Best Restaurants in Austin’s Rosedale Neighborhood | Eater Austin

"While not the most authentic taco experience, the massive taco chain is an Austin classic for a reason: super solid breakfast tacos — and, oh, that doña salsa, which is all available at its Rosedale location. Order the Otto (organic refried black beans, double bacon, avocado, and jack cheese). Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Darcie Duttweiler

Tacodeli - Rosedale - Review - Rosedale - Austin - The Infatuation

"Tacodeli’s breakfast tacos are solid bets. The Jess Special—combining migas, jack cheese, and avocado—is possibly one of the more iconic (and tasty) breakfast tacos in town. They also do a killer sirloin, egg, and cheese taco, and their doña salsa will light your mouth on fire in the best way. Their lunch tacos are very good, too, and sway more towards the traditional Mexican offerings.  You may pay a dollar or so more than the average taco here, but you get higher-quality everything. The North Lamar location is most convenient if you’re looking for something during the work day. Just expect a line—don’t worry, it moves quickly. photo credit: Roger Ho" - Adele Hazan

UPDATE 2: The drink saga and avocado continues. They are again sending out incorrect drinks in door dash orders. This has been going on for years. I let taco deli know via email as shown in my attached screenshots, and they make no effort to correct the issue. Also again the avocado is moldy. UPDATE: Went out on a whim to try again today. This time the wrong sauce. The employee who replied to my original review said to reach out to make things right. If they had read my original review, they would know that it specifies I've reached out numerous times. I've attached a photo where she stopped replying months ago. ————————————- Absolutely disgusting. I can't believe they feel comfortable serving this. I don’t mind some bruised avocados, but it’s very obvious this is to the stage of molding and a health hazard. Also my drink flavor was wrong. I've emailed this restaurant many times about the issues they have with sending out the wrong drink in Door Dash orders, yet it still occurs. I've lost faith they'll ever get it together.

Amazing tacos! Fast service. I placed the order online with ease. Gave me extra green sauce this I love!

AMAZING….breakfast tacos. The ingredients are always fresh. I have so many favorites (Sirloin, egg & cheese, The Otto, Jess Special) just to name a few. The tacos are so delicious I forgot to add the salsa.

Google
I paid for an Otto taco to go, which is supposed to come with beans, cheese, avocado, and bacon. When I got home only beans and a little cheese were on the taco. I reached out to customer service and they said I could come back in for an Otto taco “on them”. Considering I already paid for the taco that was missing the 2 main ingredients, I don’t consider it a gift. The customer service is lacking and quality seems to be going downhill.

Stopped by the Tacodeli location on Lamar when the area recently at dinner time. We've moved out of the city, so it's a treat we don't enjoy often. We've been huge fans of Tacodeli for years. The tacos and queso are OUTSTANDING! IMHO... LOL The ingredients are always fresh, the salsas are very good as well. The Lamar location has plenty of outdoor seating too, to be enjoyed almost year-round here. So glad they've expanded their hours to cover dinner as well! Highly recommend Tacodeli any time of day!

Google
I love this place and am coming here so much because it’s right down the road from where my nana is staying in the hospital. Today was a little upsetting when I ordered a 6$ taco (after tax) only to get to the hospital and see 3 Tiny pieces of beef on half the taco. I’m not a huge breakfast person so the meat was what I was looking forward to most. Please please I’m begging y’all don’t let me down again. I don’t even want to be in Austin but circumstances are placing me here for the time being. These tacos are the only thing I look forward to and to be so let down was soul crushing this morning. Especially since every place in Austin puts a suggested tip and you feel like a jerk if you don’t. So essentially I overpay for this every time.

Google
Great experience ordering 25 tacos ahead of time! Perfect service and great people. Oh and the tacos are the bomb!

Tacodeli on South Lamar in Austin TX is the best one I’ve ever had. The food is always fresh, warm and good portions. I love the Tacodeli Bowl and Ensalada bowl with steak!

