It was nice out, and it was perfect that we were seated outside, reminding us all over again how much we love Astoria as our neighborhood. The food came out all delicious. I was introduced to Huitlacoche for the first time from the quesadilla we ordered, and I became a fan. The service was excellent, despite their busy day.

PERFECTION!! We stumbled upon this place while waiting for our cars to get cleaned and decided to come in for brunch! And it was the best decision we made! This restaurant is really nice and offers a great brunch! Drinks were on point and the food… it was DELICIOUS! This is the best fajitas I have ever had!! It was that good! Will definitely be back!

Delicious food. Wonderful staff! Perfect guacamole. The fajitas are delicious and the skirt steak melts in your mouth. Second time ..wow again! Salmon and chicken oh boy!! Nachos! Must get the corn!!!!!!!! Omg!!! Pablo you rock!

Review: Tacuba Cantina Mexicana – Great Food & Atmosphere, Let Down by Cashier (Visited on 12 July) I had an early dinner at Tacuba Cantina Mexicana on 12 July, and I was genuinely impressed by the vibrant décor and flavorful food. The restaurant was decked out with festive papel picado, warm string lights, and Día de los Muertos-themed decorations, creating an inviting and culturally rich atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger and soak in the energy. I ordered the Carnitas (Platos Fuertes)—the pork was tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced, served with crispy chicharrón and a rich sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The cocktail I had was also a highlight: tropical, tangy, and served with a chili-lime rim and fresh garnishes. Everything was plated nicely and tasted just as good. However, I did experience a downside. The cashier working the early dinner shift that day had an unfriendly, dismissive attitude. When I politely approached her with a simple question about my bill, she responded coldly, which dampened what was otherwise a pleasant meal. Good service should extend from floor staff all the way to the front counter, and unfortunately, this part fell short. In summary: ✅ Ambience: Colorful, lively, and authentic ✅ Food & Drinks: Delicious, well-presented, and worth the price ❌ Service: Excellent on the floor, but cashier’s attitude needs improvement I’d still recommend Tacuba for the overall experience—just hope to see more consistency in customer service next time.

We were suggested this location as a nice lunch spot. We were seated immediately without reservations. Service was prompt, courteous, and professional. We ordered the taco plates with some sides. Food was brought out in a reasonable time. Refills on our water were lacking, and my wife had to ask for more. The food was flavorable. My wife enjoyed the Brussel sprouts. We also had coffee and a dessert. The flan was well-made, and the coffee was good as well. The overall atmosphere was pleasant. We would return if in the area.

This establishment has been here for quite sometime and it never disappoints. Some of their menu items can be on the pricey end but nonetheless the food is delicious. The decor is tasteful and accompanied with Latin/Hispanic music while you enjoy your meal and drink(s). The waitress wasn’t as attentive and we couldn’t find her when we wanted more water or our bill. The food and beverage was pretty good. We hope to return to receive better service. A community staple indeed. Establishment is rather large and can accommodate large parties of 6+

LOVED this restaurant. As soon as we walked in the host was warm and welcoming. He asked where we wanted to sit and we wanted a booth but then decided it was too close to the door on a cold rainy day. He understood completely and we were seated at another booth. The service: amazing! The waitress was smiling and kind, she was more than willing to answer questions and did not rush us at all. The busboys too, I HATE having my empty plate sit in front of me forever when I am quite obviously finished (the food is so could have licked my plate clean, but that would be uncouth). The drinks: I had a frozen mango margarita and it was delicious. The Food: absolutely amazing. We had the guacamole of course, it was very good (a little nitpick, but too cold for my liking). We also ordered the sweet plantains for the table, yummy. The entrees were so so good and the portions are very generous, I am still full. I had the Carne Asada and it was mouthwatering good, and cooked to perfection. I usually eat dessert, but shockingly I just did not have the room for dessert, the dessert menu had extremely tempting choices but I just couldn't eat anymore. The ambience: great, I love the decor. The tables and bar were nice. There was one extremely loud group, they may have been drunk, but who acts like that in public at 1:30 in the afternoon? Anyway, that is not the restaurants fault and I'm sure it was annoying to them as it was to us. Short story: Again, I absolutely loved it. I was very happy to take a card and see that they have Desktop another restaurant in Hells Kitchen as I live on the Upper West Side. I will definitely be visiting that location and doing it soon. I just hope the host, the ambience and the food are just as good as this one.

