"The original Tacodeli opened in Austin in 1999 quickly becoming the quintessential Austin taqueria with its knack for inventive tacos folding the area’s locavore sensibility into the culinary multiverse of Mexican eats and Tex-Mex. When Tacodeli came to Dallas and chose to source tortillas from the neighborhood’s La Norteña Tortilleria, which specializes in the buttery, translucent Sonoran-style flour tortilla, the restaurant upped their game. Favorites here fall mostly into the breakfast category. They include The Otto (creamy refried black beans, an extra crispy bacon strip and queso fresco) and the migas. Don’t sleep on the lunch specials, especially the seasonal pomegranate seed-studded, stuffed chile en nogada." - José R. Ralat

Dining here is always such a lovely experience. Especially when the weather is nice, because I like to eat outside. The food is always delicious, and the staff is always really nice. And they are pretty darn fast, even when they are super busy. I tried their salmon pistachio special taco today and wow! The fish is grilled to perfection, soft and flaky on the inside and crispy on the outside. And the pistachio salsa I think it was, is spicy, but not too spicy. I’ll be sad to see it go, but excited to see what special they will have next!

Saturday afternoon lunch. Everything's made better with good food and great weather. We had both this Saturday. I had a shrimp soft shell taco with extra cilantro and a large salad My friend had three mesquite steak tacos. We sat on the outdoor porch and had a wonderful afternoon. I will go back the next time I'm in Dallas.

Google
Not sure what the hype was... maybe.. my none hispanic coworkers were hyping this place up. Con: 1. 5.5$ per taco. 2. These are small size street tacos. 3. Maybe the meat quality is better but I really couldn't tell. 4. The sauces are interesting I've tried 6 different tacos in the two times that I went with them. I prefer Salsa Verde, even gas station tacos over this place

Google
First time going to Tacodeli and it was a nice experience. The place is very modern, chic, and quirky. The taco options are not your traditional street taco variety and the flavors are unexpected. They are also very big tacos (you can get stuffed with 2). The service was great! The employees were talkative and helpful with the menu and suggested their favorites. I ordered "The Heather" vegetarian taco on a wheat tortilla (was half raw) and it was OK. A bit less beans and a bit more lettuce would of made it perfect. It went well with their Doña hot salsa. I also ordered the "Pollo Fantástico" chicken taco on a corn tortilla. It was my least favorite. The corn tortilla was soggy and didn't taste good. It was actually bitter and wasn't hot or cooked enough through. The chicken just didn't have a Mexican taste to it. I took it out of the tortilla and ate it with some tortilla chips I had and it was pretty decent that way. I also had their corn in a cup (Esquites). The taste was different. Not bad, just different, but not crazy about it either. Overall it was a good experience. They have a very large menu to try from and it wasn't too bad to where I wouldn't come back to try something else. This taco chain is trying to discover new flavors to put into a taco so don't expect to find traditional flavors here. Everything I tasted was new. I didn't fall in love with anything I tried today. Maybe you'll get lucky when you try it out.

Google
The food here is made for people with expensive tastes. Its very expensive, this plate was 21 dollars with a drink. Yea 21 dollars! Its good and the flaver is great and the staff is awesome but these are 5 guys prices! If you win the lotto or win a legal settlement visit this place. Its worth it! By the way.....this is a large drink....... The owner wrote back! Shout out to them. I was obviously charged twice but its fine i guess.

Sam Tucker

Google
I've given this place 3 chances as a Kessler neighbor. Third time and I am officially out. $38 for 3 tacos, chips and guacamole and a bad attitude from literally every single person in here. Wow. Astonishing they can charge so much and be so unhappy when there are 50 better tacos at half the price within half a mile. Shame on me for going again.

