"This restaurant with three locations is perennially in the conversation for best al pastor in the metro area. When ordered in a burrito, fine shreds of marinated pork print their shapes on their tight-but-soft flour tortilla. The achiote spicing them goes nicely with a deeply smoky red salsa, one of two that comes on the side. Burros pack a whole lot of meat and a slicking of creamy beans. They come with an option to add onions and cilantro." - Chris Malloy

Edited review: good little spot, but don't order the chips and guac; it's just the green salsa! I feel a bit ripped off tbh. I was still hungry after my meal, so I ordered something else. The girl was sneaky about it too. Was trying to figure out why she made a weird face, when I asked her if they had chips and guac and didn't just say "yes" (she was "thinking and looked to she said and said "ummm") I approached her about it, and of course she continues to say it's different (tastes exactly the same and looks the same)I hate shady business practices, especially because I was planning on being a return customer. What? I approached a young man about it, he laughed and giggled. So much for that. Never again. Looks like bad customer service is kind of their thing.

The tacos are decent, the meat is a little dry at times. The tres leches cake is good but they don't make many of one flavor. The prices are good, 1.25 a taco on Tuesdays. The fruit in a cup is really great and the also have ice cream cones with your choice of ice cream.

Not the best, not even close to good though. By far the driest tacos in Phoenix. Pastor meat was dry and lacked seasoning. Asada meat was the same. The corn tortillas were dry as dirt and pulled directly from the package they came in. Lime and cucumbers.. you guessed it, dry. Was apprehensive when I saw all the !Notice! Signs posted. They were gracious with cilantro and onions, which was good because the meat portion’s were small. If onion and cilantro tacos on dry tortillas is your thing then this is your place. Otherwise, they’re a far better places in the area worth the $$. Finished my review and headed to another spot to curb my craving for good/decent tacos. This spot missed the mark gard.

Went in on taco Tuesday to try the $1.25 tacos. They were out of carnitas but we tried the other ones that they had. The chorizo one had some rubbery cartilage bits in it that made the texture weird. Then the pastor ones had way too much fat and silver skin in them to really enjoy. The meat quality overall was about a 1-2 in quality but the flavor was really good. The chips and salsa were way over salted in some areas where salt would clump to some chips. And the salsa we got was the wrong one I think because it wasn’t a chunky red salsa like he told us. It was more of a green enchilada sauce that wasn’t that great with chips. The cantaloupe drink however was incredible and I would recommend getting again (definitely the highlight of the meal) service and staff were friendly and atmosphere was nice. Last comment… the salsa bottles were very greasy and dirty which would be nice if they did a better job cleaning them before sending them out to customers.

My friend invited me to Tacos huicho the cashier took my order(quesabirria) then my friend’s, then she pay. Neither she or I noticed the cashier never put my order in. But when I came and tell them that we were missing the quesabirrias these lady was no mam you guys didn’t pay for it very rude and I said but we order that first. Then we went to check the receipt they were right but there was a line and it asked aren’t you gonna make it up and let me pay after? Since it was the cashier mistake, and that lady said “No you have to go in line again and reorder, pay and wait”. I ended up leaving instead that was bad customer service. Im not sure if is the manager but the guy is the lead in the kitchen. They both so rude when it comes to customer service.

The only thing missing was fountain drinks. Beautiful atmosphere, mouth-watering food, and staff fluent in both English and Spanish. Even a gumball machine! They also have an excellent Taco Tuesday deal.

Google
Ordered a platter on 50 tacos for 145.00 for the amount of tacos and size of beans and rice the side items didn’t match. They only give you 4 small salsas and a small amount of onions and cilantro for all 50 tacos and rice and beans and a small brown bag of chips. When we asked for more salsa we were told they would cost 10 more dollars for 4 more SMALL salsas. See photos for size reference.