Great spot for some quality food along with amazing service. We came here for a happy hour but stayed for dinner as well since the drinks and appetizers were delicious. The music here is fun and the vibes are spot on. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back soon because this spot is worth it. Would highly recommend!

Very, very solid option if you want a place to get lit meanwhile filling your stomach...so you can drink more. I've been here for both a late lunch and dinner and on both occasions, for whatever reason, they blast the AC in the middle of winter, which is absurd. It's a high energy place for sure but no where near the congestion of a salsa club. This should go without saying but obviously, their guac & chips is a must. You'll get a big ass serving of guac in a molcajete, which is cute though that may not have been necessarily how it was actually made. I got a Birria Burrito on my recent visit and it was surprisingly amazing. My friends were pretty envious of the serving size for the decent cost ($18) and I literally tapped out a little more than halfway in and had to fight my appetite to fit in dessert. I also remember having their tacos on a previous visit but don't think it's worth anything writing home about. Definitely a great spot for drinks, food, and vibes with large groups. A little out of the way from other parts of Astoria that are more commercial and mainstream but one of the few vibrant places in Astoria that are able to host large groups.

Me and a friend met for dinner on a freezing winter evening. It was brick outside so I was expecting it to be warm and cozy inside but it wasn't. The heat was mediocre during our dinner which is why I didn't give 5 stars. Everything else was excellent, from the staff to the food. Angel and Gabriella served us abs they were sweethearts. We started off with cocktails, i had the sangria and my friend had a cocktail. For starters, I finally tried the emote and omgggg why did I wait so long to try this corn. I devoured that corn and my friend laughed and asked if I didn't have any shame. uhhh no, if it's good that's what you do. lol as I licked my fingers. For an entree I had the "Pollo con Mole" which is chicken, rice, plantain with this dark crazy looking sauce that had me having second thoughts when they first brought out the plate. Lol. However, once I tried it I was very satisfied. The meal was nice and hot and delicious. My friend had the nachos with beans and cheese and I helped her eat some of meal because it was good. I was hoping she didn't want her leftovers because she usually don't take any but this time she did. lol This is definitely a spot we both agreed the food and service were excellent. Until next time because we'll return to check out some other menu items.

My friends and I walked in here randomly, after visiting the Museum of Moving Image and were really pleasantly surprised. It was an immediate party from the moment we walked in. It is a very colorful, large restaurant with lots of culture and some loud music. The service was good, but not particularly notable. I ordered a mojito ($12) and tacos de pollo ($12) and split some guacamole with my friends ($14). The food here was really great-super flavorful and also, beautiful (see photos below). Personally, the taco portion size was small, and I don't even eat that much. This seemed to be a theme with the other entrees my friends ordered as well. The guacamole was lovely and really fresh. The mojito was also perfectly done and I could have had many more than I did :) A great place to catch up with friends, but prepare to talk over the music!

I waited a long time for a very small portion. So, I can't say this was very satisfying. Today I walked by and saw an eviction notice on their door - see pic.

From the outside this place looks like it could be something awesome but no it was not. Service was cool that was the best part of the night, the food is mehhhh ok, tacos are mini size they had flavor but nothing to go back for, the elote was lime flavored, I'm sorry but it's a no come back for me.

So I had dinner with a friend here on a Saturday. To our surprise, every Saturday this restaurant has a live mariachi band playing until 7 PM. I don't remember what time the mariachi band starts. Call to check. The band plays beautiful music for the entire restaurant. I loved it ‼ The food is nothing to rave about. It's okay. The drinks were average. If you want to come for drinks, music, and average food, this is the spot.

