Absolutely fantastic experience! We were in town for a few days and this was walking distance from the hotel. It was Taco Tuesday and they did not disappoint. Brian took great care of us and his recommendations were on point. Great find and a wonderful spot

Kinda unfair. Tried the esquites and the special tacos. Also had the watermelon Fresca and horchata. Liked the elote and drinks. The special tacos were okay. Meat was kinda plain. I'll try their regular menu next time because all that was tasty. Esquites had really nice smoky crema.

We try this place while visiting the DC area. The restaurant is located in a nice area with other nice restaurants and stores. It’s hard to see from the main road. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice and it’s clean. We tried tacos al Pastor, tacos de Carne Asada, esquites and quesadillas. Meat was tender and had good flavor, we like they add pineapple like authentic tacos have, salsas were good too, however tortillas were very greasy.

not my first time eating here and ive been impressed the first two times, so i was very disappointed with this order. everything tasted stale & the avocado should absolutely have been thrown out and not served to any customer for the amount being paid.

Return for the second time of the week in both cases taken care of by the inimitably great service of Kevin. Came in for the Michelin-starred Califa de Leon tacos. But the place really is fab. 5-stats all around

We visited Tacombi for the first time and tried the items from the Califa De Leon menu. They were delicious, the service was excellent (THANKS, KEVIN!) and the atmosphere was inviting.

Extremely disappointing experience last night. The place was crowded and they were clearly understaffed. It also means they were under-managed and poorly managed. The service was horrendous. Our waiter was simply outnumbered and poorly trained. The management did not once walk the room. The table next to us ordered drinks but their service took so long, they got up and left. Here's what happened to us: 1. Wednesday 12/18, 7:30 arrival 2. We get sat right away - 3 of us. 3. Nobody acknowledges us for 25 minutes. We are close to getting up and voting with our feet, but give the place a little grace.... It turned out to be the wrong decision. 4. Waiter finally shows up. We order everything at the same time, as we weren't convinced we'd see him again. 5. 15 minutes later, the food starts showing up in no particular order and without any explanation of what we're being served. There's no flat ware that accompanies our food, just some really poor quality taqueria-type napkins in a very dirty dispenser on our table. I ask a food runner for forks and plates. She finally brings some out, 5 minutes later. 6. 25 minutes after ordering.... Food has been on the table for 10 minutes. We still do not have any water and our margaritas are nowhere to be found. 7. I finally flag the server down ... Water shows up 7 minutes later. The Paloma pitcher shows up 10 minutes later, or about 35++ minutes after we've ordered it. And we're mostly done with our food 8. The food is pretty decent and tasty - this is not blow you out of the water flavoring but a solid food experience. Potions are taqueria sizing, which is expected. The dining experience itself, however, was horrible and the owners should be embarrassed by the service and their management that night. 9. With so many amazing, considerate choices in and around Bethesda, this spot is not worth revisiting. You can be way better taken care of at Fish Taco around the corner or even Guapos up the street (if you want the full dining experience). I'd go so far as to say Uncle Julios (which I am not a fan of) would be a better choice. 10. Final answer: If you want to try this spot, maybe go for lunch when they aren't busy? Or order takeout. They should close for dinner service until they get their act together. I fully blame management, and not our poorly trained and overworked server. (Well, I sort of blame him... He was nice but fully clueless). Take away: Cool space. Good (not great) food. Good (not great) cocktails. Poorly trained servers. Poorly trained staff. Bad management. Ownership should be embarrassed by the events of this evening. We weren't the only disappointed diners. And I would expect this place is not sustainable in downtown Bethesda unless something changes. Quickly. *Not sure why the date on the bill below is incorrect. We dined on 12/18/24

Google
10/10 experience at Tacombi! The service was amazing, the servers were very attentive and I got my food quickly. The pollo taco was a bit too salty, though very flavorful. The Al Pastor was my fave. Definitely check them out!

