Tacos Por Favor

We tried this spot out based on the recommendation of the staff at my wifes' doctors office. It was ok. We got here before the lunch rush so I found a metered parking spot in front on the street. The young lady helping us was very nice and helpful. We ordered the Carnitas plates with rice and beans. Chips and salsa, and a Carne Asada Sope. The Carnitas were okay not greasy, they were warm, okay. Rice and beans were on point. Guacamole on point. Chips were okay. A little greasy and missing something for my liking. Kinda stale. Honestly in my opinion it was okay. Not the worst but it didn't wow either one of us. I don't think we'll be back even though the young lady recommended the hard shelled tacos and the bacon breakfast burrito, just throwing that out there for some other brave soul. The red salsa was on another level and the flour tortillas were on point I will say that. The place is huge inside and clean. It's older. It was ok. I don't think we're going to be back.

got one of the breakfast burritos. very big, very reasonable, and very good. plus, it came with free chips.

Seems like a cool relaxed place. Bigger than it looks. Taste is great and very authentic.A little pricey in my opinion but it is Santa Monica after all. Paid $16 for asada burrito. Enjoy!

This was a hidden gem Hole in the wall place with amazing food We got tons of tacos and chicken quesadillas! Everything tasted super delicious I would definitely come back! Biria was my favourite!!

You don't know the West Side unless you know Tacos Por Favor. This is the spot – accept no substitute. Authentic, generous, great people, and great community spot! Red sauce, green sauce, I love them both! Why are you still reading, with the shop that's open from 8am-8pm, you could be there right now! Goooo!!

Unfortunately, over the past few years, the prices have gone way up, but the quality of food has gone way down. Won't be back anytime soon. Dame shame as the tacos used to be great.

One of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Shrimp chimichanga (trust) was perfect. Cheesy on the inside. Perfectly cooked shrimp. Crispy tortilla. Guac and salsa are super fresh. Totally cleaned our plates. Inside is cozy and comfortable. Fast service. Big menu. Lots of seating

I literally dream of tacos por favor every single day. For affordable meals and large portions, there is no better place than tacos por favor. We got the breakfast chilaquiles as well last the machaca plate and I could not decide which one is better. If you stumble upon this, please go!

Wow. Just, wow. This place is absolutely no frills and I knew when I walked in the food would be incredible. The moment I bit into my chile relleno I felt pure Mexican food joy that I was searching for on my California trip. The portions are huge. The flavors are everything you'll ever ask for. Go here. Like twice a week at least.

What I Ordered: -Taco Pastor $4 -Taco Asada $4.15 -Taco Quesabirria $4.15 I was feeling Tacos and wanted some authentic. I found my way to Tacos Por Favor. I asked the cashier by the name of Nancy for some suggestions and asked what was popular. I was told the California Burrito, Tacos and Breakfast Burritos. We all know LA is a taco city and San Diego is a burrito city. I prefer eating Tacos in LA unless a place is well-known or well-regarded for having burritos. If you pay cash, your food will be cheaper than with a card. No problemo! Cash it is! Pennies and everything. I opted for a Taco Pastor, Taco Asada and Taco Quesabirria. All the tacos were great! I prefer not to pay so much for a taco, but with this quality and taste. I'll pay over $4 all day. My favorite is the Taco Asada. The Asada was so flavorful and tender. My second favorite was Quesabirria. I really like Quesa taco and who doesn't like a grilled cheese and a taco combined because that's pretty much what a Quesa Taco is. I don't want to say the Pastor was my least favorite because it was still very good. Each taco comes with a small bag of chips. I only got one bag of chips probably because I was one person. I would have liked another bag of chips, but this was enough food for me. It came with a red and green hot sauces. The green sauce was a bit milder and the red sauce was spicy with a manageable kick to it. There's free water which is always nice. The food was great. I would definitely come here even if it's off the beaten path. This is not the hipster Mexican food you'll find down by the pier. This authentic and quality tasting Mexican food. I'm really surprised the reviews are so low. I saw some reviews from 16 years ago. You know if a business has been in business as long as Tacos Por Favor then they are doing something right.

