"Long-time Tacos Las Villas patrons will remember the days when you had to fight for a table in the cramped, skinny dining room. Since they expanded, there’s room for a full bar and enough tables that you rarely have to hover to snag one. This counter-service spot in Smyrna still keeps things fast and casual with a giant menu that includes all the staples (tasty tortas, sopas, burritos). But the one thing that needs to be on your table is their birria pizza. It’s big enough to share and juicy even without dunking it in the consomé." - jacinta howard, juli horsford
"Everyone wants a piece of a good thing, so we're not surprised that Tacos La Villas expanded its dining room, added a bar, and shed its IYKYK standing. Expect the Mexican restaurant to be busy: Staff shout out order numbers in Spanish and English. Families huddle over baskets filled with tamales and tacos. And newbies study the giant menu, which covers everything from thinly-pounded chuletas to birria pizza that’s so juicy it doesn't need the consomé. If you’re easily overwhelmed by options, get the tender lamb on a corn tortilla and scoop up some green crema from the condiment bar." - jacinta howard, juli horsford, nina reeder
"People drive from all over Atlanta to hit up this counter-service spot in Smyrna offering everything from burritos to street tacos with a DIY salsa bar. People can call and order platters of mini tacos and birria pizzas for takeout and local delivery perfect for feeding a crowd. There’s a location open in Kennesaw." - Molly Harris
"Wave after wave of people bring life to this relatively quiet Smyrna shopping plaza during the lunchtime hour. They’re here for the affordable corn tortilla tacos from Tacos La Villa. With 13 protein options, our favorites are the tender lamb and chopped steak. The tacos are small (we’re talking like three large bites). But the prices range from $1.80 to $3, so we gladly compile a taco collection to take to our table. Hit the condiment bar to doctor yours up with three types of salsas (the green crema is the star), cilantro, onions, and anything else you fancy." - juli horsford, demarco williams
"Tacos La Villa in Smyrna is another all-star in our taco hall of fame. This counter-service restaurant does traditional birria tacos very well, too, but we’re big fans of their pizza birria. Mounds of shredded beef and a hefty amount of melted cheese are sandwiched between two giant tortillas. It really does look like a big meat pie—so huge they put it in a pizza box. And at $18, you get eight slices, which are bigger than a single taco ($3.50). Your fingers will be bright orange at the end, but it’s worth braving the oil stains and consommé splatter for this deal." - juli horsford
