"There’s almost always a line at Taco Pete, a solid, walk-up taco spot with L.A. origins. It sits on a funky stretch of Main Street, just a few blocks from downtown East Point. People rightfully come here for the beef and chicken tacos, packed with juicy, very well seasoned meat. The spicy chicken burrito, filled with refried beans and tender chicken, are just as satisfying. Be ready for a bit of a wait, but with a few stools outside, there’s space to sit and take in busy Main Street while you do. Food Rundown Hamburger Their burgers, especially the turkey burger, come with a rich, savory flavor that hits with every bite. Wings Aside from the tacos, the wings are the reason to drop by this spot. They’re small, crispy, and generously coated in seasoning (the lemon pepper and BBQ are standouts). Tacos The tacos are about the size of your phone and come loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, slightly spicy original taco sauce, and cheese. The meat is very well-seasoned." - Jacinta Howard

"The original Taco Pete was founded in Los Angeles in 1966. This corner-situated taco stand in East Point is its second location. Call ahead to order tacos to be ready upon arrival – an order generally takes about 15 minutes, but the flavor and prices are worth the wait. While the name promotes the tacos, Taco Pete’s wings are easily East Point’s best. They come in hot, mild, honey bbq, or lemon pepper and rival Atlanta’s most popular wings when they’re fresh from the fryer. The owners recently opened a Central Avenue bar in Hapeville called Taco Pete Bistro, which has an intimate dive feel and is expected to offer dine-in service soon after serving customers exclusively via takeout and delivery throughout the pandemic. Stuffed chicken quesadilla was really good. The nachos were just the normal stadium nachos. I think I would prefer the cheese on the side because the chips can get soggy quick. Great customer service and good food options. It isn't authentic Mexican food but will satisfy the mexican food crave.

Google
This place is usually good. I’ve had the wings a few times. The wings would be awesome if the cooks would drain the grease off. My bag was soaked in grease. The container had grease all over the bottom. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat them because the wings were extremely greasy. For a $16 combo, I would expect them to drain the grease. However, this is an easy fix to keep customers returning.

Google
This was my first time here and was well worth the wait. The young lady who took my order was very welcoming and the food was made to order. The wings were moist and very delicious. I'm definitely returning.

Glad to see y’all are open again and the remodel looks amazing. My food was great as usual. I watched the hispanic lady at the window have an attitude when my boyfriend and I ordered. However, when two white men ordered after us, the attitude seemed to suddenly go away. The food is good. Is the service like this in out in slauson too?

Google
Don’t get me wrong the food is decent and has flavor but im not sure if it’s worth the crowd, the hype, the price, the rush while also having to wait 20 mins for such a small order. Might try them again, might not idk. It was nothing to write home about.

Came here a few years ago pre-renovation and it was not great. Happy i took a chance today because the steak burrito was delicious! Flavorful and hot. Great sauce and toppings. Theres outdoor bar seating but no seats were out yet (?) service was good but the microphone system makes it hard to have your order heard without yelling. Friendly staff. Overall, ill be back!

Google
So glad they are back. One of the best Taco stands in the South East and 5 blocks from home. The new place is very smart and has a 💯 health score and it looks like it. Great, friendly staff and always delicious food. Great to see you again.

Google
Food was ready quick. Burrito was kinda small. I ordered chicken nachos. The beans that were supposed to be on there were not. The cheese was not melted or anything. I expected queso or at least melted cheese. Cold shredded cheese. Everything was cold with chips on the side. They were the kinda chips that you would get at a concession stand and they were stale and inedible. If this was a dine-in restaurant I would’ve sent my food back and left but I didn’t see or taste my food until I got home. All the toppings were pretty flavorless. The sauce added a bit of flavor but it couldn’t save it. Looking back there’s a chance they accidentally gave me the salad. The salads and nachos are together on the menu and when rung up I double checked with the girl taking my order that I was getting nachos and not a salad and she confirmed. But that would be the only explanation for what I received. There’s still no excuse for the stale chips and lack of beans. I hadn’t eaten all day and was starving. I took two bites and put it down. I want my money back.

