Was recently on a visit in LA and my friend brought me here. The exterior, (pink design) threw me off, but should be an actual hint as to how eclectic and fun the interior is. As soon as I set foot in the door, I immediately had a grin from ear to ear. From the amazing stain-glass (behind the bar,) the painted mural, the curio cabinets in the back...there is so much to take in.
We order the "frozen drink of the day," which was a spicy, mango, margarita. It was the perfect texture (so you could actually get a drink out of the straw,) unlike places that put in so much ice, that you can't even drink out of the straw. The spice was a slow after-kick at the back of the tongue, like a tingle. I will definitely order this next time, too.
Luckily, I was not there alone...because the order of guacamole was extremely generous. There must have been at least 9+ avocados in there and the fresh pico de gallo was placed on top (not mixed in, like some other places do, in order to hide that it is not so fresh.) I think that this might be the best guacamole I've ever had at a restaurant.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars, is because our waitress was rushing us to order, (looking at her watch) and stopped by twice in 5 minutes or less to see if we were "ready YET." Then the elderly woman (2 tables down) asked for assistance getting out from behind the table, (she had a walker and the table was too heavy to push out of the way.) The waitress seemed exasperated by the request and almost seemed happy to see the patron leave.
A great place for drinks, food and atmosphere, though.
