Here Are the Hottest New Restaurants in San Francisco, October 2024

"Tacos El Tucán built a name for itself serving Tijuana-style tacos in Richmond, but now the restaurant has leaped across the bay to San Francisco, opening a new restaurant in the Castro. The new location will have a similar menu to the original location, folding in items such as the restaurant’s popular quesatacos and red tacos, but the plan is to add on fish and carnitas tacos, as well." - Dianne de Guzman, Lauren Saria

"Richmond taco spot Tacos El Tucan has opened an outpost in the Castro. The casual space is counter-service and includes a spacious front parklet patio, where you can enjoy adobada tacos, quesabirria, burritos, and even keto tacos made on a cheese shell." - ricky rodriguez

This is the closest thing to actual TJ tacos I’ve found in the area. Ordered the keto and regular asada tacos, the meat was perfectly seasoned and wasn’t burnt to a crisp like other spots. The agua fresca de piña was the star of the show, absolutely amazing and fresh, not too sweet. The price is steep, I payed a total of $20 for three tacos and an agua (not including tip), but that’s totally reasonable for the area. I can’t imagine how bad rent must be right on Market St, and honestly $20 for a whole meal including drink is not high comparatively. And they do stuff the tacos with meat, so you’re getting your money’s worth! Their outdoor seating area is clean and inviting, and great to bring a pup and enjoy the sunshine!

Google
Tacos El Tucan is a great spot for a casual hangout with friends or a quick bite. It’s conveniently located next to some lively bars, making it perfect for starting a night out. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating. It is great for people-watching and soaking in the atmosphere. The food isn’t anything fancy, but for the price, it’s a solid and satisfying meal. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Best tacos I have ever had. Loved the red taco in particular. Staff super friendly made great recommendations.

LOVE their food and service and atmosphere! Solid 5 stars for everything. Would highly recommend their tacos, especially the veggie ones. Their salsa is also super delicious

Google
I really wanted to like this place — I’d heard so much about El Tucan’s Tijuana-style tacos, but my experience just didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered a few of their most talked-about items — the quesabirria, an adobada taco, and a shrimp taco. Everything looked good, but the flavors were kind of flat. The meat didn’t have the depth or char I was expecting, and the tortillas were on the greasy side without much chew or structure. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing wowed me either. The salsa bar was a nice touch, but even that felt limited compared to other taquerias in the city. And while the staff was polite, the service was slow — waited about 20 minutes even though the place wasn’t packed. Prices also felt steep for what you get. I don’t mind paying for quality, but this just didn’t feel like a good value. I left feeling full but underwhelmed.

Google
There weren't any Tuesday Taco specials. I had the quesabirria tacos (3) combo with consome soup) $15, chips $3 and a steak mulita (sandwich) taco $6. Everything tasted great. The quesabirras were a bit wet. They pre-dipped them in the red sauce. I would have preferred them a bit crunchier. The steak mulita taco was made up of two little corn tortillas, steak and cheese, cilantro, onions and a splash of guacamole. Service was excellent. The restaurant was really busy at 6pm. A lot of to-go orders and seats almost running out.

I recently visited El Tucan: Tijuana Street Tacos in San Francisco, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. As a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine, I was thrilled to find this gem in the city. The tacos were absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. I tried the carne asada and al pastor tacos, and both were exceptional. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The tortillas were warm and fresh, adding to the authenticity of the meal. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, capturing the essence of Tijuana street food culture. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was enjoyable. The service was quick, and despite being busy, the staff maintained a cheerful and accommodating demeanor. One of the highlights was the variety of toppings and salsas available, allowing for a personalized and flavorful taco experience. The prices were reasonable, offering great value for such high-quality food. Overall, El Tucan: Tijuana Street Tacos exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this spot to anyone craving authentic, mouth-watering tacos in San Francisco. I will definitely be returning for more!

Google
I am so happy this place opened in 2024. This is my place for simple joys - flavorful tacos, tasty margaritas, fun music, and the people who work here are super nice! Every time I come here (every 1-2 weeks) everything is consistently good and I always leave in a happy mood:)

Yelp
New addition in the Castro. Since we have (had) 3-4 different taco shops around, I didn't exactly understand why we'd need another one. Well, now I do. Tacos in El Tucan are far better than in all other places in the Castro (and maybe in the city?) Service is good, it looks like a family-run place, or at least everyone knows everyone else well. Simple seating inside and outside, but that's what I'd expect from a taco place. I am here mainly for food, and shrimp tacos and adobada tacos are great! I've been here at least 5 times, and they've been consistently juicy, flavorful, tasty tortillas, with a nice sauce. Highly recommend you try them out.