Google
I'm giving 4 stars because of minor things: one of the carnitas tacos the meat was more fat than meat. The limes were dried out and hard to squeeze any liquid out of. And who the hell puts beans and parmesan cheese on top of their chips maybe traditional somewhere but seems like a gringo thing. The service was good and I only wish it had been Tuesday for $1 tacos sounds great. (Edit 2nd visit)This place is so close to 5 stars. Yet again the carnitas had big globs of fat and the burrito was a little plain. If the decorations, ambience and service were worse it'd be 3 stars)

Yelp
Always have a good experience here. These tacos are good, not the best but definitely one of the best options in North Phx, which are extremely sparse. The carne asada is always good, salsas provided in bottles so you don't have to keep getting up to get more salsa -- there's also a sink where you can wash your hands without going into a stinky bathroom.

David H.

Yelp
I tried to buy a taco from Maria at the front counter with a credit card. She told me that it was a $5 minimum for a credit card plus a $1 fee. I told her that was fine and to just charge the $5 as I only needed 1 taco. She refused to serve me. I would say this is bad customer service fur this area of the city. Avoid!

Maria M.

Yelp
Tacos are always delicious! Staff is super friendly. The place is always clean. They have taco Tuesday deals, my favorite has become the chorizo when it's super crispy.

Julie S.

Yelp
Best taco Tuesday deals around! I recommend the cabeza. The employees are all really nice.

Pamela R.

Yelp
The food is amazing i always love their street tacos but today i saw they finally added Birria on to the menu ! I can't wait to try theirs!

Tamishia N.

Yelp
I had someone recommend this place to me when I was in the neighborhood. I found the service to be very friendly and it was very clean. I however did not enjoy the tacos. The pastor was flavorless and they just seemed dry.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Used to love this place, especially on taco Tuesdays. Now, it feels like things just aren't as good. Taco Tuesdays: cheap tacos for $1.25 but the meat portions match that and aren't much. Are 7 tacos to not feel hungry anymore, not too stuffed. Seems like a low ratio of meat:tortilla. Food was tasty with a nice smoky/char flavor though a trade off for the chicken being on on the dry side. Corn tortillas also harder to chew through. Refried beans looked and tasted like they were heated straight out of the can. Red and green salsas, as well as the churro, were tasty. I get it, I'm there for the tacos. It's not a restaurant setting where they bring you the food and they get tipped. Today felt especially transactional with minimal attempts at eye contact- perhaps they had a long taco Tuesday. Inside is freezing, being a jacket or layer up.

Natalee G.

Yelp
Favorite lunch spot. The tacos are delicious and beans and rice are good too! Haven't tried many things but I have enjoyed every meal that I've had so far.

Yelp
As good as the food is it does not justify their shamelessness. I understand the current economic atmosphere but as soon as you walk in there are signs everywhere trying to limit their responsibility & nickel and dime you. Written in whiteboards as you walk in demand no outside drinks or food, another says they are not responsible for personal items left behind (I can understand this one) You're charged a fee at the terminal if your total is under $10, I can understand that but then you'll notice on Taco Tuesdays street tacos are $1.50, usually $2. But they are only this price if you buy a minimum of 4 tacos, practically defeating the purpose of the "deal" to add insult to injury on my last visit I ordered a carne quesadilla & taco. I forgot to ask for cilantro & onion in my quesadilla so well before my order was ready I asked if they could add it they said they would try. But then when I go to pick up my order I ask if they were able to they say no bc it wasn't asked for at time of checkout. I told them I asked right after for it & they gave me the same excuse. I asked for a side of it instead and they said it's $1.25 for a side of cilantro and onion!? So no charge if asked for at time of checkout but after it's a charge? If I was asking for it as extra to what I was already getting I could sort of justify it but no. This taken into account with everything else is quite honestly insane. Doesn't make a customer feel welcomed and that as soon as you walk in there are rigid rules you must be aware of otherwise you'll be charged extra. As a customer walking into a business asking them to tip toe around you is not a way to do business.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice in the past week. The first was got lunch on Sunday. My son and I split a 3 taco plate and added 2 more tacos. The next time I ate there was on Taco Tuesday. We split 8 tacos. Horchata both times. Taco Tuesday was the better experience since the tacos were $1.25 as opposed to $2.00 a piece. But asada was out as an option. The taco options are already pretty limited, so it's disappointing that asada is off the table. We have had asada, carnitas, pastor, and pollo. They are all very small, but that is expected with street tacos. The meat is also a bit overcooked and dry. Thankfully the red salsa is spicy and the plate includes a decent amount of cucumbers. The horchata is good, too. Aside from the dry meat, the place loses decor points for the way it locks up the napkins, forks, spoons and such. The same goes for the limited types of salsa they give you with the food. But at least they give it out in large dispensers. Combined with all the messaging on the credit card minimums and the 4-taco minimum on Taco Tuesday, and you end up feeling less than welcome to eat here. Not sure when I will be back.

