Northern Mexico-style tacos with mesquite-grilled meats & fresh tortillas
"Although Dominic Prado temporarily closed his permanent location due to construction, he’s taking his much-raved-about and impeccably executed street-style tacos with Northern Mexico flair on the road. Follow Prado on Instagram to find his latest whereabouts and to check out the week’s specials. Tacos El Ultimo Baile is known for its grilled carne asada, adobada, beautifully seasoned pollo asado, smoked brisket barbacoa, and more. Doctor it up any way you’d like at the salsa bar, and be sure to get your tacos on freshly handmade tortillas." - Lena Park, Dianne de Guzman

"Super-popular taco-maker Tacos El Último Baile moved into a permanent space in Fruitvale last fall, but the San Francisco Chronicle reports the restaurant is temporarily closed because of “a disagreement with its landlord over construction and frustration over ongoing crime in the area.” The restaurant rents space from the Unity Council, a nonprofit development corporation, which has been doing construction that owner Dominic Prado says “obstructs the way into the restaurant and makes outdoor seating impossible.”" - Lauren Saria
"The al pastor is reason enough to ignore your responsibilities for the weekend and get to this Northern-style taco spot in Fruitvale. It's caramelized and drips with smoky juices that soak into the tortillas. But even if you’re not an al pastor enthusiast with a trompo sticker on your water bottle, the carne asada is also worthy of your attention. Also keep an eye on their , where specials like brisket tortas or fragrant pozole rojo are announced. The space is a simple set-up—order up front, then choose your own adventure at the well-stocked salsa bar. " - Julia Chen
"Dominic Prado, owner of hit East Bay taco destination Tacos El Ultimo Baile, served juicy, freshly grilled “Carne A’sada” tacos for three hours to scores of fans during the tailgate. It was far from his first time showing up to cook at the Coliseum; Prado estimates he does about 40 catering events at the stadium every season for both the Athletics and the visiting teams." - Lena Park
"The Bay Area has seen a number of pandemic-era pop-ups make the leap to permanent status this year, but Tacos El Último Baile holds a special place in the community. Chef-owner Dominic Prado leads the long-running pop-up that fed patrons of Oakland’s Legionnaire Saloon late into the night since 2017 before later graduating into a trailer. Prado gained a loyal following serving Northern Mexico-style tacos grilled over mesquite charcoal, but with a new space in Fruitvale, diners are finally getting a taste of what he can do with a full kitchen setup. The tacos, filled with small mountains of carne asada, al pastor, pollo, or chorizo, are on the menu, of course, as well as cheesy vampiros tacos and lorenzas. Now, the menu also features specials like warming pozole, tender brisket, ribeye, and battered and fried crispy fish tacos. Meanwhile, Prado is in his element in the new digs, greeting patrons and getting friendly with neighboring businesses at the marketplace — making himself an unofficial mayor of this corner of Fruitvale. It’s clear Tacos El Último Baile is only going to get better from here." - Eater Staff