Came here for dinner and it happened to be game 7 for the nba playoffs so I assumed that they'll be busy. Right off the bat it took extremely long to place an order for food. Food came out after a decent amount of time and for the amount of money they charge for tacos you'd expect a bit more. Drinks took just as long might I add. Each taco order comes with "3 tacos" or so we thought because every taco order was mini tacos with only 1 shell. After entrees we proceeded to order more beverages and nachos but there was no plate settings or utensils to eat the food. After everything I can say that I flagged down a different waiter a few times only to make eye contact and no help. I understand it's a busy day but it's also a Sunday so they should have been prepared which they weren't. I came here before and the service was never this poor but I can tell that this will be the pace going forward and won't be re visiting.

I been here a few times for drinks and finally made it for brunch. The drinks have always been on point and I was very happy with the food too. This isn't a party brunch but they do have a DJ playing music. I had the steak and eggs and it was very tasteful and plenty of food to soak up the unlimited sangrias. The service was good and they made sure we always had our glasses full.

Although a bit loud, tables are placed far apart for great conversations. Service is pleasant and efficient. And the food is excellent. Been there twice and both times it was delicious. Margaritas are also delicious.

Tacuba has some solid drinks and food in a great ambience. My friends and I got a couple margaritas, nachos, and enchiladas. The margaritas were good but could've been stronger. The nachos were fantastic and a very reasonable portions. The enchiladas were also pretty good but I have had better. All in all, I would return but I've been to better Mexican places as NYC has a plethora of them.

The bar was filled with everyone watching the knicks game so it was very entertaining. We ordered the chips and Guacamole which were good. I didn't like the chips particularly but I didn't hate them. The fish tacos were alright but I think it was just too much sauce for my liking.

We went to the Hells Kitchen Location. The place was cute inside. Appetizers Guacamole and chips. QUESADILLA DE ELOTE Y TRUFA Sweet corn, wild mushrooms, Chihuahua & Parmesan cheeses, black truffles- it was good but salty. Tacos CALABACITA CON JAMAICA Zucchini, corn, queso fresco, pico de gallo, crispy hibiscus flowers, palm-pico de gallo and chipotle salsa POLLO Chicken marinated in adobo, chihuahua cheese and pico de gallo PESCADO Crispy beer-battered fluke, cabbage-habanero salsa slaw, chipotle aioli, guacamole BIRRIA CON CONSOME Braised brisket in chiles, Chihuahua cheese, onions, cilantro, tomatillo salsa, consome broth on the side I liked the birria con consome and the pescado tacos.

I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the food. I went two nights in a row. Both nights, different items orders, none were that good. Everything was incredibly bland, no spice, no salt, even the rice and beans were very bland. Took quite some time to even get drinks. One of the people in my party went to grab a waiter so we can just order some drinks. Appetizer was missed too. Our server was great and funny, but did not make up for the foods or the leaking ceiling in the bathroom that probably should of had them closed. I enjoy many different ethnic foods b cause if they varying tastes, and cooking styles, and this just left me incredibly disappointed. I will not be going back here.

Got great food from here numerous times. Two nights ago ordered on Seamless. The food was an hour late when I called. No one answered the phone. So strange. Used the Help Button on Seamless (do this rather than talk to someone. It's faster and no attitude). I gave my address and phone number and got a quick refund plus a $10 coupon on my next order. I would try Tacuba again cause the food is good, and they will make guacamole without onions, as my husband requests. Mercury retrograde?

What a great restaurant. The food is very good, the service is friendly and attentive. If you're there at the right time, you'll also be entertained by a great Mariachi band. Definitely get the Nachos as a starter. It's not too heavy and sharable for up to 4 people. The carnitas tacos were good. The pork is very moist and tasty. It was a good all-around experience.

I was in the mood for some tacos and margaritas so I came to this spot. We were seated pretty quickly, the decor of the place is really nice with different color lights and with a full bar. We ordered guacamole and chips as an appetizer and frozen passion fruit margarita. The guacamole lacked a bit of flavor and spice even tho I did order it mild. The margaritas were delicious! Perfect balance of tequila and passion fruit. We also ordered carnitas tacos as well as chorizo and octopus tacos. The carnitas was delicious, had great flavor and spice level; there come 3 in an order which was a perfect amount. The chorizo and octopus tacos were the star of the night. The combination of octopus and chorizo was such a nice contrast and were very tasty. Will be returning to try their other dishes or for some other margarita flavors.