Yelp
Yes it definitely gives me my LA vibe of the true original Taco Pete's in Los Angeles! Food was good customer service was good. My only negative is that I shouldn't have to pay for extra taco sauce I ordered two tacos and a taco burger so at least give me one for each item uugghh! The other issue is the 7 or 8 parking spot in the lot, but it is Main Street so guess it could be worse with no parking.

Tahnita C.

Yelp
Food: Great Service: Haven't had a issue yet so, good Ambience: Walk up (to go orders only) Food was the same ol school taste as usual but, only issues I had was my beef burrito was only like warm & my fries were not freshly made. With that being said, they were cold! Not good TP...yall know I put on for my state "S. Cali" but you did me wrong today. Yall have done making up to do on my next visit! For Real

Yelp
I recently went here and was wonderfully surprised at the new renovation to the place! Food was still on point and delicious! Being that they serve Mexican food adjacent to Taco Bell, and typically have a line compared to Taco Bell speaks volumes. My go to is the hard shell beef tacos and their chicken quesadilla!

Tanisha H.

Yelp
Waited a long time for them to open the location up after the construction and I really hoped the food would be the same.. but sadly it isn't. They gave me the smallest amount of rice I think I have ever seen. I had to go back and ask was that the correct amount. The asst manager fixed it, but she shouldn't have had to do that. It should have been correct from the beginning. My wings were just ok.. maybe they need a little more time getting back into the groove.. and the parking lot is still super congested. I was hoping they were going to make that a little bigger..

Matthew V.

Yelp
Just reopened.. Stopped here for lunch and ordered shrimp quesadilla, cheese quesadillas and 2 beef tacos.. Everything was really good and fresh, and cooked to order.. Friendly staff but needs to work the kinks out of the operation stuff.. Gave me the wrong order and ended up giving me the right order, and came back to give me tacos sauce that was left out the bag.. Pretty good overall experience and definitely will be back again.

Cecilia T.

Yelp
Solid. Nothing too crazy but for the price and the quantity, it's not bad. Had the beef taco salad which is basically their nachos with lettuce. It was very filling and my coworkers really enjoyed it too.

Tandra C.

Yelp
We ordered Tacos and Wings. The tacos we're just okay. That is the reason for the three stars. I order a chicken taco, beef taco and steak taco. It came with some special sauce which was good. I got my tacos without cheese I don't know if that's what made the difference but they were just okay. The show that they were in was good they put it on the grill or something it was pretty good but as far as the chicken taco it was really bland. I did not feel it was seasoned. The best taco that I had was the beef which was season good it didn't need anything extra so it was good. The steak tacos was my second best out of all three but could have been better. My husband got wings and fries the wings were delicious I think that was the best part of the whole meal. And the fries were just okay but everyone's fries are different so I won't judge too hard on those. Outside of that the customer service was good there was a little bit of a week for my food. We were probably the third people there in line but ended up getting our food after a few other people that had came because the line got really long after we arrived. But I like it for a quick pop up and grab your food. I would go back but I would not get to tacos again. As far as cleanliness from what I can see it look decent but because you drive up and park and grab your food and not go inside I couldn't really see inside of the store where they're cooking the food so I can't give a completely accurate description on that. I also would say that the food was in a decent price range my tacos were about $3 and some change for each taco. And my husband's school was not super expensive for the wings and fries. I would definitely like to go back and try something else maybe some nachos with the beef would probably be good. If I go back again I'll give you guys another review!

Yelp
Taco Pete's squandered their chance to change my mind. We visited this location over a year ago and left grossly disappointed. ALL of our food was cold, greasy, and mushy. We threw it away after a few bites - disgusted. But the 4-star reviews have always haunted and confused us. So when we saw that Taco Pete's had been demolished and rebuilt, bigger and better than ever before, with a consistent line around the block and a packed parking lot since reopening... We made the sad mistake to revisit. And let me note: I'm writing this review for anyone who might be driving by, sees this scene, and unaware of what's awaiting them - decides to stop and give it a try. We kept it simple, ordering a steak burrito, a beef hard taco, a steak flour taco, and 6 wings. "Steak" burrito - got home and it was ground beef ............. also had tomatoes, lettuce, and jalapeños - which my bf specifically asked to exclude. Beef and steak tacos - nothing special, stingy with the meat portions, but their hot sauce is good. Wings (hot buffalo) - surprisingly the best thing we tasted, but of course, they forgot to include the blue cheese. Did I mention that the only food that was hot was the wings? Ironic. And enough to piss me off actually. We waited 20 mins for food that was allegedly cooked to order and it was like warm at best when we received it. They also have a lot of nerve having a handwritten sign on the window a telling customers to make sure they check their order on the screen before paying, as if that did us any good! If it's not obvious, we will never return, and I'm severely side-eyeing EVERY 4-star+ review on here.

