The Very Best Tacos Around Miami | Eater Miami

"This unassuming food truck — located in a charming garden adjacent to a gas station parking lot in North Miami Beach — has people from around town lining up for its tacos. The signature El Machine Gon taco, stuffed with steak, chorizo, pork skin, onion, and cilantro, is a must-try, along with the Baja-style shrimp tacos." - Olee Fowler

The 11 Best Tacos In Miami

"Tacos El Machine Gon is a taco truck that sets up next to a gas station on the border of North Miami Beach and Aventura—and we love everything on the small menu. Their self-titled "tacos El Machine Gon" features a triple meat combination: sliced steak, rich Mexican chorizo, and crisp yet puffy pieces of pork rind. But please don't come here without getting a costra. It's blue corn tortillas wrapped around crispy logs of griddled cheese filled with your choice of steak, chicken, mushroom, or shrimp. Wash it all down with their house horchata, one of the best in Miami. And there's seating too, so you can eat there." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

The Best Things We Ate This Week

"Costras This taco truck on Miami Gardens Drive is in that intermediate space that’s technically North Miami Beach but feels like Aventura. We were blown away by both the quality and the attention to detail here. Everything is delicious and tastes like what you’d find at a modern taqueria in Mexico City, but we completely fell head over heels in love with the costras. If you remember those double stuffed cheesy type things from Taco Bell, this may remind you of something similar but so, so, so much better. El Machine Gon melts Chihuahua cheese (no relation to the little dog) on a griddle until one side is crunchy, and then loads it up with meat or mushrooms before rolling it up into a crispy, cheesy log. It then gets stuffed into a blue corn tortilla with onions, jalapeños, and pureed avocado. Once you bite into the melty cheese, your mouth gets flooded with the juicy flavorful filling. This is definitely one of the best tacos in Miami right now." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

Tacos El Machine Gon - Review - North Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"There is a taco rift in Miami. We have traditional Mexican tacos that are comforting and just what you want alongside a salty margarita after a long day. And then there are the "gourmet" tacos that taste like what it feels like to be at a confusing Art Basel show. Rarely do both types of tacos combine into one flawless experience, but Tacos El Machine Gon is one of the few exceptions in Miami. Tacos El Machine Gon is a North Miami Beach food truck that sets up on a patch of astroturf adjacent to a gas station. Its name will make anyone familiar with Mexican slang (and Miami’s official language, Spanglish) chuckle. It’s a play on words that sounds close to “el más chingón,” which is a Mexican saying that essentially translates to: “the most fucking amazing.” It’s a pretty bold claim, but it’s not just overconfident marketing. The tacos at El Machine Gon really are los más chingones. The attention to even the smallest detail in every dish goes beyond any taqueria we’ve visited in Miami. They use blue corn tortillas that not only look striking but also add a pleasantly chewy texture to every bite you take. The meat fillings are tender, and not-at-all greasy. Even the horchata is made with quality cinnamon, and you can definitely taste the difference. But contrary to what the farm-to-table folks will tell you, quality ingredients only take you so far. What El Machine Gon does with those ingredients is perfection. It’s like they’ve spent months in a lab engineering each dish, down to how many sprigs of micro cilantro and crumbles of cotija to add. Their signature dish (the tacos El Machine Gon) features a triple meat combination that has to be one of the most texturally satisfying bites in Miami: sliced steak, rich Mexican chorizo, and crisp yet puffy pieces of pork rind. But this place still delivers even if you don’t care about cheffy details and just want to sit under some string lights with generous amounts of stretchy, melted cheese. It’s the cheesy dishes, in particular, that make us love this place so much. Case in point: the costras, which we like to describe as a shotgun wedding between a taco and a quesadilla. That this food is available from a truck behind a gas station is kind of trippy. But it’s also a shockingly pleasant little dining patio, especially since you don’t have to worry about eating on the side of the road while dodging Real Housewives of Aventura. Since they are a truck that occasionally caters private events, it’s wise to check their Instagram before you go to make sure they’re open. If they are open, you can bet on a delicious and refreshingly stress-free eating experience. There’s a merciful amount of off-street parking (including some vacant spots in the empty car wash out front) as well as a mix of picnic and bistro tables under a canopy of string lights. We love everything about eating here—so much that we might just start referring to them as El Más Chingón. They truly deserve the name. Food Rundown Steak Costras If you order just one thing at Tacos El Machine Gon, it should be a costra. We love the steak costras, but there are seriously no wrong choices when it comes to filling. These tacos feature blue corn tortillas wrapped around crispy logs of griddled cheese. As you bite through the chewy tortilla and crisp, golden-brown cheese, your tongue rides a wave of rich, meltiness. And then you get a flood of juicy marinated steak. Take a second to bask in the afterglow before realizing there is another costra and you get to do it all over again. Tacos El Machine Gon El Machine Gon’s signature taco is phenomenal. The mix of steak, crumbled Mexican chorizo, and puffy bits of pork crackling make for one of the most satisfying texture combinations we’ve tried. The guajillo salsa adds smoldering heat and smokiness. A squirt of lime over these tacos (two per order) is strongly recommended. Quesadillas El Machine Gon skips the single large flour tortilla in favor of three taco-sized blue corn tortillas, each stuffed with about an inch of Chihuahua cheese (no relation to the dog) and a mix of diced onions and jalapeños. The cheese ends up forming a crispy skin that gives way to even more melty cheese. A little bit of onion or jalapeño helps break up the richness. Esquites This is the forkable version of Mexican street corn for those who don’t want to fight with an ear of corn. El Machine Gon loads up a cup with mildly sweet kernels that are the perfect vehicle for the avalanche of crema and sharp cotija cheese that tops them. A prudent amount of chopped jalapeño and a dusting of chili powder give it enough heat without making it too spicy. Hochata This is the creamiest, richest horchata we’ve ever tried. It comes in a cute plastic bottle with El Machine Gon’s logo, features a perfect amount of real cinnamon (instead of acacia, a cheap substitution) and doesn’t have the grainy sediment you find in other horchatas. It’s like drinking liquid arroz con leche." - Carlos C Olaechea

