"There's a new takoyaki spot called Tanota debuting tonight in Little Tokyo. The place at 350 E. 1st Street has been doing limited hours for a few days now, turning out fresh takoyaki and other Japanese favorites, but is now ready to go full-time as of today." - Farley Elliott

Delicious Takoyaki to-go. Stop by if you want a d snack rather than a full meal. We ordered the Jalapeno one, and the P.T. -Parmesan and Truffle. The Parmesan and Truffle one was the best. Order came out a little slow but we had nothing but time on our hands. Would eat again if I were looking for a snack

Must have when you are visiting the Japanese Village Plaza. Be patient bc the takoyaki is hot! There are 5 seats at the high table. Staff are amazing, bathrooms were clean.

Takoyaki is one of my favorite Japanese foods. They are round semi gooey balls of dough stuffed with bits of octopus. Octopus in Japanese is tako. The basic takoyaki are topped with okonomiyaki sauce, mayo and bonito flakes. I had the yuzu takoyaki. Very delicious. There are quite a few other toppings for the takoyaki. Service is great and you can watch them make the takoyaki which is an art form. Meter parking and parking in nearby structures.

First time visiting Little Tokoyo in Los Angeles and of course had to try takoyaki. There's not much to say, except they're delicious! The Octopus was very tender and not overcooked (sometimes, I find it chewy and usually that means it's overcooked.) My fiancé definitely burnt his tongue on first bite so make sure to maybe open a pocket to let the steam out before biting into it like a timbit/donut hole. The take out window was so cute! And service was so fast. Cute experience and definitely would go again if I'm in the area. Btw we ordered the ponzu Takoyaki, so the ponzu sauce was on the side and we dipped the Takoyaki into it. Delicious! Love ponzu sauce.

My husband and I recently tried the takoyaki at this restaurant in Little Tokyo. After a 20-minute wait, the takoyaki looked fine, but the inside was soggy and appeared undercooked. A few hours later, we both experienced severe food poisoning and were violently ill. After reading other reviews, it seems we've had a similar experience to others, which is concerning. Food safety should be a priority, and we hope the restaurant takes steps to address this issue. It was a very debilitating experience for us, and it could be dangerous for others.

I loved how they dedicated their food.

Google
Service was okay, it was busy so they did what they could. The food was ok, the noodles could have been more soft and more thick. These noodles are thin. The spicy noodles were a level one and were still spicy to me beware of that.

I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT; GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Last night, I dined at a restaurant that left a lot to be desired. I would give the flavor a mere 2 out of 10. Having experienced authentic Japanese cuisine, I can honestly say the food quality here is nowhere close. Unfortunately, both my mom and I ended up suffering from food poisoning afterward. It was evident that the ingredients were of poor quality, and during my visit to the restroom, I noticed that proper health and hygiene practices were clearly not being followed in their kitchen. 👎

Yelp
Very soggy, not crispy outside at all Went here a couple times, and every time, the takoyaki is soggy even though we eat it immediately. The toppings taste good, but the actual takoyaki aren't.

Yelp
We ordered to-go from a small window of to the side. It was pretty quick wait and we were able to grab our order and walk around as we intended to do. We ordered the half&half with Ponzu and Mentaiko. Both were great! Ponzu- citrus soy sauce kept it light, green onions added some freshness to the takoyaki. Sauce and green onion paired well together. Mentaiko- perfect for sauce lovers, spicy caviar sauce was very creamy. Seaweed and green onion added some texture back in from the heavy sauce.

Yelp
Walk up to the window and self-order on the IPad. You have the option to pay by card or cash. Keep your printed receipt and they will call out your number on the receipt: pick up your order inside the restaurant; if you pay by cash it's also done inside the restaurant. After a four year hiatus, I thought why not give Tanota Takoyaki another try; so glad I did. This time around the batter was better prepared and cooked. They are pipping hot off the grill so just be careful as you bite into them.