Yelp
I haven't dined in at Tacombi yet, but I've ordered carry out from them several times. I have always received excellent service: while I wait for my order I'm always offered a place to sit and some water - even if I'll only be there for a minute or two - and my order comes up hot & fresh quickly. My go-to order is a chicken quesadilla, which comes with a side of salsa of your choosing. You can also get some of their Truff carry-out packets, and I highly recommend the green truffle hot sauce to take your quesadilla to the next level. Tacombi might earn a fifth star in the future when I'm able to have the full dine-in experience.

Yelp
I really wanted to like Tacombi in Bethesda, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. While the service was decent and the staff were friendly, the food and drinks were seriously underwhelming. The tacos lacked flavor and freshness, and the portions were disappointingly small for the price. As for the drinks, my margarita was watered down and lacked the vibrant citrusy punch I was expecting. The vibe of the place is nice, but the quality of the food and drinks just doesn't justify the cost. With so many great options in the area, I doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

Lola L.

Yelp
Mexican born and raised here and I LOVED this gem! Its a replica of an authentic taqueria in Mexico. All the details are on point, the lighting, the decor, the food....even the service makes you feel like you're in Mexico. Hands down my fav taquería in the DMV.

Betty L.

Yelp
Came by for a small bite. Was alright but not that impressed. I got the birria, shrimp tacos and mezcal mule. Birria and shrimp were good but nothing extraordinary. I enjoyed the slaw on the shrimp taco though. Mule was very strong. My friend got the califa de Leon. It didn't look like much. He said they were alright, but wouldn't say it's worth the price. Guac was alright but very small portion. We also got the corn which tasted too much like canned corn to me. Can get better for less else where.

Paul J.

Yelp
During the last week of 2024, Tacombi served up tacos from El Califa de Leon, the world's only Michelin-starred tacos. So, of course, we had to stop by and visit. We got both the beef and the pork tacos from El Califa de Leon and they were fantastic. Literally, a well-cooked and delicious cut of meat on a soft taco, but add a few sauces and toppings, and we were off to the races. Delicious!!! We also got a few of our standards just because: birria, al pastor, a pescado burrito and a pollo burrito. And of course a Corn Esquites just because. I think Tacombi is still my go-to taco place, and their partnership with El Califa de Leon just cements their place for me. I hope they do it again. In the mean time, you gotta try their tacos!

Yelp
Tacombi is an incredible taco and quesadilla restaurant. The food is made to order and is served fresh and hot. The quesa-birria is deliciousss and the cheese quesadilla is a close second. In my experience, the food doesn't taste as good when you reheat it, so enjoy these in the moment. It's just really good food and worth the price. We love it here. They also have horchata and other yummy fruity drinks to enjoy.

Bryan K.

Yelp
I decided to give Tacombi a try, as I'd never eaten there before. Initially I came here for the pop up event which was Califa De Leon (Michelin Star Taqueria) from Mexico City, but was told the event won't start till 5pm. Being from California and having explored many of the popular taco spots in Southern California and Mexico, I consider myself a bit of a taco connoisseur. The interior of the restaurant was very nicely set up, and was very spacious. I tried a variety of items--some were fantastic, and others weren't bad but didn't quite match up to places I've been before. Starting with my least favorite, the Al Pastor taco didn't have enough flavor for me. It wasn't bad, just not memorable. The Birria taco was decent, but honestly, in the DMV area, no one compares to Nono's Taqueria--they've mastered Birria tacos, and no one can see them period. The Esquites (corn) were definitely among the best I've had. My favorites, however, were the Baja Crispy Fish, Carne Asada, and Sinaloa Shrimp tacos. Their corn tortillas were excellent, and the Agua de Sandía (watermelon drink) was absolutely amazing. One big surprise was their hot sauces--all three were incredible. Most taquerias in the DMV area usually have just one good or decent hot sauce, but Tacombi nailed it with all three. Even the price point is little bit higher than the other places I've been to I will definitely be back in the future.