Google
Only tried the Burger so far, but i was very impressed with the offerings Probably one of the best burgers in the general area, if you're looking for a serious one they use half a pound of beef for every patty, so if you end up with a double burger, its a whole pound of beef! they cook it to your preference and even the toppings were great the person who helped me was the owner and he was very friendly and took great care of me theyre open late, which is very convenient for a night owl the only issue i had was that the parking is somewhat limited for the spot (at least 3 food trucks)

Google
WOW fresh clean quick tacos. Got the esquites, mushroom tacos, and steak tacos and all were phenomenal. Definitely worth it as a vegetarian to get the mushroom option!! Extremely flavorful and the salsa on the side was HOT and smoky but also amazing as well. Would recommend!!

Must stop trying to for any tocos fans. One of best tacos I've had. Amazing tacos. Great food and service. Have nice cozy seating area. Located beside gas station. Will come back again when visiting. Keep up great job. Cheers

Google
They were super friendly and offered tacos on the house because I unfortunately was not too happy with the "el wero" tacos. The chicken was a little plain and wet. The tortilas weren't warmed or toasted 😕 My partners "machine gon" tacos were well cooked and the flavor was manageable but tortillas were the same. We were so excited to try this place as GPS sucked trying to get us there but the server was super friendly trying her best to make it up to us.

The food truck yard is so cute. They have enough tables to accommodate guests. I ordered a bacon cheese burger and it was delicious! Great flavor and juicy!

Google
Best tasting and quality food we have had in Miami! And the service is so great, very friendly. We always get the chicken tacos and chicken Costras and it’s amazing. Never leave hungry. We tried the mushroom quesadillas this time and it was good too!! Their salsa is super spicyyyy and sooo good! 😍

Google
I loved everything. The staff is so nice, the food is delicious and the prices are very affordable. Plus, the spot is beautiful and comfy... Will definitely go again 😁

Google
This place has hands down the best tacos in town! The wero taco with side of guacamole was incredible, and their freshly squeezed limoneda was the perfect complement.

