Tacombi - Long Island City

short: great one & done spot, as in okay I checked it out but not going back kinda place long: I was invited by coworkers to have tacos and a drink. The place looks pretty cool, like a mechanic's garage converted into a restaurant. The place was almost full and it was only about 12:15pm. I like the big open space layout. I was very disappointed when my taco arrived. It looked like a tiny toy taco for a toddler. It was the size of a cute little taco, which would have been okay if I didn't pay the price of a premium full-size adult taco. It seemed like the entire thing had one small shrimp cut into three pieces. It tasted great. The drink: they could have served me seltzer water because that's what it seemed like to me. Not even the slightest buzz. I do not recommend this place: not for food, not for drinks.

We chose the LIC Tacombi branch to try the so-called Mexican City’s only Michelin-starred Taqueria Tacos because it’s the least busy location, and it was the right decision, though we always go to Tacombi and prefer the better service at the Williamsburg location. Both Steak and chicken tacos were wonderfully delicious. The chicken was lean yet quite tender, and the steak was divinely juicy and tender, let alone the hot sauces that were served with that brightened up the flavor of the tacos that were already so great! We loved the whole experience and hope Tacombi brings Taqueria back in NYC again!

This place was recommended to me. The food I ordered , supposed to be a quesadilla had no flavor, no spices, and mini portion for a big price. After eating there I was still hungry and went to eat somewhere else.

It was an absolute delight! The tacos were to die for, and the staff was super friendly. Perfect for a quick bite with family and friends.

Stopped by for a quick bite since we were staying across the street. Started out with the guac which was great and enjoyed the crispy fish and Al pastor tacos (pictured). I also enjoyed the Beef Birria. Glad we stopped by!

Although the Al pastor roasting on a spit got me really excited for the tacos here, sadly the meat tasted as if it was pre-carved / pre-cooked and sitting there for a long time. It was super dry, and such a bummer. Probably won’t be back again.

What can I say... I really wanted to like this place. The food - I ordered the Beef Birria Tacos 🌮 and one AL Pastor. Both tacos lacked flavor and had little to no salt. Two different types of tacos, and they both tasted the same, "Bland". The best thing this restaurant had going was the hot sauces on the table. 😋 I could drink that as a main course. The beer was nice and cold, and the ambiance was good. I read the label on the hot sauce and realized that this a chain restaurant. 😥 I would not give it a second chance.

Whoa! I haven't been in a while and it was delicious. Everyone was so nice and helpful, the place was nice and clean. Hospitality was A1! Got a mix of things: Tacos, Quesadillas, and the Vegana Burrita - which was my favorite along with all the sauces. Will definitely be back soon!

It's fine. Taco Tuesday deal is a great deal for NYC and this neighborhood. The tacos alone are probably 3 stars, maybe 3.5. The al pastor is definitely disappointing. Really does not punch you in the mouth like it should. Service is poor. Trying to get napkins, water, drinks, salsa, and the check took multiple requests every time.

First time coming to Tacombi. We came here to try the 'Tacombi y Califa de Leon' collab and definitely will be coming back in the future. The food and vibes were amazing. Service was also great and Sara was especially kind to us.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon after tufting nearby and got seated immediately. It's quite spacious inside and a sink in the back for you to wash your hands after you eat (which came in handy when all the delicious oil and sauces ended up on my hand instead of in my mouth). We got al pastor tacos, al pastor quesadilla, carne asada, baja taco, shrimp taco and corn esquites. Food came out quickly and I definitely recommend sitting in and eating as opposed to take out because the food probably doesn't travel well and you lose the freshness right off the grill. Staff was very friendly and comes around often enough to ask if there's anything else they can help with.

I'm a little delayed in my review here. I was staying at the hotel across the street and the front desk recommended it. It turned out Tuesday is buy one get one 1/2 off. Great deal. On other days, if you show your hotel room key they give a discount. I wasn't super hungry but decided to try a couple tacos and a glass of wine. The tacos were good. Unique offerings and were very flavorful. Service was ok. I was given red wine instead of white but I was fine with it. I don't think the service was very attentive. I sat outside at a high top and the stools are small, metal, and really uncomfortable. I did not go inside so can't comment on that. Overall, the food was fresh and flavorful but there was nothing that stood out that makes me want to rush back.

Warm and creamy corn in a cup. Can we ask for more? This location is spacious with high ceilings and both indoors and outdoors ceiling. Kids and family friendly.

