I had another incredible dining experience—food was exquisite as always, but what truly stood out was the service.Luis went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. His customer-centric approach made the evening even more enjoyable. Attentive, friendly, and professional, Luis is a true asset to the team. Highly recommend this place for both the cuisine and the top-tier service!

My wife ordered a gluten free dish and they assured us they would take precautions and that definitely did not happen. All the food was not good at all. The waiter was rude and the management was as well. Did not offer to do anything and was not empathetic whatsoever. I would highly recommend going anywhere else but this place! Terrible service and definitely won’t be back!

Google
Food was pretty good, The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was awesome and attentive. I will be going back again.

The waiter rolled his eyes when I asked the price of a drink. The rice was not fully cooked, some crunchy grains and tasteless. The chili rellenos were chilis wrapped in an omelet-appearing exterior that the waiter said was grilled. Service was slow even they were not busy at all. Overall not a good experience and we will never eat there again.

Extremely Disappointed with Service and Management Our group of 22 people visited this restaurant for lunch after attending a nearby event. While we understood that a large party might be a challenge, the level of service we received was unacceptable from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were met with an unwelcoming attitude from our server. One guest politely asked for Sweet’N Low for their unsweet tea, and the server dismissively said, “It’s on the table.” After checking the caddy and realizing there were none, we tried to show him, but instead of offering to bring some, he simply walked away. Another member of our group ended up getting packets from a different table. From that point forward, things only got worse. The server seemed completely overwhelmed, and it quickly became clear he was unprepared to handle a group of our size. When asked about splitting checks before taking out orders, he seemed confused and chose to take orders down the line which resulted in long delays, misplaced orders, and general chaos. Many people didn’t get their food until nearly the end of the meal, and some plates were delivered to the wrong people. We even received food meant for a different table. The disorganization continued with drink orders, drinks were mixed up, not refilled, or forgotten altogether. The staff began loudly calling out food orders to the table, creating more confusion, especially with children present. At the end of the meal, the server struggled to accurately split the checks, apparently due to poor note taking and lack of preparation. Guests had to approach the counter and manually explain their orders so tickets could be corrected. The most disappointing part was the response from management. A manager came over and told the group that “next time” we should know they don’t usually split large checks, a comment that felt condescending and unprofessional, especially considering we had no warning ahead of time. Instead of taking accountability for the lack of staff training and preparedness, the blame was subtly shifted onto the customers. This was not a case of an understaffed busy day the restaurant was not even at full capacity when we arrived. There was one young, visibly inexperienced server attempting to handle the entire group, and it was clear he was overwhelmed from the start. Unfortunately, the food was average at best, and the service was frustrating, slow, and unorganized. We do not plan to return, and based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to others, especially not for group dining. Customer service and proper staffing should be a priority, not an afterthought. If I could rate 0 star I would.

Google
The best Tex Mex in Amario, hands down!! Always delicious, family friendly atmosphere and amazing service. Try the queso and margaritas🍹

Google
Do not recommend for any sort of dining experience, the food was mediocre at best and the service quality does not exist. Our group was even yelled at by the manager instead of taking responsibility for the mistakes that had happened with their server Felix . Our food was wrong/extremely late, waiter was so rude and dismissive, and the manager was as unprepared as the server to handle restaurant service. A very unfortunate experience, we won’t return and don’t recommend others too either

Yelp
Tacos Garcia was suggested to me by a local coworker. Our hotel was fairly close by so, why not? We arrived around 7:30 and were promptly seated. We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat. Until I saw green chili stew and asado. I moved away from Midland in 2015. You don't really find asado away from West Texas. The music wasn't too loud and the lighting wasn't too bright or too dim. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. I'll likely stop back in the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
We dined on Sunday, March 9 at around 1 to 2 PM. We had to wait 10 minutes for a tiny little table when they weren't busy. We ordered queso and they brought us a little cup because they were out and said they weren't going to charge us for it. We ordered our food and it took forever to get to our table and both of our dishes were cold. We advised the manager that it was taking a long time and she said fish tacos do take a while, but they were also cold. When I told her my food was cold, she took my plate and said I guess you want me to take this from you, asked my friend how her food was. My friend said OK but my tacos are cold and she said she'll comp her meal and then I was brought a ticket for just drinks. No offer to fix anything or get us hot food. The waitress even said they put the avocado on the wrong plate but didn't offer to fix it. I will not go back

Yelp
Best food in town, but sadly, their staffing is poor. They could learn a thing or two from The Plaza, Chuys, and Braceros! We had a reservation for 8 for 11:30 on Sunday morning. We arrive at 11:30, well ahead of the church rush, and still they said the kitchen was back up and under staffed. There were maybe three tables seated in the whole place. Sadly, this happens quite frequently. If their service levels and staffing match their food quality, Tacos Garcia would be an unstoppable place to dine. Step up the game, Tacos!