The portions are so small for what they charge. A kids meal should not be bigger than an adults steak platter! 0.0 F this place

Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious. Drinks are SUPER strong. They have nuts, dairy and gluten labeled on the menu (helpful for gluten sensitivities/celiac). Love the outdoor seating area.

Delicious! We had the Quesadilla pollo, Tacos de pollo, and Salmon a La Talla. All tasty. I really liked the sizes of the portion too. With the quesadilla as appetizer, I was afraid the salmon was going to be too much. The serving portion were on point. I ordered my salmon medium and it was perfectly cooked perfectly. I also really liked the brightness of the carrots and jicama to balance out the fish. The space is really nice, too. Lots of space. The staff was very friendly. I asked the host to charge my phone and she was very accommodating. I also had the tamarind water and that was really refreshing too. Like a nice lemonade but with tamarind. Just what I needed after a long day of walking. I highly recommend this place.

Margarita was meh. I tried 2margaritas passion fruit and a classic, not a fan. Passion fruit looked and tasted like orange juice w/ tequila but I didn't bother reordering . Also ordered the Steak Nachos but it lacked flavor. Service was great. The greeter to the servers and busboys were all great, Friendly and attentive. I sat outside because it was quieter. There is music playing outside too. Inside gave a lil cafeteria vibe w/extremely loud ppl. I got here pretty late so give it another try, during the day.

Whenever I want a guaranteed great fish taco trio I come here. They have seafood, Mexican food and great drinks! Love this place been coming for years now. They get very busy on nights and weekends with great weather. The staff is always very nice and attentive. I love their Elotes appetizer. All their tacos are delicious. Also their nachos are great for a snack with friends and a few drinks. The place looks amazing inside and out. Love the decor on the ceiling inside!!

Great food, great ambiance, great service! I went to Tacuba for a quick meal before a movie at MOMI right across the street. The location is huge with indoor seating (multiple rooms), an outdoor covered patio, and uncovered patio. This would be a great place for lunch, day drinks, or a dinner with friends. Inside was really beautiful and fun, interesting architecture and great decor. I was seated quickly and ordered. The waitress was very nice and helpful when i said i would be in a rush. The food came out quickly. I ordered the fish tacos which were the perfect lunch. Soft warm corn tortillas, light crispy fish, and a bright crisp cabbage slaw on top. Not greasy or overly salty, a perfect bite. Would love to come back and try their drinks/other tacos

Food is great. We went for father's day celebrations and the music at 4 pm on a Sunday was blasting so loud like a club that we couldnt talk at all. Nor hear the service staff. A balance is achievable if they want to include families during the afternoon especially on special occasions. We asked them lower it a bit and they refused. If you are in a party mood sans talking then its a great spot.

Nicely lit ambiance. Great music playing in the background. Wasn't too crowded. Came on a Wednesday night around 8pm. Our server was sweet and attentive until we got our food, she didn't bother to come check on us. But it's all good food was delicious. Fajita was super hot that's why the pictures are steamy. I had the chicken enchiladas that was beautifully displayed on a plate that looked a little ancient but it was good. Presentation is everything. I felt like the dish should've come with rice or something cause I was still hungry afterwards. Bill came and I was pleasantly surprised. Not at all pricey. I'd love to come back and try some more things off the menu!

If you're looking for a fantastic place to have amazing food and great dessert don't go any further than Tacuba. This is one of these places that no matter when you go your food is always going to be delicious. Often times you'll go to a local place and depending on who the cook is the food will not be the same. This is not the case. The waiter Tino, is beyond kind and funny. Any changes you ask to a item on the menu they will do their best to honor. Every time I go my order is always the same. Nachos with Carne Asada Guacamole with chips Carnitas tacos (with a side of sour cream) Maduros and their brussels sprouts. Always absolutely delicious.

Came here with some friends and my daughter. The restaurant is very spacious as it was able to accommodate my stroller. We ordered the guac and chips and rice and beans to share. I had the shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious. The tacos were pretty tiny but delicious. I'd come back to try some other things on the menu.