Wife and I needed quick snack before the flight. We wanted mexican and jumped on yelp right away. For mexican spots, anywhere old with lots of reviews and menudo on weekend, we are down for it, and was not disappointed. Service was fast, food came out fast, reasonably priced, only down side was that the food was lukewarm. I like my meundo & birria piping hot, (my Mexican friends approve of this). Apart from the food temp, 10/10 would recommend.

I really love their potatoe breakfast burrito it's very yummy the flavor of the salsa and quality of cheese are great. I haven't been here in awhile and upon my return and to my surprise their burrito got bigger, just as delicious as alwaysss. Quality everytime and they give a little complementary bag of chips and salsa. Always fast, friendly and efficient customer service. The restaurant is large and has enough seating for family.

I'm glad to say that the food is still good here. I went today after a few hours of beach volleyball. I got the cheese enchiladas combo with red sauce. It was delicious and filling. I was a little sad to see that the salsa bar is gone, but they still give out chips and salsa, and will give you carrots if you ask.

Wow! I'm very disappointed in this torta. I eat hard shell carne asada tacos from here often, and I should have stuck to my regular order. The bread was stale as well as overcooked and burnt. I only wanted to give you one star, but the good carne asada in this terrible torta earned you a second star.It will be a while until i come back.

Authentic Mexican food in the heart of the westside. Located in a busy shopping center with limited parking. Tacos Por Favor has an extensive menu and decent food, but is a tad bit overpriced if you ask me. Not really much of an aesthetic and more of a hole in the wall Mexican spot with efficient service and indoor + outdoor seating. Ive had the chile relleno plate which was pretty good. Pretty decent serving size, but not enough rice. The beans were also very watered down and all over the plate. Another downside was that the plates they use are thin so at one point, i cut through my plate and my food was touching the tray. Gross. Ive also tried the potato tacos - filling, but bland flavor wise. Kind of disappointing considering that they are $5 each. Why is a taco with no meat $5?? Idk but not worth it if you ask me. One thing my coworkers appreciated are their fries lol. The taste/smell like McDonalds fries. $7 for a side order of fries. Decent, but nothing amazing for how overpriced they are.

A classic. Excellent all around. Standing and waiting for your name to be called always sucks, but at least you can hear them. The food is stellar and legit Californian Mexican.

Took out Mahi mahi taco when I got home wrong order. Vegetarian taco not one shred of fish. No dinner tonight

My husband and co-workers got severe food poisoning after eating here Wednesday afternoon. It's Saturday and they are still sick... I would avoid eating here completely.

First time trying this place out after hearing rave reviews but unfortunately was disappointed. It was about $14 for 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans. The service was pretty fast but there was nothing special to be honest so don't think I'll be returning. Parking on the street!

Deeee-licioso! After moving to CO and realizing the Mexican food is way way subpar, I was so happy to find this place on a recent visit back to LA!! It was exactly what I had been needing! So good. Yummy salsas too. Huge menu. Please come to Salida and show then how it's done

I give TPF a 5 because I was very satisfied. I was traveling from the valley and wanted something tasty to eat while on the west side. I haven't had fish tacos in awhile and my go to spot wasn't in operations any longer. So thanks to Yelp and all my bookmarks...Tacos Por Favor was next on my list. It didn't disappoint. Service was concise and fast. I ordered 1 fried fish taco, one lengua taco and the staple one small bowl of menudo. The fish taco appeared to be fried a lil too hard but the crunch along with the toppings was good. My lengua taco and menudo were on point! Despite it being a Saturday afternoon, seating was plentiful and it's a large airy space. The atmosphere is very laid back and everyone is there for one thing....good food. I will definitely be back with my family and rec to friends.

First time here and I loved it!! The halibut taco was my favorite and shrimp was also really yummy. I tried my friend's fried fish taco and I would definitely come back for it, the fish literally melts in your mouth. The salsas are really good and the tacos are very filling. I was very full and satisfied with two as they are NOT stingy with their toppings.

