Review: Tacuba Cantina Mexicana – Great Food & Atmosphere, Let Down by Cashier (Visited on 12 July)
I had an early dinner at Tacuba Cantina Mexicana on 12 July, and I was genuinely impressed by the vibrant décor and flavorful food. The restaurant was decked out with festive papel picado, warm string lights, and Día de los Muertos-themed decorations, creating an inviting and culturally rich atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger and soak in the energy.
I ordered the Carnitas (Platos Fuertes)—the pork was tender, juicy, and perfectly spiced, served with crispy chicharrón and a rich sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The cocktail I had was also a highlight: tropical, tangy, and served with a chili-lime rim and fresh garnishes. Everything was plated nicely and tasted just as good.
However, I did experience a downside. The cashier working the early dinner shift that day had an unfriendly, dismissive attitude. When I politely approached her with a simple question about my bill, she responded coldly, which dampened what was otherwise a pleasant meal. Good service should extend from floor staff all the way to the front counter, and unfortunately, this part fell short.
In summary:
✅ Ambience: Colorful, lively, and authentic
✅ Food & Drinks: Delicious, well-presented, and worth the price
❌ Service: Excellent on the floor, but cashier’s attitude needs improvement
I’d still recommend Tacuba for the overall experience—just hope to see more consistency in customer service next time.