My boyfriend and some friends decided to stop by at the last minute. The spot turned out to be okay! The cozy booths added to the charm. The staff, especially during Pride Month, was friendly and really made us feel welcome! They even handed out LGBTQ shirts, which I found so heartwarming. Once we settled in, we placed our orders! I went for the burrito. Honestly, this is where 3 stars come from... The burrito fell a bit short of my expectation... It lacked flavor, almost as if I was just having the tortilla. However, their mimosas were delightful, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, a decent visit! I might swing by again soon and let you all know how it goes.

LOVE this place! The drinks are well made and so tasty. The food is AMAZING and the portions are perfect. The servers are friendly and they are always available. The restaurant itself is well decorated- festive and lively.

It's always nice to just go to a place, sit, eat, drink and be merry! We came here earlier this week and had the most amazing time. This is our second time here and always enjoy the atmosphere, drinks and especially the food. We started off with "la venenosa" and "grand Cadillac" with our appetizers; the guacamole and the nachos tacuba with carne asada. Boy, were those drinks and nachos on point. We didn't need to get entrees and instead were able to order another round of drinks; la piña para La Niña and mezcalita de piña. They deserve this 5 star rating as they were always very attentive while we were there, the food and drinks were amazing and worth the $$ paid. Until next year Tacuba! We will be back in 2022.

Came on a lovely Saturday on their pulse d and I can tell you it was completely work it. Bottomless brunch with sangria that was great, both had burritos steak and birria were amazing and the steak buirrito came with fries. Very well cooked and plenty to fill you up. Service was amazing as well with an attentive server. We definitely will come back!

Came here for a late lunch with some friends the other day. I have been here in the past for drinks. So I was excited to try out their food. There was no wait and we didn't have trouble finding parking, which is usually an issue in this area. We ordered a pitcher of frozen lime margaritas. Which was $55. It was smooth but hit you hard. We also got a spicy rim for our cups. They gave us plastic, I guess because of COVID. The wait staff seemed pretty pushy on us ordering other things which I didn't like. Also I didn't like the fact that your meal doesn't come with rice and beans or anything. You need to order that extra. I had ordered the carne asada tacos, which were okay but nothing to brag about.

This is a staple for to for my girls and I. We love Mexican restaurants because it provides something for ALL types of foodies. We have girls in the group with different food preferences. Food: i was not content with my meal. I only ate one of the tacos. The meat was too touch making a difficult to bite through the actual taco. It was more annoying than it was worth also super greasy aside from the sauce it comes with on the side (birria taco). Other times I've been I've enjoyed the food. Plantains always yum! The drinks on the other hand were great!! We had many many many drinks. Tried all the margarita flavors maybe some shots too. Price: we racked up a pretty hefty tab but we were there ordering many drinks for 6 hrs so I'm sure it makes sense when you consider the time and drink amount. Good value. Service: our server was amazing. Extremely friendly. Kept the drinks coming when he saw we were low and remembered our preferences. Ambiance: the place looks a little run down bow after COVID. I think they tried to move things around for 6ft seating. It needs a little bit of TLC OVERALL this will probably remain a go-to for my group when we get together.

Had lunch here with the family after visiting the museum of the moving image across the street . Great authentic Mexican food and drinks . Great guacamole and the servers were so nice and helpful. Place had an awesome vibe and decor . Will def come again . Thanks guys !!

This place has a nice vibe and the staff is very nice. But the food is just OK. We had the empanadas which weren't great, and I had the fajitas which also weren't great. I'm not sure exactly what was off. I get the sense that perhaps the oil they use is very cheap. I'm not sure exactly what it is. My husband had the enchiladas de pollo, which were pretty tasty. It's likely that everything would taste much better if we were drinking, and that most people come here more for the drinks than the food.

This is one of my favorite places in Astoria for Mexican cuisine. One of the few places I would say you can pick anything in the menu and its guarantee to be excellent in taste. The Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Prices are reasonable. parking in the area is easy. Simply a great place to come enjoy a great meal.

