This food is amazing, a true hidden gem in Austin! Everyone needs to try this place. It was my first time tasting pozole, and it was absolutely incredible—a flavor like no other. The crunch wrap was also out of this world, so flavorful and satisfying. And don’t even get me started on the burger—it completely blew me away! I couldn’t stop eating. Plus, the service was outstanding. Definitely a must-visit spot!

We tried the mahi, shrimp, barbacoa, and chicken rings tacos! All were AMAZING and so fresh. We also had the Crunchwrap and I will say it was my favorite! We topped it off with churros. The caramel inside was perfect :)

If you want your fast food actually tasty and fresh, this is a great choice. It's down in the Fairgrounds Food Hall so a bit hidden but right at the river on Congress. There are many flavor choices and nationalities but in Texas, we chose quesadillas and an enpanada. It was a bit slow but fresh. They are small but delicious. You can't go wrong. Perfect for a snack or lunch.

Taco Pegaso is tucked away in the downtown Austin Fairgrounds—aka the underground strip mall where your lunch dreams go to live their best lives. I walked in craving Mexican food like a hungover college kid craves a breakfast taco at 11:58 a.m. on a Sunday. I’m talkin’ full-body need. Like, if someone had even whispered the word “queso” in my direction, I would’ve cried. I grabbed the chicken tacos, and they delivered. Juicy, flavorful, just the right amount of spice to make your upper lip sweat a little but still keep your dignity. The service? Quick, easy, no drama. They handed me tacos like they were doing the Lord’s work, and honestly, maybe they were. I’m already plotting my return like a villain in a telenovela. Next time I’m throwing down on the rest of the menu like it owes me money. 4/5 would pegaso again.

I used to live in San Diego and now live on the east coast but come to Austin frequently. Whenever I’m here, I’m always craving good corn tortilla-style tacos but rarely find a spot that hits as well as my staples in San Diego. This place is it. Excellent Birria that’s moist but has been simmering long enough to retain succulent flavor. Grilled shrimp tacos that’ll make you believe you’re on the coast. The green salsa is spicy and pairs nicely. Price was solid. I’ll be back!

Google
Great breakfast tacos. I think they close at about 11 or 12? My bf and I got the specials - chorizo jack and NY Texan (BEC). The line does move a little slow bc the same girl who takes the orders also packages up the tacos and calls out the order so because of that, when she is packing up orders, there’s a lull with the food coming out.

Google
Could not have asked for a better meal. When I tell you the Chorizo/Beef burger was a top 5 burger I’ve ever had… I mean it. The beans and rice were phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Austin, and if you’re local… make this your to Go-To spot ASAP!!!

Flavor was amazing. Hard to come by good Mexican food when you are not in the Rio grande valley and this hit the spot! Salsa was also amazing!

Yelp
Overall: 3.9/5 [take out] We came across this stand right next to the Desnudo Cafe truck while waiting for our coffee and decided to try a breakfast taco. We ordered the New York Texan without cheese on a flour tortilla ($4.50). It was freshly made, packed with protein, and you could tell the cook was passionate about his craft by the way he tapped the food. They provided two spicy sauces (red and green) with our order, which added great flavor, especially since we skipped the cheese. Overall, it was good--something I'd happily get again if I'm in the area, though not extraordinary enough to go out of my way for.

Yelp
Went for a quick lunch. Was our first time at fairground and they have few food options. Spotted Taco Pegaso and so we ordered carne asada quesadilla. The flavors were on point, the meat was tender. Next time will ask them to add everything inside since they do put it in small containers like the sour cream and guac. For a quick lunch spot, recommend this spot.

Yelp
Was located inside of a building with a few other food options and a bar. Kind of like a mini food court. You order on a tablet which was kind of cool because you can see the food that you are ordering and see all of the extra items that you can add on. The customer service was good, they send you a text when your order is ready. The steak taco was amazing, the steak was fresh and juicy, they cook the food right in-front of you so you know that it's fresh. The Birria tacos were amazing as well, some of the best that I have had in central Texas, I just wish that it came with 3 instead of 2.

Yelp
Made a quick stop at Taco Pegaso for lunch and got the Carne Asada bowl with guacamole and red salsa. The meal portion was really good for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised at how much guacamole I got (nearly took up half the container!) The carne asada was cooked nicely and the overall taste was fresh. Will be back!

Yelp
I had some questions about the menu but couldn't get anyone's attention so we just ordered at the iPad. The food was muh, the TacoDeli down the street is better and it was so over priced!! If we ever come back I'll grab something from the Venezuelan place!

