they have multiple very delicious options ranging from mild to spicy, depending on what you like. Definitely worth checking out the next time you're looking for a late night meal.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Was ready just as we walked in. The staff was very friendly. There was a whole salsa bar. We got the avocado salsa and a spicy salsa. They were both delicious. There is a decent amount of seating and the place was clean and modern. You can't go wrong with the food. It was fresh and seasoned well. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Bailey P.

Yelp
Not amazing but not terrible. The menu covered all the basics: burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, etc. plus some more unique items like chicken tikka and paneer tacos. I stuck with a classic chicken quesadilla which was good but nothing special. The highlight was the salsa bar - my favorite was the avocado salsa! There were also some fun signs inside that would make fun backgrounds for foodie pictures (I felt unmotivated today haha). The low was the speed of service, even at 3pm on a weekend when the place was otherwise pretty empty.

Paras P.

Yelp
recently ordered from Taco Maya, and I was really impressed. I got the beef chimichanga, shrimp tacos, and carne asada tacos. The chimichanga was massive and super flavorful crispy on the outside and packed with juicy beef inside. The shrimp tacos were also great; the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the toppings were fresh and added a nice crunch. But the carne asada tacos were definitely my favorite tender, well-seasoned meat with fresh cilantro and onions that made every bite amazing. The delivery was quick, and everything arrived hot, which was awesome. Overall, I'm super happy with my order. Taco Maya definitely hit the spot, and I'd order from them again in a heartbeat

Yelp
I was recently in Chicago with a conference group and had arranged for a group of 10 first time attendees at the conference to get together for lunch as a way to share a meal and build camaraderie among the newbies. I picked out Taco Maya since it was in walking distance from the conference hotel, there were plenty of seating options, you order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. We got there early enough that we were able to grab three tables and put them together. The employees were amazing and allowed us move things around - I imagine we weren't their first conference group. Service was efficient and food came out quickly. The restaurant even gave us free chips and salsa. I ordered the lunch special which included a choice of three tacos, rice and beans. I opted for the carnitas, chorizo, and al pastor. Two tacos were plenty for me, but for the price, it just made sense to get three. So, I was able to take one of the tacos to go. There is a salsa bar at the back of the restaurant, so you can also load up on any of your favorite flavors to add to your meal. We had so much fun here and really enjoyed our meal.

Saina B.

Yelp
Service and food got better lately and they open late until 1 or something. Their steak taco or anything with steak is good. And recently tried their shrimp burrito and it was so good. Must try!

Kurt P.

Yelp
This is what $17 gets you at Taco Maya (before tip). I got the Burrito Bowl not realizing chicken was $3 extra. It's not bad, but so incredibly basic. You can get the same thing but better at Dos Bros or Chipotle for like $10. I've been here before for the tacos and burritos, which are priced better. Sauces are good, service is slow.

Keith C.

Yelp
Best street tacos around. Period. How has this place been open for three years and I'm just hearing of it!?!?

Vera W.

Yelp
The food is very flavorful and the service was fast. By the time we got our drinks our food arrived about 5 minutes after. The vegetables were crunchy so I could tell they use super fresh ingredients. I'd definitely recommend them. Nice background music too.

Angelina Z.

Yelp
Food 4.5/5 Service 1.5/5 I ordered the chimichanga burrito with shrimp and it was amazing. Loved how cheesy it was, and they were super generous with the shrimp portion. The chips are also seasoned well, and the salsa bar is a nice touch. Our party came around 1pm on a weekend, and waited for almost 40 minutes after ordering for our food to come out :/

Quetta N.

Yelp
The service was beyond slow only because the cashier kept stopping while taking order to pre-filled tortilla chips. The rice and black beans were by far the worst rice and black beans I've had in my life. I'm not sure if this place is authentic Mexican cuisine but probably just carrying the name! I ordered the 3 taco plate with a Nashville hot chicken taco which was very good, the chicken tinga was flavorful and stuffed with meat and the Chicken Tikka, I am not even sure what I ate but it tasted awful to me (soggy, greasy chicken with fat on it). The margaritas were pre-made but they were good and should've been $5 instead of $14. I mean come on they were already made

Kathleen W.

Yelp
Perfect as a snack anytime of the day! I got the al pastor burrito after Lolla and it truly hit the spot~

Ishika K.

Yelp
Food was good, not the best but definitely a good go to Mexican spot that is quick and easy. The chips and guacamole were my favorite thing I got, everything else was decent! The ambiance is pretty chill, it's nothing cute just a quick spot. Service was also very quick and staff was super kind! I would recommend the guac and chips and the samosa taco and the chicken tikka taco!

Akanksha V.

