This Austin-born taqueria chain serves up crowd-pleasing tacos with friendly vibes, perfect for a post-hike feast near the beautiful Barton Creek trail.
"The queso at Tacodeli is perfectly fine, and also perfectly forgettable. Nothing about it stands out, but nothing about it disappoints, either. Except maybe the size—a small order is only $5, but it’s also the tiniest portion of queso we’ve ever seen. Good luck finishing more than a dozen chips before you’re scraping the bottom of the bowl. What we got: Queso and chips" - nicolai mccrary
"Sorry, Torchy’s: One big point for this taco chain is that it serves seasonal aguas frescas and horchatas every day. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are typically indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Darcie Duttweiler
"There are so many excellent breakfast taco spots, but Tacodeli is most well-positioned for weekday breakfast ease. For one, there are a ton of locations around town. But they’ve also got their breakfast tacos down to an absolute science—so whether you’re looking for something hearty (get the sirloin, egg, and cheese) or something on the lighter side, Tacodeli is always a guaranteed winner. "The one-two hit of breakfast tacos and morning queso is a good way to wake up from the Austin-born taco chain. There are so many locations across town, including this original one in Barton Hills. Takeout orders can be placed online; most locations include outdoor and indoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Tacodeli’s breakfast tacos are solid bets. The Jess Special—combining migas, jack cheese, and avocado—is possibly one of the more iconic (and tasty) breakfast tacos in town. They also do a killer sirloin, egg, and cheese taco, and their doña salsa will light your mouth on fire in the best way. Their lunch tacos are very good, too, and sway more towards the traditional Mexican offerings. They also offer vegan options that are a sort-of-healthy relief from the richness of most other taco menus in town. The Spyglass location in Barton Hills, with its many trees and picnic tables, feels zen and somehow like a secret kept from the masses. There are many Tacodelis around town these days, but this location is by far the best. photo credit: Mackenzie Smith Kelley" - Jordan Haro