Yelp
Let Tacodeli suprise try a taco you would not normally try and be amazed. They may have the best salsas in all of Austin be it Verde, Roja or Dona (I am afraid of the Habanero so I can't review). There is huge fan following on their Dona. But for me they have a secret weapon they use on a lot of their tacos, it's their organic refried black beans, you can buy it as a dip. It's very good and so satisfyingly smooth. So smooth it's magical. For breakfast tacos try the "Otto"(with dona) or if you're a vegetarian - "Freakin Vegan" (Dona or Roja) or if you're doing a protein thing get the "Sirloin, Egg & Cheese" the sirloin is not skimpy nor a cheap cut (good with either Dona or Roja). I have had every one of their breakfast tacos and they are all delicious. I think the Otto has been rated in several reviews as one of the best breakfast tacos in Austin. My old go to order was "Sirloin, Egg & Cheese" without cheese on double corn and the "Freakin Vegan" on double corn both with either Dona or Roja depending on the mood and how hot I want it; yeah, that was a messed-up order but that's how good the "Freaking Vegan" is. My kids like the Otto and "bacon Egg and Cheese" they are traditionalist. Lunch and dinner tacos it's too hard this is where I am saying be adventurous and try something different. My first experience with Tacodeli was the Cowboy and I was hooked ever since. One lunch, several years ago, I walked into a Tacodeli and non-calanthe order their Tuesday special, which was the Cowboy, I loaded it with their Dona sauce and was hooked. Later I took my family there, they were hooked. Once when my dad came to visit, I took him there, he loved it, and he was a San Antonio taco snob. As I have gotten older, I am eating more vegetarian and every one of the vegetarian tacos are fantastic. One in particular order for me is the "Space Cowboy" no fresco queso, add refried black bean on double corn. My wife is a Tacodeli fanatic, she has very specific dietary needs. She cannot eat diary or gluten and Tacodeli completely meets her needs. She builds her own taco almost every morning. She orders it in the morning, picks it up on the way to work and eats it for lunch. It's a taco bowl mostly with organic refried black beans, avocado, pico de gallo and a protein of her but she prefers double chicken. Sometimes she will order tacos on corn too. Because they treat her right, she is very loyal to the Taco Deli on Lamar (The one that is close to 45th street Chilis and next to Uchiko). They are very courteous to her and know her by name. She loves them. Matter of fact I can't get her to go any other place.

Yelp
Came in at 6:45 on a Wednesday morning. Ordered 6 breakfast tacos. Employees were nice, but nobody apologized, gave me a heads up, or even acknowledged that I waited 20 min for 6 tacos with nobody else in the store. They were more worried about making their to go tacos then making my order. Why spend :20 min when I can drive 5 min in every direction and get same or better. Will not be back.

Yelp
As a long time Tacodeli fan, the other day would be my last. I have been frequenting Tacodeli for over 10+ years now and I am so disheartened they would betray me. I go here at least a couple times a week, on my way to work to grab some tacos to-go. I saw a couple of days ago they had gotten some new wrappers on the to-go tacos, no biggie right. That's where I would be wrong. These are an absolute NIGHTMARE to try and pry open. I tried to give these new wrappers a chance, but they are essentially child locked. Further than child locked. It is impossible to NOT destroy the entire taco while trying to pry these horrible things open. My wife, who is good at everything, can't even open these. They have exploded in my car multiple times because of how downright AWFUL these wrappers are. The ONLY time that the taco has stayed intact in these, was CUTTING OPEN THE WRAPPER WITH SCISSORS............. Not to mention, they taste completely different. These are NOT the same as the original to-go tacos. I usually get a BEC and PEC, the eggs taste like chlorine on both and the bacon is burnt so bad it's black. The tortillas are soggy, the potatoes are not up to their usual standard, and all around just gross. And the cherry on top- the taco simultaneously gets stuck to the wrapper so it's just falling apart in your hands. I could go on and on about how horrible these new wrappers are. I will unfortunately NEVER come back to Tacodeli after being a long time customer and will let my friends know to do the same. Please go back to the original delicious to-go tacos you've kept the same for years. ~Sincerely, Devastated Devin

Yelp
It has been a while since I've been to Tacodeli. Today, I decided to give it a whirl. You have a choice between premade tacos and ones custom ordered. Of course, I thought I would try a custom taco of potato, avocado and sausage. The taco was was made with a running mashed potato mixture which made all the ingredients fall out of the taco shell. It had to be worst taco I've eaten in a very long time. Growing up in San Antonio where tacos are supreme, this was a very disappointing taco experience. Likely will not be returning to Tacodeli any time soon...

