Wow. These tacos were phenomenal. We ordered beef, chicken, marinated pork and beef cheek. The portion size for one taco is so generous it easily serves one person for a main meal. We got four between two (and a half - that friend who always wants some of your food). We couldn’t finish them and I have never been sadder to leave food on a plate. The salsas were extremely tasty and the onion and cilantro was fresh and perfect. The staff were so friendly and patient with the Australians trying to work out what to order. Over our two week trip in the US, my favourite meal.

This was by far one of the best spots in the market. The Carnitas are killer and the portion sizes are huge. Don’t be scared away by the prices because they more than make up for it in the portion sizes. Definitely a must stop while you are at the market and looking for some good grub!

Before coming to LA, we looked up food places to visit in LA on YouTube. Grand Central Market was one to keep popping up. We decided to try some of shops that were open. We got there kinda late, so a few were closed already. The wife loves tacos and "Tacos Tumbras a Tomas" did not disappoint. We didn't know what to get, it was soooo many options. We played it safe with the traditional chicken taco. When I say it was a mountain of chicken on the plate. That's an understatement. This ain't your Chipotle with those baby scoops. This chicken was juicy and full of flavor. It came with two corn tortillas. Them i found four more under Mt. Chicken. This was very delicious and cost friendly.

Delicious sandwiches and wraps. Really enjoyed the habanero chicken wrap. It has the perfect amount of heat combined with perfectly cooked and juicy chicken.

I bought the Buche Taco and 1 serving is insanely massive. Like for $5 you get a big portion of the meat, extra soft taco, 2 servings of salsa (one mixed with the meat and another on the side). This is so worth it. I paid extra $2 for the cheese and avocado. And another $2 for the bottled water. This feels very authentic and very tasty and delicious. And the servers are very nice! A must visit in the Grand Central Market.

$10 for two tacos (each = 3*regular taco size)!! Unbelievably cheap & tasty. Both the beef and the lamb tacos were impressive.

I thought $5 tacos were expensive but I was so wrong!! This place packs the food they give you. 2 tacos were the size of a plate. There was so much meat that you can have leftovers. I couldnt even finish a full taco because they give you so much. You even get extra tortillas to make more tacos yourself

This is my favorite carnitas taco spot!!! One taco is enough, they give you extra tortillas so you could get full with one and two if you're extra hungry.

Seven of us descended in search of a quick meal, and this spot delivered. Prices were classic downtown LA, your wallet winces a little, but doesn't fully scream. My quesadillas were so generously sized they basically fed me for the rest of the day, so value achieved. The ones who ordered burritos in our crew (including a few self-appointed authenticity inspectors) reported theirs were stuffed to near-explosion in the best way with good flavours. We snagged a few tables out front and squeezed them together. Not the most scenic corner of the market, but the food was fast, tasty, and perfect for a group refuel. Only blip: the staff seemed oddly annoyed when we asked for cutlery,though it turned out to be hiding in the to-go box. With no one in line behind us (not busy) it felt a bit unnecessary, but perhaps it was just a bad day.

Never would I imagine myself enjoy a taco this much! I had one yesterday, for $6, and I am thinking of when I can go back and had another one again! Yup, that good. We were at the Grand Central Market looking for lunch. Walked by this place, and the protein looked good and I ordered a beef tongue taco thinking to eat one as snack. The gentleman who served me was super friendly. Saw me taking a picture and volunteered to hold the protein so I can get a better picture. Here are plenty of seating area in the food court area. One taco can fill two person up. The meat was so tender, so good that I decided to go back and get one to go for mom to try. But they sold out of beef tongue taco already! Oh well, Until next time!

Tacos Tumbras a Tomas was the place my friend picked for a quick pick me up at Grand Central Market. There was quite a bit of wait, both to order and for the food. Once he got the food, the portions were large for the price! He also mentioned how they were really nice despite the busy atmosphere. The only complaint was probably the salsa, the flavor was a bit lack lustered.

this is my favorite taco spot in LA so far. i was recently looking at my old reviews from when i lived in CT and saw i had previously said i don't like mexican food. well, that was clearly because the mexican food in CT is horrendous. this place is one of the best spots, period. the servings of meat are huge for a good price and it's some of the most tasty and tender i have had. they have jowl, snout, tongue... all my favorites! it's my favorite spot in grand central and worth waiting for!

Delicious tacos and huge portions! This is located in Grand Central Market and is located towards the middle. It's near Donut Man. We tried a range of meats, including lengua, carnitas, cabeza, and asada. There's different texture to each meat and I find it uncommon for places to have such a range of meats. Staff was super friendly and service was fast (so if you see a line, it's for good reason and don't despair!).