Yelp
tldr - decent and convenient taco spot for a quick bite near the busy part of the castro - reasonable price and plenty of seating The tacos came out real quick and they did not skimp on the protein. My biggest critique is the tacos were lukewarm and didn't taste like it was just cooked! classic adobada/al pastor (4.5/5) - the meat was marinated well + a nice grilled crunch, topped with some juicy pineapple and creamy green crema on top. it was a great bite! carne quesotaco (3.5/5) - the meat itself was a bit dry but the cheesy corn tortilla was great - kind of wish the green crema from the al pastor was on the carne taco my fav part of this place was the salsa bar (4/5)- they had several salsas at different spice levels and had some pickled veggies, which went perfectly with the meaty tacos staff were pretty friendly and tables + bathroom were clean! the interior was pretty well decorated. they have ample outdoor seating for those rare warm sf days Food 4/5 Service 3.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Value 4/5

Yelp
Solid taco spot addition to the area The pork adobado was delicious, tender meat topped with onion, cilantro, and guacamole. The carne asada was solid as well, but I think I prefer the pork. The birria on the other hand was dry and unmemorable. The shrimp was pretty good as well, smothered with the chipotle sauce. I appreciated that their taco came with 1 thin tortilla, and yet it didn't fall apart.

Yelp
Updated review. Definitely get the Red Taco with Adobada - that's tier 1. Quesabirria is pretty good too and so is the asada

Yelp
Not a bad taco spot, in the busy part of Castro! I got a set of 3 different tacos (~$12), and also chips with guac. I really enjoyed how they have a self serve bar with limes, pickled veggies, and different levels of salsa.

Yelp
We heard about this place opening up and that it was a big deal in the taco scene. I believe they had a food truck or pop up in the east bay and this is their first store front. We finally got around going and my goodness do we wish we went sooner. Like weeks sooner. Months maybe. My wife ended up going back the next day! And she wanted to go back a third day. (My wife is white and very particular about tacos and salsas so her loving this place says a lot. And no it's not Americanized, it's just really really good.) Alright on to the food, the menu is vast and can feel overwhelming if you're looking at the paper menu but luckily there's a big menu with pictures that takes up most of a wall. That is incredibly helpful. I'm Mexican and there are some foods I hadn't come across since the food is Tijuana specific and my family is from CDMX. So of course the main draw here or what they're known for is the quesobirria. There's a combo option for 3 quesobirria tacos with consomé for $14. It's a solid deal. You get a lot of food. But I will say it was too much food for me and I eat a ton! It's just a lot of cheese and tortilla in the end. Delicious cheese and tortilla. So I will recommend to keep that in mind. Maybe split it with someone? So my wife wasn't too sure about getting the quesobirria since it looks indulgent so she got the regular adobado tacos which is al pastor in TJ and THEY ARE SO GOOD. Those stole the show. The tortillas are handmade and the adobado has a bbq taste that matched perfectly with the juicy pineapple. We've been back several times and that's all we get now. The mulitas are awesome too but again a little too much tortilla for me. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They're happy to answer any questions. FYI there's outdoor seating. Perfect for a nice day!

Yelp
Craving Birria tacos in the Castro, found this spot and it will now be my go to spot for future Birria cravings. Order at the counter, grab a table on the cute front patio and wait for the magic to arrive. Flavor and meat was super good. Shrimp tacos were also very tasty. Prices were also fairly reasonable. Sat down outside at 5:30pm on a Thursday and by the time we left the place was packed. Also bonus points for cute bathroom and authentic Mexican hipster vibes throughout. Definitely add this spot to your taco rotation

Yelp
Didn't even have a chance to take a picture! Everything here is phenomenal. No joke, the burrito, the tacos, quesadillas, and horchata. I can't wait to try more items on the menu. I ordered through Uber eats and it still arrived fresh and tasty!