Yelp
Ordered To-go and had everything except my iced coffee ready to go. Sometimes I prefer to have my drinks prepared before I arrive due to having issues with not receiving the drinks, but they remembered thankfully! I feel the prices are a little steep.. a bean and cheese taco is $4.20! I added a medium side of beans ($3.55) and a side of cheese ($1.80) for about the same cost of one taco so I can make more at home instead of paying $4.20 for each individual taco. I mean come on.. $1.80 for a small container of cheese?! The beans and cheese taco was great - love black refried beans The Mexico City chicken taco was ok - the chicken was rubbery (the way it gets when you freeze it and thaw it sometimes) The queso is amazing! - not like the fake cheesy stuff you get at taco cabana The chips were pre-bagged and I actually love that because it ensures freshness and allows us to enjoy them longer. No more stale chips! Id say 4/5 but most likely will not be ordering so much again due to the price and quality of food.

Yelp
My go-to place for tacos. I get the blue plate special-- two tacos with the excellent black refried beans and rice. Plenty of Dona and habanero sauce. It's the right amount of food for me and not so heavy that I don't feel like getting back to work. Drawbacks are that it's a little pricier than I'd like, but they do use high quality, local ingredients. Wait times can be a little long. I eat there weekly and haven't had a bad experience. (Also, I like the mashed potatoes on the breakfast tacos.)

Yelp
Well, I am a fan of Tacodeli but this was an off day. I picked up 3 Frontera fundido chicken tacos for dinner. They were super salty and inedible. I ended up junking all of them.

Yelp
Love it!! It's my 4th time in this location and it's so cozy and welcoming even with some limited spacing, but enough for a small party size! Staff was great and efficient!

Yelp
Came here the day after X-Mas. Last visited: Dec' 23. Ordered: - CHILE EN NOGADA -- Special for X-mas. Pork with pomegranate seeds. Choice with whole wheat taco (healthy option). - COWBOY -- Beef. Choice on corn tortilla (healthy option, gluten free) And a cup for water. Enjoyed the CHILE EN NOGADA taco more. Pomegranate is one of my favorites. Ground pork went will with it too. COWBOY was ok, but steak pieces not to my liking. It was passable. Overall, decent food here especially when running on empty stomach after a short hike. Will rate 3.5/5 stars, and further it was great they are open on the 26th which is holiday for most spots.

Yelp
My team eats here a lot. I order on the way into work somedays. The app is easy to use and the orders are done right. Fast and friendly is easy to say but it seems to be less common other places. Tacodeli get it right.

Yelp
A visit to Austin was made so much better with MANY visits to Tacodeli! The hot sauces were delicious. Yummy tacos. And the blood orange basic aqua frescas - oh! Friendly super helpful service in a welcoming-feeling space.

Yelp
Amazing tacos! We fall in love with this place from day one of our 7 day visit in Austin because of the incredible food and have been here every day since, lol! Fresh and tasty tacos! Good size and great value! Friendly and fast service! Clean and comfortable seatings! Supreme quality business model for fast food industry!

Yelp
Solid place for your tacos fix. I am not Hispanic nor did I grow up eating tacos or Mexican food. I have little knowledge of what authentic tacos are like but I got a feeling its not what this place serves. It doesnt mean the tacos are bad though. I tried the shrimp and pork shoulder tacos - both are decent sized, very saucy and well seasoned. The pork one has a good amount of grease to it. My bf got the beef, pork belly and salmon and he didnt love his salmon. the fish pieces were falling apart and not firm enough. The salmon taco was also super greasy. Horchata is tasty and not overly sweet. They have outdoor seating too which is nice on a cool day/night. The woman who served us was super nice and friendly, the other staffs were very kind too. Overall nice experience

Yelp
My how you have fallen Tacodeli. I hadn't been in a non-airport location in a while. I've hit up the Tacodeli breakfast tacos at the airport, which tasted like airport food, but I figured that's just the airport location. But I went into a Tacodeli outside the airport yesterday and realized all the locations are airport food quality now. I paid $5.50 for a shrimp taco with 4 tiny shrimp in it and another $5.50 for a steak taco that had a sliver of steak in it. The store was empty, but I waited 20 minutes for a to go order. Dona sauce, is still amazing, but the taco was barely big enough to hold any sauce. On the plus side, when I get a soggy airport taco I won't feel like I'm missing out on something better because I'm at the airport.

