"This no-frills operation is geared towards the morning rush. Overstuffed tacos arrive quickly on styrofoam plates with impressively hot salsas at the table. The chorizo and egg are griddled together to create a satisfying chew with a hint of saffron. The bacon and egg sounds simple, but the sum is greater than the parts. Pair the tacos with a cold horchata and it tastes like being in Mexico City." - Henry James Ferry

This place is legit. If you’re looking for some killer tacos in East Dallas, La Banqueta delivers. The outside doesn’t look like much, but once you walk in, the people are super friendly and the tacos speak for themselves. I went with six tacos: two suadero, two al pastor, and two cabeza (barbacoa). The suadero was probably my favorite. Super tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Easily a top choice. The al pastor was actually my least favorite of the bunch, but to be clear, it was still really good—juicy, seasoned well, and better than what you get at most spots. Just had tough competition from the others. The cabeza tacos were awesome. Juicy, rich, and super flavorful. Definitely worth getting. Everything came loaded with chopped onion and a ton of fresh cilantro, just the way it should be. Now let’s talk about the salsas. The green salsa verde might be the best I’ve had in Dallas. Creamy, tangy, and spicy in all the right ways. I’d give it a slow clap any day. The red salsa brings a smoky heat that’s bold but not overpowering. Both are excellent. Bottom line: this place is a winner. Great tacos, welcoming people, and unbeatable salsas. Put it on your list if you haven’t been.

Had to come back 2 times in 2 days they were that good. perfect place to grab some tacos and have a picnic at the park nearby.

I come here at least once every 2 weeks. I usually come at night so service is pretty quick. I’ve been coming here for 5 years already and I just can’t get enough. I definitely recommend tacos de suadero, pastor, and bistec. Please get the quesadillas…they melt the cheese to perfection. I did notice they don’t make the salsa as spicy but it’s still delicious nonetheless. Definitely recommend this place!!

Google
Been here plenty of times and they never disappoint! The meat is always tasty, cheese always melted to perfection, and salsas on point! The only thing is that it gets pretty warm in there but I don’t mind too much cause the food makes up for it or you can take it to go. The ladies are always nice & polite.

If you're in Dallas, specifically closer to downtown/Old East area, you must give this place a try. The food was delicious, service was great, and the food came out quickly!

Carter Engler

Google
Food was so fresh. Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had and the order is ready by the time you reach your table after ordering at the register. Price is also phenomenal.

Went after the stars playoff lose vs Edmonton last season. The best pick me up tacos in recent memory. I want to come back for sure and try different menu items. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the cuisine.

If you can’t speak Spanish, use Google translate Spanish is the first language spoken by all employees. The language barrier is very difficult, but the food is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing. I live a few blocks from this place and I frequent the area often if you want authentic Mexican this is the place limited menu, very blue-collar very respectful. Must try hidden gym.

Yelp
Casual taco restaurant with fast and excellent service! Clean tables and chairs. The tacos are amazing! Full of flavor and generous with the portions. Salsas are spicy and great as a topping. The tortas are also filling and worth it! Excellent prices overall; will be back soon! Parking is limited in fromt of the restaurant, but there's street spaces!

Yelp
Overall, this place was good. Very VERY cheap tacos but obviously they're smaller + the tortillas are a little mid. But the meat all have great, unique flavor coming from San Diego tacos. Quesadillas (Quesatacos) are the move: price of a regular taco (everywhere else), much bigger and the crispy tortilla + the cheese makes it delicious. Salsas were also great, they had a kick to them. Come for good tacos and cheap prices but don't expect to have your pants blown off.

Rome L.

Yelp
My favorite taco spot in Dallas. Service is typically prompt even when they are packed, I don't think I've ever waited more than 15minutes to receive my food. Flavor is always good, portions match, and the price is fair. It's your typical taqueria so they have a no frills dining area. Parking is very limited so if you come on a busy day you may experience the parking lot congestion and/or have to park off-site.

Jenna B.

Yelp
This is an authentic Mexican restaurant in the heart of Dallas. The tacos are fresh, simple delicious, and affordable. There is nothing fancy about this spot. Parking is not the best but the food is awesome. There was a sandwich. I don't know the name, but it was so delicious. The cheese is melted hard where it caramelizes and it was delicious with chicken or beef, there are authentic Mexican beverages. This is a great spot.