Yelp
Went here for the first time and it was a mixed bag. Service started out fine and the food trickled out pretty quickly. We tried various items to mixed reviews. As others mentioned, it is pricey for the portion, especially compared to other excellent taquerias around. The beans and rice, corn esquites and tostada were pretty good but very small for the price ($5 each)! I really like the Baja fried fish taco but the seared fish taco wasn't good at all which was disappointing since those are usually my favorite kind. My husband enjoyed his sweet potato and black beans tostada, but I didn't like the overpowering sauce on it. Now for service...our waiter disappeared and my husband had to wave down a different one who very apologetic. He brought my husband the extra taco he ordered and gave it to us on the house. Then we waited again to get the check and had to ask the other waiter again to bring it. The restaurant wasn't even busy! He brought us the check and then lo and behold, our waiter showed up to ask us how things are going! We told him we couldn't find him and had to order with and get the bill from another waiter and he just shrugged and walked away!! Never had that kind of bad service, no apologies, just attitude. We would've told the manager but at this point just wanted to leave. We tipped the other waiter on the way out. Based on the food and service, we won't be back. The table and chairs outside are also not very comfortable. Fish Taco has much better food at a much better price.

Erica L.

Yelp
Solid neighborhood taqueria especially for Bethesda. The price point is a bit high considering that it's loud and there's no real ambiance. Some great items and some mediocre. The Baja crispy fish, sinoloa shrimp, and beef birria tacos are solid. Guacamole is good. I hate that the kids menu has nothing aside from beans and cheese or sweet potato and bean tacos pretty much. And my kid who loves sweet potato and beans doesn't love them because they have no flavor. As though kids can't eat other food or eat something that tastes like anything. The rice and beans are pretty plain and lacking in flavor.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Had a great weekday dinner at Tacombi. It is very close to the Bethesda Metro station and Landmark Theater. The menu has an extensive drink menu paired with many traditional Mexican faves (Birria al pastor, Baja fish, ect). I ordered the vegana burrita. It was very generously stuffed with the usual traditional ingredients (rice and beans, chile salsa, shredded cabbage ). But it also was mixed with more unique veggies (kale, roasted sweet potatoes). The spices used also made the burrita very flavor. My companion liked his avocado tostadas (lots of pickled onions, cilantro, creamy black beans and fresh guac).

J R.

Yelp
Tacombi is the best. I love their food. I've tried most of the tacos. My favorites are the shrimp and al pastor. There is so much flavor in everything that they serve. Next time I will try the quesadillas. I've gone there two times. The first time we had a wonderful server. He was super friendly, helpful, and had a great positive attitude. Tacombi is such a great place.

Shawna M.

Yelp
We walked in on a Friday night for a table of 5 and were seated within a few minutes. The ordering process was fairly easy as you were given paper menus and you marked off what you wanted. We got a wide array of tacos. I tried the following: -chips and guac- the chips were quite salty, but I enjoy salty foods so I found them perfect. The guac was fresh and obviously made there. - sweet potato and bean taco- this surprisingly had a kick to them that I wasn't necessarily expecting. The sweet potatoes were soft but not too soft. -birria tacos- they come in an order of 2 and they were great. Meat was tender and flavorful. The compote was packed full of flavor. I would have liked some raw onion on the side to put on, but that's the only addition I would have made. - Baja taco- fish portion was fairly large and the taco was great. I loved this one and the birria most. Lastly, it feels like you're somewhere else when you're here. Like you're on vacation. It's got a good vibe and good service

Alea V.

Yelp
I tried their birria taco during taste of Bethesda and it was really delicious! I was expecting a few flavors to come through that I didn't get, but it could have just been the set up since they were outside in a stand so I plan on visiting their actual location to try the birria taco again and some of the guac. I really liked that they served it with a lime and the taco was a perfect fit into the little cup. The meat was cooked well and juicy and the taco was nice and crisp.