Yelp
I really wish they used fried potatoes, instead of mashed potatoes in tacos Bust be a reason

Yelp
I'm a little disappointed by the general quality of these tacos. I ordered the drunken pork taco (non-breakfast style) and the pork belly tacos. They seemed a little sloppily made, as the pork belly was not even centered in my tortilla - it was completely flopping to one side. The pork belly was well cooked but did not have any additional flavors. I felt like the tortilla added a lot of blandness and detracted from the pork belly. As for the pork taco, again not much flavor and had an unbalanced amount of raw onions. My whole tray in general had a layer of raw onions just sitting around the tacos. Pretty disappointing, even though I like the interior and patio area around this location. The tacos were just not filling and tasty at all. Just a couple other small things: The parking lots are a little tough to navigate as you cannot drive between the different lots. The lot right in front was surprisingly full even though there was no other customers inside the restaurant. They also did not accept apply pay/ card tap to pay, which I feel like most restaurants should do nowadays. Slight inconvenience if you are a frequent apply pay user.

Yelp
Fantastic menu. Fantastic food. Very fresh and tasty. I will be back. Best Tacos in Austin.

Yelp
Visiting Austin, TX for the first time, I learned that breakfast tacos (corn or flour tortillas stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheese, meat, sautéed veggies) are iconic to Texas as Mickey Mouse is to Disneyland. In fact, its 85th Legislature designated the breakfast taco as its official state breakfast item of TX. It is of no wonder that the birthplace of breakfast tacos is Austin. Opened on 11/8/99 in Austin, TX, Tacodeli serves creative, handcrafted tacos that are made fresh daily from locally sourced ingredients from local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. Co-owners Roberto Espinsosa and Eric Wilkerson were college buddies at the University of TX, with Roberto being born and growing up in Mexico City and bringing his Mexican taco heritage to TX, and Eric having some restaurant consulting experience. Tacodeli is unique to Texas and has 12 locations: Austin (7), Dallas (2), Plano (2), Houston (1). They also participate in local farmers' markets. Tacodeli has an extensive menu of tacos that you can mix and match with any meat, veggies, eggs, cheeses, etc. They use high quality ingredients sourced from local growers. Their sauces are all housemade. Daily specials are offered, and the menu changes periodically with new items added and existing items deleted. We came for a take-out order for breakfast and were amazed at the huge variety of menu items. Breakfast includes and are not limited to: * The Otto: refried black beans, double bacon, avocado, jack cheese. * Barbacoa Madruguera: braised beef cheek, eggs, salsa, green onion. * Akaushi Picadillo & eggs: ground beef, eggs, jack cheese, salsa, cilantro. * Sirloin, eggs & cheese. * Migas taco: scrambled eggs, tomato, onion, jalapeno, tortilla chips, jack cheese. * Jess Special: migas, jack cheese, avocado. * Fundido: chicken or sirloin, jack cheese, peppers, onions. * Vaquero: scrambled eggs, grilled corn, roasted peppers, jack cheese. * Bacon, egg, & cheese. * Chorizo, egg & cheese. * Sausage, egg & cheese * Bean & cheese. * Vegan: refried black beans, avocado, pico de gallo. * Build your own: mix and match ingredients. The lunch and dinner menu is no slouch either, as it includes: * Chicken tacos: mix & match w/ roasted green chile sauce, green onion, cheese glazes, cilantro, mushrooms, housemade mole, queso fresco. * Beef tacos: mix & match w/ grilled corn, onions, peppers, guacamole, cheese glazes, avocado, cilantro, salsa. * Pork tacos: mix & match w/ salsa, cilantro, onions, avocado. * Vegetarian tacos: mix & match w/ queso fresco, refried black beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, portobella mushrooms, cheese glazes, cauliflower, grilled corn, onion, roasted