Jeremy Marrero

Google
I never really wanted to go to Tacodeli before, but after I found out the other place I was going was closed I decided to try it out. I am glad I did! Upon walking in I was greated by their friendly staff. I looked up their menu before going in so ordering was simple. I ordered the Shrimposito, Delibelly, and El Picosito tacos with chips and queso. The chips and queso were ok. Nothing to write home about, but the tacos we fantastic. Each taco was full of flavor, spice, and was very filling. For all that food the total came out to around $17. Tacos, queso, and a fountain drink. I never cared to try Tacodeli, but I am glad something brought me in there today. I will be visiting again soon. Out of the 3 fast casual taco places I would rank them as 1st Tacodeli, 2nd Torchys, and 3rd Velvet Taco.

Google
Visiting here from Canada, I wanted to tick breakfast tacos off the check list. I ordered the Migas Royale Plate, everything was delicious great little place to have a bite and didn’t hurt the bank account too much either

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Cowboy Taco, Mojo Salmon Taco So yummy! I got one in flour and one in corn tortilla, and both were great! Cowboy was probably the better one if I had to pick. Great flavors. The green salsa is wonderful!

Anna C.

Yelp
Taco Deli is still one of my favorite taco places regardless if they changed after Covid and they don't have their daily specials anymore with the pork belly and the ceviche. They still have super good queso, and the cowboy taco still remains my favorite. The breakfast tacos are to die for.

hailey a.

Yelp
The tacos were delicious and very filling, perfect for lunch. The Mexican rice was also flavorful as well as the blood orange agua fresca. Plenty of seating options as well as outside. I will definitely be back again!

Randa T.

Yelp
I. Love. Taco Deli. Indoor and patio seating. Counter service. Cokes in the cooler. The tacos are filled with goodness. There isnt one I wouldnt recommend. The soup is so good, as well. Im not a salsa person but theirs is really tasty. Go and order a couple of tacos for me. Thx.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Good quality is good. Value proposition is ridiculous. This is what a $11 lunch looks like, then they ask you for a tip for a counter service: one taco ($5!?), a cup of soup, and a water. "You can shear the sheep many times, but you can skin him only once." I won't be back.

Rossy A.

Yelp
My husband had been raving about this place for a while now and we finally got the opportunity to eat lunch here together. The inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious with tables spread out just enough to feel comfortable and not bump into others. They also had outdoor seating but it was literally 100 degrees outside so we opted to sit indoors. We were lucky we arrived at 11:30 because we were able to walk up and order right away but by 12 there was a crazy long line! We only waited about 10 mins before our food came out, so that was awesome. I ordered the Blue Plate with a Puerco Verde taco (my husband's recommendation), the Sabrosita Barbacoa taco and Mexican rice and refried beans as the sides. Well, the husband was right... The pork taco was AMAZING. I will come back several times for that alone! The Barbacoa taco was quite good too and paired with the rice and beans...well, I ate more than I needed to but it was absolutely worth it.

Linda ..

Yelp
Food was edible enough, considering we had to consume it dry without any salsa options, since they'd closed their station down about 45 minutes early. Next chance was a delivery order ... unfortunately, this time they closed the entire shop early -- despite still accepting orders from 3rd party services, leaving me and others with charges and drivers sitting, waiting for orders to pick up for delivery. I had to do all the footwork to get my money back. And I was left with no food that night. Tacodeli at Sylvan Ave is a risky choice ... gambling if they'll even stay open during business hours to fulfill your order. Why risk it with so many better options available?

Sydney B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my food here. I wish they had prices listed though, not all of us are trying to inadvertently spend $25 on lunch alone. Yesterday I got the cowboy, the barbacoa, and the deli belly. All were good but the barbacoa and the pork belly in the deli belly were standouts for me. The Cowboy had so much guacamole on it, it was a little difficult to taste much else- although I know plenty of people would be happy with that much Guac so personal preference comes into play there I suppose. Queso was delightfully addicting. My friend got the El Picosito and if you gain nothing else from this review please try it. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth. As soon as I tried it I was like dang I should have gotten that one instead of the cowboy! Really really good. Would definitely recommend trying it. This was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to coming back (and I may just get 3 el picosito tacos ha).

Mark C.