Yelp
This spot is Not an authentic mexican food spot. It was very misleading which is disappointing.

Carlesia B.

Yelp
The best tacos that East Point has to offer. This is the first place where I ever tried nacho fries, and you can tell that all the ingredients are very fresh. I used to come here when it was just a small shack before the pandemic, so I was excited to see the new building.

Chucky B.

Yelp
Grand Re-Opening. Parking is still limited, but people are in and out & they do get to your order in a decent amount of time. Not sure if it's allowed, but I park on the back side of the parking lot on the other restaurants parking lot since I'm usually getting my order to go. Always fresh. Always good. The new building is very nice. I like the new setup and I'm glad it's in the same location.

Cesar V.

Yelp
I have been living in East Point since 2014 and I always looked at that very small taco and wings restaurant when I went to work but I never bought anything, then I saw the beginning of the construction of the renovation of the building and that was when I decided to give it a try ,, the three tacos I ate were good, but the service of the person who took my order, I felt the tone of voice she used towards me was very loud and almost rude compared at the way she took to other Custumer order ,I don't think I can go back again.

B J.

Yelp
Spicy chicken taco street style is definitely fire! Nice location and set up .service also quick.

Khallida K.

Yelp
Make sure you check your order on the screen before they complete the transaction. I ordered fries and three "bean" tacos, but received three "beef" tacos." The fries were good though.

Andrew J B.

Yelp
a little bit of LA dropped right into East Point. worth every bite . tacos are excellent

A H.

Yelp
First and last time. Cashier seemed irritated because I asked for beef nachos. I was told there was no such item only chili cheese / with sour cream and peppers. As you can, no sour cream or peppers. The beef, chicken, and steak listed on the menu only pertains to the taco salad. With that being said, she allowed me to order cheese nachos and add chicken, but for whatever reason the same didn't apply when I placed my order for beef.

Yelp
This restaurant reopened on april 25th. 2024..they built a brand new location...i arrived today around 4pm.on april 26th Saturday..it was not that crowded..however guest were complaining about the long wait to get their food...my actual wait was 28 minutes, before my number was called to get my 2 beef hard shell tacos...1 hot dog..and 1 serving of coleslaw...food orders were called out randomly...example number 180 was called before 167....177 was called after 155....the staff seemed unprepared, and poorly trained to deal with their recent grand opening...as i got to my location to eat,i noticed not spoon,or fork was in the bag,for my coleslaw...no napkins...no taco sauce..etc....the taco meat was not seasoned well, taco bell tacos taste better...the hotdog, was poor quality pork meat, and it was the smallest hotdog, ive ever purchased..,it was completely over saturated with ketchup.....poor customer service...Be advised....many customers stated this restaurant didn't have many of these issues at their older previous location..

Kai D.

Yelp
Looking for something good to eat in the area, I came here because someone recommended this spot. I noticed it was a line of people so I automatically knew the food was going to be good. They did not have a long menu of items. Just basics like hot dogs, sides, drinks and of course Tacos. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos with everything that come on it. The red sauce that come w. It was good and brought all the ingredients together. I highly recommend coming here because it is worth the wait. I will definitely come back and try the taco salad and the hot dogs.

Auriel W.

Yelp
Tacos were very small, 2 bites and your done... I had the shrimp taco it was actually pretty good, but like I said it was over by the first bite... I also got the steak taco,,which seems like a cheap quality steak almost reminded me of dog food, because it was more on the pot roast side... for the price the shells need to get a little bit bigger...

Yolanda W.

Yelp
Yummy. Pico de Gallo fresh. Crisp to the bite. Will definitely return. Hotdog split and grilled. Not sure if they have sauerkraut ... for the next time!

Angelica D.