peppers, sweet potato. * Seafood tacos: salmon, shrimp w/ various sauces, guacamole, pico, avocado, cheese glaze. * Various salads: mix & match with romaine, guacamole, avocado, sour cream, pico, jack cheese, onion, tomato, queso fresco, bell pepper, rice & beans, chicken, sirloin, salmon, picadillo, Puerco verde. * Soup: housemade chicken broth, chicken, tomato, jalapeno, tortilla chips, avocado, cilantro, onion. * Appetizers: street corn w/ diced red onion, queso fresco, cilantro, bacon bits; tortilla chips w/ queso, guacamole, pico, ground beef, salsa. For breakfast, Hubby and I ordered the Migas and the Jess Special with the soft corn tortilla. The fillings in the tacos were very generous, with lots of fluffy scrambled eggs, tomato, onion, jalapeno, bits of tortilla chips, jack cheese, and avocado. The tacos were freshly made, warm, and tasty. These breakfast tacos are fresh, delicious, creative, and healthy and are not the typical Tex-Mex tacos at Taco Bell, which we have in HI. While waiting for our order, we were impressed with the self-service station of Tacodeli's four housemade sauces: * Salsa verde: green and mild * Roja: red, smoky flavor, medium heat * Dona: the hottest, award winning with jalapeno and garlic, green in color. * Habanero: the hottest You can take all four sauces if you want to match your preference of heat and flavor. Also impressed with the variety of drinks: tequila, beer, Kombucha tea, soft drinks. Staff are friendly, patient, smiling and welcoming. We were overwhelmed with the number of choices, and staff answered all our questions. It was fairly busy on a weekday morning, but heard that long lines form on the weekends and is a popular dining spot. Order online to avoid the lines. Hours are weekdays 7a to 9p, breakfast 7a to 11a; Sat/Sun 8a to 9p, breakfast 8a to 3p. Sign up for their loyalty program to earn free tacos. The spacious restaurant has tables/chairs inside and outside if you want to dine in. I loved the wooden laminated tables of colorful Mexican artwork. Free parking in their private lot. I'm glad that we got to experience this Austin staple! We enjoyed Tacodeli for its high quality of food, local sourcing, attention to detail, freshness, and the many creative menu choices! A great place for locals and visitors!

Yelp
Just ordered Togo from here. Not only did they add onions to the Mexico City Tacos after I asked for NO ONIONS, it's mixed in with the cilantro and I can't take them off without removing the cilantro as well. Why the heck did y'all add mushrooms?!? It doesn't even come with that. I hate this stupid taco place. Just gentrified tacos for stupid rich white pieces of crap.

Rebeca G.

Yelp
Great tacos and good service every time! The vaquero and the Jess are two of my favorites but the beab and cheese are my kiddos' favorites.

Yelp
Saw this place as I was headed to Central Market in Austin. Superior tacos! Hot, fresh & made to order! I had the migas taco, porkbelly deli, and the mexico city sirloin. All were amazing! Especially the delibelly. It had a honey tomatillo-serrano salsa, that gave a sweetness to each bite. Really tasty! Customer service was pretty good, and the food came fast & was hot. I'll be back to try some other tacos!

Yelp
One of my go to taco joints. Since the arrival of taco trucks to Austin, people seem to have increased the snobbery and knock tacodeli which maybe is more a comment on the wealth of good tacos in this city rather than on tacodeli itself. This place has become a staple for me in my 16 years in Austin. Their breakfast tacos are great but I usually come here for lunch and dinner. My favorite tacos on their menu are their cowboy, frontera fundido sirloin, and delibelly. Always fresh tasting and always predictable. Their queso is above average as are thier chips. The lynchpin for this whole operation is their Dona sauce. That goes on everything and I'm so glad they sell it. Their margaritas have always been tasty and strong. It's a great neighborhood restaurant and they kept us fed and happy during the pandemic. Highly recommend!