Yelp
Consistency over 30 years! Yum. Queso and beef fajita burrito- served separate. Yummy!

Yelp
Really good local tex-mex restaurant. The chips and salsa, queso, and guacamole were outstanding. I ordered 2 chili rellenos one cheese and one chili. They were different than what I have had before- they were pan fried. The cheese one was fantastic and I loved it. We were talking lots so by the time I got to the chicken it was cold- so not good. (But that's on me.) My wife loved her enchiladas. The beans and rice were great and the sopapillas were fresh and tasty. Our server seemed irritated with us the whole evening for some reason. He still got a big tip in case he was having a bad day.

Yelp
Was stopping by on our way to New Mexico and figured it would be good- in Amarillo and decent reviews. NOPE Possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had- ranked up in the worst and I've had bad before. My refried beans were not edible they tasted rancid- something was seriously wrong with them. Mentioned this to the waitress who said sorry but no offer to replace or discount or anything. My meal was supposed to come with tortillas which were never given. And the relleno I had had salsa on the side- weird but ok- but it was folded into this eggy omelette and the Chile itself seemed old or off as well. Sauce was meh. Chips and salsa wAs very meh- some chips waaaay to salty and salsa just mediocre but edible . My companions chicken enchiladas were ok but very unremarkable and lacking much flavor or seasoning I would recommend never to go here if you like Mexican food. Yea

Yelp
*We did carry out so I won't speak to the actual service or restaurant, but the food...* We stopped here on our way from D.C. to Phoenix & to this day still talk about this restaurant whenever we're rehashing that trip. Both my partner & I love a good hole in the wall restaurant, especially a good local Mexican spot but sadly Tacos Garcia did every hole in the wall Mexican restaurant a disservice with the food they serve. Sticking with the basics we got chips, salsa, shredded chicken tacos, beef tacos, supreme burrito, rice, & beans. Historically, you would think that chips & salsa are a staple & hard to get wrong, but not here. Prepare to experience the most uninteresting salsa & driest tortilla chips known to man. Want to one up the tortilla chips? Opt for the shredded chicken tacos where you can expect to experience absolutely no flavor or joy. Or, if you want a little curve ball order the beef tacos that are drenched in so much liquid they might as well have been in a soup. If you thought you could at least count on the rice & beans... WRONG - that comfort dish that you love is absolutely nowhere to be found. The one potential saving grace is maybe the burrito, but considering your expectations are already so low, it's probably not actually that good. Overall, come to Tacos Garcia for a margarita or maybe a take out meal after a night of drinking where you aren't fully present.

Yelp
Tacos Garcia is my go to choice for ordering myself some menudo. The menudo is served 7 days a week at Tacos Garcia where most Mexican restaurants only serve it on weekends. I have never been disappointed with the flavor of the variety of other foods I have tried there but the menudo has remained consistently delicious! Highly recommend Tacos Garcia!

Yelp
I grew up in Amarillo and had so many memories coming to Tacos, but OMG have times changed. We came for breakfast I ordered what I always ordered: menudo with a bean and cheese burrito. Took one bite of my burrito, and immediately spit it out. The beans were old and tasted like they were aged. My menudo was soggy like it was sitting there and reheated. My daughter's burger was greasy. They put an adult patty of a kids bun which made it a mess. I'm really sad to see that this place is not what it use to be. Maybe come for drinks, but that's about it.

Yelp
Stopped through Amarillo on a road trip. So glad we found this place. Delicious salsa and some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. I'm 99% sure the corn tortillas were made in house. For a busy Friday night, they were quick to get us seated and our food out. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Awesome food , service was fantastic, great atmosphere, affordable prices, very pleased.

Yelp
Best menudo I've ever had! Waiter wasn't the friendliest, but hey...the menudo, chips, and a variety of three salsas made up for it.

Kurt L.

Yelp
Not the same as it used to be. Bathrooms falling apart which to me is always a sign of how a restaurant is being run.

Yelp
This place was just okay. Upon arrival there was no host but some guy came up and asked if I wanted to be seated and how many, I told him just me and he walked away. A few seconds later a girl ( whom looked like she was in the middle of eating, because she was chewing food) came and sat me. The automatic brought chips which were thin like I like them and 3 salsa choices.I ordered Queso Fundilio which they set on fire, that was cool but it honestly lacked flavor. I also ordered the house margarita which was okay, but not strong at all. I ended up having 3 large margaritas and really didn't feel a thing. I also had the Taquito de Barbacoa which was okay. Overall, it was decent. I feel like the food lacked seasoning and was average. Nothing super spectacular. My server was fantastic and on top of everything.

Liza L.