Yelp
I didn't enjoy the food. And I believe I paid about $50 for just myself. Definitely OVERPRICED. The service was lacking. I wouldn't waste my calories there again. Unsatisfying.

Yelp
Fast and casual sit-down Mexican restaurant. We were greeted at the door and immediately sat (customer service 5/5). We ordered- Watermelon water 5/5 Horchata 5/5 Corn esquites 5/5 Al pastor and carne asada taco 3/5‐ dry, unflavored Fish taco 4/5

Eddie K.

Yelp
Count me a fan of this place. When I was in NYC, I must have walked by several of these establishments, so I was happy to see one in Bethesda, MD. I love the casual vibe of this place and the service and food was pretty good. I really enjoyed their Beef Birria Taco, Baja Crispy Fish Taco and the Avocado Tostada. My daughter really enjoyed her Pollo Quesadilla. They don't have a large menu, but this place satisfies my taco cravings. I do like their Mexican beer offerings as well.

Ashley F.

Yelp
my partner and i have been tacombi regulars for many years, originally at the new york city locations. we were excited when a location opened in bethesda and have come several times. the food is excellent as always but this time we were very surprised at the guacamole. They have majorly downsized the portion. Go look at any photo of the guacamole from a month ago or later. And then look at what we got today. I can't believe they are charging the same price for this... this is the LARGE. wow. also i am begging them to bring back the breakfast tacos

Kenneth K.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered from here two months for the DoorDash Taco Tuesday special. We had the Baja Crispy Fish, Seared Fish, and Carne Asada tacos. The tacos were delicious but we've had even better from other places and the prices were a dollar or two more than usual.

Deven M.

Yelp
This was the worst experiences ever. First of all it's suppose to be doing a pop up yet they done have any promotion sayings it's at 5. My partner and I were ignored at the bar why some sever flirted with girl the entire time. The manger who took our order put it in but no tacos ever came to the table. She then tried to changer us for them and sneak one onto the bill. If you can't hand volume then don't do it.

Jessica E.

Yelp
Ordered delivery: fried fish tacos were so so good! Barria tacos were also delicious! The Birria sauce is exceptional! The corn was decent. I didn't love the corn but my friend loved it and tore it up! The al pastor tacos were not so flavorful. I wouldn't get those again. The chips and quac also wouldn't get again. Guac was too salty, but did love how many chips they provided. I think I want to go again but sit down and order some drinks, and then I'll update my review if I do!

Allison L.

Yelp
It's hard not to like this establishment, just based on the service alone. My husband and I stumbled upon this place and ordered carryout at the counter. Staff was very attentive and helped us weed through the menu. We also had a slight issue with our order (missing an item) but they very quickly and kindly resolved the issue for us. Food-wise, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered (burrito and tacos). Chips and guac were particularly good here too.

Tava W.

Yelp
The food here was so good! I'm still thinking of those Birria tacos! Most I've had, the consume that the tacos are typically served with, have been flavorless & bland but here it was delicious and full of flavor. As well as the corn dish! 10/10 from me. The service is excellent. Staff and bartenders were very attentive to patrons and on a nice warm day the outside patio is perfect. Even for a fall night cap! Happy Yelping!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Solid food. Good service. Items came out quick. Loved the home made chips. The guac could use some more heat. The shrimp and carne asada was our favorite. Would return

Deseree C.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food here was not what I expected....The service was great but every dish we got had absolutely no flavor! We ordered multiple tacos from the crispy fish taco, Birria taco, carne asada and none were good. Out of everything we're ordered, the only okay item was the elote. The service was very friendly and I loved the decor of the restaurant, the food was just not good.

Su W.