Yelp
When you are in Little Tokyo, how could you not get some takoyaki to complete the experience? We should have joined the waitlist as we walk past Chinchikurin. When we returned and joined the list, there are 4 tables ahead of us. Not too bad for a late lunch at 3pm on a Saturday. We have waited about 10 mins for the first available seating, we were seated at the bar. We ordered 24 takoyaki and a Goam. Both are tasty. The only downside is the temperature of the restaurant. It's HOT. I feel bad for the servers as you could tell they are all sweaty. Wish they were would blast the AC for their customers and workers.

Yelp
First time trying okonomiyaki and didn't disappoint. It was better with mayonnaise. 8/10. Service was pretty fast. Ambiance was ok. Kinda smoky instead. Ordered original Takoyaki and I wish the squid was a bit bigger. I do recommend this place.

Caitleen N.

Yelp
We really wanted to try the takoyaki when we saw it walking through Little Tokyo! We ordered the Original, Ponzu, Wasabi, and Crunchy Shoyu. My least favorite was the wasabi, but that's because I am not the hugest fan of wasabi. The Original was okay, nothing very notable about it. I liked the Ponzu because of how creamy it was and how it came with a lot of toppings. The Crunchy Shoyu was my favorite because of how much more harder/crunchier it was compared to the previous 3 and honestly how much more simpler it tasted compared to the other 3. The restaurant the takoyaki place is attached to is relatively big, and we sat outside, which wasn't too bad. Service was good, and we were able to get parking validated for 2 hours!

Yelp
This place is located inside Tokyo Town attached to a dine in restaurant. Self order using an ipad. We ordered the half & half parmesan truffle & ponzu. Think sliced of parmesan but no truffle oil. Both of them lacked of flavor. I'm not sure if the other flavors are better? I give these takoyaki 2 stars. I've had better takoyaki in San Diego. Overly priced for the quality because it's not good. Service is slow. Ambiance- it is a to go only, once you order you wait outside for your number to be called. I do not recommend and giving it another try in my opinion, not worth it. Tip: Takoyaki is extremely hot, I suggest you poke a hole with your chopsticks before consuming.

Yelp
I ate this twice recently when I visited. The crunchy shoyu is great! Delicious and crunchy, just what I wanted. Tokyo style crispy outside vs the Osaka texture which is softer. Loved that they added this option. Great fast service, because I asked for no green onions on top (allergic to raw onions, but cooked are fine) and they listened. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes max and picked up my food happily.

Hyeyeo L.

Yelp
Service need to improve!! I ordered Mentaiko takoyaki but they gave me Soyu even it is not fully cooked!!!!!!!!!

Jessica J.

Yelp
Really good and freshly made Takoyaki. It's octopus in each in a breaded ball. It's so delicious!! The flavor is savory and well balanced. ***Piping hot so be careful before biting into it*** I always get The Original flavor. $10.50 They have sit down and To-go. If you order Togo, there are some seats in Little Tokyo that you can eat outside. Inside the restaurant is very small.

Wendy T.

Yelp
Self ordering kiosk. Made fresh to order. You can watch them make it through the window. Just wait outside until they call your name/order for pick up. Able to choose a full serving of 8 or choose half and half if you can't decide. I got the original and mentaiko. The flavoring for the original takoyaki was enjoyable. Mentaiko was okay. The takoyaki didn't have the crispy layer that I enjoy. And the dough was on the thicker/heavier side. Maybe I got unlucky when I went but I wouldn't recommend. Update: Thank you to the owner for educating me. I was not aware of that your business served a different style of takoyaki. I also did not know I could request the style that I am used to with the crispy outer layer. However, I did not see that option in the self order tablet. I would be willing to give Tanota another try.

Adeline S.

Yelp
I love to To-Go booth. I love how I can order from a tablet and just wait for my order, i think it was super convenient, and I loved how I could watch my order being made through the window! I did not seat in, as I wanted to take to-go and eat in the comfort of my own home. I tried various types of takoyaki and all of them were delicious! I loved the Mentakio Takoyaki, I feel like it was just different. I really wish there was a more major difference between all the different flavors, as they all tasted similar aside from a sauce that they put on top, or a different topping was added. It was super busy, however they got our order right out in prime time - despite ordering the party pack!!

Kathy T.