Yelp
Family vibes. So friendly and welcoming. Had the taco salad which hit the spot. Generous portions of chips and three types of salsa. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Great place. The tortilla soup is one of the best I have had. The chips and salsas were tasty. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Was staying at a nearby hotel as a stop on my way to Denver and stopped in this unassuming Mexican eatery as I was too tired to go discover other places in Amarillo. Actually, I got really lucky. The place is nicely decorated, very clean and respectful of the COVID 19 guidelines and their menudo was so good I considered getting a second one

Jasmine L.

Yelp
The service was good, the server was sweet and polite. The food though was not edible, queso tasted like it was microwaved before being served and the chips had a weird after taste. The only pleasant thing about the restaurant was the pretty surroundings and cute decor. Wouldn't recommend if looking for a good tex-mex place to eat at in amarillo. Overall experience-overpriced and unpalatable.

Ann B.

Yelp
Had lunch here today and it was probably one of the worst meals I have ever had. The food use to be good but the restaurant's service, cleanliness and food has definitely gone downhill.
google avatar

Pooja K.

Yelp
Ate here while on a road trip after a long tiring drive. Good food and large portion sizes. The servers were very friendly.
google avatar

Donn D.

Yelp
The reviews on this place misled me. Sure, everything came out hot and looking pretty, but the food was just plain bland. I swear I would have thought I had Covid if I didn't know better. The queso was just melted cheese, with no real substantial flavor to it even though there were green and red peppers in it. The ground beef chimichanga was covered with the same queso I had ordered separately for the chips and it too was just boring. I found myself wishing for some McCormicks taco seasoning just to kick it up a little. The food wasn't nasty or anything. It just wasn't anything more than something to exercise my jaws on.
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Great great customer service! Hands down would recommend! We both ordered tacos and thoroughly enjoyed! Margaritas were great too! You will not be disappointed stopping here to eat.

Yelp
I've been going to Amarillo for business on and off for years. This restaurant is a regular in my rotation. The food is very authentic, from the three types of salsa to the flaming queso to the countless entrees including Chile relleno. I always notice high health dept scores posted on the doors there which is a bonus.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was super tasty. We were there on a weeknight with some work colleagues. Food was very good. I will always get huevos rancheros if I can get it and this one came with chorizo. Service was good, waiter was attentive. Missed an opportunity to upsell us on another round. Two things resulted in a star off....they were pretty light on the chorizo (not more than two tablespoons, it seemed), and I got doused with some water during the meal. no biggie, just not a great experience. Salsa was also pretty good.

LaVerne M.

Yelp
Lots of good food in Amarillo, but Tacos Garcia has always been my favorite! Besides the great Mexican dishes, they make my favorite Margaritas!!

Kari E.

Yelp
Eating there results in some very good food. For take out they were kind enough to ask me if I wanted meat on my nachos, confirm I said no, then covered my entire order in ground beef under the cheese so that it couldn't be easily removed. I work nearby and considered this my new Friday take out, but never again after this. The front didn't acknowledge me either even after standing there waiting for several minutes. The service while eating in was really good, I'm not sure what the issue is for the to go service.

Yelp

Yelp
They were packed so we were lucky to find a couple seats at the bar. Great service & delicious food! So good we went back a second night. Still good, but they were out of Guacamole and low on barbacoa because my tacos weren't like the ones the night before.

Yelp
We stop here almost every time we are heading to Santa Fe. Always good. Love the Mitsy's special.

Yelp
I have dined here many times and never have submitted a review. A must visit when in Amarillo if you like your Mexican Restaurants. My favorites are the Lampriado(grilled chile rellenos), the quality of the chips and salsa, the queso, and the Monterrey. Buen provecho!

Jeff R.

Yelp
Fantastic meal, as Always!! Been eating here for 20+ years and the food is always consistently good. I am an enchilada person, but the asado de puerco is also very good!! The salsas amd queso are always amazing too. Highly recommend eating here.

Yelp
Garcia's is well-known in Amarillo. Food is pretty good, drinks are VERY good, the service is typically great. Nice, Mexican-themed buildings (they have a couple of locations) and is always quite clean. Teeny tiny bar (at Ross location) so don't go there thinking "happy hour" unless you plan to sit in the dining areas. The one knock we have on Garcia's food is their fajitas... instead of coming out on a sizzling cast-iron skillet, fresh and hot and ready for you to assemble yourself, THEY COME OUT PRE-PREPARED ALREADY? Fajitas are supposed to be LOUD and FRAGRANT and INTERACTIVE and should be an "event" when they arrive. They're an item most of us want to "build" ourselves to get just the right amount of individualized onions-to-peppers-to-meat ratio. You know what I'm talking about - when someone else builds your meal and you're looking at the quantities of meat, veggies, cheese, gauc, sour cream all over your plate and you're thinking, "Who builds a fajita this way?..." Well, Garcia's has found a way to lessen that personalized interaction patrons have with their fajitas, which just seems odd and quite frankly, cheap. Aside from this issue they're establishment deserves a visit.