Absolutely love this place. The bartenders are super friendly, the food is great, and the ambience is definitely nice and lively. They play really good music and have really good frozen margaritas. Would I recommend? Absolutely. 10/10 without question! :)

Pretty spacious and nice place! Service was great. They do have pitcher options for their margaritas which isn't on their menu. $60 for about 7-8 margaritas which is a better deal than getting them individually. I thought they were pretty strong. The food was fantastic! Chips and salsa were good, the salsa was delicious. The chicken fajitas were also so filling and so hot when they came out. It came out in a timely manner too, I was surprised it wasn't more packed but it was a Monday evening. Would come back!

I have been to this location several times and have always had a good time until today. The food was fine but on this particular day I was having a very personal talk with my brother at the table and was rudely interrupted more than once by the server right in the middle of hard moments of the conversation. The server knew and even acknowledged that she knew it was a bad time to approach the table yet continued to do so repeatedly without any explanation I work in the industry and this is really unacceptable and inconsiderate to interrupt people when you can tell they are having an emotional talk just because your shift may be ending. We were not even finished eating. If I return and have the same server again I will surely ask for a different one. If it weren't for the food being good on previous occasions I would have given 0 stars

The food was tasty, but the portion size was not justified by the pricing. Though it was tasty the Birria tacos were appetizer portions with no real authentic flavor. The service was good, the waiters were attentive. The ambiance was nice, the only issue was the food and the price they charge. The food cart around the corner does better, should have went there.

Came here on cinco de mayo. Great vibe, quick service given the amount of people there, drinks were strong, and the food hit the spot. We got the mezcal margarita, red sangria pitcher (not on menu but we asked for it), guac and chips (the guac had a kick which we liked), birria tacos (yum), and the fish tacos (even more yum). Only rating 4 stars because I've had better Mexican elsewhere but would definitely come back as this place is great for groups and has a fun party vibe.

Four instead of five stars for the following reasons: wait for drinks and food orders was a bit long. We were seated immediately, and yes, it was a busy Sunday evening.. but we waited over 15 minutes just to place our drink order. The mango margarita was delicious. Second reason for 4/5 stars was the food - the birria tacos were yummy but my sisters order was incorrect! She ordered the shrimp tacos, but fish tacos were delivered. We kept them and she enjoyed them, but nevertheless, not what she ordered. Finally, we ordered a dessert that never came. After waiting about 20 minutes, we finally asked for the check. The dessert was not charged, thankfully. Positives: every Sunday evening, there is a Mexican youth mariachi band that plays live from 6-8pm. Very festive, albeit a bit loud. Prices reasonable. Will certainly be back to try again in the future!

Visited for the first time after receiving a recommendation. Highlight of my meal was the salsa and chips they give you to start. Phenomenal salsa! A little creamy with a red pepper flavor. It's house made I believe, otherwise I would find It and keep a bottle of It in my purse at all times. I ordered the Birria Tacos. They were solid. The meat was tender and the consommé was flavorful. I give them an 8/10. Now, mind you, my standard for these are high since I'm from LA, so keep that in mind! Overall the service and ambiance were great. Our server Ara was beyond helpful and lovey. I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes!

I absolutely had an amazing time here! I've come about 3-4 times pre pandemic and finally came post pandemic & I need to come here more often. The server was such a sweetheart, I wish I remembered her name. She was patient kind explained things off the menu and was very attentive, she also made recommendations based on our questions I ordered Chicken Mole and it was amazing!! Everything on the dish goes so well together and it was so flavorful My friend ordered the salmon and she loved it! She's a pescatarian so she was extremely happy with this dish because it was packed with flavor Definitely recommend and will deff be back!!

Admittedly we hadn't intended to eat at this restaurant but ended up thankful for the happenstance that landed us here. Craving fish and chips we came looking for The Fish Shack. Their door was locked and we ended up at Tacuba Cantina Mexicana which appeared to be connected. We later learned they are sister restaurants and The Fish Shack had relocated. The staff was warm and welcoming and encouraged us to stay. We chose to stay and satiate our craving with a modified fish and chips , ordering the fish tacos and fries. The fish tacos ended up being heavenly. The corn tortillas were homemade. The fish was fried to perfection and light and airy in a way I didn't even think fried fish could be. The veggies were fresh and the sauce complimented the fish perfectly. The fries were hand cut and played nicely. Service was good for a late Saturday afternoon. Prices seemed on par with New York.