Yelp
I had been craving a good REAL taco for a while and this definitely satisfied my cravings. Handmade tortillas are always a big plus. Salsa bar was nicely stocked and everything was delicious. -Shrimp taco (5/5) The STAR of the show. SO SO GOOD! I can't wait to go back just for this. Perfect amount of shrimp, pico, coleslaw mix and chipotle sauce. (5/5) -Asada taco and Mulita (4/5) Really good too. Would order again -Al pastor taco and Mulita (4/5) I wasn't a fan of the cilantro dressing, tasted a bit like mustard so it was throwing me off. I think it would be so much better with guac or just without it so will order that way next time. -Agua de piña (4/5) super refreshing and good. Wish the serving was bigger :( We came in Sunday 4pm ish. Place was packed but we got seats outside with our doggie. Food took 10/15 minutes so not bad at all. They brought it out to us. Really good prices too. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Heard about Tacos El Tucan from friends who have been to their Richmond location and are huge fans. Located on the prime corner of Market and 16th Street, the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor sidewalk seating. When you enter, they have the menu with names, photos and price so big it covers an entire wall. You order at the counter and they'll call your name when your order is ready and bring the food to you. There's a salsa bar to the right of the counter (with 3 salsas and pickled vegetables), and water station. I recommend grabbing an aguas frescas. I had the Quesabirria Combo that came with 3 tacos, consommé and we had shared some nachos. I don't usually order birria tacos so I don't have much to compare them to, but what I can say was the shell was so crispy, and the flavors were delicious even without the consommé. The staff were nice and it wasn't too busy when we went. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Oh, you don't have to tell me about El Tucan. I've been to the one in Richmond a few times (review: https://yelp.to/6WBHs2lmIc). I wasn't exactly a fan until I got the inevitable munchies from having one too many at The Factory Bar a few feet away. That's when I discovered the Mulita, a Mexican-style grilled cheese sandwich made with tortillas. Yum. Well, I was gobsmacked to see this new one. In the Castro and right next to the Lookout. How convenient because coincidentally I had one too many boozy slushies at the Lookout. Like clockwork, I was in the mood for a Mulita, and sure enough, they had them on the menu. I ordered two. Don't you judge me. I needed a lot to absorb those slushies. I got the $7.95 Shrimp (Camaron) Mulita, and it was delish with plenty of prawns stuffed between two grilled tortillas Melted cheese, onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole completed the picture (photo: https://yelp.to/alZ-eKcfYC). Not one to repeat myself since the mulita will do that for me (if you know what I mean), I also ordered the $5.95 Grilled Chicken (Pollo Asada) Mulita which also hit the spot (photo: https://yelp.to/6OJkaHO5pS). Because I'm a sloppy taco eater, there's something satisfying about holding it like a sandwich. What can I say? I'm a man of simple tastes. FOOD - 4 stars...satisfying "sandwiches" that hit the spot after a little tippling AMBIANCE - 4 stars...still the same inviting space it was as Squat & Gobble SERVICE - 4.5 stars...very friendly and pretty fast TOTAL - 4 stars...gimme a mulita when I need one RELATED - Exploring the Castro? Yelp
My partner and I had been meaning to try this place after hearing about it from a friend, and were so glad we finally did! I was a little overwhelmed by the menu at first, since they have many different options to choose from (and I never know how many tacos I should order). I ended up getting a Veggie Taco, a Shrimp Taco, and a side of chips and guacamole. This was the perfect amount for me, and everything was so yummy! I also liked the casual ambience of the restaurant. They had a lot of outdoor seating and the staff was nice and helpful. The vibes were great overall. We loved Tacos El Tucan and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Good tacos, good service. Very inventive combos -- I did not try it but the menu features "birria ramen" and since this is the 1st time I've ever seen this fusion -- I will refer to this as the testament of the creativity of TeT

Yelp
Our party of five stopped by here before seeing a show at nearby Victoria Theatre, and all of us loved every bite! We ordered a variety of tacos, a burrito, the Tucan Nachos, and horchatas. The red tacos (tortillas are dipped in consomme and grilled) are my new favorite tacos, even better than the awesome tacos I devoured in San Diego and Santa Barbara. The Birria was so succulent and steeped in flavor, and the shrimp taco was perfectly prepared (not overcooked) with a tasty crema. (My photo of tacos has no cilantro nor pico de gallo only because I don't prefer it, but normally comes with a nice handful). Portions were generous, and served up in short order nice and hot. Food was brought to our table outside by a friendly and efficient wait staff, who checked on us a couple times throughout dinner. The dining areas were kept clean as people cycled in and out. Parking wasn't too bad in this part of the Castro, and we had a nice experience soaking in the vibe of the neighborhood. The only small improvement would be to add heat lamps to the far side of the parklet, if allowed, to combat that evening San Francisco chill factor. Will return!! Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4.7/5

