Tacos Del Barrio - Review - Prospect Heights - New York - The Infatuation

"Central Brooklyn has had a few taquerias open in the past few months (see La Taq, Barbacoa Tio), and Tacos Del Barrio is the latest. The CDMX-style spot in Prospect Heights does tacos, burritos, and flautas filled with pollo asada, carne asada, al pastor, fried shrimp, fried fish, or mushrooms. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

My breakfast after my run. 🏃🏻‍♂️ I think I've eaten tacos at least 100 taco 🌮 places or Mexican restaurants in NYC , from Spanish Harlem, Brooklyn, Jackson Heights, Manhattan, and more. The ones that came from California, or Mexico City ( which I visited as well ) with the hype or without the hype, the ones that have been around in the city for many years or less. These are the best tacos to date. The taco 🌮 Birria was delicate, delicious, with the traditional seasoning that envelops the meat and the tortilla itself like poetry. The chicken quesadilla with cheese was soft and tender, precise and wonderful, the chicken taco was perfect, soft, precise, elegant like anything I've tasted. The place looks like a pharmacy, clean, polished, everything is fresh, the sauces are excellent, especially the avocado lime 🍋‍🟩 🥑and everything else. It is a High-end and very smart Mexican food. A simply wonderful place, many thanks to the kind staff. I buy a breakfast like this every day.

Can’t comment on atmosphere because I haven’t physically been there YET but we ordered for a work event and not only was the food delivered before time, it was still warm, and packed neatly. They provided tons of fixings (cilantro, onions, sauce, lime…everything other restaurants skimp on) and adequate utensils! Everything was amazing! I think we ordered every taco tray possible so I can’t even say which was my favorite. They were all delicious and let’s just say, that Mexican street corn was better than the ones in Mexico! Literally ate a whole tray of them! They’re juicy, seasoned just right and fun sized! I would absolutely order from them again and will definitely visit the venue sometime in the near future…

Tacos Del Barrio brings the taste of Mexico, heat and flavor to the Brooklyn Taco Scene! I've been eagerly awaiting a really standout taco spot in Brooklyn and I'm thrilled to say Tacos Del Barrio has absolutely delivered! From the moment you step in, the vibrant decor and lively atmosphere promise a good time, and the food more than lives up to that promise.

This new spot? Oh, it's a hoot! The food is so good it'll make you wanna slap yo' mama (don't actually do that, though). But listen, if you get a taco, for the love of all that is holy, remember the sauce! I had a taco so dry it practically turned to dust in my mouth. My bad, I know, but learn from my mistakes, people! The place itself is, shall we say, "cozy." And by "cozy," I mean it's smaller than my walk-in closet, which makes the line look like a confused game of human Tetris. Seriously, nobody knows where to stand! But let me tell you, the service? Top-notch! They're probably used to the chaos, bless their hearts. I went with a bowl and a taco, and they were both solid contenders in the deliciousness department. But then I saw someone walk by with a burrito, and good grief, it was the size of a newborn baby! They clearly don't believe in holding back. So if you're feeling ambitious (or just really, really hungry), aim for the burrito – you won't be disappointed!

I don’t do a lot of reviews but after finding out this is a local business started by an ambitious high schooler, I want to give it the credit it deserves! This is exactly what park slope needed!! Reminds me of Los tacos 1 (no frills, quality made to order tacos) if you’re ever craving a taco spot but you’re in Brooklyn! Definitely my go to from now on :) We got 4 tacos (shrimp, chicken, Al pastor, steak) and a quesadilla. Forgot to take pictures of everything else we got because it was so good, quesadilla surprised me because they charred the melted cheese which was amazing!

An Absolute Gem of a Mexican Restaurant! From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is something special. The space is spotless and welcoming — simple, clean, and full of charm. The menu is refreshingly focused, offering just the right number of dishes, each one clearly crafted with care and passion. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite is bursting with bold, authentic flavor — nothing feels rushed or overdone. You can taste the quality in every ingredient, and the balance of spices is spot on. What really sets this place apart is the young owner. Polite, professional, and genuinely passionate about what he does — it's inspiring to see someone so dedicated to both great food and excellent service. His warmth and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of the experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for real Mexican flavor in a place that feels like it was built with heart. This is the kind of restaurant you root for!

This is a fast casual taco spot in downtown Brooklyn. Similar to the ones in the city but they’re switching it up a little. The atmosphere is set up nice. They have indoor and outdoor dining. The menu has a good variety of options to choose from. I got the birria, fish, steak, and pork tacos. The corn ribs are a must. Jarritos for the Bev. They make all the tortillas fresh in house. The meats were cut up nice and cooked well. The birria tacos had a crispy layer of cheese and if you buy 3 you get FREE consome. I’m not a big fan of fish tacos but these were pretty good the fish was soft and crispy. The tacos were good overall. The corn ribs??? It was my first time trying corn ribs and they are FIRE. The sauce and toppings are really good. Can’t go wrong with the Jarritos. I ended it off with the tres leches and I was impressed. I got the strawberry. That small cup was just right. It had a good amount of sweetness and milky flavors. Thank you so much to Aiden. He’s only 18 years old and is doing amazing things with this taco shop. Service is good here.

This place was good I had the steak tacos, they tasted fresh and the kitchen was super clean. The staff was friendly and I was happy to see that there was seating however it didn’t seem as if they fully utilized the space, I feel like they could add more seating and spruce up the atmosphere a little bit more. Also o feel like the food is a bit pricey here, expect around 5-6 dollars per taco