Yelp
Really disappointing , this was going to be my first time trying this place out i'm from california but my family stays out here in Arizona, my toddler wanted some donuts and there happens to be a donut shop next to them so we got my baby his donuts and than my bf and I were going to order from them and take it to go since the rest of the family was waiting at home, well once we entered the lady in in the front shouted "sorry mam no out side food in the diner" and I looked at her and said there just donuts and she still said no sorry , I just didn't care to explain I was going to order to go because to me that was already rude. I get some resturants don't like outside food but in this case my baby had donuts like come on. but I guess they just didn't want our service . if I can give no starts I would !

Maria Fernanda P.

Yelp
Pésimo servicio!!!! Las personas que atienden y cocinan no tienen el mejor de los servicios pregunte si me podian poner hna quesadilla con el pollo aparte y me dijeron que me tenian que vender una libra

Beau B.

Yelp
Decided after my Sunday workout to try out this place. Simple, clean and friendly staff. Make sure to bring cash or order over $10.00 other wise you will be charge a fee when using your debit card The taco's tripa & cabeza (my cheat meal for the week) were perfect to still my craving. Mucho gracias!

Eddie L.

Yelp
This is my Rule when it comes to Restaurants "If the place is not packed, there's a reason why" Quality of meat is not there, the backyard flavor is not there.

Candice S.

Yelp
This was my first time. Taco Tuesday for lunch and I'm glad I got there at about 10:45AM because that's when the lunch rush starts! It's busy for a good reason. I watched them serve around 30 people within minutes- around half were takeout orders. Tacos I had were delicious- well seasoned pastor, pollo, y carne. They have a lot of other offerings, and I am excited to go back to try more!

Amber F.

Yelp
Amazing food. Just go for the tacos. You won't be disappointed. The service is maybe a little slow but it is a local joint, so honestly I would expect that. And the food is well worth any wait. Be gracious and say thank you when you leave. :)

Rafael F.

Yelp
Do not give these people your business. The food is mediocre. You can taste the old meat for the tacos. The service is awful this is only our second time giving them an opportunity and it was awful. Mary made us sit outside in 115 degree weather because my 7 year old son and 10 year old nephew had happy meals because they didn't like the food last time we ate the. Save your money go somewhere else. This is the last time they get my business.

Tayler B.

Yelp
Best authentic mexican food we've had in Phoenix. The meat was very tender with lots of flavor. The carne asada was not fatty at all and the chicken was also very good. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be going back.

Victoria H.

Yelp
Food was delicious & the flavor was perfect. The Jamaica drink had no flavor (Im Mexican & I know what it taste like) & they refuse to exchange it for something else. I order sopes & request the to make them crispy & they didn't even do that. Our cashier was rude & expected us to order quickly. Will I come back yes but I will not order fresh water. Hopefully our cashier & server are in a better mood.

Thomas G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Quick and the prices are great on the tacos and general food. I'll be repeat customer for sure

Nicole H.

Yelp
We had horrible customer service, my husband has been coming once a week for years and absolutely loves the tacos but he had a terrible experience and they weren't willing to fix it or even try which is unacceptable. We have decided to no longer visit this establishment.

Francisco C.

Yelp
Food alright tacos need to crispy. And the lady gave me a hot ass drink . Salsa is good doe .

Scotty P.

Yelp
This place is amazing with good service. Their tacos are really good and only like $2 on tuesday. I prefer this place if you're looking for somewhere fast and simply!!

Stacey M.

Yelp
We stopped in for the first time this past weekend and ordered posole, green chili tamales and the Horchata. I don't know if this was a fluke, but we pulled out a handful, and I mean a hand FULL of bones from the posole. Not only is this dangerous, but it's extremely unappetizing and the bowl's are not cheap! I have never had this happen at any restaurant to this date. The flavor of the posole is decent but I don't know if I can ever do it again. The green chili tamales are just OK. There is a large amount of masa in comparison to the meat. The horchata tastes good but that's easy to find elsewhere. I'm debating if I will go back to try the red tamale?