Yelp
My coworkers were raving about this place but I found it pretty expensive and the tortillas have a faint chemical aftertaste, or maybe it's some spice or condiment that they use. More Tex Mex than Mexican food, I feel you can get much better and more authentic tacos at La Banqueta or Come Taco. This is more like Velvet Taco where they up the pretentiousness quite a bit, come on, "Akaushi Picadillo with a Jack Cheese glaze"? My Mexican ancestors are collectively rolling their eyes at this. Service was good and the place was clean. All in all, if friends insist on coming I'll eat here but it's not the kind of place I would visit if other choices were available.

Aj A.

Yelp
the queso and salsas they have to offer are the BEST i've had yet. the service was great. it was a neat little place had some nice outdoor seating too. the tacos in my opinion were okay i've had better but everyone has their own opinion.

William A.

Yelp
The breakfast tacos here are quite good, but the employees have recently been turning the morning background music up so high it is nearly impossible to share morning conversation with friends there. When I asked the cashier to please lower the volume so we could comfortably talk at our table, he just looked at me with a grin as it to say "I'll pretend to turn it down, is it to say "I'll pretend to turn it down, but there's no way in hell I'm lowering the volume." I think employees like the loud music because it gives them a lift in an otherwise mundane job. What they don't realize is that we don't really go there for the food. We go there for the conversation.

J. J.

Yelp
The tacos are delicious but so greasy. The FRONTERA FUNDIDO CAULIBELLA lacks the balance you want in a taco. Felt slimy.

Anna A.

Yelp
Decent taco spot with lots of customizability and options. You can build your own or order one of the many premade tacos. Tons of veggie, vegetarian, and vegan options. The flavors weren't super impressive and none of the salsas were remarkable. Queso was good. If I lived nearby I might go again but wouldn't drive out of my way to visit. The location is clean and large and has easy parking in the back. Pretty casual / generic feel.

TJ N.

Yelp
This place was OK. The space itself was clean (restaurant + bathroom). Plenty of parking, and colorful atmosphere. The food was decent - enjoyed the veggie rice and whole black beans on the plate. The vegan sweet potato taco (yum) and the shrimp/cheese taco was just passable. The salsas are self-serve and good too. I'd come here again, though not in a huge rush as it was $30 for two for a late lunch/early dinner.

Chuck G.

Yelp
Great food great service great Tacos! I can't get enough of this place! I like jess special for breakfast w/ a Mexican Coke everyday! The street corn is amazing!

Lori W.

Yelp
Staying with my sorority sister & she has always known great Mexican good. She eats healthy, loves tacos and when she brought 2 of the Freakin Vegan back for me yesterday with their killer salsas, somehow I knew we would go there today. 2x in less than 24 hours. Seriously just fab-u-Lous!! Great staff there too.

Darsha M.

Yelp
A must have when visiting Dallas! My brother brought my family here and everyone was satisfied with their meal. I ordered the migas and freakin vegan and both were so filling. I also loved the space cowboy taco, the mushrooms were cooked well and were packed with flavor. I can't rave more about the hot sauces! I loved all of them, they each added a unique flavor to the tacos.

Christie N.

Yelp
Just happened upon this place today when in the area. I ordered a breakfast taco online for pickup & it was ready in 10 minutes. When I got there it was waiting for me at the grab & go. I got the Otto which had beans, bacon & avocado. It was delicious! The medium salsa was also great & a perfect spice level for me. I'll definitely come back & hope for a Arlington and Fort Worth location in the future!

Alyssa P.

Yelp
Food was not very good and a little overpriced. The workers were very nice. Would not return or recommend.

Isaiah C.

Yelp
Food took way longer than normal; if you're hungry don't come here first. Food was a little on the cool side

Jessica Z.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Tacodeli and it was sooooo delicious! I got the Jess Special and the Pollo Fantastico. I had heard great things about the breakfast tacos, and couldn't turn down a taco that shared a name with me:) It was excellent. All the ingredients were super fresh and the homemade tortillas were perfect. The pollo fantastico was great as well. I loved the tender shredded chicken. I also got an order of queso and chips. I got the small queso and it was the perfect size for one person. I love queso blanco and this really hit the spot. The location is in a really fun spot and they had ample parking available. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the food was prepared quickly. I can't wait to come back here and try even more of their menu items!