This is a solid spot, I'm not sure if it's a "destination dining" for me, who is more of a "basic" needs diner when it comes to Mexican cuisine where I don't like cheese, guacamole, sour cream, avocadoes, cilantro, spice, nor salsa or black beans. I'm pretty basic and stripped down. I love the Spanish / Mexican Chicken prepared not grilled (and inherently sometimes drier) but love the chicken that's almost stewed in a red tomato like sauce and simmers in it to maintain moisture, but Tacos Por Favor doesn't prepare their chicken in that manner. Parking can be tough if you don't like walking but feels plentiful if you can walk a few blocks.

I don't think the place is worth it for the price. I got the asada burrito bc it's my friends favorite but I think it's just okay. There wasn't anything special other than it taste homemade but there's definitely better. Also I got a 2 oz side of guacamole for almost 4 which is insane and overpriced. It wasn't even good. The best part was the corn tamale, it was served with sour cream which I loved bc that's how you're supposed to eat it. Overall not worth the price

Really great authentic taqueria. Fast personable service. Love this place. Salsas are decent but everything else is stellar.

Review for delivery I ordered the asada burrito, potato hard taco, and veggie hard taco. Unfortunately the food was subpar. The asada burrito had so much potential but was way too small for the price. The other two hard tacos were awful. They were both ice cold and the whole box was filled with corn chips. I also got two other bags of chips. They were all stale. I tried warming up the chips in the oven which made them somewhat better but overall the whole meal which cost $44 with Uber eats was giving back flashbacks of cafeteria food. Really disappointed and confused as this place got good reviews!

Unassuming exterior and interior but expansive menu of solid, basic Mexican fare. Glad I stopped. Plenty of parking on the street. Area seemed safe with minimal foot traffic on a weekend afternoon. Tons of to-go orders were a good sign. Service fast. My steak quesadilla was well stuffed with meat and cheese. Really tasty. Chips fresh and salsa spicy. Be careful! I sat at a little table on the street and found it pleasant with not much traffic noise. Inside tables busy. Decor basic. Clean but worn. Bathroom okay. Some tables awfully close to the restrooms for me. If I lived nearby I would be a regular.

I came here with a friend while waiting for my car to be serviced. It's a dive spot, nothing special, but clearly popular among the locals who work in the area. The restaurant is pretty busy during the lunch hour, but there is ample seating inside and a couple of seats outside. The menu is extensive, so I stuck with what's familiar and ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and my friend got the same. The quesadilla was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and came with plenty of guacamole, shredded lettuce, Pico de Gallo, and sour cream (a little watery but decent). The only thing that concerned me was cleanliness. It would have been nice to see someone wiping the tables down as people left and I would have felt more at ease if at least one of the two doors were propped open for ventilation.

I wish I could give no stars. I ordered a burrito and it came completely fucked yo and fell apart. Too big and stuffed to even wrap it properly. Such a waste of money.

This place is amazing! They have big portions for great prices! I wanted Chile Relleno, however I wanted Mole sauce on top! They loved the idea and created it for me!! The flavor was savory, sweet and makes my mouth water. The exciting part is that they told me they will be adding it to their menu! The staff is so friendly and sweet!

Was dissatisfied this time. My menudo came out luke warm instead of hot. There was nothing included to garnish the soup such as onions or oregano. I had to go ask and they only gave me lime and chili. It didn't taste as good with the missing oregano and chopped onions. The burrito had small blue chips of plastic that I had to remove (they were attached to the outside of the tortilla). Made me wonder if it was inside the burrito as well but didn't go through the trouble of transforming my burrito into a disassembled burrito to look for plastic chips, just hoped that I wasn't eating plastic and ate it all. Disappointed but food still tastes great.

Wouldn't return. Over priced, ordered tacos and the enchilada- not great. Wouldn't care if it was a hole in the wall spot if the food was good.

Ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and a birria taco on 2/26 and got severe food poisoning. I try to avoid 1 star reviews but I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone. The latest food inspection notes a major violation for 'proper hot and cold holding temperatures' which could very easily be how I got food poisoning.