Yelp
Beautiful Mexican-Indian restaurant. The tastes are unique and each full of life. This is a family owned restaurant so staff is super polite and friendly. From the chips & salsas, hand crafted drinks, to the murals on the walls, it screams nostalgia and brings a piece of india to Chicago. The flavors, new decor, and atmosphere are all the many features that make this space so unique.

Charlette B.

Yelp
Pricey, but worth it! Loved the steak tacos, and I liked the silly neon signs. Made for a nice night.

Sky W.

Yelp
A great little neighborhood taco spot in South Loop! My friends and I came for a quick little dinner before hanging out. When walking in, I didn't have high hopes since it doesn't look like your traditional taqueria. The lights were very bright. I love that you get free chips and salsa! More and more restaurants are seemingly getting rid of that over the years, so I'm happy Taco Maya continues to offer this for free. I ordered the 3 taco dinner with the Dorado, Tempura Shrimp, and Rib Eye tacos. This came with rice and some fried beans in a fried tortilla cup. The Dorado taco is by far my favorite, the fish was freshly fried and the other toppings were fresh. Tempura shrimp taco was good too. The rib eye taco was a bit disappointing as the meat was definitely overcooked, turning it a bit tough. The 3 taco dinner is a lot of food, so make sure you're very hungry before proceeding! I'd be interested to try their other specialty tacos next time! They have some unique options such as paneer, nashville hot chicken, and chicken tikka.

Kristopher C.

Yelp
I didn't come from LA expecting an LA taco experience... I'm here for the Chicago one! Taco Maya offers an intriguing Mexican/Indian fusion and does a great job cooking in both styles. I had the 3 Taco Plate with refried beans and chose a Chicken Tinga Taco, Dorado Taco and Shrimp Taco. They have more overtly Indian-inspired tacos but even the traditionally Mexican ones I chose had subtle shades of Indian spices. The chicken and shrimp were both cooked perfectly. The meal came with complementary chips and salsa that I could enjoy while waiting for the tacos. I came in on a weekday evening and the place was pretty busy and a little noisy but there was plenty of seating available and I was able to enjoy my meal fairly quickly.

Kaci F.

Yelp
I came here for lunch last Wednesday and was blown away by how delicious this taco place was. The counter "service" was super underwhelming but the food made up for it. The portions were HUGE and the food was fresh and delicious. The salads bar had so many options and free chips & salsa came with the order. Food came out fast and hot! I'll come back next time I need a quick and filling lunch.

Stacy H.

Yelp
So happy to have found some good tacos nearby! Came here with my husband and we both got taco plates. I got two Signature tacos and my husband got the Lengua. We also got rice and a choice of black beans or refried beans. While waiting for our meal, we munched on the complimentary chips and salsa. Love how light and crunchy the chips were and the salsa was good as well. There is also a salsa bar where you can grab your own salsa! My favorite was the avocado mild (very left at the bar). The tacos were very flavorful and very filling. I was so full after. Overall solid spot. The workers were friendly. Great ambiance. Can't wait to be back!

Eric D. S.

Yelp
This small taco shop might fool you at first glance but it's top of its class. Food was amazing, from fresh guacamole to street corn, amazing flavors in an unassuming environment! They have margaritas (choices), and classic Mexican beer. The tacos were lovely and we tried the entire collection during our meal. The staff was both fast and courteous, and we wrapped up with the churros you see pictured. If that's not blowing your mind and tastebuds then you are not alive!

Jessica S.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for a quick dinner. I was surprised by their menu selection! It was a lot bigger than what I was used to at taco spots. There were a lot of fusion like asian flavors which intrigued me. I think it was a red flag and I missed it lol. It may just be because my friend and I are from LA, but I wasn't really into the food. We ordered 2 shrimp tacos and 2 lengua tacos and an horchata. The horchata honestly tasted like cinnamon water to me lol. I'm not really one to waste but I honestly had like 2 sips and couldn't finish it lol. The chips and salsa were different. The chips were seasoned which kind of reminded me of doritos! It was pretty good. The salsa was warm which kind of put me off. I've never had warm salsa before honestly. Maybe it was fresh. The flavor was there but it just wasnt for me. The shrimp tacos was pretty good. I liked that they were generous with the avocado and the seasoning of the salsa and shrimp was great. The shrimps were a lot smaller than what I was used to but thats okay lol. My friend had the lengua tacos and I cant say for sure how it was but I know she didn't absolutely love it. It's a good fix for mexican food! It's definitely different which can be a great thing! I like it but it's not for me! But it's busy for a reason though!

Ivy C.