Jessie C.

Yelp
Best street taco place I've been too in the downtown Dallas area. The prices are good, service is fast, and I love how it's such a hole in the wall. Personally, I don't mind when a place is a little rusty- only if the food there is good. I took these to go, but for 3 suadero tacos ($2 each) and a small horchata ($2?) you can't beat the price. The meat was so tender/seasoned and horchata was not grainy. Will be back to try more types of tacos. Great place for either dine in/take out.

Adam H.

Yelp
Amazing taco spot. Truly authentic and always busy!! Honestly this might just be the best tacos in Dallas. Will be back!!

Uyen L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit this spot for years, but I don't visit downtown Dallas enough to stop by. My manager recently reminded me of this place, and I was downtown for an anime convention, so it was perfect timing. The restaurant is a little outdated and dirty, but that's how you know the food is going to be FIRE. The menu was simple and easy to understand. You have your typical street tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and drinks. Luckily, we came right before the dinner rush because after we sat down, the restaurant was PACKED and the line went from one end to the other. The tables were pretty dirty. I'm not sure if the workers wipe them down after someone sits there, but I grabbed some paper towels and wiped them before sitting. My boyfriend and I ordered 10 tacos, each with different meats so we can try them out. I also got a horchata fresca as well, and it was one of the best horchata that I tried. Idk what they did, but the drink was light, and there wasn't too much of that grainy part inside. It took about 10 mins for the tacos to come out, and HOLY SH*T, the tacos were ALL SO FREAKIN' GOOD!!! I loved my typical lingua and tripe tacos, but the highlight was the suadero tacos. I think that's a thin slice of beef, but it was juicy and authentic and they have the perfect amount of onion and cilantro. I regret not buying more of the suadero tacos, and the line was too long for me to get some to-go. I took off one star because of the cleanliness. I usually don't mind but the tables were really dirty and there were flies flying around. I'll definitely grab like 6+ tacos next time for myself because I've been thinking about their juicy tacos for days now. Delicious!!

Carrigan R.

Yelp
Hands down the best tacos I have had in DFW!! I first had these during my residency at BUMC with my co-residents. Through the years they have remained my favorite taco in DFW. The el pastor is the best taco for sure!! The tacos even heat up well as leftovers, so don't be afraid to take some home! The service is always so sweet and welcoming, and they are super quick in making the food too! Don't judge a book by its cover on this one!

Raquel M.

Yelp
My favorite favorite taco spot. They make you feel so welcomed every time I come in here and the tacos are by far the best in Dallas. It was 6:50pm one time and even when my grandpa wanted coffee, the brewed a fresh pot for him. That's beyond the best customer service. Thank you guys!

David S.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for a while now and I was sort of in the neighborhood, so I had a chance to try these tacos out for lunch that one day. First of all this place is a hole in the wall joint and isn't the prettiest place around, but the tacos are really, really good. I had a bistek and a pastor taco and they were $2.00 tacos at that! While everyone else is raising their prices because of this climate we are living in right now, these tacos are still $2.00, so you can't beat those prices. The only thing I wish they had was a salsa verde. They do have 2 styles of salsa, but I wish they had salsa verde. I will be back to buy these tacos and I will probably buy salsa verde elsewhere.

Roe A.

Yelp
Food is good and filling! Really recommend the Pastor tacos, the meat is flavorful and has a bit of a spicy kick to it. $2.00 a taco which is great for double tortilla (we got maiz) and good meat serving. The red salsa was spicy, I wish the green one had more flavor. The dining space was clean and had lots of seating. The folks at the register were friendly and fast. A great spot to grab a bite to eat!

Franki H.

Yelp
Best street tacos in Dallas! Al pastor taco was the best one I tried. It is served with grilled pineapple, onions, cilantro and a lime. I've also had the chicken and steak tacos. The salsas that come with the tacos (one red and one green) are some of the best salsas I've had but they are spicy! It's flavorful and really elevates the tacos. It's a walk up counter and the ladies taking orders are very efficient and nice. It's clean and a great stop for lunch or dinner.

James Z.