We craved Mexican food and stopped by Tacombi, a taqueria in Long Island City. True to its description, Tacombi offered a taste of Mexico - from authentic tacos to refreshing cocktails. The spacious interior had a cool vibe, and the open kitchen buzzed with energy.  We began with their guacamole con totopos ($14.98). The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and perfectly portioned for the accompanying crispy chips. The tacos we ordered:  * Baja Crispy Fish (beef-battered cod with poblano mayo, pickled cabbage, and pico de gallo, $6.98 each): This one was our favorite! The cod was both crispy and tender, and the cole slaw on top added a refreshing, creamy touch. * Beef Birria (Jalisco brisket and Chihuahua cheese, served with consume, $6.49 each): The beef was insanely juicy and flavorful. The only thing - we wished there was more consume for dipping the tacos. * Sinaloa Shrimp (seared fresh shrimp & cheese sensation, $6.49 each): Loved this taco too! It comes with a spicy sauce, so be warned - go light if you're not a spice fan. * Carne Asada (chopped steak with grilled onions and chiles toreados, $6.98 each): The carne asada wasn't our favorite. The steak was a bit bland. It wasn't bad, though - it had a decent grilled flavor. We also ordered their spicy margarita ($14), agua de sandia (watermelon, $3.98), and horchata ($3.98). All three were super tasty and refreshing! The service was great, friendly and attentive. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the food is definitely delicious. Keep in mind the tacos are on the smaller side, so plan on ordering 3-4 per person. Overall, if you're in the neighborhood and craving some delicious tacos in a cool spot, Tacombi is definitely worth checking out!

Came here for dinner on a Friday night! My friend made a reservation because we had 4 people, but it seemed like we would have been fine walking in. The place looked busy for takeout and delivery though. Food: Chain restaurant that has multiple locations in NYC. You write your order on the provided paper menu and give it to the server. - Corn Esquites: HIGHLY recommend the street corn! Comes off the cob in a cup, and it's the perfect starter for the rest of the meal with its hit of lime and cotija cheese. - Tacos: Small size, so I would recommend getting 3+ per person Seared Fish (cod) - moist fish topped with cabbage and cilantro. Good option for summertime since it tastes lighter than the meat options. Carne Asada (steak) - Solid but not the best carne asada I've ever had. Al Pastor (pork) - Can see the pork cooking in the open air kitchen! It comes with cilantro and pineapple on top. It's good but again not the best al pastor I've ever had Service/Ambiance: fast, efficient service! Food came out quickly. Casual vibes here. There is indoor and outdoor seating here. Overall: Solid chain Mexican restaurant, but if I had to choose between here and Los Tacos No. 1, then I would pick the latter!

I've been to Tacombi a number of times. It is a good solid spot in the neighborhood for Mexican food. The space is very large, decorated as the other locations are. The last time I went, the AC was broken, and it was sweltering. They have a BOGO Tuesday taco happy hour (although looking at the way they calculated the bill, it wasn't quite BOGO -- but close enough). Service was fine. There is a kids menu with crayons for coloring, and there are high chairs. I've tried a number of the dishes, including multiple tacos (fish, sweet potato, chicken) and quesadillas. Everything I've had has been really good. I've also tried some of the agua frescas, and I particularly like the watermelon. Tacombi is a great addition the neighborhood and a really nice option for a quick sit down meal. I would definitely recommend, and I will continue to go.

Perfect local spot to fulfill all my taco cravings in LIC. Birria and crispy fish tacos are a must! They have great HH deals Monday through Friday. The Sandia Santa was my favorite. Jesse was also super attentive and took great care of us!

Lived near Tacombi LIC for some time and came here a few times. Never had to make a reservation, the restaurant is pretty big, with outdoor seating as well so even during peak hours we never had to wait. Our servers were always nice and pretty efficient. We love the fairly authentic tacos here as well as the reasonable pricing. We always get the guac and chips, even though it's very simple, it always tastes fresh and delicious. We then each got some tacos and quesadillas and we always leave very satisfied. What we love about the restaurant is the ambiance; it's doors are wide open to the outside and you really feel like you are on the streets of Mexico, it's great for on a nice warm day!

Came here to try a new place in the area. It's a bonus I made it to happy hour. It's a super cute, quiet, and clean restaurant. The ambiance is fun and adorable. The people are really sweet, attentive, and patient. You can tell a lot of the food is made fresh from the chips to the guacamole. They even gave me a refill on the chips just before I ran out for free which allowed me finish every last scoop of guac! I do wish the guacamole had tomatoes but that's just my preference and the margarita was pretty good too it didn't taste much like pineapple mostly alcohol do what you want with that information. I would definitely come back.