Yelp
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I decided to check out Fareground, and try something from each stall. I was so excited to try Taco Pegaso. You can luckily get flour or corn tortillas (I don't care for the corn tortillas). I ordered via the kiosk and ordered Al la carte, which was perfect for how I was eating that afternoon. I ordered the brisket taco on a flour tortilla and it was absolutely delicious. I should have ordered 2. The service was good. Definitely a must go back to.

Yelp
It's a small, yet hidden restaurant at the Fareground on Congress / 1st. This was the last stop on our local food tour and while we sat in the lounge area, we had an opportunity to try their mini New York style cheesecake topped with caramel. As we didn't have a chance to try out additional items, I was stoked to see other items like their papas fritas preparadas. (from the pic online they look like carne asada fries and if that's the case then i'll be back for sure!

Yelp
YUMM!!!! We popped in quickly for a bite before a concert at ACL Live...the brisket tacos (inhaled prior to photo... apparently my MO because I get hangry...) and shrimp tacos were SO tasty!!!! Highly recommend. We may or may not have also pre-gamed quickly at the bar in the same food court... genius!!

Yelp
The food was good and the service was satisfactory. The pina was great. My brother-in-law had a burrito and felt it needed more kick.

Yelp
I attended the Fareground for an event and had the opportunity to try Taco Pegaso. Service: quick and friendly Location: love that its located in the fareground. You have the option of sitting inside or outside in the courtyard Food: Flautas were good, quesadilla was ok, and the taco was good but pretty small. Overall, my experience was ok. Won't go out of my way for it, but if I'm in the area I'll definitely stop by.

Yelp
Clean and convenient location in a cute food court! We ordered on an electronic kiosk, service was fast! They only had a few vegetarian options, but the empanada was very good. The guacamole was fresh. This was perfect for a quick stop after a long day walking around downtown Austin. The food court bathrooms were very clean!

Yelp
Mexican restaurant inside of the Fareground Food Hall. I didn't go here specifically for Taco Pegaso but rather to try a few different spots. I am a huge taco fan and really wanted to try their take on the al pastor taco. For $10 pre tax and tip, you wait about 10 minutes to get 2 al pastor tacos. Tiny containers of salsa are extra, because, why wouldn't they be?! There were only two people working and you could see they weren't ready for the pre-lunch "rush" yet they still had time to chat while the food was sitting at the prep station, getting cold. I literally watched my tacos get plated up hot, only to sit behind 5 other orders for about 7 minutes while they waited to get sprinkled with onion, cilantro, and pineapple. When I finally got them, they were nearly ice cold, the pork was dry and overcooked, and overall, the only good thing about them was the tiny pieces of fresh pineapple. These were probably some of the worst tacos I have ever had. I did not give them a 1 star review because I feel if they were hot, they may warrant 3 stars. I'm sure there are many, very reputable taco spots in Austin but this is not one of them. If you're in Fareground Food Hall, try some of the other spots,

Yelp
This taco stand inside the food hall fare ground is cute and easy. I order the Al pastor and pork taco. The tacos are of average street taco size ranging from $4-$5. The pork taco was better than the Al pastor IMO. I liked the pineapple and fresh onion and the pork had a lot of flavor. The marinated steak inside the al pastor was a little burnt and crunchy and lacking flavor. I liked the kiosk ordering and getting a text when my food was ready. It was an easy spot if you're looking for something quick, but not the best tacos you'll find in Austin.

Yelp
Great food amazing service!!!! I was even surprised to see they had a caramelo cheesecake! Best I ever had

Yelp
Looking for a more to lower moderate priced taco place, we found Taco Pegaso at the Faregrounds eatery downtown. It was a good find. Ordering is either via cell phone or at the counter & food is made fresh while you wait either to dine in (it's pretty loud since there are a number of "take-out" restaurants right here) or outdoors (on a grassy slope or @ tables ) & get a text when your order is ready. There is a good sized menu here. We had a Chicken Tinga burrito & a Pescado burrito, both very filling & very flavorful. Waters, Jarritos & other sodas are available or, there is a (free) water dispenser w/cups available to all Faregrounds patrons.

Yelp
Everything was delicious!! Birria brisket taco was tasty. Loved the sauces and salsa. Nice service too.

Yelp
Taco Pegaso in The Fairground Austin was pretty good although a little too greasy for my liking. The al pastor tacos though are great. The queso was a thick and had I not known, I would have thought vegan queso because of its consistency but tasted good.

Frank F.

Yelp
Waited over an hour and got the wrong order. They refused to refund the order. Managed to turn several people away before they got stuck waiting forever.

Yelp
Went there yesterday for a taco, but then ended up with picadillo empanadas. These are the BEST! I have not had any this good, since Mexico. Great prices as well. The oaxaca cheese makes all the difference. Treat yourself today...but don't bring cash, it's card only.

Tom M.

Yelp
Man, what has austin become? A premade taco with a little bit of eggs and bacon for $4.50. Please post your prices on your cart.