Peggy P.

Yelp
Delicious grilled tacos! The enchilada sauce is really good. The salsas are delicious and the service was great.

Debany A.

Yelp
I recommended this place to some friends but was embarrassed after our experience. The service was good and our server was super sweet. The food however, was not great. The queso was $10 and we didn't even eat it because it tasted bland and flavorless. The beans and the bacon had a rancid-like taste. I will unfortunately not be returning to eat at this location. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Amarillo.
google avatar

Lynette M.

Yelp
Awesome margaritas and food! This is a must try when you are in Amarillo!! The grilled tacos and fajitas are some of the best we have had! Ask for Mariah! Excellent service!!

Cody B.

Yelp
the food was embarrassingly bad and the prices were outrageous for the quality. queso was store bought and microwaved along with what I assume was meat somehow being over cooked while cheese was underdone both over salted along with leaving me to pick off chips burnt to a crisp, the owner should be embarrassed to have that come out of their restaurant and the charge for the quality was ridiculous, I've had better food at a hotel breakfast. the only thing this restaurant did right was hire a sweet server, invest in a cooktop because reheated and microwaved garbage is all that kitchen was capable of. I cteated a yelp account because this place was so bad.
google avatar

Thomas L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Great waitstaff. Some of the food items on the menu are great. Some are average. I like the NM enchiladas. The carne guisada sucks. Not cooked long enough and I have tried it multiple times. Anything that requires slow cooking you should avoid. Tough like no tomorrow! Relenos are good. Enchiladas are great.

Devon B.

Yelp
Service was good food was pretty trash..the chips were really stale don't like the whole Tex mex thing water tasted like wet dog or something I have dogs so I can just imagine what that would taste like and the food was mediocre shrimp tastes like nasty tap water as well. I wouldn't come back not real Mexican food but whites might like it
google avatar

Brett C.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The place is popular. They have a live band. The problem is it's crowded and has a long wait. Service is friendly. Menu is made of cheap material. I can be a little loud at times but mostly it's crowded. The food is great they. I recommend the barbacoa plate.

Savage G.

Yelp
One of my most favorite Mexican restaurants love the food and the service I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
We've been here twice and have been so impressed each time. Current favorites include the chips, the house margaritas, the queso fundido, the combo fajitas, and the quacomole. Good service and again... great margs!

Yelp
There is no better Mexican restaurant anywhere than Tacos Garcia. Yep, I made that bold statement, and I will stand behind it. Get the TG's Plate with beef tacos (two or three). Try a bite of those delicious refried beans (I swear there is bacon grease in them!), and chomp into one of their crispy homemade shells stuffed with perfectly seasoned meat and all the fixins. Have a margarita (or two) or a Dos Equis amber, and end your meal with a sweet, cinnamon-crusted sopaipilla drizzled in honey. And then sit back and be shocked when you get your bill and see how reasonably priced everything is. Service is great. Ambiance loud but great. And the food? I think you know... If you're passing through Amarillo, definitely make a stop at Tacos Garcia. And if you live in Amarillo, why are you reading this review? Get yourself over to Tacos Garcia, and appreciate what a fantastic restaurant you have in your own backyard! We had to drive 850 miles for a return visit, and it was well worth it!

Yelp
The food was trash driving through from California looking for Mexican food found this place waste of money I would not recommend

Aaron A.

Yelp
Food is pretty good. It's Tex mex. Cheladas tho. Yummm. And only place I could find that had asada fries
google avatar

Elvira B.

Yelp
Ordered the shrimp entree, very few shrimp. Vegetables covered in a hydrogenated oil mess.
google avatar

Pearl B.

Yelp
This place has good food, great place for parties, family, business meetings. People are pleasant n very warm atmosphere. I only had to complaints 1. Menudo didn't have enough salt, bland. But once you put your chile, onion, cilantro lemon n salt was perfect. 2. Way to small portions, for the price. If they put more food for their prices it would be 8 star restaurant.
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
So far it's every Star of the 4.5 is has!!! Skinny Margarita handmade with my Organic Stevia is superb. ... Fresh chips and the three salsas are fresh and great! Roasted tomatoes were good in the salsa!!!! Chanklas....great appetizer!!! (Roasted veg wrapped in meat and bacon! pick your poison shrimp, chicken or fajita beef! Mojo de Ajo and calabacitas superb! Tortillas both corn and flour. The corn tortillas not so fresh. (From a mom that made them fresh everyday). Excellent retried beans! (Has lard- rendered lard not sure). Flour tortillas are good handmade by burrito stop !

Yelp
My boyfriend says: took me back to my childhood, dang this food is authentic Mexican. We are so grateful did this yummy family dinner.