Yelp
Coming from Los Angeles, one of the best cities for Mexican food in the US, I have high standards for Mexican food, especially street tacos. When I learned they had a location in Bethesda, I ran as fast as I could to visit. I fell in love when a coworker let me try a spoon of esquites. What differentiates them is their Mayo. They do their own twist by making it spicy and delicious with some godly seasoning. I loved it so much I tried making it at home, but wasn't able to exactly replicate it (please tell me your recipe haha). I am on the hunt to find something like this in LA! Service at Tacombi is always superb. Super fast service here. I went on Easter Sunday, and was attended to by a lovely person. He was super accommodating to a picky family member I brought. Appreciate the great vibes, food, and amazing tacos. Love ya Tacombi.

Athena A.

Yelp
Heard about Tacombi from a friend and thought I'd give it a try. Love the design layout throughout the restaurant. It gives me Latin diner vibes. The food was pretty good. The menu offers appetizers/sides of chips and guacamole, rice and beans and corn. The entree items are tacos, burritos and enchiladas. The tacos are street tacos so you'll have an opportunity to try different ones if not all of them, depending on your appetite. ORDER: * Al Pastor Taco * The traditional go to taco filled with grilled slices of pork with cilantro, onions and topped with a pineapple slice. * Carne Asada Taco * Another traditional go to taco with steak, cilantro, onions and a yummy green salad. Tacos - Both tacos were good. The meat was cooked well and the lime added the usual touch of a street taco. * Adobada Al Pastor Burrito * This burrito was full of roasted pork, cabbage, rice and onions. It was subpar. The meat was good, however I was hoping for infused flavor, which it lacked and seemed dry. It wasn't as flavorful as your typical burrito. The salsa helped however I would expect to not have to drown it in salsa to infuse flavor. I suppose I wanted that homey, messy, burrito with flavor and more ingredients. Perhaps, guacamole, corn, pico; something else to add to the mix. Note: It wasn't terrible. Think of a plain hamburger vs a cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, etc. * Horchata * Usually you can't go wrong with a Horchata but this has an odd flowery flavor to me. It was ok. * Mezcal Mule * A delicious Latin version of a Moscow Mule infused with a hint of spice. It was a good choice in the adult drink category. Overall, the food was ok. Perhaps I had high expectations because my friend compared it to a well known spot in LA and Vegas that has held the number one spot for street tacos and some in my book as well as other foodies in my circle. The service was great. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waiter gave us a digest of the menu and checked on us frequently. The vibe and decor is excellent. There's a nice bar, the tables and individual rack for your purse, hat, coat, is a plus. There's a sectioned off area in the back for private events. The bathroom is clean. There's a nice taco wash area in the restaurant area to wash up after your meal. Give the restaurant a try for yourself. I recommend the carne asada and al pastor taco.

Yelp
Best Authentic Tacos this side of the Rio Grande Short of taking a flight into Mexico, the only places to eat the real deal is Tacombi. They are serving up the realness in tacos, quesadillas, fruit juices and more. I'm sad it took me so long to stop by this newer Bethesda location. I'm now obsessed, and plotting when I can eat this incredibly tasty food again. Aesthetically, the owners have re-created the feel of a authentic "taco" joint with their intimate tables adorned with umbrellas from a real Mexican soda. It's all white floors and tiles, bright tables and orange umbrellas. Ambiance is important but even more vital to the restaurant is the flavor. You sit down and they hand you a paper slip, it's a menu and ordering slip. I selected the "gringa." Which was a quesadilla made with scrumptiously prepared slow roasted pork, "Al Pastor." I also ordered a pineapple juice. The juice was wonderful and I drank it down in minutes. My quesadilla arrived, and tasty juices ran off onto the plate. You bite into it and it was a delicious explosion of flavor in my mouth. So incredibly delicious I couldn't wait to tell my friends, family and neighbors about this magically awesomeness, called Tacombi and their otherworldly food. Don't walk, run to this new phenomenally mind blowing experience of authentic Mexican Food, I guarantee you'll love it. Bethesda Hours: 11 AM to 11 PM.