Yelp
Taco Pegaso has recently changed management and improved the food quality, and guest experience within Faregound Austin's food hall. You'll find delicious Mahi Mahi fish tacos, Birria tacos, Chicken Tinga tacos, and more. Signature bowls and large burritos. Flavorful carne asada, or Al pastor tortas. Various sides such as papas fritas preparadas, and street corn elote ensalada. Beef, chicken or vegatarian empanadas, with delicious avocado cream sauce. They feature chef Bryan's kitchen for dessert, serving the most flavorful cheesecake in the city, or you can enjoy caramel-filled churros.

Yelp
I came to the Fareground to check out Little Wu and I found myself wanting to have a bite at Pegaso for a starter. Their chips and queso are absolute fire. The next time I come back I will have to try their tacos. If you want a fun atmosphere and a drink. Come have some tacos, and enjoy the live music Fri-Sun. $3 Happy Hour drinks from 3-6:30pm

Yelp
The man working at the front counter was very helpful. He explained the menu and made suggestions. The food was great and it was a large portion.

Yelp
We enjoyed a light snack at Taco Pegaso in the Fareground. The quesadilla de calabazita was much to be desired but the chicken tinga flautas were good. I would love to try other things off the menu and update my review. The Fareground is a great location. Beautiful views of downtown, lots of seating options to relax, and an overall great vibe.

Yelp
The food really isn't that good my taco was mediocre at best and the queso was terrible. It was actually cold but we waited so long and we're starving we ate it anyway.

Yun L.

Yelp
This place may be a hidden gem but won't be for much longer. Chef Bryan Falk is an excellent chef, everything he's delivered to my office have been met with appreciation and raved about. They have tacos, burritos, empanadas, quesadillas and then some! Want to eat healthier, turn the burritos into a delicious bowl! This way you can save some calories for the best cheesecake in town! My only problem is - I want one of each item!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered brisket tacos (two comes with one order) that totaled about $12; the size of the tacos are "street taco" sized aka very small. Extremely unhappy with the price I paid for what I got: flavor is 4stars but the price is 1star, you get my drift...
google avatar

Yelp
Fast, delicious and cheap! Had been looking for good Mexican tacos that were not Tex mex and these ones were def the best find in Austin! The birria tacos were to die for! The guac was fresh and the tortillas on point!

Yelp
5 stars from me. I went to this place a few months ago and was not impressed at all. Recently I saw they revamped the menu and changed some things up so I decided to give them a try again. And let me tell you I was not disappointed. Best Al pastor I have had in quite sometime. The salsa was very fresh and flavorful. I also tried the shrimp taco I loved that the shrimp was marinated, giving it a extra burst of flavor. I will definitely be returning again for lunch very soon. This time around I was greeted by 2 very nice young men who I believe are managers but I am unsure. However they were very welcoming and informative on the few questions I had. Delicious food, prompt service, and a friendly smile. What more can you ask for when dining out. Check this spot out, you can thank me later.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken tinga, Al pastor, and pescado all on corn tortillas. Pescado was by FAR my favorite, but all were delicious!

Yelp
Came here today with my family. Loved that it was almost empty. We had some drinks at the bar and ordered from this restaurant. We had the chips, cheese and guacamole. It was pretty good. Next time we will order more, we will be back.

Yelp
Literally the best asada taco I have ever had! And I have had a lot of tacos in my time. Also, my husband says they are the best chips he has ever had. Definitely would recommend!!

Nancyitch F.

Yelp
I heard that Taco Pegaso was under new management and while at the Faregrounds decided to give them a try. To my delight the food was really delicious and super fresh. I really enjoyed both the vegetarian and beef empanadas with the avocado cream sauce. The empanadas were super savory and juicy, and the avocado cream sauce was amazingly flavorful. I literally wanted to put it on everything. I also ordered their street corn elote salad with chips. It was a fabulous combo, super refreshing and tasty. I would highly recommend heading over here for some great eats. Don't forget to save space for a slice of Chef Bryan's famous cheesecake also being sold here. It is the most creamy delicious cheesecake you will have ever tasted. I definitely will be a repeat customer in the near future!

Riley F.

Yelp
Flavorless, pitifully small, and extremely overpriced. I ordered the birria tacos and was beyond disappointed. The meat was flavorless and dry, and the broth that traditionally accompanies birria tacos was practically water. Find tacos elsewhere. It's Austin.

Michael H.

Yelp
I had the al pastor tacos, which were good. My daughter's burrito was an absolute mess...90% lettuce, tomatoes and rice in a very sub-par tortilla. Not worth a trip back. I recommend removing burritos and bowls from the menu, stick the basic tacos which should be enough to have return traffic.