Yelp
Been wanting to check out this spot since we loved Bonita and man did we get an upgrade! Service was great. Same lovely ambiance but now better food. I went with a few friends and we all loved what we ordered: shrimp tacos, chorizo taco, marinated pork tacos, and marinated pork quesadilla. Everything was great! We definitely will be back again

Yelp
The food here really exceeded my expectations! Not only is it delicious, but it's also incredibly affordable. I tried the keto tacos and chose the Al pastor for the meat option. The flavors were outstanding--savory, slightly smoky, with just the right amount of spice and sweetness from the marinated pork. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the tacos didn't feel heavy, which is a huge plus for keto options. It's rare to find a place that caters to specific dietary needs without sacrificing taste, but they absolutely nailed it here. I'll definitely be returning soon to try more of their menu.

Yelp
Taco Tuesdays. Let's taco about it! The newest taco eatery to open in the city is Tacos El Tucán (original is in Richmond). They opened on Cinco de Mayo, taking over Bonita Taqueria Y Rotisserie. Currently, offering takeout and dine-in (indoor + outdoor seating). You can order ahead on Toast. M E N U Tijuana style tacos are made with handmade tortillas, flame/mesquite-grilled meats, and dressed w/ onions, cilantro, salsa, and guacamole (El Tucán uses a cilantro or chipotle sauce on some). -Four taco styles: Regular, quesa (w/ cheese), red (dipped in consommé and griddled), and keto (cheese shell). -Proteins: Asada, al pastor, pollo, birria, chorizo, camarón, and veggie (zucchini, mushroom, corn). No offal. -Other: burritos, quesadillas, birria ramen + pizza, mulitas, bowls, nachos, and loaded fries. -Drinks: Horchata, agua frescas, and bottled drinks. There's a salsa bar. Chips are $3. F O O D I choose one of each style: https://tinyurl.com/yf5sn2pu * Taco Al Pastor/Adobaba: Handmade tortilla w/ marinated pork, onion, cilantro, cilantro sauce ($3.50) // 3.5 stars Savory al pastor tho dry (didn't see a trompo). No pineapple for that delicious savory-sweet contrast. The handmade corn tortilla was soft, chewy, and pliable. The creamy cilantro sauce provided good moisture. * Quesataco Asada: Handmade tortilla w/ steak, crispy cheese, onion, cilantro, guacamole ($4.50) // 4 stars Soft chewy tortilla with crispy griddled cheese, smoky asada (on the dry side tho), and creamy guac. With a squeeze of lime, it was the best of the four. * Red Taco Camarón: Crispy corn tortilla w/ shrimp, cheese, pico de gallo, coleslaw, chipotle sauce ($5.50) // 4 stars El Tucán is known for their red tacos and I can see why. The firm shrimp and creamy chipotle sauce were elevated by the flavorful, slight crispy shell and melty cheese. Could have used less sauce and more coleslaw for freshness and texture tho. * Keto Birria: Cheese shell w/ shredded beef, onions, cilantro ($4.15) // 3.5 stars Crispy cheese shell with caramelized edges filled with slow cooked, savory shredded beef. Really salty tho so I could only eat half. * Salsa bar: -Verde: Mild and tangy. -Roasted Tomato: Fresh with a kick of heat. -Salsa Roja: The chile de árbol based salsa packed heat! There's also curtido (cucumbers, radish, red onions, habanero) and grilled serrano peppers (in foil). S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. With no line, the food took 10 minutes. A M B I A N C E Festive with a Toucan logo on the storefront and custom paper liners. There's about 7-8 tables indoors and a dozen tables outdoors in the front and parklet (dog-friendly). P A R K I N G Challenging street parking. Overall, tasty Tijuana style tacos that don't skimp on the proteins. Solid option if you don't want to trek to The Mission for your taco fix.

Yelp
Solid taco spot at the edge of the Castro, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Their burritos are pretty good too, but the tacos are the star of the show. The shrimp taco and carne asada taco were my favorite, quesobirria tacos a close second. This place can get busy, so expect to wait 20-30 minutes to get your food if all the tables are looking full. Knocking off a star for inconsistency though - one visit I had some of the best tacos I've had in SF, the following visit was borderline bad! Hopefully this was just a one-off though, check 'em out!
google avatar

Cindy K.