Jon S.

Yelp
We popped in here for a quick dinner before a show recently. For the two plates and drinks we got it was just over $30. For the amount of food and quality that's about $10 too much. The food was so so. The flavors of the mole that I got were passable. The beans and rice were subpar and overall it was food that I could eat so I wouldn't be hungry. It was definitely a big drop in quality from what it used to be and I won't be back.

Frits R.

Yelp
Best taco's in Dallas. The vegan breakfast taco is really good and the Barbacoa Madruguera is by far the best taco in Dallas. Friendly staff, easy parrking, great place to go for breakfast

Rachel R.

Yelp
My best friend has been raving about Tacodeli for ages. She finally got me to tag along on a recent trip into Dallas. We stopped in on a Monday around lunchtime. Even near the beginning of the week, their taco game was going strong and the place was packed. I ordered the taco special of the day and the fish taco. Both were delicious and my mouth is watering remembering it. We also shared chips and salsa (the green one). It was HOT -- but in a delicious kind of way that continued to make me risk the burning of my mouth.

Molly M.

Yelp
I love taco deli and eat here weekly, having said that I'm feeling like management changed recently? We had a weird experience today that soured it for us. We ordered three tacos to go and when we got our bag it only had one in it. We informed a worker and they proceeded to argue with us that we only ordered one even after the worker that took our order confirmed we ordered three. The manager finally gave us the other two and said in a sassy tone that we should be happy since we we just got a taco for free. We did not tho? We got the three tacos and ran out of there after the awkward interaction and when we went to eat the tacos weren't even the ones we ordered. Love you taco deli but something is going on with customer service!

Rick B.

Yelp
I saw a review that said Taco Deli has Chiles en nogado, but a phone call to the restaurant proved that they do not serve Chiles en Nogados. It's a taco joint.

Robert F.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place and I'm surprised it only gets 3 stars. Couple flaws. Price point is a bit high for protein portions. I know it's good quality, plus great ambiance, but it got a lower rating because... Do not get the Pico de Gallo, it will ruin your food! I've never had such a salty Pico. Something is off here. Pico should add freshness and levity, this was a sodium bomb that ruined my tacos, and rice/beans, basically everything. Lastly, first round of tacos I waited 15 minutes and then the tacos were cold to the touch, protein as well (during a non-busy time too). They remade them with some looks that I did something wrong. I'd forgive everything, but that Pico has gotta go!

Jared C.

Yelp
Come here often. Even eat these same tacos and other coffee spots. Hate to see the main location lack customer service. Staff seems to be worried about talking with each other which I understand when getting things done. However, every single table is covered in food. This is gross. Owner needs to know what's going on, and probably will now!!

Joshua L.

Yelp
Me and my girl love their breakfast tacos 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone who would want to try breakfast tacos.

Allison S.

Yelp
Addicted to freakin vegan and Dona sauce. Almost perfect but I don't love the corn tortillas they use. The corn are the only vegan ones. You can get the Donna sauce at Whole Foods which is nice. The habanero is my second favorite. They se both addicting and I've had a few other veganized version but nothing beats the freakin vegan

Emily H.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast tacos that make you feel like you're in Austin! I love these breakfast tacos because they don't make you feel overstuffed, and sluggish afterwards. The eggs are never super oily unlike many other breakfast taco joints. The ingredients really do taste fresh and I always leave feeling good about what I just ate. The lunch taco selection is extensive and gives a good variety for whatever diet you may have. Personally, I think the lunch tacos are a little overpriced as the tacos themselves don't taste very unique and are a little smaller than I'd like. However, if you're craving tacos that you want to feel good about, definitely come to Tacodeli! P.S. Be sure to try their Mexican Cola (diet tastes amazing!)

John E.

Yelp
Got the Mojo Salmon and the Delibelly. Out of the two the Delibelly for sure beat out the Mojo Salmon. Staff were very friendly. Great place for a quick taco fix. Looking forward to trying out their breakfast tacos soon!

Jeff J.