The tacos here are very yum! But wow are they pricey! ~$7 for the majority of the tacos. I highly recommend visiting during Taco Tuesday, which has a BOGO taco deal. My favorite was the crispy fish taco. I enjoy the seafood tacos, so the shrimp taco came in second place for me, but I wouldn't order again. It definitely wasn't as memorable as the crispy fish. I also tried the carne asada, but I wasn't a fan of that one. The meat was chewy. The place has a nice casual vibe. It gets more lively later in the night, and there's some patio seating. There wasn't a long wait for the tacos, so we were in and out within 30-40 minutes. It's very easy to scarf down a few tacos in several minutes, so my party took a very short time to finish our meal. I think if you're in the mood for Happy Hour (drinks) and come on a Taco Tuesday, the trip will be worth it, but I personally couldn't justify ordering from the menu at full price...

Always a great experience with Tacombi. Whether visiting for a casual dinner, a celebration -- or even just grabbing take-out -- the food and drink are consistently delicious and the vibe is always good. The service is pretty laid back, but everyone working is warm and friendly.

Our company's NYC leadership were treated to some top-notch hospitality last night at Tacombi Long Island City. Wanted to share how right at home Manager Nalani and Jaime made us all. Above and beyond, big thank you! If you haven't been, the tacos--especially the Baja Fish--are some of the best I've had. Esquites amazing. ,Perfect work dinner in LIC with chill vibe, good lighting and great music. We'll definitely be back!

Popped in Saturday night wasn't too crowded but their delivery business was boomin'. Servers were helpful and pleasant. The birria could have had more meat but, it had all the right flavors, wasn't a fan of the deep fried taco. It was good I was just looking for healthier. Guacamole portion was large and I loved eating it without the chips! Their corn esquitas was amazing and the way it's served too!

Chain taco spot located all over NYC. Great location in LIC and great for the summer time with the outdoor seating. Can accommodate large parties and service is quick. Really enjoyed their crispy Baja fish tacos the most. Carne tacos were just okay, a bit on the dry side. Guac and chips at tacombi is always a hit.

I am staying at a hotel in the neighborhood, and after a crazy check-in I asked the front desk where I could grab dinner. Before the front desk person could answer, two gentlemen in the seating area nearby suggested Tacombi. One of them also said, after my check-in I should try a margarita. I was expecting a traditional eatery, and this was not. The location is more like a warehouse space with metal chairs and tables. I was so hungry I decided to stay, and I am glad I did! The waiter was friendly and arrived immediately. I was also greeted by whom I think was the manager. The waiter suggested the asada and carnitas tacos - which I ordered. I also ordered the chips and guacamole and a classic margarita. I enjoyed my time here as i ate. Music was piped in and I watched as it filled with people. I had arrived early - @5:30 pm and only 2 men occupied the bar and I was the first to sit at my pick of tables. I was surprised it was empty and the board outside advertised 'Happy Hour'. The food hit the spot and the margarita was better and tastier than the one I had last week in Los Cabos Mexico. Both tacos were delicious, but on this night the carnitas won my two tacos taste test. The guacamole was fresh. I felt it was a bit pricey, and I noticed my bill had a full priced margarita (not Happy Hour pricing) and the manager corrected the mistake quickly with apologies. I did not see burritos or tostadas on the menu as others mentioned in their reviews. My menu had tacos and quesadillas hmmm I enjoyed my meal and the service. I just don't understand the metal table and chairs, so I am deducting a star. . I guess they want a fast turnover. Also, it seemed much of their business was takeout and delivery. Would I go back? Yes.

Great place to grab some tacos and drinks. Came here during happy hour with the dogs, glad they still had the outdoor seating available. Asad was our server and he was great! Very attentive and brought me a hat too! Tacos were surprisingly very good (saying that as a Socal native)

WOW. I cannot tell you how absolutely DELICIOUS and satisfying these tacos were. I also got a small guacamole with chips which was so fresh. Chunky home-made guacamole...perfect with just the right amount of chips for each scoop. The shrimp taco was to die for! OMG. Every bite, with the green sauce they served it with, was an explosion of amazing compatible flavors. The beef birria was also full of flavor and some fresh. The grilled cod I recommend as well. Very Light with mild flavor. Grilled is always nice. I also ordered a margarita on the rocks with No salt. I highly recommend eating here and this location I really enjoyed. It is Absolutely worth with every penny. So satisfying. Nice ambiance. Light and airy. Nice staff. Servers were great. Smiles and so polite. 10 out of 10. Fantastic.

Wow! The freshness of the food, the incredible hospitality, the perfect mezcal drinks - this is a top tier Mexican food experience. The esquites were so flavorful, the tacos al pastor bursting with perfect seasoning - but the guacamole con totopos was the freshest most wonderful thing. The giant chunks of avocado with a hint of lime made this one of the best spots i've found in LIC

The employee in charge of cleaning the plates was coughing loudly into her hands and then cleaning the plates. We waited to see if it was a one time thing but unfortunately she kept doing. She even looked at us, saw we were upset by her actions, she put on gloves and then kept coughing into the plates! We were going to tell the manager until we saw them joking around together. Against our better judgement, we decided to stay and eat, and now my son is sick. NEVER going back here.