Yelp
Came in late last night and enjoyed the food. Staff were really accommodating and the place was well-kept. The loaded fries are battered and seasoned which paired well with the yummy toppings. Thought the burrito was solid but the supreme bowl was the better of the two because it had more flavor from the sauces. Good portions and fair prices. I'd want to come back again and try their tacos!

Yelp
GET THE TACOS my bf had a burrito and wasn't super happy with it. After his burrito he said "those tacos are what my soul needed" (he'll order them next time). The keto taco with camaron was my FAVE . Quick service and just a fun vibe!!! This place is a must visit. Sorry, no pics :/

Yelp
The food tasted amazingly flavorful at Tacos El Tucan, I was quite surprised. The restaurant staff was quite welcoming and friendly from start to finish! The inside of the establishment is quite clean and beautifully decorated, keep up the good work! Thank you for the great food and wonderful service! I will be back for more meals in the near future!

Yelp
The food was delicious. Have great taste. My mom especially loved her tacos because the tortillas were made by hand. So fresh. My husband said the torta was very good because meat was shredded and you can't find that at other taquerias. Horchata very good as well. The cashier was very attentive and helpful when we were looking at the menu. Inside is very nice and murals are very beautiful. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Great service and music. The food was delicious. I had their shrimp tacos and quesataco. I prefer the quesotaco personally. It was crispy and their carne asada was very flavorful. Would highly recommend and I would come again.

Yelp
Good place.. Really liked the red tacos. The shrimp was OK. Interesting neighborhood.. In the area, check um out..

Yelp
A solid four stars, but I can see this getting rounded up to five as they have only been open for 3 days. Carne Asada taco: 5 stars The carne asada was excellently grilled and marinated. A tad salty but not too bad Adobada Taco: 3.5 stars Great flavor and texture on the pork but was missing the pineapple. The cilantro crema they put on it tasted too mayonaisse-y for me. Needed more herbal cilantro flavor and some acid. Birria taco: 4 stars Perfect flavor on the birria but I felt overall that the taco ate a little dry. Would have preferred it to be a bit saucier. Overall, really excited this place is in the hood. I already like it a lot better than the place that was in this location prior.

Yelp
I have been looking for the perfect taco estilo de Tijuana in SF and I've found it. This is a family owned spot tucked under the Lookout in the Castro. Their prices are fair to the point where they should be charging us triple because of the flavor. Their adobada is on a spit--which not many places do a lot of the time. Their birria is really good. And their asada is fire of course. My favorite salsa is the smoked one I think it's mild but it's my fave. The curtado is forsure SPICY but it's super good and cuts through the meat. Portions are generous and I can just go on and on. Service is great and I truly will be here at least 1x a week.

Yelp
Fantastic - friendly service & delicious food! Tacos El Tucán is a welcome addition to the Castro. Fresh made tacos, quesadillas, burritos & more. Tons of flavor & spice. Perfect spot for a quick & affordable bite of food. They did a nice job remodeling the interior and adding murals. On a nice day it's perfect to sit outside & enjoy the sunshine in their parklet. Highly recommend stopping by and supporting this new locally-owned business!

Yelp
Food is really good but unfortunately the restaurant needs more help in the kitchen. The first time I ate here my order took 25 minutes. The second time it took 30 minutes. I keeping coming back because the location is convenient but right now it's been 35 minutes waiting for a burrito.

Yelp
My partner and I tried this place for the first time after he seen it on IG and let me say the food is very flavorful and delicious. I think the portion size is great and it did not take long for us to receive our food ( they were pretty busy during the time that we went). I say for what we paid for it's reasonable especially with the quantity of meat we received and the taste! Honestly give it a 10/10 and plan on coming back. They also have outdoor and indoor seating with traditional music in the background which is not so loud.
google avatar

Yelp
The quesabirria tacos at el Tucán are a culinary masterpiece! Each bite is a perfect balance of tender, flavorful birria meat, gooey melted cheese, and crispy tortilla, creating a symphony of textures and tastes. The accompanying consommé is rich and savory, elevating the experience to new heights. Simply put, these tacos are a must-try for any food enthusiast!" Friendly Customer service , this is a must try place