Yelp
The Dona sauce is life here I could drink that with a straw. The tacos are top notch and love the specials, especially when they have goat on the menu. I could run an IV line with their queso. The only bad experience I have had here has nothing to do with the food or employees. It's the douchey people that are way to loud and have never had a real street taco and all they can talk about is a craft beer from Deep Ellum as the "be all-end all" of beers and then doesn't even finish said beer.

Teresa L.

Yelp
Seriously good breakfast here. Pricey but should be. Fresh, farm to table ingredients make up some top shelf recipes. Kudos to the chef for the brilliant flavor selections. Tacos 4 1/2 star Ambiance 3 star Price 3 star Service 4 star I'll be a regular here. Recommend, if you are anywhere close by, stop in. Quick & friendly service.

C M.

Yelp
Love love love the breakfast tacos but dammmmmmmnnnnnnn can we get a better deliver service because Favor is continuing to drop the ball EVERY TIME. Always late. Placing office orders and people are hungry. The time given is never accurate. It's usually 30min more

Brittany A.

Yelp
Normally come here and it's great. This time I ordered online and it said my order would be ready it about 15 minutes. I come in 3 minutes before it's suppose to be ready. I got 4 simple "freaking vegan"tacos and figured it might not take as much time. I walk in the door and it's rather slow. I see 2 tango bags on the counter behind the register and none on the pace to pick up your order. All of the employees were behind the counter, giving each other massages and hugs and one casually brings the bags that had been sitting there for who knows how long over to the place to pick up and doesn't say a word to me. I get to my car and I take a bite. The foil was colder than room temp and so were my tacos. Not to mention there was no salsa. Super annoyed because they obviously weren't made within the last 15 minutes and the service was trash.

E V.

Yelp
I didn't like that they don't post their prices until you're up at the register. The shrimp taco was super fishy in a bad way. I was scared to finish it. The corn esquites were really bad. They didn't have any flavor. No lime or chili flavor although it had some red stuff and bland cheese. No mayo or sour cream either on the corn. The only thing I enjoyed was my margarita and the cowboy taco was ok but not for the price of a single taco. Their food is just not my style I guess. Spent $30 and had to walk next door to get something to eat cuz I was still hungry.

Dornella C.

Yelp
Lol first of all...the margaritas start at $8 for one of those regular degular plastic cups, and they aren't strong at all. Second, they forgot to bring out the chips & queso before my tacos. The queso was super watery! Third, the tacos were very basic at best. It's giving gentrified taco spot. No authenticity at all. You'll be much better off going to a real taqueria.

Chandra J.

Yelp
First, but not the last time I will check out Taco Deli. Like so many restaurants right now they are only offering take out, so I checked out their online menu first and called in. The online menu does not have the prices, so after order six tacos, medium beans, and chips and salsa my total was $30! Granted this was for two people, so this is what you probably would pay for a dinner for two and we did get a lot of food. The tacos were a good size--stuffed with chunks of meat. I got two of the chicken tacos and a shrimp tacos. They did not skimp on the onions, peppers, or cilantros--wow! Everything was fresh, but I wish it couldve had a little more seasoning and umph to it. The salsas did help, especially the tomatillo! Minus one star for the phone service and having me wait for way too long for my order. I followed all of the texting directions and still ended up having to call back the main number to ask for help and wait for over 15 minutes.

Elijah B.

Yelp
Kinda just disappointed. The place is nice and clean, but the staff was rude and the food is straight up not good. One can tell when biting into a wonderful taco that it was made with love, these tacos did not give that same experience. Not a horrible place, just so many better options in the great state of Texas.

Joe G.

Yelp
Food was good, service was great, a guy named Jorge went out of his to make sure our food was perfect. Thanks!

Walter S.

