"A new location not far from the previous one, still in the city centre. The venue is cosy and contemporary, with a simple style; at the back is the classic counter with stools. The cuisine remains unchanged: Japanese, between classical references and modern interpretations, with a predilection for Nikkei cuisine, which blends Japanese and Peruvian flavours. The bar offers original cocktails and signature drinks." - Michelin Inspector

Gourmet Zagreb – the best addresses in the MICHELIN Guide Croatia

"Situated just a stone’s throw from the National Theatre and the University, this restaurant with its gold and black interior decor serves an array of copious dishes prepared in various ways (wok, teriyaki, tempura, sushi and sashimi) and accompanied by a choice of cocktails." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Very good service and atmosphere. Wide selection of sushi also has few different options instead sushi. I’d tried sushi plate. It was delicious and fish was fresh.

Excellent food. The staff is super courteous and very helpful. The food quality was really good and fresh. The taste was just amazing. The food in Zagreb is much better than the other cities as there is a lot of variety. The restaurant is very clean and not that expensive. It looks fancy but I believe it is value for money for the service and food it offers. I loved the Salmon, the meat was so tender and fresh. The flavours were just right. They accept cards as well. I hear the desserts are also excellent but I haven’t tried them personally. The gyoza was juicy. It also has veg options for vegetarians. Overall we had a great lunch.

Takenoko has been known for years as a great sushi restaurant in Zagreb. We spent our anniversary there and although the food was good I was not that impressed. The service was not on the level that I expected it to be, on the bill I saw that we got the wrong wine, and just the overall experience was not excellent. I think at this price point it should be better, especially the service.

They must have changed their Chef and fish supplier, because they got better! I must admit, that I stopped visiting this restaurant a year ago since I became bored with their menu... Finally, they have added a few more dishes and all of those new dishes are fabulous. Now, I am looking forward to go for lunch or dinner again soon!

All good here…location, ambiance, music ( upbeat but in the background). , clean, modern, chic. Food was authentic, as fresh as is possible, and delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Near everything you want to do in Zagreb that is fun! Enjoy this place!

A year ago, this locale was excellent. Last week, for a 115€ and a very generous tip, I expected better. Our waiter was good and prompt. The food has declined in quality. Cold starters - there is nothing more disappointing than lukewarm gyōza. How long had it been sitting? The yuzu cocktail is a pale imitation of what it was. Clearly, they lost replaced, or didn't feel like paying for, their excellent bartender and chef. It's a shame. ----- As far as food, drink, and service goes, it's simply the best Asian fusion I've had in Croatia so far. Our server was polished, polite, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Easily offered suggestions, and was clearly knowledgeable with all food related Japanese terminology. Cheers to the bartender, their excellent yuzu gimlet was a refreshing, creative delight. The gyoza, and I hesitate to use so bold a word, were perfect. I can still recall the crunch, followed by the perfect chew of steamed dough and filling. The spring roll, excellent. I enviously eyed a neighboring tables tempura shrimp and vegetables. Something to come back for. Each piece of sushi was excellent. Carefully crafted, beautifully presented, and a treat to savor. The tuna is of notable quality. Desert, a recent addition to the menu, was playfully delicious. To be fair, there were a few technical issues which weren't agregious, however should be mentioned. The cutlery needs a closer eye, as does the general table settings. I did notice the restaurant does allow babies, but to be fair, the tourists behind us were far louder. Technicalities aside, I found the food, drink, and service to be excellent.

Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Croatia. Their tempura and ever changing menu are amazing and delicious. Feel of luxury, minimalism and all placed in the heart of Zagreb historical.

Having read the reviews I hoped for more. The sushi rolls were average, wouldn't go back for them. There was a stain on the sake jar, menus were also stained. The interior is nice at first glance, but if you look closer, it's made quite cheaply. The waiter was nice and polite. The set of three rolls in the picture + a bottle of water + 0.18ml of sake costed 300 kunas (€40).