Stuart M.

Yelp
Three dishes that I enjoyed. Fish taco, chicken taco, and pork burrito. The burrito was a reasonable size, but the tacos were smallish. Prices were a shade high for the quantity. This was due to equal parts inflation, Bethesda, and a staff that almost outnumbered the guests. My second issue was a lack of sauces that could alter the food. Not perfect, but certainly an ok addition to Bethesda.

Brittney W.

Yelp
I took a moment to try this cute taco spot but it was nothing special if you ask me. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It was great for a nice summer evening and beauty was a great bartender. However, the food + aqua frescas were not worth it to me. I had the blackened cod and it was alright. Not too much flavor outside of the spiciness and sauce. I would only come back because I can eat outside/in an open air space (and that is a pretty big deal to me right now it's COVID) and the offer a pescatarian taco.

Gunjan S.

Yelp
Food was ok, and it could have been more flavourful and more presentable. Service was a little confusing, with multiple servers approaching several times. Menu is limited. Nice ambience.

Patty H.

Yelp
The Bethesda location is bright and happy with incredible service. The indoor-outdoor seating makes me feel for a moment like I'm in SoCal. I have to point out that the portions are not like taquerias off the beach in Escondido and neighboring towns in one way though - they are pretty small, with Bethesda prices. Most people will want to order at least three. But they are delicious. My favorite is the classic fried fish taco, followed by carne asada. Chips are dense and deep fried; I would skip, though the guacamole is amazing. Skinny margaritas come with lime and agave syrup on the side. I've been here a few times - with friends, with kids, and every time, everyone who works here is so kind. Overall it's a great neighborhood place and feels more fun and modern than anything else in Bethesda right now.

Tyler M.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. I enjoyed the tacos, guacamole, and margarita. it is just a bit out of the way if you live in dc.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Was walking towards a cafe when we decided to go here instead. Tacombi is a little hidden in the chaos of Bethesda Ave. We ordered a few tacos and a quesadilla. I was surprised at how small a few of the tacos we're, but they were all great. The tacos just melt in your mouth and have so much flavor. Two tacos and half a quesadilla later, I was was full but not too full. The staff was so friendly. We definitely enjoyed this quick lunch/snack.

Rob M.

Yelp
Decent food, terrible management. We've been to the restaurant a few times, but tonight will be our last. We ate outside on their patio, and unfortunately there was a multi-family party also seated outdoors. They had five or six children in their party who used the restaurant as a play ground. The kids were running around, between the tables, shrieking, falling down, crying, etc. We called our server over and asked him to speak with the parents. He shrugged his shoulders and ignored the request. We asked him a second time and he remarked that "they're kids". When we told him we're likely to never come back, he simply said ok, your choice." The bottom line: there's no manager paying attention, nor one who cares. If you want to have tacos in a Chuck's Cheese style restaurant, Tacombi is your place. If you want dinner in a civilized restaurant, choose another restaurant. It's truly sad that a restaurant with such a nice location can't live up to its potential.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
The corn esquites was my favorite! Absolutely delicious. I came here towards the end of lunch special which is the only time I would recommend coming here. For $10 you can get the corn, Two tacos and an alcohol free drink. During regular hours the carne asada taco alone is almost $6. It is a street style taco (one taco with a small corn tortilla) so I think the price is a bit pricey during regular hours. The service was great, and the decor is trendy but again I only would come back for the lunch special.

Suzanne L.

Yelp
the food was decent but the restaurant was empty and I didn't get my margarita until after all the food was almost done. And the waitress brought the bill without our asking and took away my margarita when it was half full (10 min after it was served).