Ill start ambiance gave off feeling of the outskirts of boston. A very factory spacious and relaxed feeling. The server was very kind and attentive. Lastly the food was very delicous. We came to try the michelien rated chefs menu but it tried some of sides the resturant has to offer. It all felt very fresh and just right.

I ordered a pineapple margarita which was delicious. Guacamole and chips small which is decent for two people. The battered fish was good and the seared fish taco is spicy but also filling. Al the tacos are small and I think overpriced. The carne asada had a lot of fat and was more chewy than I would have liked. I didn't like the flavor of them. Server was attentive. They could use better quality napkins at the tables and bathroom (toilet paper) I might come again for the drinks.

I wish I could gatekeep this place, but Tacombi definitely has the best tacos in the LIC. Skip the food trucks, skip the Michelin restaurant, just trust me and come here Plus! They have Taco Tuesday, which means BOGO tacos And happy hour prices on certain cocktails+beer 10/10 spot, run, don't walk ‍

I had never been to Tacombi, but with so many popping up, I was excited to see one in the neighborhood. However, I have to say it's just okay. I tried the guacamole, but it had a heavy chip to dip ratio. Additionally, I sampled the vegetarian quesadilla, avocado tostada, and black bean and sweet potato tostada. While they were decent, I found the food to be pretty average compared to the multitude of tasty Mexican options available in NYC. As for the drinks, I've tried the horchata agua fresca, which I do enjoy, as well as the spicy margarita and paloma. However, they weren't much more exciting than a cocktail I can make at home. With so many other offerings in the neighborhood, Tacombi is one of the places I visit on the less frequent side.

While not the most delicious taco in NYC, Tacombi consistently hits the spot and does it at a slightly more affordable price than other NY chains, such as Los Tacos No. 1. This particular location is ideal for lunch before you venture to PS 1 museum or hop on the subway near Court Square. Food: the carnitas and pollo have all the right flavor profiles. Savory and seasoned, the meat is balanced by the right amount of rice and beans. Purists won't like that combo but since I'm not in Cali, I'm here to be full and not be authentic! The salsa options are fine too, although the choices are better at Los Tacos No. 1. Oh well uno. 4/5 Service: prompt, friendly, bilingual, and always cleaning. You may find it Alittle disconcerting as the staff hover near the tables but you will have no problem getting extra salsa or water. 5/5 Ambiance: industrial kitchen chic, with some nice bright colors fitting for a Latino vibe. Lots of tables and seating indoors and a covered outside seating area too. The bathrooms are clean so plus for that. 4/5

I love Tacombi. I've been to there various locations multiple times. This is one of their newer locations and everything was great The service was super friendly and helpful. The drinksnwere amazing we tried the Sandia and the pineapple one both were great. For food we got various different tacos from fish to chicken to pork all was great. For sides we tried the corn which was amazing! We also had the rice and beans which were good too.

One of the best tacos I have ever had. Really love their seafood tacos, and birria taco. Quesadillas are also super good cos of the cheese, and I love the carne asada one too. Taco Tuesday is definitely a vibe!

Good taco spot that's reasonably priced. I've actually never eaten inside and have always gotten delivery. The decor is lively and fun and we were seated very quickly. Also next to each table is a mini coat hanger to put your stuff on which was convenient. I got la bisteca, which was the beef burrito. At the table there was a green and red salsa that definitely added some much needed heat. My friend also ordered the corn esquites and they had a nice smoky flavor to them. Solid option for Mexican food in the area.

Delicious tacos! Been twice in this place and both times loved their food: tacos, quesadillas, soda. Very close to something I have had on the west coast. Only the price is holding me down to come there every day and become a taco myself.

Nice spot! This was my first time at any Tacombi and I'd gladly go back. I went with two friends and got two tacos (seared fish and black bean&sweet potato) and a maya cola. Everything was good! Service was fast as well and the space was spacious and relaxing. I also loved that they had a taco hand washing station - so cute!

I was in the neighborhood yesterday and I decided to go and order food at Tacombi. I ordered the Adobada Al Pastor (roasted pork burrito) I asked the server if it came with Sour cream and she said we don't serve sour cream! How on earth are you gonna sell Burritos, casadillas, tacos etc without Sour cream! Absolutely unacceptable. Second, my server Nayeli h never checked to see if I was ok after I ordered my food. Mind you it wasn't that busy!!! And then her manager kept staring at me like I didn't belong at the restaurant. My money is green like everybody else! People need to stop staring at black people in certain spaces like we don't belong! It's so disgraceful. I will never go back to this restaurant! Poor service!!!!!