Yelp
Absolutely the best tacos around--no question! The flavors are amazing, and the service is super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Well, I've been going to this Joint for awhile now. Some time ago I noticed they added Burgers to the lineup. Glossed over the Burger offerings on a few visits but this time I decided to take the plunge. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? An absolutely amazing Burger! As usual the service was fantastic! I ordered a Cheeseburger Medium Rare sans the onions, leaving the Garden and adding Grilled Mushrooms. One I got home and began to dig in, I was pleasantly surprised! The Burger was cooked perfectly! I mean there are only a handful of places I'll eat a Burger from because it never Comes Out Right! This is definitely one of my go to Burger spots.......now there are Three! To top off this visit, the proprietors Beautiful Baby Boy helping at the window. I'm sure he'll be running that window by himself in no time. Thanks for the great meal El Machine Gon, can't wait to see what you do next.

Yelp
Fresh and good! I had a beef stake taco which was really good! The truck owner was really nice and even brought the food to the camping table in front. She was very friendly and made sure I would ask if I needed anything else. The ambience is that of a food truck, though there are picnic tables in front.

Yelp
Tacos are excellent here. Not the cheapest but when you bite into one you'll recognize that the quality is much higher and the flavors more robust. We tried the steak, chicken costra, cochinita, steak machine gon, baja shrimp. My favorite was the chicken costra followed by steak machine gon, then cochinita which was very authentic & reminded me of Playa del Carmen.

Yelp
los peores tacos que e probado en asco tremenda peste las tortas a viejas y la carne un asco al final
google avatar

Claudette B.

Yelp
They had the food truck at Fairchild and it was so delicious! We got the costra tacos, one steak and one chicken . Both were really good but the steak taco was one of the best I've had, the melted cheese, cilantro, and avocado were a great mix and very fresh. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Russell F.

Yelp
I didn't go here. Too damn expensive. And from a truck. $15 for quesadillas??? I don't care how good they might be. A ripoff is a ripoff. But I'll give ya 5-stars for ballsiness alone, & your $13 tacos.

Alonso M.

Yelp
Best place to eat tacos in miami. Really good tasty and fresh. Highly recommended i try costras and it was an explosion of flavors on each bite

Yelp
I came here not knowing what to expect thinking that I wasn't going to get something authentic. This is some of the most amazing Mexican tacos and food in the area and is Mexico City inspired from what I'm told. I wish I could get some of these for lunch, but they only open for dinner. So worth it!

Yelp
Bro, they really are los Machine Gon (más chingon) This taco truck has changed my life in more ways than one and let me explain how that all happened. Well, I started with the Guac and was immediately impressed with the zesty and creamy consistency of the guacamole. Those tortilla chips were fresh af so you know I dug in. The holy grail for me was El Taco Machine Gon named after this legendary taco spot as their flagship taco. The crispy pork cracklings on top really added the crunch factor I needed in my life. The Shrimp taco was crunchy with the lime juice on top and the creamy sauce underneath, I was in heaven. Their quesadillas ARE FIRE!!! I love how they use blue corn tortillas made fresh by this husband&wife duo giving me the bite of Mexico I dearly love. I loved how creamy and cheesy the elote was! Honestly, I'm getting hungry just writing this review! The desserts are out of this world! Those dulce de leche churros...omg I was dropping dulce de leche everywhere without a care in the world. Then they have the paletas which I literally inhaled. My favorite was the mango chamoy because it reminds me of Mexico. I sipped on a Flor De Jamaica juice as I inhaled my tacos at this lovely outdoor food truck sector behind the Shell Gas station. I love everything about this place and I literally recommend you run here for your next taco Tuesday!
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
This Mexican food inspired food truck is so yummy. My favorite is the Mushroom Costra which is grilled cheese wrap stuffed with seasoned mushrooms and put into a blue corn tortilla. Also the Mas Chingon taco with pork rinds is pretty amazing. The quesadilla is very cheesy if you like that. They have natural juice like horchata to drink and fresh churros to end the meal. Tuesdays and Wednesdays they have specials BOGO. They are located on Miami Gardens drive and West Dixie highway behind the Shell gas station. There is a private area for all the food trucks with tables and a cool spot to hang out.
google avatar

Josette S.