Yelp
I was FLOORED when I discovered, completely by happenstance, that there is a Tacombi in our local DMV area! I rarely anymore head over to the Maryland side of town but had to be in the Bethesda area and since it had been years since I had "played" in MoCo, I hit up Yelp to search for a cool, fun, casual place to have a bite with friends. And LO AND BEHOLD UP POPPED TACOMBI. Floored because it was less than a month prior that I had stumbled on this gem of a place in the Design District of Miami - and I RAVED about that place (read my review and view my pics)! That Miami location had apparently just opened up shortly before I ate there. When I came to this Bethesda Row location (June 2022), I found out that they had JUST opened that location as well! (There is also a NoVA location in Crystal City that I will definitely be trying out and reporting on.) Btw - how about this amazing Bethesda Row area?! First I had heard of it and first time visit for me. SO COOL, SO FUN, all my favorite shops and restaurants that I love so much! A perfect place to go for weekend brunch or spend an afternoon, stroll, hang - especially on a beautiful day. Memories of when we used to do that in downtown Bethesda back in its hay day. Too bad it's just a little too far away for this to be a go-to for me. But you MoCo-ites, you must go! So back to Tacombi. Everything I loved about the Miami Design District location, I love about this Bethesda location. * Beautifully designed and decorated restaurant and interior. The entire front face of the restaurant opens up to the outdoors! IT IS SO COOL. (Beware: you may get tired of reading the word "cool" ha.) JUST LOOK AT MY PICS. The white, teal, yellow and red color scheme is vibrant and so fun. They thought of everything in designing the space. * Big restaurant with loads of seating * Complimentary tortilla chips. Ask for them because I don't know if they would bring them to your table if you don't ask. * Exceptional service - everyone who works there from the hosts/hostesses, servers, bussers/runners, cooks all look like they work as a team and enjoy each other and what they do. Makes for exceptional service! * Menu items are authentic Mexican taqueria fare. The soft tacos are SO GOOD no matter what meat you choose. They also have an all veggie taco. The ONE CRITICISM I have is that they are a bit stingy and skimpy on the amount of meat that's put into the tacos. I'm comparing this to how filled the tacos were at the Miami location (see my pics). Bethesda - if you can fatten up your tacos a bit more, you might hear less complaints from the 1 Star naysayers about the value of your menu items. Here are the items we love: - The complimentary freshly made tortilla chips - small triangles, crispy, crunchy and salted just so. - Any and all tacos - love being able to order them individually by the each, mix and match - Corn Esquites - street corn in a cup sprinkled with a topping of queso fresco - great to dip tortilla chips into - shareable for 2 - Rice & Beans - shareable for 2 - Agua Fresca - OMG GET THIS - YOU WILL BE HOOKED! Soooooooo refreshing! Ask for light ice (so they don't fill up your cup with mostly ice - better yet, get it without ice and ask for a glass of ice on the side!). PRO TIP I learned from the hostess: get it half and half Pineapple and Watermelon! So good! Tacombi feels like a throwback to what you would envision a local mom and pop street food joint to be like in a small Mexican town or on the streets of Cuba. It's just a really really fun, vibey place with great authentic Mexican-street-taco cuisine. RECOMMEND!

Yelp
When you walk in, you're greeted with festive music, and colors. Some of the decor made me reminisce about the 90s, but that's ok because the 90s were the best decade. ;-) Everything here is made fresh here. Be forewarned - this place is a little pricey! From a vegetarian POV, this place serves authentic tacos; more meat options with at least two vegetarian options. They're served tapas style, with corn tortillas. (Flour tortillas are offered too). To give you an idea, my friend and I split a margarita pitcher- a glass pitcher (fancy!). That was about $55. Expensive but delicious tho, so pace yourself! Any seasonal margs coming soon?! As for food, I ended up getting the two vegetarian tostadas. I have to say the sweet potato one was OK, but my favorite was the avocado. It was so good I ordered a second one. My friend ordered the chicken and fish tacos which she highly recommends. However, she agreed that the veggie tostada was the best though. The hosts and servers were sweet, welcoming, and love to make jokes with you. You will walk in and out with a smile on your face even if you had a bad day. To sum it up, you got drinks, tacos, vibrant atmosphere-what more can you want?! HUGE PLUS: they are always open to suggestions. Please consider using impossible or beyond meat products. You guys will get a huge vegetarian following, please and thank you!