Yelp
Taco Pete is SO good! While not "authentic " Mexican tacos, their Americanized style tacos are delicious. The tiny restaurant is located in East Point not too far from Hartsfield Jackson airport. This place gets busy, so be patient. Their motto is " we don't serve fast food, we serve great food as fast as we can". They have a few tables set up outside to dine at, but most people take their food to go. I arrived before 12 pm and the service was prompt and I got my food in a timely manner. During this visit I ordered a hard shell ground beef taco, a soft shrimp taco and an order of fries. My food was hot and fresh when I received it and everything was awesome. The tacos were packed with flavor. They also have a variety of other items including burgers and wings. I've had their wings previously and they are pretty tasty. I'm kind of glad that they're not near my home because I would be here all of the time, lol! I've heard negative reviews about the customer service, but the service was good in my opinion. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable.

Ashley S.

Yelp
So, I'm not sure what happened after y'all opened back up from COVID but, I literally just left this spot and the young lady at the counter (attitude is on ..you need to go home for the rest of the day). I'm not the only one who noticed. Others in line as well saw it. Anyway, I purchased a turkey burger and a steak taco. Didn't have to go far because I was washing clothes right next door. Got in my car and drove to the laundromat. Started to eat my food and it was like Luke warm. I started to go back up there but frankly, I wasn't even in the mood. Didn't want to deal with the girl at the counter to pass off her negative energy my way and I was hungry as all hell! To add on, it was very bland. Probably be a minute before I come back tbh! Hopefully my expectations and experience will be better next time.

Michael A.

Yelp
I gotta say, I was rather disappointed with the quality of service and the taste of the food. The nachos with chicken were served with this movie theater, nacho cheese that was slopped all over the chips, which created a lovely mess. The beef tacos if this is even possible, had barely any color and little to no seasoning as well as the chicken that was served in the taco that was also served on the chicken nachos with no flavoring as well. We've been waiting for this place to open since the rebuild started and it was absolutely disappointing.

Bia T.

Yelp
Taco Pete basically reminds me of how taco's are made in my hometown of L.A. California! They prepare taco's just like my folks did growing up... Do yourself a favor and stop by, you won't be dissapointed! B

Allicia S.

Yelp
Good seasoning; service needs work! Three stars solely on well marinated tacos purchased yesterday. Flavor is paramount in my reviews, but MUST be accompanied by good service. Not necessarily great, but good allows repeat clients and is a minimum requirement for businesses to thrive, not just survive! I had driven by this East Point establishment several times, and usually observed a line of customers eagerly awaiting opportunity to place their orders. Taco Pete's came to mind when I thought about dining options yesterday. I was nearby and navigated quickly to location. Parking was limited as it sits on a weird corner, but was able to nab one of the few spots available. Line wasn't too long when I arrived and placed order after short wait. Got two shrimp soft tacos and one chicken soft taco. I asked order taker if possible to get without onions and cheese. She said yes, and heard her communicate to cooking staff. As I waited, I texted my child to ask if she wanted anything. Response was shrimp taco with rice and beans. Returned to window (it's a walk up spot) and asked about adding to order. The sign listed rice separately and beans separately per attached, but order taker stated it was a combination of the rice and beans. Asked to add to order, but not sure what her response was to request. She mumbled something and closed window. I later discovered that it was close to closing (the was at 7 pm on a Friday) as others arriving were turned away. Received my original order and proceeded home to make own arroz con frijoles to accompany my tacos, and share with child. The seasoning was on point, especially the nice sized, deveined shrimp one. Chicken was good too. Did not like the cheese and onions on all orders though. (Thankfully I was not allergic to either item specifically asked not be included.) Asked for onion removal because onions are usually not cooked and not a fan of crunchy onions. The cheese exclusion was due to slight cold and fact that dairy causes mucus, which I have been actively fighting to rid from my body. Smh. The soft taco shell was also greasy, and probably reason I observed several patrons eating in their vehicles upon receipt of food. My shells did not last the less than 10 minute drive home. Thank goodness the contents were seasoned and satisfied my taco craving. As signage shows, Taco Pete's also has a myriad of offerings. May visit again when not under the weather and can eat upon receiving.

Carlos D.