Meat are delicious! Tacos to the max!!! Tacos are loaded with meat, meat and meat! Service is perfect ! Fast and friendly people! Clean and well kept counters! If you are in Downtown LA, you should pass by the Central Market, between 4th and Hill St. and try Tacos Tumbras a Tomas ! Perfect for a hungry tummy!

Who doesn't love a big taco loaded with meat? For $5 you get to choose what meat choice you want for your big taco. It comes with onion and cilantro, and the server was very kind to ask if we'd like that understanding that we are tourists. Just note that the meat is very fatty and oily so it can get quite heavy.

4++ Located inside the Grand Central Market, this stand or space feels like it's been here for quite some time. It's one of the handful of taco spots located in the market. The folks here are friendly and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get! I came in on the way home from work one night and wanted to get a chicken or pollo taco. The prices seem slightly high on the menu, but once you get it, you see why. This 'one' taco is basically the equivalent of like 4 tacos. The meat and toppings were piled high and you are given extra tortillas to mop up an straggling toppings that fall off your original taco. Best to be eaten with a fork (virtually impossible to pick up and eat with your hand). Another great piece in the Grand Central Market tapestry of yummy (and affordable) eats.

Tried out the carne asada fries and it was so much food for $15. It was very good, guacamole was fresh. Super filling and totally worth it.

Came here to Grand Central with my partner and I got one asada taco! Food here is so good and the portions, ommgg, crazy and one fills me up. Each taco is $5 and that's a steal for the price and portion. I eat this everytime I come to grand central. My favorite taco place to go. The only taco place in grand central that has a line. It's in the middle right side. Workers are extremely quick and friendly! Love this place.

Solid tacos for a very good price here. Only reason I didn't give 5* is that I've had better tacos but these are still quite good. And they're open early so that's a plus for those that need a taco before lunch. While $5.00/taco may seem high, it's the equivalent of 3 soft tacos. The tortillas are large and you get several of them. The meat portions are enough to make 3 or 4 tacos out of the plate

It's hectic!!! I bought 5 tacos for $25. Let me tell you the bag itself was 10lbs. The tacos come with extra tortillas wrapped inside because they know you'll have extra meat and will need it. It's absolutely true. Lengua Buche 2 pastor Birra (goat) The lengua was delicious. It was recommended by the guy who works at the pupusas place. He advised it normally sells out so get it while I can! It was busy but fast. It reminded me of Porto's how the line is where they call you and you select what you want. The location is in Grand Central Market and is pretty busy. Over all we were able to find a table and enjoy our food!

huge street tacos for a cheap price in THIS economy?! I'm sold. Trust, you only need to order a minimum of two tacos and you'll be fulllll. They fill the tortillas to the BRIM with delicious, flavorful meat and their salsas and veggies are so fresh. Tummy wasn't too happy after but I don't regret it one bit. Don't miss out on the tacos from this joint.

This place always seems to have the longest lines so I've never tried them before -- but at 4pm on Memorial Day it was slow --- so I got a $5.00 shredded pork taco and it was excellent. Two tortillas still weren't enough to hold all that meaty pork -- so I took some home. Seriously, you can make three tacos with all the meat they give you. Tasty and not too fatty. Got mine with onions and will throw on my own salsa and guac when I get home. Now I understand why this place is always busy!

Tacos Tumbras a Tomas is a staple of the Grand Central Market. They have been in business for 50 years. Many restaurants have come and gone out of the Grand Central Market, but Tomas has been a steady spot for many years now. I usually can house 3 or 4 tacos, depending on the size of the tacos. These tacos are hefty, and 2 tacos are like the size of 4 or 5 tacos in my opinion. I got the Carne Asada and the Carnitas tacos. They give you several extra tortillas to make more tacos from all the meat they give you. I don't like wasting food, but I didn't need so many extra tortillas. They asked me what spice-level hot sauce I wanted on the tacos, but I would have liked more sauce on the side as there wasn't enough hot sauce for me, as there was so much meat. I would have liked to add the sauce myself. I'm looking forward to coming back here in the future to try other tacos.

It had been a while since I last visited Grand Central Market, and I'm so glad I stopped by Tacos Tumbras a Tomas! From the moment I walked up, the customer service was great, and the place had a welcoming vibe. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and wow--it was delicious! Perfectly seasoned meat, generous portions, and every bite was packed with flavor. They have a full menu of amazing Mexican food, so there's plenty to choose from if you're craving something else. If you're in Downtown LA and looking for authentic, satisfying Mexican food, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Their taco is awesome, tried their carne asada taco and pig head taco, the portion is huge, even considering its price it's still worth it. Recommend it to every one of my friends. Service is also friendly, can't beat an authentic taco in LA. And it's very clean!

I got chicken and beef tacos 2tacos for $10 but their tacos was HUGE! I couldn't finish it but they gave me Togo box to take it home! They were very friendly I will come back! Thank youuuuu!