Maria B.

Yelp
Best menudo in town tacos are amazing too... you won't be disappointed.. everything taste delicious

Sarah M.

Yelp
It's just so good. I recommend you try the Huicho, or anything else they serve, too. Good service, a sink in the dining room for keeping our hands clean- that gets points with me. I'll write more after I go again.

Michael J.

Yelp
Went in on taco Tuesday to try the $1.25 tacos. They were out of carnitas but we tried the other ones that they had. The chorizo one had some rubbery cartilage bits in it that made the texture weird. Last comment... the salsa bottles were very greasy and dirty which would be nice if they did a better job cleaning them before sending them out to customers

Andrea W.

Yelp
The food is decent but they're passing costs off to their customers and I refuse to support. I was told today that for salsa on the side, I would have to pay extra. Respectfully, you don't know how much salsa I want, my spice sensitivity level etc. customer service is huge for me so safe to say I will never be back.

Sandy O.

Yelp
Oh my goodness!! So delicious!! I got me some tacos de tripa , cabeza and some Chile verde chilaquiles...yes , I'm hungry ! Anyway they are super yummy! This place is super clean too ! I love it and totally recommend it ! Provecho ! Oh oh and the music it's wonderful! To listen to Beatriz Adriana , Roberto Carlos and Vicente Fernandez it's epic !! Absolutely love it!!!

Antonio C.

Yelp
Best tacos and a verity of meats to choose from but also has different menu options and also has great customer service

Jessica G.

Yelp
Disappointed. I walked in and the kitchen was being cleaned as if they were closing but they were open. Nothing was being cooked. Everything was already premade and just sitting there who knows how long. I ordered one chicken taco while my husband ordered quesadilla de Al Pastor and also asada tacos. Everything was way too greasy. This is perfect if you're looking foe the best greasy tacos after a hangover. I wouldn't come back.

Alondra C.

Yelp
I watched this guy make my food without gloves I'm so upset. Waste of money. I wish I would've looked at the reviews before coming here.

Kindall K.

Yelp
The food is decent but the original location off oak is the best! Love the arroz con leche! But did stop in today probably will be my last due to my guy making my carne asada fries without gloves and then handed me my bag all greasy and stains on my napkins then went right back to the next order. I work in a restaurant just wash your hands and wear gloves boss it prevents a lot of stuff.

Mark H.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican street tacos in a cute, cozy little restaurant. Service was prompt and staff was happy to describe a dish I wasn't familiar with. It's an easy recommend if you like street tacos.

Stacy B.

Yelp
Amazingly authentic and delicious!! Street tacos on point! Not greasy at all Rice and beans also amazing Very fresh and would highly recommend

Paul H.

Yelp
Best make sure you confirm your order very clearly. They make a mistake and won't take care of it for you and want to charge you again. Good tacos but screw that, lost a weekly customer.

Steve T.

Yelp
Went to Tacos Huicho on taco Tuesday and had their pollo and carnitas tacos They were delicious Also had their carne asada and chorizo but something was missing ...not sure Next time I'll try the "Al Pastor" Nice people and good service

Ilytm26 ..

Yelp
Terrible food and customer service. Save your money and time go to the original one on Oak. This place forgets that they even have multiple locations that they need to live up to and that there's plenty of taco places. Terrible customer service from Mary. The meal was $50 and you tell me that that salsa is complementary only if you eat there? What's next pay for cilantro and onion if you are getting to go? All 3 salsas and yes I paid extra we're horrible nothing about the avocado salsa tasted like avocado or spicy just looked like poop. Hopefully people realize how good the original location is.

Orin W.

Yelp
It hits the spot good and honestly they might as well make a drink out of their spicy sauce! You'll only find me here on Tuesday's - religiously! Though it shouldn't really matter because I grab their carne asada tacos which is not part of their Taco Tuesday special. $1 tacos though? Can't. Go. Wrong! I love that they keep their sauces in individual containers stored properly in a fridge -- clean! Cashier lady was nice. I asked for extra cucumbers, but she only gave me 2 extra pieces. Not going to hold that against her though because I was there for the tacos! Service is really fast and their pastor is divine! Try try try!