Yelp
Wanted to try out their takoyaki so I ordered some to-go via the self-order kiosk. The order of original, half mentaiko and half goma was ready for pick up soon after. The goma had a great sesame aroma that was present but not overbearing. It was simple due to the lack of mayo or other additional sauces on top, so I would recommend this to those who prefer something a bit lighter. The mentaiko had a bit of a bolder flavor than the goma but again, nothing overbearing. The creamy mentaiko sauce was a nice savory, rich addition to the takoyaki. The original was adorned with the typical sauce, bonito, mayo and seaweed which all came together well. It tastes like what you'd imagine standard takoyaki to taste which is delicious! Overall the takoyaki here is nothing out of this world, I wish the outside was a bit crispier as they were a quite mushy despite eating them immediately after receiving the order. Furthermore, it'd be great if the octopus piece was larger or if there were more pieces in each Takoyaki. Nonetheless, they were worth a try especially the unique flavors that are offered! Rating: 3.5/5

Yelp
Takoyaki? Ramen? Steamed squid? A must go to when in Little Tokyo. Service was friendly and quick despite how busy they were. Staff was attentive and work quickly to get orders in and out to customers. Second time here and I am always choosing something different and have enjoyed every selection.

Giovanna D.

Yelp
The takoyaki at Tanota is amazing! It shares space with another restaurant in Little Tokyo and they also have a self-service walk up window to order at. When dining in we were seated at the bar and had an amazing view of them making the Takoyaki fresh to order. They have quite a few flavor options, and all of them are delicious! My personal favorite is the Parmesan Truffle. They load their takoyaki with toppings and you will be pleasantly satisfied. Highly recommend stopping by here for a quick bite to eat the next time you're in DTLA!

Gloria D.

Yelp
My first time here and it was very tasty! At first I was a bit confused because it's two separate restaurants in one location so in order to get the Japanese Fries, which I wanted to try, you have to sit at the bar because that's the restaurant that sells them. I ordered the half and half Takoyaki (half Original and half Ponzu). I was surprise because Im not much of a seafood eater and I was unsure about eating something with octopus inside and seaweed on top but both flavors were really tasty and not fishy at all. I ended up liking the original most although the sauce that comes with the Ponzu ones is also really good. I also loved the Japanese fries and the Houjicha Latte! The service was also friendly and quick. Highly recommend!

Hayden S.

Yelp
Really good Takoyaki! It was insanely hot and the flavors didn't carry that much, otherwise pretty good. The PT one was my favorite!

Jaylene K.

Yelp
perfect place to stop and grab a quick bite while you're in Little Tokyo! the service is prompt and we were seated quickly, although it was definitely a little confusing at first. we ended up realizing that the restaurant was home to two different businesses. it was a hot day and it was definitely still very warm inside. we ordered the original takoyaki and it came with plenty of toppings and sauce. loved how smooth the batter was! in the future, I might get it to go instead of sitting inside.

Tony Y.

Yelp
I think of this place often when i hear takoyaki. my favorite place to grab some. they always come out piping hot, so it's worth the burn eating them fresh. For about 11~12$ you get 8 pieces and a selected flavor. they got options for split flavors, which i typically do. Nice to have those options and the flavors are great.

Jennie B.

Yelp
Maybe it's because they were busy, but my takoyaki were not done well enough and were pretty floppy. It could be that they're supposed Osaka style, but even for Osaka style, they were floppier than what I remember getting them in Osaka. I got a half jalepeno - half ponzu. The ponzu was nothing special and I would not recommend. The jalepeno was something different, but if I came back I'd probably just stick to the original. Overall disappointed in the flavor for a place that specializes in takoyaki. Wait on a Wednesday: no line to order, it took ~15 minutes to get my order.

Connie L.

Yelp
Stopped by on a busy weekend afternoon to grab some snacks as we explored the area. They seem to share space with the Chinchikurin next door. You order at a kiosk at a window next to the entrance or you can sit at their bar. Service was relatively quick and friendly. I got a half order of mentaiko and a half order of ponzu. My friend really enjoyed the heavy roe flavor of the mentaiko and I felt the ponzu was a nice addition (some brightness and acidity to compliment the creamy mentaiko). They could have spent more time getting crispy before being pulled, in my opinion. Overall, not bad to satisfy my takoyaki craving. I think the only stand out is the location.

