The Cocktail Heatmap: Where to Drink Right Now in Portland

"The bartenders at this spot from Gabbiano’s co-owners David Sigal, Blake Foster, and Heather Wallberg promise “the dirtiest martini in town,” which they’re certainly able to deliver on. Choose from a dry martini featuring olive oil-washed gin or vodka; step it up a notch with the dirty, which includes Italian-spiced olive brine and a pimento olive; or go all out with the grimy, an umami bomb packing an anchovy-and-parmesan-infused olive brine, anchovy, and a blue cheese olive. Fans of Gabbiano’s fun mozzarella stick shots will be similarly delighted by the jalapeno popper arancini, a smart mashup of the two appetizers. Slushie aficionados will be pleasantly surprised with Take Two’s plays on a strawberry margarita and a pina colada, with the former getting a hit of acidity from balsamic vinegar and the latter zhushed up with sesame and chocolate." - Rebecca Roland, Janey Wong, Eater Staff

Fred and I were told to come here by a friend and this place did not disappoint! The vibe was relaxed and quiet. A couple play games at the bar while enjoying their drinks and chips and dip! Fred and I did their drinks ( old fashioned, and what they call the greenday) and the burgers and fries ! Their in house made ranch stole the show! Not to mention this bartender, he had such passion for each drink he made. Fred and bartender became fast friends. Highly recommended 10/10

Take Two! Now THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Amazing cocktails, beyond cool atmosphere and locals come here to mingle and have a good time. Come see Joel, he will whip out one of the BEST cocktails you will EVER have. Talk about #STARTENDER

I love the staff, love the vibe, however I don't love the glass switching for the slushies on Tuesday nights. In photos every other day of the week they are the typical tall glasses (around 12 oz) , and on Tuesday evenings they're back to the short glasses (8 oz). Again, I love the staff here they're amazing but it seems like a poor call from management. I really wanted to support bingo but its hard to when it seems like we're being taken advantage of.

Second time here so I thought it’d be fitting to write a review for Take Two. 👀 The atmosphere is so warm and cozy and this place has the comfiest barstools I have sat in so far in Portland. The Take II Burger was fantastic, but mostly for the quality of meat and the way it was cooked!! You can tell the meat is fresh and it had a slight pink to it which I love (if you want well done make sure you specify). Waffle Fries with the side of garlic Aioli was great too, however I wish they had some cajun seasoning too as an option.. Bartender was super friendly and my Rum Sour was excellent! Later he made me a Whisky Sour which was fabulous as well. So glad to have this addition to the neighborhood!

Take Two has a really nice vibe. The atmosphere is nice and calming. Love the red paint, the lights and the light up bar are really nice. Take two has the same owners as the ramen joint, and it has the same attitude. A bit overpriced. It feels like they want to be a fancy cocktail bar with some food. Yeah, sure, get a nice fancy drink and then an ok piece of food on paper plates. It's not fancy at all. The waffle fries are a short cut, the chicken sandwich was overcooked and was so messy I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The burgers were ok, unless you want a veggy patty, then they add a cost. To me, that sucks since those patties are cheaper than beef. It's too expensive not to come with complimentary fries. There is no table service, so you must wait at the busy counter for everything. We tried it, same as we did for their last business, and again, we probably won't go back until they open a new business.

This was my first time here. I came just to eat their Italian Meatball Chopped Cheese sandwich which is part of Portland Sandwich Week 2025. Great sandwich for $10, but the employees visibly appeared annoyed because I only ordered the sandwich and a water. That was a bit off putting.

Love this place! 10/10 no notes. The staff is lovely. The bartenders were great with questions and splitting my groups tabs. We spoke with the chef when he brought out our food and he was great. Drinks- both cocktails and mocktails were great. The sour cherry lemonade was the favorite. I don't even like cherry and thought it was great. Food- huge waffle fries with great sauces. Chicken sandwiches and burgers. It is bar food, made right, with a little flair. Vibes- great place to hang out and it is open late. Celiac and gluten free folks- the fryer is gluten free- you can have the fries, friend chicken (sub bun), aranchini, wings, and more.

Yelp
Our family of six was looking for a place to eat after enjoying the Cirque du Soleil. Our first restaurant choice doesn't take reservations and the wait time for a table was 90 minutes. That's the 2nd time that happened to us. No thanks. We walked on to the next nearest restaurant and discovered that it was packed also - no surprise as it was a pleasant Sunday evening. So we settled for the Take Two cocktail bar on the corner. Our six year old grandson was with us, so we had to finish eating by 8pm - the latest he was allowed to be inside. No problem as the service was prompt. The next thing to say is that hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger and raved that it was one of the best burgers that he has ever had. And that's saying a lot since he's 73 years old and remembers 19 cent hamburgers! It's hard to describe the burger, but the bun is soft and even with the fillings, it practically melts in your mouth. I guess you'll just have to try it first yourself to see what it's like. Our group also had an Old Fashioned drink and ...... and fries with dipping sauce, one of the best! Calzone with artichokes. There were no leftovers. The price tag: reasonable. The family also enjoyed the Photo Booth! We'll bring the family there again!