Yelp
Whenever work sends me to Dallas I find myself at Taco Deli at least once per trip, and with good reason: fresh flavorful tacos, friendly staff, and amazing spicy salsa! My usual tacos are as follows Breakfast: Jess Special and/or Potato Egg Cheese Lunch: Heather Taco, Portabello Frontera Fundido, or Space Cowboy Regardless your choice: always get some Salsa Dona to accompany your tacos. I have no clue how it's made but it is amazing. I will say I tend to prefer breakfast over lunch but don't misread that as a knock to their lunch options, I'm just a breakfast tacos boy by nature. I also appreciate that their tacos are fresh and filling without making me feel overly full and sluggish for the rest of the day. Chips and Queso is great as well (chips come proportioned in their own bag) and while I enjoy their guacamole, it has quite the defined lime taste to it. I have always had nothing but remarkably positive experiences anytime I've delt with the staff. From ordering, to taco delivery-their staff is always friendly, accommodating, and helpful on every interaction. The long and short of it is consistent, fresh, amazing tacos served up by a friendly staff is always sure to satisfy any taste.

Rafael P.

Yelp
The food is here is to be obsessed over. Idk what you guys put in the tacos but damn I love it. Manager dude up front is dope AF and always takes care of his customers. We bring our dogs over too and it's such a welcoming environment.

Vanessa C.

Yelp
Ok so the place is clean, the service was ok, but the food was cold and it wasn't even fully cooked and IT WAS $5 for 1 taco!! We got some chicken soup and it was way too over seasoned. We also asked for salt and limes and they gave us very small cut limes I could even squeeze! Not worth it! Waste of money!

Katherine C.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to hang with my old buddy, enjoy queso and some Freakin' Vegan tacos.

Isabelle N.

Yelp
I was a huge fan of Tacodeli when I lived and Austin, and guess what?! STILL A FAN. To the point where you could even call me a Tacodelic. Tacodeli has such a large selection of tacos, including seafood and vegetarian options so everyone can enjoy. I've also had their salads before which are equally as delicious, but let's be real I'll order at least 1 taco with it. They make the softest flour and corn tortillas, which is a common setback of a lot of taco restaurants I try. Wash down your meal with their freshly made agua fresca, horchata or artisanal sodas and you've got yourself a mighty fine meal.

Beck W.

Yelp
When walking in I had hope for the place. I saw reasonably sized tacos at a reasonable price. I got in line and waited for what felt like 2 years for only 3 people in front of me. The food came out quick but I soon realized why. The tortilla was cold and the meat was poor quality. First and last time eating here.

Judah J.

Yelp
Went here on a dreary Saturday after driving for hours. Got the sirloin and egg breakfast taco as well as Jessie's Special. I was half-expecting cold, tough meat that take prehistoric jaws to cut, but was in for a pleasant surprise...not only was the meat tender, but the taco was quivering with freshness! Both tacos were exceptional fresh and bursting with flavor. The only problem being the tacos are tiny and I left still feeling hungry... Oh, I forgot to mention that the food came out almost before I sat down on the picnic table outside. Don't take that to mean they simply dropped yesterday's tacos in the microwave for 30 seconds!!! Taste buds don't lie and mine told me that a microwave never saw my taco! Next time I need breakfast in Dallas, I know where to go--and I won't make the same skimpy mistake as last time.........5 sirloin tacos coming up!!

Ivy Sugar T.

Yelp
I absolutely love this taco place. The food is always fresh and they use the best ingredients. I usually get the Ensalada Taco deli with shrimp and avocado dressing. I highly recommend the green hot sauce for a chick. If you are in a rush, they do have a togo order counter, otherwise feel free to grab a seat inside or in the covered patio. This location is also close to a few trendy spots so is definitely a must stop when taking a downtown dallas tour. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and never hesitate to fix your order if wrong. The staff always walks around and makes sure everyone is doing okay and offers to take their trash. Even though I usually get their salad, their tacos is just as a delicious and should be added to your Taco Tuesday stop.

Jeff F.

Yelp
Searching for breakfast tacos on a business trip in Dallas and found this place. Clean, cool, good coffee, and amazing - AMAZING - tacos. I want to go back for more, but I'm stuffed. I started with the Jess, with fresh avocado: I needed to add a little hot sauce, but that's not for everyone. The sirloin taco with peppers and onions was phenomenal. What a great way to start the day.