Yelp
Came here for a quick small bite for dinner. My friend wasn't feeling too good so we tried to find whatever that was walking distance from our place. Right when we walked in and looked at the menu I was already a bit skeptical about how this place would be. They had a pretty large selection of tacos which was alarming to me. My friend and I are both from LA and we know a good taco place when we see one and the taco places that are outstanding have very limited selection (so you know the quality has to be amazing). But I can't judge just by the menu; I went ahead and ordered a Lengua and a Korean Beef taco. Both were pretty disappointing; the lengua tasted pretty bland and had a weird texture. I order lengua pretty often so I know how it sorta should be, but it wasn't that. The Korean Beef didn't taste anything like Korean or bulgogi if that is what they were trying to go for. They also gave us chips and salsa but honestly it wasn't any good. The chips tasted a bit weird with their seasoning; I think they were trying to be different with it but probably best with just salt. Salsa was served warm which was a first for me. Never had warm salsa before? I don't get how it's warm because salsa is usually served cold and doesn't require any cooking or any sort. Cute spot and friendly staff but a spot for tacos? Probably not.

Joani O.

Yelp
Took my daughter and her roommate here for lunch. Roommate is a vegetarian so she had the cheese enchiladas with a side of rice. Daughter had steak tacos, I had one steak and one shrimp taco and we shared chips and queso. (We didn't get the free chips & salsa for dining in; was it because we ordered queso?) I was a little surprised that our bill was $65; so many people said their prices were reasonable. Perhaps because this is downtown? (South Loop area) That seemed a bit steep to me. They have a salsa station and I liked the salsa verde and the avocado. We all enjoyed our meals. I especially liked the shrimp taco. At $4.75 each, I'm just glad that I have a small appetite!

Mike B.

Yelp
Ok, if you really want the greatest tacos of all time, head a mile north to Velvet Taco. However, Taco Maya is still pretty good. It's sort of like street tacos with a little bit of a trendy twist. I had the paneer, chicken tikka, and Nashville chicken. The paneer was good, but could have used a little more paneer. There were some onions in it that added some flavor. The chicken tikka weren't as, well, tikka as I would expect. And the Nashville hot tastes more like a Buffalo Wild Wings sorta-sweet sauce in a tortilla. Speaking of tortillas, I got the flour, and they were so chewy and good. The restaurant was very clean, and the servers (it's fast casual) were very friendly. They brought my meal to the table and cleaned up the dirty plates. The free chips were delicious, warm, seasoned, and came with delicious fresh salsa. I appreciate that added bonus.

Yukie X.

Yelp
A very lowkey taco spot with overall great service and food. All orders came with chip and hot salsa, and I appreciate the salsa had a slow kick. All the staff was really welcoming and gave great menu option suggestions. They also had their own sauce bar which was neatly sanitized and labeled. I really enjoyed their Nashville Cauliflower and Chicken Tikka Taco as both packed a good spice kick to it. I also went during Taco Tuesday, which was buy 2 get 1 free! Would recommend checking it out especially on Tuesday, just make sure you beat the dinner rush if you want to dine in.

Ashraf H.

Yelp
I love the flavor and meat quality, Best part is all the tasty salsa! Great staff great people!

Felecia F.

Yelp
I will give 3 stars because, while I like the food, I don't think I have EVER gotten my food the way I ordered it when delivered. The menu gives you options to make your tacos plain, but why bother when they're going to put everything on it every time anyway. I keep trying because I like it but, I think this is the final straw as I have not been feeling good all day and was just hoping for some tacos and of course, yet again, am disappointed. Also, make a side button for pico, because if I click on it when ordering my taco, you also have no idea how to send a side, and uber doesn't believe in refunds. So thanks a lot for wasting my money and now I'll be hungry.

Betsy H.

Yelp
Pretty average Mexican food. The meat on my steak burrito was dry, like it was chopped up too long ago. The enchiladas were better. Fast service for take out which is what most people do. Zero ambiance in the dining area.

Rosanne C.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are relatively less expensive than other food in the area. I love this place.

Monica S.

Yelp
Good not great, will scratch that taco itch but may feel expensive and/or underwhelming if your reference point is a place with abundant authentic taquerias. Got the Cajun shrimp, Nashville hot cauliflower, and steak tacos. Shrimp and steak tasted okay though blander and dryer than I'm used to; was not a fan of the mayo coleslaw on the hot cauliflower and the seasoning seemed bland considering the name. Took a long time to get my order (20min?) even though there was only two other customers. The salsas and chips were unremarkable - less of a selling point than previous reviews seemed to suggest. On the plus side, they do play around with a number of non-traditional taco options, so if that appeals to you then this place might be worth a stop.

Dody E.

Yelp
This was hands down the best dining experience I've had in Chicago. 1. The food was really tasty and high quality, yet SOMEHOW... 2. The prices were incredible! So much value here. I can imagine spending triple the amount for similar quality tacos in the same area. 3. The service was the best I've ever in the city. All the staff was very friendly and generous with my group of 8 people. We sat down and received tons of complimentary chips. They were extremely kind and accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend this spot for an incredible fast-casual experience.