Yelp
Our favorite taco joint in DFW. We love everything we've had here. Everything is really well seasoned and cooked fresh to order. Our favorites are the lengua, al pastor, suadero, and tripa tacos on corn tortillas. Think about this place a lot and wish I lived closer.

Hannah S.

Yelp
A classic taco spot with reasonable prices and perfectly flavored meat. If you go to Tacos La Banqueta you should anticipate authentically crafted tacos where the meat is so tender and flavorful that you truly don't need more than cilantro, onion and lime as toppings. This is hands down the best taco place that I have been to in Texas. The staff is efficient and friendly and the bright yellow building is hard to miss when driving by!

Emily N.

Yelp
Definitely a solid taco spot in Dallas. They are hella busy but once you order, food comes out pretty quickly. The salsas are so good here as they are actually spicy. Would I make the drive out for these tacos from the burbs? Probably not. However, if I am in the area, I definitely will need to make a pit stop here.

Laura V.

Yelp
I tried the steak tacos and they are really good and tasted authentic. They have a great variety of tacos from steak and chicken to tripa. I will say the tacos are on the smaller side but have double the tortilla so you need like 3-4. I would go with corn tortillas over the flour bc they taste home made. They do charge about a dollar extra for onions, cilantro and cheese (combo) but you can choose which one you want and how much. I also tried their lemonade which is really an agua fresca I enjoyed it but if you prefer a sweeter lemonade it's not the drink for you. I had to bring down points for the actual place the seats were ripped, and there were flies everywhere. Therefor I recommend getting your food to go.

Joanne C.

Yelp
Moved here from LA 2years ago and have miserable with the taco selections here. Was SOOOOO pleasantly surprised by with our order here!!! Tacos were street tacos sized, moist, flavorful!! Cannnnnot wait to come back. And if you see cars and cars and the restaurant filled with hispanics can only hope for the best! Thank you so much cannot wait to come back again!

Andrew C.

Yelp
No frills, solid taco spot if you're ever in the area. This has been a staple in the area for many, many years and the quality hasn't changed one bit. Prices have popped up a little bit over the years (but really, what hasn't?) and it can occasionally take a long time to either call in your order or order your food, as there's always a steady flow of traffic. These tacos are definitely on the smaller side but the meats are super flavorful. I'm usually a fan of their pastor, steak, and suadero tacos - you can't really go wrong with any of these. Occasionally one of the meats is a little dry but otherwise its a solid taco overall. I'd recommend calling the order in ahead of time. Parking can be a little tough during busy times and the line may take a while to get through, but this place is worth a stop if passing by the area!

Angie B.

Yelp
Don't let the unassuming appearance deter you. This place is loaded with character and loaded with delicious food! Best tacos I have had in Dallas! (And I have had a lot of tacos) We found this place through good reviews and they are all true! The tacos are delicious! Order four. That should do the trick! And order the Horchata! Delicious! This is our new place when we come to Dallas! Hands down!

Danielle E.

Yelp
I knew this place was official when the menu was in Spanish and the 1st lady that took my order didn't speak a lick of English. The 2nd lady helped take my order . Then the 1st lady came back asked me for my name Danielle she looked like huh . I repeated myself same look, I said Daniela . She wrote it down I said this ish about to be fire ! It was all kind of ppl in there. When food is so good it brings all walks of life ! I can't remember all the tacos I got I know one was Mexican sausage and one was pork . The green sauce is really good . Next time I go I wash for extra! It is so good !

Heidi A.

Yelp
Excellent tacos, once again! Service is nothing spectacular which is on par for any busy taqueria. I will say that during this visit, we dined in and found the dining area very neglected. Tables were dirty and trash was left out. It didn't seem too busy (3pm on a weekday) so I'd imagine the lunch rush was way before our arrival. Nevertheless, I come here for the tasty tacos and that's what I got. Al pastor, suadero, chorizo, and bistec (steak) are my favorites! So delicious!

Kimari C.

Yelp
Food is delicious! Service is super quick! Came here for birria but didn't see any on the menu so I got flour chicken and beef and Tacos here are mini but actually really great! Delicious! And the salsa is 100% great as well!