Yelp
Restaurant atmosphere is a great set up! Big open space, bright colors, half inside/half outside so perfect place to go to when it's nice weather! I wish I could've sat there all night eating the chips and guac there! Shrimp and carne asada tacos were fabulous! I enjoyed the spicy sauce it came with and the corn tortillas! Service was attentive and friendly! They took care of me right away and multiple servers checked in to ensure we were enjoying our experience! Will certainly be back, great spot with great food!

Yelp
Amazing food complemented by the friendly and helpful staff, Marina did a great job helping me unwind. I was not only greeted with a friendly smile but also was assisted the entire time, making this experience a normal occurrence at Tacombi. This location floor plan is nice and open. On a warm summer day, the breeze helps you relax while filling up. Be ready to relax and have a smile plastered across your face! Side note, I would have normally taken pics, but the flavors overtook me.

Yelp
This is our go-to spot in Bethesda! It's such a fun environment and feels like an oasis away from the crowds downtown. The staff is always great, and Gigi goes above and beyond for her guests. We are OBSESSED with the red hot sauce on the tables--it's good on everything on the menu. And the agua frescas are a must in the summer heat. Don't sleep on this place even though it's hiding behind the construction :)

Yelp
Tasty Pricey New Taco Spot! I recently visited the newly opened Taco eatery in downtown Bethesda. It's location on Bethesda Ave. literally around the corner from Chase Bank. It has a big sign "Tacombi" flanked by a huge open space outside its doors. The decor is "white on white" small metal chairs/bistro tables. The specialized menu evokes "Mexican Street Food" featuring tacos, burritas (think taco sandwiches), guacamole and chips, corn esquites (whole kernel corn dish) & several other options. Mexican drinks includes "Aguas Frescas" (fruit drinks made fresh daily), Auga De Sandia (watermelon) & Auga De Pina (pineapple). Mexican sodas & cocktails i.e. traditional Margaritas are on the menu too. The food is made fresh to order. I ordered the "Carnitas" Taco, corn esquires & Auga De Pina for carry out. The charming lady took my order using what looked like a mini iPad. Order took about 10 minutes. When I opened my meal to eat-I noticed a fine presentation. Taco securely boxed in a petite aluminum container w/food labeled-Carne Asada. I guess it didn't speak clearly when placing my order. I ate said taco. I'll admit it seemed small, not much fillings/toppings just some chopped onions. The corn topped w/cotija cheese & a creamy sauce. Very flavorful, fresh corn-generous portion. The pineapple drink tasty w/a refreshing effervescent flavor. It was very sweet & strong pineapple flavor. Courteous/friendly service. This place is pricey. Worth a another visit-to try the guacamole and chips.

Yelp
Worst restaurant I've ever been. service was quick, however the food was subpar and our food got mixed up so easily. The tables are tiny and we barely had any room for the 100 plates that were on our table due to our food coming out at all different times. We are appalled to say the least.

Yelp
Tried this Bethesda location for takeout. Ordered a couple burritos and pastor tacos. Asked for some cheese on the burrita(as Tacombi calls a burrito). Anyway to our surprise the cheese came on the side-in a small cup. The cheese did not even fill the cup halfway. Asked for some salsas and also in a quite small cup. The food came as ordered and was ok. The burrito was maybe a third a size of what you'd get a mom and pop Mexican place. The tacos were put together well. easy online ordering and pick up. The value for price is just not here.

Yelp
We love the carne asada taco (with lime!) and the corn esquites! Sometimes in the summer our family likes to sit outside and have chips and guacamole. - M, age 7

Yelp
Started going to Tacombi in NYC and now it's closer to home in Bethesda! Great service from Julia and great tacos as always! Thank you!