Mary A.

Yelp
On Sunday, my family and I went to eat at your restaurant after the Austin Marathon. We've eaten at your North Lamar location a few times but, we primarily frequent the Burnet Road location. Any way, when have "mashed potatoes" been considered a typical Tex Mex breakfast taco option? I ask because my husband ordered me a custom taco which consisted of bacon, egg, cheese and potatoes. We thought the potatoes would be either diced, home fries, hash browns, etc... He also ordered one of these tacos for himself. Needless to say, when we took our first bite, we were disgusted to find a heaping helping of mashed potatoes, very little eggs, 2 strips of bacon and a smidge of cheese. I could not eat my taco. It just wasn't palatable. I'm 62 years and I'm Hispanic and never in my lifetime have mashed potatoes been a traditional Mexican breakfast option. I truly think you guys should consider removing mashed potatoes from the menu and offer some seasoned home fries. This would be so much more tasty. The mashed potatoes need to go!

Yelp
Saw some good reviews for Taco Deli, so decided to give it a try. While, I do prefer finding small non chain taco places I am really glad we tried them. We all got different tacos and each one of us argued that ours were the best. My all time favorite is the papadulce - loaded with roasted sweet potato, grilled corn, roasted peppers, onion, pepitas, with a delicious sauce. Another vegetarian one I would recommend is the Heather - grilled queso fresco, beans, and guac! Perfect! Can't go wrong with pork belly or any of the sirloin tacos. The rice and beans weren't anything special. Rather have an extra taco instead! While the prices may be higher you are getting a seriously quality taco here! So much flavor and freshness. Service was also fast and professional. Can't wait to come back for more!!

Yelp
another great lunch at Tacodeli. the food was great, service was courteous and environment was clean and well maintaine.

David Y.

Yelp
Unofficially on a quest to find great tacos in Austin. Between here and Torchy's (the two major taco places), I would go here. The sauces at both places are comparable, but the choices there are pretty much, which format do you want you meat, whereas here it is full of different choices like fish and an amazing cauliflower taco. I ordered two tacos for lunch and was stuffed for the rest of the day. This is a one taco town--not like the California street tacos I'm used to. (This way is better!) It's fast food so no real ambience, and the servers are all business but friendly when you interact. Going to try more small, independent places, but in the great Austin debate between Torchy's and Tacodeli, my vote is firmly in the Tacodeli camp.

Mahesh P.

Yelp
Good breakfast tacos. Seriously, this used to be an Austin institution, and in many ways it still is. That said, nowadays one gets the sensation that they're kinda coasting. Oh yeah, the Dona sauce is still amazeballs, but the tacos, well, you can get better. Oh, it isn't *bad*, it's just that you can get better...
google avatar

Yelp
Eating tacodeli for a while now. I had previously complained about the pricing but now that prices everywhere has gone up, including wack joints... these prices do not feel like robbery anymore. The breakfast tacos are the best taste wise- can't go wrong with Jess special, vaquero or Migas taco. Dona sauce makes everything awesome. No other place so far beats this sauce. Their normal lunch tacos are okay and have dropped off from my top tier list. And I always leave hungry even after 2 tacos from here. Currently there's a limited time special of Short Rib Birria. It comes with consomme. It was so tasty, can't wait to try it again before it's taken out of rotation. Service is not good at all but take out orders have been fine, they have a separate door to quickly grab and go. Quickly...if you can find parking that is.

Mary Ann S.

Yelp
best tacos in town and love your soup chips and queso asada taco I get almost every Monday my fave. If you haven't had taco deli I suggest you try it once. Guarante you will not be disappointed.

Maria Eduarda M.

Yelp
I am lucky to work around the corner from Taco Deli. I am hooked on the Salmon mojo. It is delicious. I love using the App to set up my pickup time so I can avoid the long lines. I always receive courteous service and one employee in particular has remembered my name and face now since I come in so often! Delicious, fresh food for a very good price.