Yelp
Where do I start? This food truck is amazing! Makes you want taco Tuesday everyday! The service is great! But let me talk about the food! Fists off just the tortillas alone are worth the visit. The guacamole is so fresh and delicious. You will want to put it on everything. Top highlights for me that's are a must tries, the costras, Baja shrimp tacos, the cantinflas taco, el machine con taco and the dessert the mango paletas and churros! All a must! Also I have to say there food truck garden is so cute. Loved sitting outside enjoying this amazing food.

Jeffry P.

Yelp
Some of the best tacos I've ever had. These are not your average taco truck tacos. Sure the price is a little steep, but it was worth it. The presentation was great, the flavors were bussin. Overall, it's gotta be one of the best tacos in Miami/Florida.

Aimee G.

Yelp
Tacos were just fine. Service atrocious. Waited close to 30 minutes for the items we ordered. Meanwhile, they call FOUR people who were behind us in line to get their orders. It's not like we ordered anything complicated, the menu is pretty limited. When we finally asked where our food was, they had the gall to call us rude. Pretty sure they had forgotten our order. All that and the food was just mediocre.
google avatar

Lila T.

Yelp
A hidden Gem! So glad i found this place! Its a courtyard behind the gas station with amazing food and atmosphere. I was in the mood for something sweet so we had the passion fruit paleta topped with Nutella and oreos and we also had the churros. Both to die for! Cant wait to try the tacos!!

Mari E.

Yelp
Best tacos I've ever tried in Miami. Try "el machine gon" and "costras". Better said everything is really good here!! It's a really good presention, taste and proportion. Everything is really good! The service is really good too, it was cold outside so the server took our food out to us :) I would really want to recommend people to come try some tacos here. I would come back again that's a fact! :D

Yelp
Amazing tacos !!! Delicious and savory !! 100% recommended . Service was great and fast and the convenience that is open till 12 am

Iraida G.

Yelp
Soooo glad we stopped back in tonight. We again enjoyed the street corn to no end. This time we had the Mexican Chorizo Quesadillas. Wowww!!!! Between the chorizo, the flavorful fillings, and the cheese, which is hot and melty inside but crispy on the outside spillage... PERFECTION!!!!! The service, as always... EXCELLENT!!!!!! You get amazing food and friendly, engaging service every time!!!! And the fact that they open late for us night owls... WhooHoo!!! Highly Highly Recommended!!!!!!

FixYour R.

Yelp
Just wasted 40 dollars on Taco Tuesday expecting at least some hot cook tacos gotta throw the whole thing away drove plus 25 mins and to top it off the corn was cold and the chicken in the taco was cold plus the taco Tuesday comes with 3 and they gave us two each after confirming we was getting 6 NEVER AGAIN!!!!
google avatar

Msjayfab G.

Yelp
The tacos here are pretty good but not so much the elote. The quesadilla is a MUST!!! Too bad this food truck isn't somewhere with a bigger crowd because they would kill it.
google avatar

Jojo S.

Yelp
The food had some fresh ingredients, but the menu was very misleading. Roasted corn was actually frozen corn and I paid a little more for the guac with different types of peppers and toppings, but instead I got bland guacamole that tasted like it came from a container... seeing the other reviews, I wish I could have the meals they did. I wish I could have loved this meal more but I was heavily disappointed.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
I know this place is known for tacos and costras...but if I could I would order the esquites by the pound, I would.

Vee M.

Yelp
For a taco truck on the side of a gas station, the outdoor seating was very cute and the overall atmosphere was inviting & family-friendly. Staff was very quick, polite and attentive. However.. for a $10+ order of tacos you shouldn't waste your time here. I was excited to try the "super authentic, super fresh" cantinflas steak tacos for $13, but it's pretty disappointing to realize I could've gone to Bodega, Coyo, or even Chipotle(!) for half the price and twice the flavor. It hurts to write a negative review on here, but my pockets are hurting even worse right now.
google avatar

Allen G.