Sonia O.

Yelp
The octopus was very good quality! Seasoned & presentation was done beautifully. We ordered the original 4 piece & other friends tried it for the first time & the loved it. Service was helpful & kind staff

Lance T.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick bite while strolling around Little Tokyo, this place serves a very delicious takoyakis with variety of flavors to choose from. And if not sure which flavor to order, you can even go for half and half! I love that they do have a counter especially for take out only. Even tho there was a long que, my order was ready in no time. They also have a small bar and dining area if you feel like hanging around. I noticed plenty of staff but they have a pretty cramped area to work on :(

Jerry F.

Yelp
Yes, it was lunch. No, it wasn't too early to have a Sapporo. I was in the area after having served jury duty and wanted a quick bite to eat before I headed home. I walked a couple blocks from the courthouse and found this hidden gem. What looks like just a to-go window/takeout spot from the outside is actually a little dine-in restaurant in the corner of the room manned by two people, server and cook. Lucky for me, I was the only one seated at the time, therefore service was 10/10. I never knew what takoyaki was before stepping foot inside, and I'm kind of upset I've deprived myself of such good Asian comfort food for so long. The fried chicken was delicious to start, but it was the takoyaki themselves that stole the show. Who knew there could be so much flavor packed inside and around the little fried balls that they are. But be careful as they warn: they are served piping hot. Do yourself a favor and poke a hole/or tear open each ball and let the heat out from inside. You can thank me later. Takoyaki should be mentioned in the same breath as sushi, ramen, teriyaki and other Japanese dishes.

Edward Y.

Yelp
We ordered the half and half takoyaki option with half original and half ponzu. Unfortunately, they were very disappointing. They were made to order but the takoyaki were soggy. We ate them right after they came out so I don't understand how they were not crispy. I feel like I could have gotten crispier takoyako from a ramen shop instead.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Tanota Takoyaki in Little Tokyo, Downtown LA, is a delightful experience. The original Takoyaki was perfectly cooked, and the Wasabi variant, with its unique twist, added an exciting spice kick. Having tried Takoyaki in Osaka, Japan, I must say Tanota's version holds its own - a flavorful tribute to the authentic Japanese taste!

Brandon N.

Yelp
What we ordered: - Half original & half mentaiko takoyaki For our day of eating at Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles, we stopped by Tanota Takoyaki for a quick snack. Our favorite of the two was the original. The Tanota sauce and mayo created an enjoyable sweet and creamy combo. The mentaiko was not overpoweringly fishy, we wished sauce was a bit spicier. Let them cool off a bit by poking holes into them!

Nick C.

Yelp
This is a solid take-out takoyaki spot in Little Tokyo, though having come here over the past few years, I will say it is a bit inconsistent. Some days, the takoyaki is out of this world, but others it is just ok (could've cooked for a little longer / toppings hastily put on). I've felt that the quality tends to go down when the restaurant is particularly busy, which is a bit unfortunate too because the wait time is unpredictable after placing your order so sometimes you unexpectedly wait for 20-25 minutes to have lackluster takoyaki. I think Tanota is a classic "touristy" place to visit once, but if you're looking for a consistently good, quick bite I'd go elsewhere in the area.

Richard C.

Yelp
4.8 stars. I love takoyaki, I would consider it one of my top foods. This place only has takoyaki and it's mainly for togo orders. There is a small kiosk in front of their window where you can place your orders. The overall ordering process is pretty smooth and the food comes out in a relatively fast speed. There are a variety of flavors to choose from and you can choose up to 2 flavors for the 8 piece, 4 flavors for the 16 piece. My personal favorite is the original and my second favorite is the wasabi. The takoyaki comes out piping hot so be careful not to burn yourself when eating them. I personally have no self control and I would gladly burn the roof my mouth to eat these. I originally came and ordered 8 pieces but before I left, I had to come back to order another 8. The flavors I ordered were, ponzu, wasabi, and original. The price feels a little bit high, ~$11 for 8 pieces. Overall, if you like takoyaki, this is definitely a place to hit up.

