We recently visited Taipei Cuisine in Quincy, MA, looking for authentic Taiwanese-style Chinese food, and it did not disappoint. Traveling from Houston, we were excited to find a spot that felt authentic without being intimidating.
Atmosphere & First Impressions:
The decor is traditional and the seating is cozy, giving the restaurant a warm, inviting feel. When we sat down, we were served Oolong tea, which was a lovely surprise — warm, unsweetened, and flavorful, the kind of tea that doesn’t even need sugar.
Service:
The service was fast and attentive. Our server made us feel comfortable, and the menu included English descriptions, which was super helpful for navigating dishes we might not be familiar with. Without them, we might have felt a bit overwhelmed or out of place.
Food:
We ordered:
Scallion pancakes – classic and exactly what you expect: crispy outside, flavorful inside.
Beef skewers – perfectly seasoned and cooked.
Beef chow foon – looked just like the picture and tasted just as great; noodles were cooked perfectly.
Pork soup dumplings – warm, juicy, and delicious. My husband rated these a 10/10.
Salt and pepper chicken – hot, crisp, and flavorful.
We were so excited to eat that I forgot to take pictures of the entrees. I only managed to take pictures of the tea, dumplings, and scallion pancakes, and even then, only halfway through!
Portions were generous, perfect for family-style dining. Everything came out hot and well-prepared, showing attention to detail and quality.
Value & Convenience:
For $54 for two people, we left completely full, making this a very reasonable option for authentic Taiwanese cuisine. It’s also a fantastic choice for Chinese food without venturing into downtown Boston and dealing with traffic.
Overall:
Taipei Cuisine delivers a solid Taiwanese experience — flavorful food, warm tea, quick service, generous portions, cozy seating, and a menu that’s easy to navigate for non-locals. We’d definitely return for another meal and recommend it to anyone craving authentic Taiwanese dishes in the Quincy area.