Food was good for what you get. One taco is big as your hand and come with two extra tortillas just because of how much meat you receive. The service was simple and easy. The line situation is a bit confusing but the line STARTS across form the register. You'll see the sign attached to the corner where the line starts. The whole atmosphere reminds me a street market with many other places all around and seating all spread throughout. Overall a good spot

I've been meaning to try the famous goat tacos at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas, and I finally got to give them a go! I wasn't super hungry when I went, so I only ordered one goat for $5. However, the portions are HUGE: the goat meat is really loaded on there, and you get extra tortillas on the side. The quantity for "one" taco is actually enough for 3-4 tacos...an absolute STEAL. I admit, the goat meat had some inconsistent dry parts, but it had tender, gamey parts that I enjoyed. The workers were nice and efficient, despite the long lines. Overall, it's an incredible at $5 for one taco (technically, 3-4 tacos); you'll definitely be full in the end!

You know a place is good when it has the longest line, luckily the line moved quickly. We ordered a carne asada burrito from Tacos Tumbras and it was so good and flavorful. A lot of places go heavy on the beans and rice and skimp on the protein, but not here. The burrito was large enough to share but you're going to want to eat it all.

Awesome spot. Decent selection, great quality, and great value for the amount you get. And the guy giving our food had a nice 'stache!

Been going here for over 20 years when I first started working in the area. These guys have been here even longer in certain because some of the guys here are now a little older like me and the food is no frills awesome. No hiding behind all sorts of sauces and cheeses. This is straight street cred tacos that are the most juiciest in a food hawker stall you'll ever find.... This is a must eat once a week place for me.... Dead serious. The guys are quick, friendly and they do recognize you if you're a regular.

Food came out fast and a good amount of food for the price. I got the asada tacos and it's delicious for the price, would come again.

This review is more of a 4.5, but I'll give the five star. First off, these aren't dainty street tacos, they're huge, with no skimping on the meat at all. At $5/each they are well worth it, as they are about double the size of ordinary tacos, and you are given extra tortillas for accommodate. All the flavors were very good, but the carnitas could stand to be fried/crisped up prior to plating. Staff was friendly. Walk over to the seating area and pair these with a Mango Cart from Golden Road, and you'll be all set.

Ordering process was not super clear, kinda just gotta go with it. 3 tacos - asada, carnitas, and al pastor. Skip the al pastor, asada and carnitas were excellent. 3 tacos was too much, even for a heavy eater like myself.

This place had a line but the line moved quickly. We tried it for the first time. Everything you order is overflowing of everything. I ordered and burrito and it was massive. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The market is loud and can get crowded at times.

Stopped by grand central market for some bites and drinks. Stopped by this place for some tacos but unfortunately wasn't very impressed. The tacos were good, nothing great. The rice was very hard and seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. The refried beans were also ok. I could have just gotten a bad plate as a fluke as I see this place has numerous great reviews.

Enough to make three or four tacos with the extra tortillas they give you. I ordered one carne asada and one pollo and as Ms Mosqueda wrote, the chicken was stellar. I'll venture to say that it was the best chicken taco I've ever had--so juicy and flavorful. My sister ordered their combo plate with just rice and she raved about the rice. And she is very picky about her rice!! Btw, 90 minutes for $5 at the parking structure next to the GCM!!

Objectively it's good But it lacks some depth of flavor in the meat I'm judging this purely against the taco stand outside dodgers stadium and this place doesn't compare really The service was slow on the day I went. Ambiance is food hall mayhem

Everything exceeded my expectations. I arrived Grand Central Market and saw a long line for this place so that's how I knew it was good. The man who took my order was cool man where he gestured everything to ensure that I get what I wanted. I got carnitas burrito that came with refried beans, Mexican rice, onions, cilantro, and their green mild salsa. The best carnitas burrito I have ever tasted! It's on the side of the market, you can't miss their sign.

One of my favorite taco spots to visit when I'm in Downtown LA. It's located into Grand Central Market near the side wall. I had been dreaming about their super tasty chicharrones tacos for days as well as their cabeza tacos. Unfortunately, the chicharrones on this day weren't as good as usual. They were under seasoned and also over powered by the lime from the salsa. They also weren't cooked long enough and didn't have that melt in your mouth texture that they usually do. Luckily though, the cabeza tacos saved the day. Absolutely melt in your beef almost as if you're eating beef butter. One thing I wished they'd do is provide hand made tortillas instead of just the ones premade from the bag. Overall I'd consider it a cheap eat though as just $5 a taco. Be sure to top things off with their orange Fresca. It literally tastes like a freshly made orange dreamsicle!

I ordered a chicken tortilla not knowing I would also get performance art. Just one shell, that's how it started and I thought, well I will be hungry and need another one. I was so wrong, by the time he was done delicately layering my tortilla with chicken, beans, lettuce, cilantro and on and on it was a masterpiece of large proportions. The guy next to me also watched in awe and said "I'll have what she is having." The taste did not disappoint. Until my next time in LA.