Yelp
Taco Pete, has in my opinion some of the best tasting tacos in the Atlanta area. It's more like a taco stand..There isn't much parking available, so I normally park across the street at the Taco Bell..The service is friendly but be prepared to wait a while, they are always very busy..

Lakisha S.

Yelp
So I'm lost in how I was treated today the cashier was very very rude . Making smart comments. Closing the window when he called my name. Even other customers where looking and shaking their heads this my last time eating here.

Shanna L.

Yelp
I've driven past here for years and never stopped. Well that all changed bcuz I will frequent this place from now on. The name itself has been having a big buzz more now than ever for some reason. I ordered a hard shell chicken taco w/ sauce on the side for my appetizer. Super delish! Also, needed to try the wings bcuz we live in Atlanta where we are known for our wings! This LA based company did the damn thing. Adaptation spot on. Very meaty, nice sized wings. To add, I ordered a side of beans for my son. Nice flavor. && for the main dish, I ordered a stuffed steak quesadilla that came w/ taco sauce and sour cream on the side. I ate half for lunch the next day. Super filling! Overall, it leaves you wanting more. Reminds me of cartoon food. lol

Amber M.

Yelp
Dispute the bad reviews, my food was delicious snd correct . I ordered the chicken soft tacos & quesadilla. Cooked to order , seasoned to perfection. Yummy yummy yummy !!! Parking is very tight

LA P.

Yelp
Their system went down during my first visit here. They are out of LA and the food is pretty good they have turkey burgers, hamburgers, chicken wings, chili dogs, tacos, burritos, etc. If you have a special order make sure you double check and triple check your order before you leave!

Tommie G.

Yelp
Taco Pete is a small stand right in the middle of the city. They've got enough parking to make it simple and a few tables outside if you want to eat out there, but for the most part it's a window - you make your order, wait, then leave. I've only had the tacos (soft shell) here so far, but each time I have - they've been delicious. There's 4 options: Beef, Chicken, Steak, and Shrimp. I'll say that 3 of them will fill you up, but hey YOLO go for the 4th too. Seriously, good tacos and about 8 people in front of me ordered wings, so I'm going to assume that they're good; especially since a standard wing place is less that 11 steps in front of it and they didn't go there.

Chris O.

Yelp
First time I've ever ate here and I'm mad that they are closing down for the next 6 months while they remodel the tacos were amazing . You go up and place your order and wait for your name to be called . I recommend this over Taco Bell any day . Very good authentic tacos. Will be back!! 10/10

L'Mika K.

Yelp
I've been loving this place since my first encounter in 2018! From their delicious saucy/dry wings depending on how you want it, to their scrumptious tacos I love taco Pete's food! I even arrived near closing time before and was STILL accommodated, isn't that bomb! I've purchased the quesadillas, wings, tacos and nachos all from here and it was full of flavor each time. Def a must have when I'm in east point!

Deonna N.

Yelp
Just as the previous reviewer mentioned , the cashier was very rude . This was going to be my first time trying taco Pete after a recommendation from a friend and he was being rude to both of us . Since I was a new patron , I had questions about toppings on the tacos which is not displayed on outside menu. When we inquired his exact words were " What does that menu say ?" We tell him it doesn't display and then he proceeds to give us the detailed menu . So we step to the side to review the menu he opens the second window and yells " You pick up here , and order here!" There's no way I can patronize a business with an employee who treats customers as if we are headaches .

Charmekia P.

Yelp
The food is always amazing no matter what you order . The chili cheese dog is the best in the business. Tacos 5 star

Raisa S.

Yelp
Yea, so Taco Pete. "Great Food as Fast as We can" (the sign above the window as you order) ... how about as slow as we can" I understand the demand. I understand wanting the food to be hot and fresh, but dammit it doesn't take 45 minutes for 4 tacos! ....and don't blame it on the lunch rush b/c if you know you're going to have one, that's even more reason for the biz to have it together...ready and prepared for the hungry patrons - who btw clearly keep coming regardless of how long it takes. But not today Taco Pete. Not today. This is it! Btw: im still waiting as I write this review. ‍‍ #lostagoodcustomer #getittogether #nottoday #notevw

Yelp
Wings and Tacos! I ordered a 20 piece of lemon pepper wings which were on the small side but pretty flavorful. My friend ordered her usual for her and her 2 kids: 4 chicken soft tacos and 2 beef soft shell tacos. I ordered a taco salad, no shell or beans. The ordering process was a bit frustrating. We called while in route a few dozen times but no one answered the phone. So we had to order at the window. The food was ready in 10 minutes or so. Everything was yummy and a great value.