Tashi M.

Yelp
Food was not bad I don't usually eat a lot of Japanese food! Service was really fast and quick and they are very polite!

Philip P.

Yelp
Desperate for a restroom, we dined-in and ordered some takoyaki out of obligation for using their restroom. Place was busy due to sharing the same space with Chinchikurin. The tables was quite large due to the grill being in the middle of the table for the okonomiyaki. Tables could be cleaner, but I might be just knit-picking a bit here. Place isn't very spacious, but there's a good amount of tables to get a seat at. We ordered the Mentaiko and the Wasabi takoyaki. We got 4 balls for each order. It oddly took pretty long for the orders to come out. Not too sure why it took so long, but when we did get our order, the takoyaki was still dough-y meaning it was under cooked. It was steaming hot which was great, but being under cooked was a bit of a let down. We waited for a pretty long while getting multiple refills on our tea as we waited. I understand it was busy, but it wasn't so busy to wait more than 20 minutes. That was kind of nuts in my opinion. Other than that, service was fine. They were nice, but never really acknowledge how long we had to wait really. Maybe that's just the norm for them? Crazy if it is the norm. We had such a small order too. I'll give the okonomiyaki a shot next time, but I think I'll pass on the takoyaki.

Sandy P.

Yelp
Every time I come to LA I always have to stop here for takoyaki cravings. Service is always amazing here. I've tried every single takoyaki flavor. You can't go wrong with any of them!

Drew R.

Yelp
It's such a cute restaurant in the heart of J-town LA. If you have a chance I do recommend getting a spot in front of the okonomiyaki station watching the chef cook and make the okonomiyaki. The service was a bit slow when we went. They said that they were backed up, but in reality I can see they were slightly understaff. Either way, it didn't delay us from eating. The takoyaki was great. It's super gooey on the inside. Different from what I was used to. I might have liked it if it was maybe cooked a bit more. Once the takoyaki cooled a bit, it was slightly more firm. The fried chicken was super yummy. It's fresh and crunchy. The grill squid wasn't anything special. It was yummy, but I wouldn't say it was super unique that you must get it. The chinchiruki yaki was yummy. It's filled with sliced beef and the noodles was crunchy just as we ordered it. I did had to add my own kewpie Mayo on mine, but it's delicious without it as well. If you want to try something new outside of the regular ramen/sushi typical Japanese food, this place is the place to go.

Kelley H.

Yelp
Solid spot for some takoyaki in Little Tokyo! We stopped by for a quick snack on a rainy day and it really satisfied the cravings. You can literally watch them make the takoyaki through the window so every batch comes out fresh to order and piping hot. We ordered the 4*4 to share with ponzu, wasabi, goma, and parmesan truffle. The flavors were all quite subtle but very good, with the exception of the parmesan truffle, which you can really taste the truffle flavor and would DEF recommend. This is more of a grab and go spot since it's technically just a window stall, but I believe you can sit at the bar inside the restaurant as well (seating is quite limited, we were unable to get a spot inside unfortunately). Will def be back whenever I'm craving some takoyaki!

R. S.

Yelp
Ordered to eat at the counter. Had the mentaiko and the crunchy shoyu with a friend. We loved both: the mentaiko had the perfect amount of spicy and creamy, while the crunchy shoyu just had a sweet but not overly sweet taste. The takoyaki itself was creamy and light without tasting overly fried. Molten at first so let them vent a little. We will definitely be back to try the others. One thing, the specials sounded great but we didn't know what was in the Dodgers inspired cocktail or latte. A description/ingredients would have been helpful because we didn't want to bug the busy staff.

Teddo C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for takoyaki! Great atmosphere for solo or with company. It's not too loud but at night it gets busy. The staff was really nice and helpfully quick with orders. They do take out orders as well if you are on the go. Table top, counter or patio seating are the options they have. I sat at the counter to watch them cook. I do however have a little gripe... the balls seem like they aren't cooked for as long as needed to maintain shape as they are mushy instead of more firm on the outside. I don't know if the kids cooking aren't leaving them on the grill long enough but Takoyaki in japan is suppose to have a firmer shell and nice gooey/fluffy inside. Not to say these aren't hot because they are. Maybe the grill should be hotter or left cooking just a bit longer. If this would be fixed I'd give 100% full rating.