I have been in Virginia too long. The tacos in LA are off the hook. I ordered a carne asado taco and was served a taco with two tortillas on the bottom, three on the side and a very generous amount of carne asada. The lemon and red salsa took these tacos to another dimension. The line is quick and the server gives you what you want. Plenty of indoor seating with lots of music from multiple establishments.

Good variety and plenty of vegan menu options . Prices are very reasonable and they have a full bar.

This place is a stall located in the grand central market. Service is pretty quick and made to order. We got 2 tacos: Beef tongue taco - the beef tongue has great flavor and is pretty tender. The salsa and onions they add on cut the cattiness and give it some oniony kick. The lime helps add acidity and freshness. There is a TON of meat on top of flour tacos. Hog Maw - also tons of meat. The stomach meat is decently tender with a natural chew due to it being stomach. Again, lime, onions and salsa add some acidity and freshness. Price: 5$ per taco but its a lot of meat and lots of flour tortillas to eat! Would definitely recommend and return!

I have been eating here 20+ years !!! Last Friday the 1st I ordered I beef taco and I pork taco and took it home and ate that night Saturday lunch and Dinner. It was just me but I could have fed two more . They are always busy. Love you all. I always give at least a 5.00 tip . Phillip

I used to come here often and didn't want to write this review but the way they handled the situation wasn't how I expected since I been a loyal customer for some time now. Found a long hair in my food yesterday and went back today to inform them (wasn't asking for a refund or anything just warning them) and the main owner acted like I was lying and said none of the guys have long hair, well neither do I and I had no reason to lie. So won't becoming back here and watch out for hair in your food!

Located in grand central market. They have a line that starts perpendicular to their location (like a straight line facing them that starts in that small alleyway). They're good at grabbing the next customer from there and not taking orders at random people who come up to them from the side. My rating is only based on the chicken quesadilla. They give you a LOT of chicken. They ask if you want rice and beans but I asked for vegetables because I loveeee to eat a lot of pico de gallo with my quesadilla. Trust me, the quesadilla is already big enough without needing rice and beans to fill you. They give lettuce, tomatoes avocado, onion, salsa verde and rojo, and lime. It was so good.

Largest 5 dollar tacos ever! It's a meat pile on tortillas and they give you extra tortillas to eat it all up.

My husband stood in line for 20 minutes to order and when he got to the front, he was finally told that he was waiting in the pick up line and would have to go to the back of the other like that had just formed. I ordered three tacos: carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor. They definitely packed the meat into these tacos but sadly, the meat did not taste that great to me or my husband. It lacked flavor, was dry, and felt very heavy going down. Their salsa was good and helped a bit with the flavor and dryness.

Bommmbbbbbb tacos, always come in huge portions that you're really getting two normal sized tacos in one. They gave me an extra tortilla with my two taco order so honestly, i got like 3-4 worth!! Def not complaining about the $5/taco price point. We came on valentines day night and the line was long but fast. I got my food in like 5 mins and my bf had to wait 30+ mins at the pupusa stand nearby. I highly recommend the carnitas - the meat is so juicy and has this smokey/grilled flavor. The birria is also really tasty and a good pair to the carnitas. There's a parking garage attached - space is tight but I appreciate the 90 min for $4 flat rate, perfect amt of time needed to get your food, eat, and even some room for dessert.

Pro-tip: Good luck on parking! Trust me, this rating kinda surprised me. Reason? Raft of restaurants in the market on broadway are notoriously and disproportionally priced vis a vis quality Yes, eggslut is overrated . From the layout, I thought not too much of it. Customers are served chipotle style. Meaning served down a makeline to cashier. 2024 $14.50 which is pricier a la carte. Ordered the Al pastor burrito and it was good! Best part being the meat was perfectly seasoned. It has somewhat of (subtle) semi-sweet aftertaste. Don't know if this is via pineapple marinade or something else. It's very pleasant . The burrito is quite filling. Would definitely come here again. Parking makes eating here somewhat of a chore. Be prepared to walk upwards of a half mile.

Grand Central Market, DTLA. The ambiance is how another reviewer had described it - "old dirty market" that they brought in new vendors to make it more appealing. Anyways, there was a line for this taco place, so we had to give it a try. The guy working the stall was super nice and friendly pointing out what meat was what. I ordered a taco with Al Pastor ground pork. He gave condiments of salsa, lemon wedges, napkins, and utensils. When, I grabbed the bag, it felt pretty heavy. I thought to myself, this is supposed to be one tiny taco, but feels like a burrito. I open the bag and the taco was huge and filled with meat! Wow, this is how they make it here. It was pretty tasty and filling.