Bridget B.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic tacos at a great price this is the place to go! I personally wouldn't recommend the horchata as it is watery and tastes like a mix, but the food makes up for the flavor lacked. I also marked down because you are charged for to-go salsa if you want more than 1 hot & 1 mild. While I understand there is a cost incurred by the restaurant for these sauces, the portions are too small to offer less than 2 of each & I have seen other customers make the same comment. Overall, would highly recommend, but if you are getting to-go, expect to pay a little extra for sauce or have some of your own ready at home!

Dwaneika C.

Yelp
Literally the best taco joint in Dallas! Really authentic taco joint and food made to order; no bad service but not super over the top friendly either but you're there for the tacos so focus! You can sit in a little seating area to the side but I usually grab and go on my lunches. I haven't had a better spot her in DFW yet.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Finally got my tacos fix! The service was very quick and they cooked fresh meats. I'll come back and try other meats on the menu.

Samuel G.

Yelp
Tacos are good, sauce is alright. It could be better. It was decent enough to come back. Not much more to say, give it a try!

Kassiel G.

Yelp
You have to try these tacos. Juicy, authentic, melt-in-your-mouth meats with the perfect curation of toppings and salsas! Matched with a Jamaica agua fresca- heaven. Be sure to try these tacos as you will surely keep thinking about them for a while after...

Aiko K.

Yelp
The outside looks a bit sketch and not a lot of decor going on inside the restaurant but this place is *chefs kiss* I forget to take pictures here because I always get overly excited to eat and I gobble up my food so fast. Their suadero and tripa are my favorite tacos on the menu. If I allowed myself I would eat 10 of each by myself. The guy who's always there is extremely friendly and nice too! (He wears glasses). There's also another location on the other side of Lakewood, but the other location is takeout only whereas this location offers dine-in.

Marysol R.

Yelp
OVERALL EXPERIENCE (3.2) Would only eat here again if this was the only place open late at night. (Detailed review below) OUTDOORS3/10 Located in a rundown section of the city. Unclean parking lot. There is plenty of space to park. They have their own parking lot. INDOORS3/10 The interior is a bit rundown and unclean. The restaurant furniture was stable but worn down. The kitchen is at view when walking in. It has AC and bathrooms. WAITING TIME 10/10 We didn't have to wait on Wednesday around 9pm. Got our order in 15 minutes. ORDER 3/10 Lengua corn tacos 3/10 The meat was a bit hard and cut into larger than normal pieces. It needed to be seasoned a bit more. The corn tortillas are store bought. Pastor corn tacos 2/10 The meat was a bit too sweet which gave it a tangy taste. Bistec corn tacos 4/10 The meat had a lot of fat and hard parts (don't know the correct name for that). The seasoning on it was pretty good. SERVICE 10/10 The person who took out order was very friendly. He was quick and got our order right. He was polite.

Sasha B.

Yelp
Hands down the best tacos I've ever had! If you're looking for authentic ones, this is the place. Service is average. The inside is simple, nothing fancy. Keep in mind this place is not about that, it is about food! When I think of tacos in general, I imagine tacos from La Banqueta!

Jim E.

Yelp
Don't skip this place if you like tacos. I have attempted to eat every taco DFW has to offer and so far, this place is the champion. I typically judge taco places strictly from their pastor tacos. However, every taco they have to offer is the bee's knees. Don't skip any of them and get after it!!

Gee A.

Yelp
The closest taste to Tijuana street tacos. We miss San Diego's El Gordo's and Tijuana style street tacos, but Tacos La Banquets holds us over. I will say they have the best cabeza taco I have ever had.

Shanelle S.

Yelp
Cheap and tasty tacos in Dallas. My local friend has been coming here ever since she was a child, and the tacos are legit. There were two lines - one for English speakers and one for Spanish speakers. Credit cards are accepted. Indoor seating is available (not outdoor). There's a small parking lot in the front. The tacos are small but there's a good amount of meat. The al pastor was particularly tasty, though I did like the suadero as well. The Jamaica was sweet and they have horchata too. They call out your name once your order is ready, and then you can put your own amount of red or green salsa using the squeeze bottles at the counter. They put cilantro and onions in each taco. One caveat about the overall dining experience - keep an eye out for your receipt, as they did overcharge a bit on my receipt (I.e., she put a large even though I asked for a small and she gave me a small cup. She also charged me for all flour tortillas even though I got two corn and only one flour. Overall, it's a tasty spot for tacos.