Yelp
The staff here are super friendly! I picked up about 50 tacos for a company wide event on a Saturday morning (around 9am) and the parking lot was PACKED. I thought it was going to be a nightmare to pick up my order, but to my surprise, it was seamless. I was also pleasantly surprised to notice the person behind the counter; before she handed me the large bag, she realized that one of the paper bags was leaking. So she replaced the soiled bag with a new one and put everything in a plastic bag for me so it wouldn't leak again. Tiny effort like this is so noticeable to me and makes a huge difference!

Yelp
I ordered Tacodeli for a meeting at work and it was enjoyed by all! We had employees come in from other parts of the state including the Dallas area, Houston, and the Valley. Most of us, including myself, had never eaten there before so we were apprehensive (lol), but we were also tired of the "same 'ol same 'ol". It was different than what we were accustomed to - some questioned the lack of traditional taco toppings, even for "street" tacos, but once we all started eating, yum yum! We will definitely order from them again. Also, I would like to add that the delivery guy was very friendly and helped me set it up. Everything arrived nice and warm and on time. P.S. - the salsa was delicious! It had a nice kick to it. I even made a taco with just a little leftover beans and some salsa. So good!

Yelp
Got to build your own tacos for breakfast. One was eggs, cheese, and pico de gallo, which they charge a dollar for the pico unsure about where that price came from second taco was potato egg and cheese and they completely forgot the potatoes overall not a good experience I would not recommend coming.

Yelp
TacoDeli has been part of the Austin breakfast taco wave since the turn of the century. I have to admit I've always preferred there lunch tacos over the breakfast selections but I was surprised when I recently hit up this location. I went in a cold weekend morning and surprisingly it wasn't as busy as it was pre-pandemic. Since it's been a few years, I really didn't understand how the ordering system works. Basically order from the counter and since most people pay by card they can just get your name from the card. I was confused since I thought they would give you a number so I asked for a receipt only to figure out that they call you and find you when your order is ready. I know it's trivial but I get anxiety when I'm not informed what happens after you pay. Anyways they have many more specialty breakfast tacos since the last time I've been here which is many years ago. I ordered the migas and another taco made from beef cheek that was very tender. The migas a pretty tasty not as awesome as Veracruz but better than I could make myself. I definitely think tacodeli is miles ahead of torchys. Tourists and food bloggers need to add this place to their breakfast taco stops. Once you get your order they have a bunch salsas you can choose from this hast changed and I'm glad you can get as much salsa as you want; many places are stingy with their salsas. As for ambiance , it's rosedale so pretty preppy with lots of Patagonia and lululemon wearing folks.

Yelp
Extremely mid tacos. We ordered 4 different tacos, all were very lackluster considering the good reviews on Yelp. Queso was the same.

Yelp
A perfect Sunday brunch spot! I had some friends come into town and I really want to show them something that captured Austin. The wait was pretty long, but I guess that is a testament to how good their food is. I liked the tacos, they were very fresh and the sauces truly elevated the meal. I don't remember the names of the tacos I got but honestly you can't really go wrong with any that you pick.

Yelp
One of Austin's finest breakfast taco spots. They serve breakfast tacos all day weekends, and before 11 on weekdays. This is a order-at-counter and then sit down kind of restaurant. Plenty of outdoor patio seating which is great in sunny spring weather, but also lots of indoor seating for when the summer hits. Service is very friendly! You can pick from 3 salsas. The tacos are reasonably priced and pretty large. Choose from flour or corn tortillas. My friend got a shrimp salad and really loved it too. Parking is plentiful in the lot.

Yelp
This was my first time at Tacodeli and before this, so many of my friends had raved about it so I was pretty excited to try it! I got one of their specials and the sirloin, egg and cheese breakfast taco. Both of them were amazing, my friends and I really appreciated how they cooked their eggs. I also got some queso and chips and they give free chip refills and their queso is really good and not too thick which is exactly how I like it. Overall, Tacodeli definitely tops Torchy's for me personally. I liked how many options they had and the quality of their tacos too.