Yelp
Very authentic and delicious chicken tacos and beef tacos .Service was good for a food truck.
google avatar

Abraham C.

Yelp
Super good tacos, great service. Really reminds me of back home. Try the costras or the tortas.
google avatar

Blair S.

Yelp
I was bummed they said they were going to be in a parking lot and they were not there so I'm not gonna waste my time looking for them again
google avatar

Tania V.

Yelp
Great tacos! All tacos have their own unique flavor. Fast and friendly service! Family friendly environment.
google avatar

Stepan K.

Yelp
Great place to get tacos. Friendly Stuff and nice surrounding. We had both melted cheese beef and chicken tacos. Both a great!
google avatar

Christian H.

Yelp
Been looking for authentic (not what the gringos call authentic) but the real good stuff and this food truck did not disappoint. Great flavor
google avatar

Gilbert B.

Yelp
Food is pretty good. But very expensive. Your better off going to a Mexican cuisine for that price. The Mexican food market is hot right now In miami hence why they charge an arm and leg. I'm 100% Mexican and I approve this spot. They aren't LA tacos but they are pretty good. A hint of advice to the owner. If I order food To go and pay a lot, please include some damn napkins and salsa. SMH. I got nothing when I got food to go! I'm still giving 5 stars, to not look like a hater.

Tatiana V.

Yelp
I ordered through Uber Eats and it's so good. El machine gone is so delicious the flavor is so good. The cantinflas are good, nothing particularly special. The elote is also delicious!! I got the one off the cob and it's so good

Alvaro G.

Yelp
Excellent, best tacos in Miami, the tortillas are amazing and the product is top notch

Bianca F.

Yelp
Ordered from Uber eats. App doesn't specify how many tacos come in order. Most places sell 3 per order but here it's only 2. So off price, I don't think it's worth it. On Uber eats they also had a "buy one, get one" elote but they only gave us one instead of two. Honestly for the price, just go elsewhere and you can find much better quality like at Pepe's street tacos. Food quality is OK but like I said - for the price, you can go somewhere else
google avatar

Leon J.

Yelp
The employees were super nice and the service was great. The out door patio is really pretty too. That being said, the food was sub par. The tacos were okay. We had more of an issue with the guacamole. We saw them literally pull out a plastic container, open the lid, and serve from that. Guac should be home made in a restaurant, not from a plastic container

Yenssy L.

Yelp
Quick service and the food is delicious. The flavors are on point. Tacos and the churros are great. Best when ate right away :)

Ronan C.

Yelp
By far this place has been one of the best street tacos I've had awesome presentation great service very friendly.

Priya B.

Yelp
BEWARE! If I could give zero stars I would. While it was bad enough that we drove up and found cockroaches in the area, this business is deceptive with their prices, posting one set of prices online, and charging $2-3 more on their whole menu in person. In light of covid, online menus have been more prevalent so keeping your prices consistent online and in person is crucial! That was the first frustration. We ordered and paid for a quesadilla as part of our order which we realized was not included once we got home. I wanted to make sure that we were charged the right amount for what we had but we weren't so I called about the mistake and the discrepancy with their online menu (completely calm, just wanting our food that we paid for) and the manager was shockingly rude and denied that they had different prices online and claimed that I got the menu from somewhere else not them.. uhh it was their website..? Out of frustration she finally said okay we'll make you a free quesadilla (which I become relieved by because this is the minimum level of service a business should have!!) and as we head back to pick up the rest of our order she then informs us that "talked to her boss" (even though the employee said that she was the boss so I'm pretty sure she lied..) and she went back on her word!! She told us her "boss" said it's our fault for not looking at a different menu and that they would be losing money by giving us the food THAT WE ORDERED. I cannot believe that anyone would run their business like this and I'm an understanding person that tries to find something redeeming about everything. I lost my appetite because of this ridiculous service. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Cesar S.

Yelp
Expensive but I enjoyed the food. Not worth the price though, not even close. The toppings and meat are fresh BUT the tortilla is clearly low quality and unfortunately ruins what would be an amazing place