Yelp
Went here while waiting for a table at Gabbiano's and honestly I enjoyed the bar more than the restaraunt. They are by the same owner and both have amazing decoration and lots to look at. My husband loved his cocktail and I got the sour cherry lemonade which was yummy. I wish they had a few more NA options but otherwise it's a cool spot and would go back

Yelp
I was here for Mercury's Weiner week, skyline chili dog here. I got here on Sunday between 3 & 4 and there was some space at the bar. Very nice inside. Service was very slow. He did warn me he had others before me, and after awhile I asked about the bathroom, and when I got back he was just starting with the first group. The second group couldn't decided on anything. I wanted to say I know what want, just a beer and the dog. Nice place, I forget the dog except it wasn't nearly as good as the one I had at Sweet Home. I think the beer was good a bit foggy now. If I lived near by might try again.

Yelp
We chilled at this new bar prior to our scheduled reservation time at a nearby restaurant. It was about 7:30pm on a Friday night when we arrived, and we found a couple of open stools by the bar. Looks like it's open seating, but if you're at a table, you'll need to order drinks from the bar. Here's a little bit about Take Two: × Location & Parking × At a fairly busy NE Killingsworth St, you'll need to find street parking around the neighborhood. × Drinks & Snacks & Service × Our bartender Joel made some fancy creations! I tried the Rum Sour ($13), while my friends had a similar Montelobos Sour ($14), and a large order of Waffle Fries ($8). Both drinks were simply relaxing! Not too sweet and not too bitter, and not overly sour. The waffle fries were nice and crunchy as well. As for staff, they seemed pretty friendly and busy wiping down the bar area and cleaning tables. Most of our interactions were with bartender Joel. He seemed like a really cool dude (when I can hear him lol). It can get fairly loud in here. Joel answered a question of ours, and we found out that this bar has only been open for 2 1/2 weeks. How ironic! Take Two, two weeks old! × In Closing × Take Two is a fresh addition to the neighborhood. Apparently, a lot of their patrons are folks that are waiting for a dinner reservation; Understandable, as there are a few eateries in the area. Regardless, this bar was still a cool place to grab a quick drink. I'll definitely do a second take on this bar again next time!

Yelp
Drinks? Absolutely Food? Hmmm..... Toy shop Ramen....take two! They did a good job capturing the charm of toy shop (chill vibes, delish cocktails). I'd definitely go back. Food was decent....not the best, in a jam....not the worst. Arancini sounds delish but not sure jalapeño popper is my jam with Arancini (just one of many examples) That doesn't mean they aren't good. The chicken sando was on point!!!! Either way....verdict is: yes, I will have a sequel here. Drinks, maybe sans food.

Yelp
The gluten free salt and vinegar chicken wings are so good! We went with a group of friends on a Tuesday night after the Film Series at Kennedy School McMenamins. I love that the kitchen stays open until midnight. After a couple of cosmic cosmos made by the friendly bartender Dennis, the free photo booth was a big hit!

Yelp
We were here on a whim, waiting for our reservation at Dame. The unique, professional and whimsical nature of Take Two won us over, and my only complaint is it took us so long to discover them. Pro staff, thoughtful tunes, really fun food & drinks, this bar is a must visit and one we wish was in our neighborhood. Only note, get swag, I'd wear it to spread the word. Great place!

Yelp
Stop by for the first time for an After dinner drink. We ordered an Old fashion that was poured out of a tap and garnished with a slice of orange. It was incredibly sweet and you couldn't taste the bourbon. Big disappointment and as much as I wanted to like this place, I will not return.

Yelp
Hands down the best martini in Portland & possibly the best martini I have ever had! I cannot wait to come back & try their food. Overall a solid addition to the Portland bar scene

Yelp

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE if you're BIPOC. If you're white you'll be fine. Sat at the bar and waited 10min for the bartender to take my order when she was very attentive to all of the white customers (gee I wonder why this was since I'm a person of color??). The service is inconsistent and they play favorites since the guy bartender also ignored me but paid attention to the girl next to me bringing her multiple free drinks. Waited 20min for my appetizer and when I wanted to check in on it I waved down the guy bartender he ignored me and started talking about me to the other bartender (very obvious: they're both pointing at me and whispering about me while looking straight at me) then proceeded to ignore me for another 10min. "Magically" as I finally asked about my food she went to get it immediately; if I didn't ask it would've taken longer. Service blows and food & drinks are mediocre not making up for this experience; do not come here. Then again if you're white you'll be fine they were getting excellent service from what I saw!