Yelp
I would give more stars for the food but it won't get the point across about how negative value-add the front of the house staff is now. We've been eating at Tacodeli for more than a decade. If you live in Austin, Tacodeli was the gold standard for tacos in Austin with fresh local Texas ingredients. But then the owners, as owners do, got greedy. They wanted to expand beyond Austin and expand the footprint of taco deli across Texas. What happens usually when you do that? The local guys who built your business suffer. We order tacos on a weekly basis as one of the few items our kids consistently eat. As such we make our rounds across the various locations in Austin. The only consistency is Tacodeli never ever getting to go orders right. When I say never, I don't mean more than one or two times, or 50/50. I mean literally every time I need to unpack whatever I ordered to ensure they didn't miss an item. Every time, something is wrong or missing. Here's what make that worse: on the off-chance that I don't remember to double check their work (something a customer should never have to do, btw), I will be rewarded with trying to get a refund for the missing item. If you call Tacodeli the phone will ring three times and disconnect. It's likely doing that because the voicemail is too full of people complaining about missing or wrong orders. I urge all of you who, similar to me, experience consistency of wrong orders to place a chargeback with your credit card company when the restaurant who has more than inconvenienced you can't even be bothered to pick up the phone to credit you for your missing food. See, the greedy owners aren't going to care about you missing a taco or queso, but once they start to see their tickets go severely negative from chargeback fees, you can bet they'll address their local roots and get back to providing you what made they name great - adequate service to match the high quality options that made you fall in love with them in the first place. I hope that will be enough.

Yelp
Yummy breakfast tacos!!! Ready for a delicious bump in breakfast taco? Want all the sauces? Look no further, this place is great and it will clear you your sinuses.

Yelp
Refried beans was brown liquid.(from can?)..perfectly cubed chicken seemed like frozen pieces heated up..rice and beans salty...food was lukewarm and didn't seem fresh..sparse lettuce and tomatoes. Floor was dirty. Service was fine and quick.

Yelp
I go to tacodeli at least once a week as it's close by my work. LOVE their selection of tacos, Mexican cola (so delish - 100% must try!) and their queso is TO DIE FOR! It's not totally that authentic Mexican taco, more like if Austin was a taco, it would be tacodeli. Great quick lunch option that has plenty of choices and great staff. Love how quick their online ordering is as well.

Yelp
Yeah...cannot say enough GOOD about this place! The employees, the sauces, the food, the ambiance, the sauces, the desserts, the sauces. Have I mentioned the sauces!?! I drive for Uber and Lyft and people ask all the time, 'where do I go for tacos around here?'Really!!!! There's choices? I think not!! There is only one Taco place in Austin and that is Taco Deli! Been a fan forever and been going to the Barton Skwy store since it opened. I am a huge Dona' sauce fan and often find myself driving in the direction of a Taco Deli when I'm finished driving and get two tacos, Jess Special on corn with papas and a Happy Taco on corn. Drown them in Dona and I'm set. Of course I have to buy a container of the Dona' and they famous red salsa to take home or my wife would not be happy. We live in Kyle and I will make a special trip to the Barton Skwy store just for sauces. Thank you Taco Deli!! You guys do it right! Keep up the good work!

Yelp
This taco deli location is spacious with outside seating and plenty of parking. Stopped by to grab some tacos before going paddle boarding and I really just wanted something with a bunch or protein so I got a breakfast platter with beans, potatoes, eggs, avocado, and queso and it was 7.95. The platter was tasty and the sauces were good! I've had their tacos before and I know they're good (not spectacular) but very Austin-style. Good food with decent prices!

Yelp
Love taco deli! I frequent this place often. Their breakfast tacos are actually my favorite. One note, the guac is way to spicy. I've tried it a 5 different locations and for someone like me who is sensitive to too much spice, I can't eat it. I have a lot of friends and family who even agree. Maybe one day taco deli can offer a non spicy version of their guac for those of us that would like to enjoy it.

Yelp
I love the Spyglass location, but some of the employees at this location are AWFUL people. Last Saturday I walked up and there was no one at the counter. I waited quite a while. Finally a woman came up. I said, "Hello" but she would not respond. She rudely kept staring at me and I finally ordered. As the computer only had tip options, I had to ask her to help me leave her a $0.00 tip. What a rude person who shouldn't be there.