Simon K.

Yelp
Best carne asada tacos I've had in my life. I'm gonna move to Dallas one day because of these tacos. Until then, I'll be eating then in my dreams

Jacareya T.

Yelp
I walked up to the counter and ordered the tacos and reasonably priced I ordered 6 tacos 3 steak and 3 pastor. I drove home with them and they were still hot. Each taco had flavor and the salsa they provided was salsa rojo and salsa verde they had good flavor the staff seemed friendly and I most def will go back

Larysa W.

Yelp
I am heartbroken that I am moving away from Tacos La Banqueta. This has been my favorite hidden gem in Old East Dallas for a few years and I fear I won't ever find authentic cuisine like this ever again (I'm being mildly dramatic but I will truly miss this place). The building is unassuming, but you truly need to be prepared for an amazing and flavorful meal. Whenever I dine here, my boyfriend and I do 3 of each taco on a corn tortilla and it is perfect since we want just a little bit of leftovers for the next day. Everything is incredibly flavorful - especially the Pastor or Bistek tacos. Pair that with a Horchata ($1 refills, by the way), it is godly. Very welcoming staff - the same people that worked here when we visited many years ago still work here. They're more than happy to run you through the menu and provide recommendations. They take cash or card. For any small business, I would recommend you pay in cash : )

Zachary M.

Yelp
Friendly employees. 2 tacos: beef and chicken. Tacos were elegantly plated, especially given how low-cost they were. For a "hole in the wall" gas station adjacent restaurant, the flavor was outstanding and everything was clean, though bare minimum in the interior. 4 tacos might be enough for a meal. I would surely visit again.

Jose D.

Yelp
I figured the attitudes they have had the last two times I got food from here was because of how busy they were. But after ordering food waiting an additional 10 min after it was "supposed" to be ready to come pick it up and they haven't even started cooking it. Then they try to get me to pay, when I said I would wait the additional 15min for my food and then pay the woman rolls her eyes at me. But that was the general attitude of all of the employees up front.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Definitely worth the hype. Fast service and delicious tacos. Lots of people came with families and groups.

Darius H.

Yelp
Gooooood tacos! I need to get back on my Spanish so the chicas can show me love when I pull up

Nasha B.

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars because I believe there's always room for improvement. But, for this place, I'd even give it 10 stars. I've tried many different tacos spots around Dallas, but this place is #1 in my heart. It is so AUTHENTIC, the tacos are cheap, the meats are cooked just right, and the two hot sauces ---- not only does it have a kick, but it has such complimentary flavors. Every single time my fiance and I have gone, there's a line, but the line goes quickly, and even if it's long and a little slower at times, it's worth the wait. We have taken all of our visitors from outside of Dallas here and it's been a crowd-pleaser.

Orlando C.

Yelp

Erika G.

Yelp
Meat had A LOT of gristle, any table available was dirty. Maybe try something other than the bistec. They didn't have fajita.

Monica B.

Yelp
best street tacos in dallas easily! Authentic fantastic tacos. Highly recommend the steak street tacos and the horchata

Richard H.

Yelp
I have had tacos in Mexico, throughout Texas and California. I don't think it's a stretch to say these may be the best tacos I've ever had. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the pastor, suadero and tripa tacos and all of them were incredible. The sauces are also a delicious level of spice and SO good. I would give this place more than five stars if I could.

John R.

Yelp
Excellent chorizo, bacon & potato egg breakfast tacos. Fast & friendly service even when busy.

Hannah H.

Yelp
Great local taqueria. My favorites are the Al pastor tacos and bistec. I'd also recommend trying their quesadilla. The menu might look like only chicken but you can get any kind of meat. You have to pay for the extra sauce to go.

Riley O.

Yelp
These tacos were SO good. I'm from the west coast and these taste the closest to home for me. The staff was very nice and attentive and they convinced me to order a horchata as well (good call) since it was my first time there. It's in a weird area but don't judge a book by it's cover! Inside the restaurant was clean.