Carter D.

Yelp
Great tacos. Best in the area. Good burritos too. Def recommend it, and we especially like the bbq pork.

Jim S.

Yelp
These guys do a great job. We loved the salsa! That is an indicator many times for what is to come. We went in for Taco Tuesday. They offer beef, chicken and pork for a $1.00 each. They are of Street Taco size but for a dollar each who cares. It is much safer than my drunken street wanding and taco meat cut on a tree stump in Rocky Point where the dude uses the same rag to wipe the knife as the trash can. When your hammered who cares? Give me tacos! Anyway this establishment is very clean and the name refers to the owners nickname. Inside looks rustic with flashes of art depicting Old Mexico. We fed three of us for about $20. Some of us fat people broke the typical 3 taco rule and threw that right out the window. There no alcohol here but the Dubliner is next store to drown your sorrows in. We have visited twice and will be back again.

Vanessa C.

Yelp
Such a great place!!!! I've been looking for a good taco spot and this place hits it!!!!! I'll definitely be back for more!

Yeni M.

Yelp
Can get over how good all their drinks are and specially their gorditas!!! Everything is made fresh and everything my self and my family have tried is amazing!!!

Amanda B.

Yelp
Great service, awesome taco Tuesday deal ($1.25 tacos) and delicious food. Straight to the point Mexican food.

Zach H.

Yelp
This place is delicious! I had a carne asada and an el pastor burrito. Both would be ordered again as they are filling and taste great. The salsas they give have a lot of flavor and a good kick. I will be back again. The location at 16th st and Oak is also great if you are in that area.

Greg F.

Yelp
My buddy got this for catering and everyone was pleased!! Highly recommend for a big party. The carne asada was seasoned perfectly and the grill mast was on point getting a good char on it. I don't normally go for chicken tacos but ventured out of my box today and really dug it. The true stars of this show were their salsas and grilled veggies. Try every single one of their salsas they are all unique with so much flavor and spice. The grilled veggies I want on everything especially those jalapeños with a little lime. My girl said the beans are some of the best you will get outside her moms kitchen.

Brooke P.

Yelp
The owner and employees were extremely rude. Very poor service. My office ordered food there for lunch. They got an order wrong. The employee and owner of the restaurant were no help and were extremely disrespectful.

Isaac T.

Yelp
My go to spot for tacos In my city. It's a very simple place with lots of options. There are 3 locations, my personal favorite is the 20th street and Oak location. I'm a big fan of the carne asada here, tastes just how they make it in Mexico. Don't sleep on the burritos either, best in the vicinity, hands down! If your looking to try something different besides tacos I would suggest the Sopes!

Mackenzie R.

Yelp
First time eating here and it was pretty good. Planned two nights to come and eat here and we got the chance, pretty danm good.

Layne D.

Yelp
I had read some great reviews for this spot so we decided today would be the day to try it out! It's a new place, super clean and nicely set up. The menu isn't huge, but has promising options. You order at the counter and then they call out your order number for pick up. They have a cooler of water and drinks out front to pick from, no soda machines. My girlfriend and I both got a 3 taco combo which comes with rice and beans. I went with pork and she went with chicken. They are street taco style so they ask if you want cilantro and onion on top. Avocado, sour cream or cheese can be added for extra. They also give you 3 different salsas when you pick up your order (when dining in at least). My pork was incredibly seasoned and very tasty. With the onion, cilantro and green salsa, I was in heaven from a flavor perspective. My girlfriend wasn't a big fan of the chicken however. I even tried a taste and it was more on the bland side. Not horrible just nothing special. You also don't get a very large portion of rice and beans. We also asked if they had water cups and the girl working the register told us we could buy bottles. Then we turned the corner and saw the water jug that was available. I don't hate buying a water bottle but just seemed kind of odd to not disclose that considering that's what we were asking for. Overall, for the price, we thought it seemed a little expensive for what you get in the end. I would recommend the pork tacos if you want to try it out. It's not bad but I'm just not sure I'll be back in the near future.