Literally no sazón or flavor. Everything was bland to me. Even for that price, I don't want to go. Not to exaggerate, but I work between tacos, por favor and Taco Bell and I've chosen Taco Bell many times over this place of flavorless Tacos por favor is.

There's a reason I ALWAYS get tacos in Los Angeles - every place is amazing. Tacos Por Favor is no exception. These tacos are some of the very best I've ever had. The asada taco was so flavorful with charred steak. The carnitas taco was soft and savory. And the pastor taco was tangy and a little sweet! My favorite was their quesabirria tacos, which are filled with shredded beef and cheese, and then the outside tortilla is lightly fried. I do wish they had given some broth to dip it in like I usually prefer, but it was still great nonetheless. They gave excellent verde and red sauces, as well as a extremely spicy dark red sauce that helped cut through the fattiness of all the food. It was such a good experience and some of the best tacos I've had!

DO NOT ORDER THEIR POZOLE. I am currently ill, I order their pozole and I get shredded chicken in a tiny 8oz container with no condiments and maybe 10 broken chips, I contacted Tacos Por Favor and the reply was "sorry that's how it is." Mind you there is about 10 hominy bits in there. No lemon, no onion, nothing, only cabbage. WTF is this for $15. Absolutely insane, then I go to taste it, and it's like watered down boxed chicken broth with shredded chicken! I will never ever go back to Tacos Por Favor!

I've been going to this place for many, many years. After placing an order for a bfast bacon burrito bowl - I was told they did not have a bacon burrito bowl available so I said fine to the burrito. I immediately looked at their menu after the call (as someone pulled it up for me during my call) and I found they had an asada bfast bowl. I called back less than 1min later to update my pickup and specified that I wanted the bfast asada BOWL 3 times, for clarity. After I arrived for my pick up they had an asada burrito under my name - I told them I actually ordered a bowl and reiterated my calls 20 mins prior. The woman who answered my second call that I ordered my bowl with told me I ordered a burrito. I told her I called right after and made sure my order was updated to a bowl. During this time a young gentleman (the first person who answered the phone) told me "you at least need to speak clearly when you order on the phone" both refusing to take accountability , maintaining that I asked for a burrito 3 times - I once again reiterated my calls and the woman tells me the young man is 13 as if I should just understand his rudeness and unprofessional attitude. I'm not sure why they have a 13yr old working for them but most importantly answering the phone and allowing him to be confrontational with a customer, while telling the customer he is 13, he's a kid. I wasn't rude to the kid and I wasn't speaking to the kid. I was speaking to woman who has been there for years assuming she would have been more efficient given our call. To tell me I did not order a bowl when I literally confirmed I wanted a bowl 3 times was very poor service and ganging up on me was absolutely unacceptable.

Literally the most delicious Lengua tacos in this area. I also love their chicken pozole, too many places sell pork red pozole so it's nice to have chicken. Can't wait to eat here again and thank you for the generous amount of onion/cilantro.

If you're looking for authentic food, don't come here. This place is not authentic! I ordered a torta and it came on a roll instead of a bolillo, first red flag, in addition, it didn't come with beans or rice. Also, the Mexican waters are not in a jug, like they are supposed too. They are not good, taste more like cool aid. Will not be back.

So disappointed. I realized when I got home my burrito was 95% fries.... literal crumbs of asada inside. Not to mention the burrito was roughly $20. Basically paid for fries in a tortilla.

The best meal we had in LA. No joke. We ate at a lot of trendy places but this was the best meal I had while I was in town. Tacos are trendy right now so there are a lot of places making pretty ones that don't taste like much. This is is good, simple, well-done, old-fashioned Mexican food. Comfort food through and through. Stop here before eating at the Santa Monica Pier and you'll be happy you did.

One of my favorite places to get a breakfast burrito, simple yet delicious with the best salsa. ( even better to cure a hangover)

$12.99 for a can sized burrito?? I understand I'm in Santa Monica but dam!!! 2 stars because it was ok, but in my opinion not worth $13

Every time I have ordered just a bean and cheese burrito, the beans are always under cooked. Still half hard.

Great breakfast - both the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros were amazing. Highly recommended.