Stacey T.

Yelp
After the game we needed dinner and this establishment didn't disappoint. From the chips and guac to the burrito with refried beans and rice. Everything tasted fresh! Thank you Taco Maya for ending our fun evening with yummy food!

Nyah C.

Yelp
The food was really good. I ordered online but dined-in, my food came out hot, ready, and on-time. I didn't receive any utensils or sauces with my order, and none was provided on the floor. Definitely coming back to try the desserts. I went around 1pm on a Saturday, and the line was out the door so either order ahead or plan to arrive earlier!

Bill A.

Yelp
This place has some fire food and chill energy. A variety of salsas and helpful employees for any of your needs. Tortas are my favorite and this one did not disappoint! Went here after the gym and it was much needed with an ice cold cherry coke!

Amanda D.

Yelp
Located in that weird wasteland between South Loop and Printer's Row, I was really looking forward to getting some takeout from Taco Maya based on the reviews posted here. So disappointed. There is a lot of options on the menu. Product slightly (it's a very slim slightly) better than chipotle but honestly, after this, I would take Chipotle over here. Ordered chips and guac, burrito bowl and burrito dinner to go. We also ordered 2 house Margaritas for dine in while we waited. 8oz of house Margarita at 10.00 a piece (pictured below). First off, they were pre mixed and tasted like old school Tang. Second off...where do you think you are? Annoying, but hey...restaurants are trying to make due in this new normal. Got our food for take home. When we unpacked everything, I was sad to see our guacamole was missing. SO SAD. We had clearly ordered it, paid for it...is it too much to expect we receive it? This IS a new normal for restaurants - larger amounts of take out and packing bags for delivery. I get being out of practice for dine in...but you should really have your shit together for take out at this point. Mediocre food, missing items for a grand total of 70.00 (left a 20% tip at register checkout). Nope. Never again.

Isaiah R.

Yelp
friendly service & clean atmosphere. the steak fajitas were sizzling and flavorful. the espresso horchata was amazing! i also appreciated the salsa bar and being able to try different flavors.

Neesh S.

Yelp
I ate here once when it opened and then hadn't been back for a couple years, however I'm pretty glad I did. The Paneer Taco is really, really good and you can't find it at too many other places. the nachos and chimichangas are also good. The salsa bar is very clutch, and surprisingly the Avocado salsa is the best one!! The dessert we got was the fried ice cream and while it is HUGE, we couldn't stop eating it. Round that out with some great service and you have to stop by!

Karlie S.

Yelp
This is a really cute spot right off State Street in River North. The restaurant is super clean inside, bright, and inviting. When we entered the restaurant, the staff immediately greeted us and handed us menus to order from. We decided to take our food to go, and ordered the protein bowl/salad, a burrito, and a few tacos to try. The food came out quickly and the staff was kind enough to give us chips and salsa while we waited for free. my favorite part of this restaurant is definitely the salsa bar. There are about eight different salsas to try and they are all fantastic! The creamy jalapeño avocado one is to die for if you like spice. The protein salad was pretty good, but I wish it had a little something more to it, maybe rice? The tacos were great and my boyfriend enjoyed his burrito. If you like Horchata that is a must order from TacoMaya as well. I'll definitely be back for an easy weeknight dinner!

Al S.

Yelp
I mean no disrespect to this establishment but I have to be completely honest with my review. the service was nice and the restaurant was clean and had a good atmosphere but that accounts for the 1 Star I am leaving for my experience. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed when eating Mexican food in my life and coming from a Mexican, I've ate a lot of Mexican food from all around the USA. The Rice was viciously bland and incredibly 1 dimensional, ive truly had white rice with a greater sense of depth and flavor than this. the black beans were just that, just a pile of black beans, no seasonings or any additional ingredients besides the beans themselves, like opening a can of beans and sticking your fork in them to grab a bite before you actually begin to create a dish. But Unfortunately those issues pale in comparison to the worst part, which was the tacos. I ordered ground beef tacos and when they arrived I saw a mountain of a mashed up red colored substance masquerading as beef and I just knew this wasn't going to end well. but I cleared my mind and took my bite at which point my heart immediately sank. the meat tasted closer to sloppy joes than anything resembling the wonderful flavor profiles of the Mexican people. Truly I tell you that after my first taco I didnt want to continue eating as it would be an insult to my digestive system to process any more of this insult to my people. if you are Caucasian you may have a pleasant experience, because you may have created this same meal at home, but if you know what Sazón is, I would recommend trying a different establishment, or maybe just don't get the rice, or the beans or the ground beef. Maybe the other options are great but I will never know. :_ (