Bill M.

Yelp
I love your food and I think it is probably one of the best window service taco places in the city. But the only reason why I give you two stars is you guys will not answer your phone and then I have to come and stand in line and wait for my car. I really wish you guys would just pick up the phone. Today I tried to call once again and you didn't answer the phone so I went somewhere else. I look back on my phone history try and call you guys on the number listed on the Internet and in the last year I have called you guys 263 times I will not call again. I have gone to the other place down the street now at least three dozen times because you will not answer your phone. I don't know day when it's raining and last thing I wanna do is stand in line. Answer your phone

Glenda B.

Yelp
This place may be classified as a hole in the wall taco stand but my God that is so not the case as far as the food is concerned. Let me just say this, I ordered two beef hard shell tacos and a Shrimp Stuffed Quesadilla and I forgot to take pics of it because the food was calling my name. One bite of my Quesadilla and I was in Mexican Food Heaven. The blend of Jalapeño peppers, cheese, fresh cilantro, onion and tender grilled shrimp had me in another world. It comes in 4 pieces. I coukd only eat 3 of them. The grilled shrimp are a nice size, never rubbery and nicely seasoned. My tacos are truly the bomb! The flavors just take you there seriously. The funny thing is there is a Taco bell chain across the street that have nothing on this place whatsoever. All I'm going to say is the flavor will explode as soon as you take one bite. #100

Lois E.

Yelp
I'm surprised Taco Bell is still in business against this competitor. One of the Best Authentic street tacos in metro ATL.

Sean B.

Yelp
This is one of the BEST restaurants in East Point. It is family owned and all of the locals eat here. You should check it out. Great service. I just miss living down there...This was my favorite place to eat. If you are a visitor staying overnight at a hotel...this place is worth a taxi ride. Xoxo

Mia H.

Yelp
I reallyyyyyyyy like Taco Pete but tonight really made me change my mind. I ordered a 6 piece wing combo and only received 5 wings. Attempted two calls to reach someone about this matter. Both attempts were unsuccessful with no option to leave a voicemail. You guys have been in business too long to make simple mistakes like. Although it's only one wing it's a wing I paid for. The wings were delicious just don't appreciate that ONE wing missing :( !!

Khalilah A.

Yelp
My daughter and I called in our order for pick up, not familiar with the area. We ordered 2 chicken tacos that were delicious and we also ordered a shrimp quesadilla which was a little expensive for what we got, it could have used a little more seasoning but overall we were happy with our experience

Yelp
I have tried their shrimp quesadilla which is so good and their tacos are pretty good with that sauce on the side. I hear they have really good burgers I'm definitely gonna try them. They're just usually very packed during lunch hours

Yelp
Stopped by Taco Pete while out Ubering because i'd seen a number of times while in College Park. They have a number of menu items but if Taco is in the name, you gotta try them. I ordered 3 beef tacos and they came out pretty fast. Given the looks I got from others who had ordered before me I guess it was fast since I received my order before they did. The soft tacos we're good not great. As you can see from the photos they were slightly greasy and were a tad bit spicy. Not sure exactly where the spice was coming from but I did not necessarily like it. If I want heat, I prefer to add it my self. All in all good tacos with from a convenient taco stand with outdoor seating.

Yelp
Always delicious and expertly seasoned! I had a shrimp & steak quesadilla! It's well worth the wait!

Yelp
Whoever was taking orders today it's was awful .. told her I didn't want any lettuce on my tacos four times and she ask me 3 times and they still got it wrong .. and whoever the manger is was very rude... then going say it ain't nothing they can do .... I know my little 50 dollars a month i spend might not mean nothing but they just lost a customer... I have been coming here for years and this is the worst it has ever been and the food was cold .. smh never would come here again

Yelp
Yuck! Greasy sloppy mess of food. There's some great authentic Mexican places around the area and I'm disappointed I wasted my time here. Ground beef that felt like they stole it from the Taco Bell across the street. Just avoid it man...
