As someone who eats at high end restaurants all the time, I (and my entire family) were very disappointed with TakaHisa. The food was just OK, the service awful and the prices outrageous, even by Dubai standards. The restaurant ambiance is nothing special at all, just a simple setting - not at all consistent with the ridiculous prices that they charge. For example, a 12-piece nigiri sampler (which was OK, but far from stellar) is 980 AED, which is about USD 266 -- that is more than $22 per piece for fairly mediocre sushi. And this was one the cheaper items on their menu, so I really struggle to understand their insane prices, especially in light of the quality and presentation (poor) of the food. Service was also terrible. Getting our server's attention was near impossible. About 10 of them would congregate near the door and just talk, so they never really checked in on us to see if we needed more drinks, were ready to dessert or something else. With 3 glasses of wine and 1 cocktail, with ordering the most reasonably priced items on the menu, our bill for a family of 4 (with 2 kids) was over $1500 ... and we did not enjoy any of the experience, given the mediocre food and bad service in a very basic setting. I will never return to TakaHisa nor would ever recommend it to anyone.