Yelp
I love when more birria restaurants open in the city. This is Tacos El Tucan's second restaurant - first one being in Richmond, and they offer Tijuana-style tacos. This place is a great addition to the Castro, where Squat & Gobble once stood - located underneath the LookOut. There is residential and street parking. When you enter, you are welcomed by a mural of Frida Kahlo and a dog(?), as well as the staff. There are tables for 2-4+ seating lined against the walls and a large menu featuring pictures of their food - but this isn't their whole menu, you can find more on the paper menu by the cashier. They also have some outdoor seating if you want to people watch or bring your pets. I ordered (1) Keto style taco w/ carne asada (didn't know they had birria as an option) and (3) quesabirria tacos - a combo deal. The food here is fairly priced and the tacos I ordered starts at $4.50+ each. The quesabirria tacos don't come with consome unless you do the (3) quesabirria tacos combo - no substitutions. You can always order console on the side for an additional $4. The tacos that I ordered were delicious. The keto taco was a bit salty, but expected and still good. The consome wasn't overly oily and had a good consistency. I hope to order the keto taco w/ birria meat next time and looking forward to trying new things on the menu.

Yelp
DaYUM! This place is GOOD! We got the birria burrito, chorizo quesadilla, quesa-tacos, quesabirria taco, and chips and guacamole. We often can gauge a Mexican restaurant to some degree by their chips and salsa, and boy howdee! Their chips and salsa were kick ass! Seriously, terrific chips and salsa! Extra points for their help-yourself-salsa bar! And likewise the food that followed, all terrific! This place now ranks up there as one of our favorite taquerias in the City! Muy bueno!!!

Yelp
I WANT to like it so I'm giving it a higher rating than our experience deserves. Hoping that it if I come back, alter my order, and maybe come at a less busy time it'll be better. I will say that chipotle mayo in a shrimp quesadillas was gross and off putting. The online menu didn't mention it so I didn't expect it, I would have asked first it without had I known. They were out of birria and horchata. It also took 45 min to get our order which is loooong for a taqueria. No chips offered either. :(

Yelp
Wow. I've only been here once and I ordered the Tacos Rojas, Quesabirria tacos, and a Melon Agua Fresca . Good: Tacos Rojas was insanely good, super seasoned and flavorful and spicy and salty and cheesy and everything else you want out of a taco. That cilantro crema sauce took it to another level too. Salsas are on point! Agua Fresca was very well made, super fresh and not too sweet. Not bad but not as good: Quessabirria was good too but it didn't come with the birria consume on the side. Maybe it was a mistake or it only comes with the larger order. Who knows. Chips n salsa cost extra. Conclusion: The tacos Rojas was soo good, that it outweighed any bad, hence the 5 stars.

Yelp
PLEASE LABEL THE CONTAINERS! I suggest that when preparing to-go orders, to please label each container. It's hard to figure out what is what when trying to separate the items for each person in an order with multiple items. The quesabirria combo and red tacos are very good. The burritos, nachos, and fries are OK. A few times they didn't follow the special instructions we had in the online orders.

Yelp
Whoa! So Good! Recipes here ROCK! Best fast Mexican in the dis'Astro!! Service was quick and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. I crave the ginormous shrimp burrito on a weekly basis. I'm so happy that El Tucan came to the Castro! I know I'm going to eat well every time I visit. Great location!

Yelp
Delicious food and big birria tacos! Will definitely go back to try the torta and other tasty dishes. Friendly service too. Menu is a little hard to read though.

Yelp
The birria red taco and al pastor burrito were our favs but everything was on point! Burrito came with chips and was stuffed to perfection with enough crema, flavorful rice and toasted tortilla, which I always appreciate. Service was also fast and very friendly. Can't wait to try the torta next!

Yelp
Giving 5 stars because it was so good and that's what they deserve. Service was fast and friendly. And you can't beat these prices. I will definitely be going back. I had the shrimp taco and the chicken taco. I want to try the nachos next!

Yelp
Got tired of seeing (paid) food bloggers appraising this place on instagram so we decided to try it for ourselves. We had the adobada Al pastor street tacos ($3.50 per) and the red asada taco($4.95) Flavoring was very good, impressed with the price point and only downside was that the meats were cold and not grill top heated before serving. I'm assuming the place cooks all the meats and throws the cooked meat into their orders which is fine. Maybe hot food is just a pet peeve of mine