Fiona N.

Yelp
I miss fresh takoyaki!!! This is the place I need to check out! They're not as good as Japan but I'll take it for now until I get to visit japan again. I ordered the original and Maitaiko(spelling). I would stick to the original next time. I believe they were $4.90 for 4 pieces.

Angelica L.

Yelp
We placed an order via the iPad on Monday evening and it took about 10-15 minutes for the takoyaki to be ready. We got the 4x4 order which allows you to choose 4 flavors, and you get 4 of each flavor (16 pieces total) for $20.50. I usually don't like takoyaki but these were good, probably because you don't taste the octopus. I also really like the taste of the batter they used. The takoyakis were however, a bit too soft, so they broke easily. We were standing in front watching the cook make the takoyaki the whole time so maybe he felt rushed and didn't let them cook long enough to get that nice crispy outer layer. Original: This was a good classic takoyaki but it tasted better when dipped in the sauce. Wasabi: This is my second favorite flavor. You get a nice kick from the wasabi. Mentaiko: This also wasn't bad but I'm not a huge fan of the spicy caviar sauce. Parmesan Truffle: You have to pay $1 extra for this flavor but it's worth it! You really taste both ingredients which provided so much umami. This is definitely my favorite one of the four.

Anthony D.

Yelp
I love me some hot and fresh Takoyaki where you eat them and they burn your whole mouth. The menu at Tanota is quite large with the variations of takoyaki you can get. They even let you do half and half for an extra fee, so we went with the original and ponzu flavors. The flavors themselves are really good where you get all these unique tastes with the octopus inside, Bonito flakes, mayo/ponzu on top. However the texture of these takoyaki were soggy and very wet. Usually they should have at least a little more body/structure to them, however these were way too soft where picking them up proved to be a challenge. If you've never had takoyaki then I think this place is decent, but texturally they really need to do a better job.

Kimberlie C.

Yelp
This hit the spot. Hot the half and half order, trying out their ponzu flavor. But original is best and the most flavorful, in my opinion! Pictured: Ponzu and Original Takoyaki

Cindy N.

Yelp
I saw reviews online about the takoyaki here and had it bookmarked based on the high reviews. It was a bit tricky to spot at first glance since its basically attached with the Okonomiyaki place and a small corner. The ordering process was done through the tablet outside and was easy to use. I got the combo with a lemonade drink and classic takoyaki. Takoyaki: I had to eat it a bit later so it was a bit colder by the time I had a chance to eat it. However, the takoyaki still tasted pretty good. Lots of flavour however, it was a bit softer than I usually like it. Strawberry Lemonade: Refreshing and tasted delicious. It didn't taste super artificial and was a good drink along with the takoyaki.

J K.

Yelp
Fresh takoyaki?! Say no less, I loooove takoyaki !! Always makes me feel like I'm back at Akihabara whenever I get Tanota. It's always so warm and fluffy, so delicious!

Amy Y.

Yelp
We walked around Little Tokyo and started to get hungry. My friends wanted me to choose a place to eat so I picked here. This restaurant was right in front of the plaza. It's been so long since I had okonomiyaki. I was excited to get that and cook it myself since they have a teppanyaki grill on the table. We got seated right away and was told that the grill cannot be used due to COVID...sad. We still ordered a okonomiyaki dish though. We got... Spicy goam okonomiyaki - I enjoyed the okonomiyaki. A mixed of pancake batter with veggies and noodles. The sauce was sweet and spicy. Goam is green onions and mayo. Mentaiko takoyaki - I love mentaiko so got this. The mentaiko was mixed with mayo so adds flavor with the takoyaki. Goma takoyaki - sesame flavor takoyaki. The inside was a bit mushy and not much flavor. A few pieces of seafood inside. Everything was fresh. Service was a bit slow.

Yelp
We popped in here during the great LA hurricane. Not much was open so we appreciated them being open to the public. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant is clean and there is multiple types of seating: tables, bar, and a kitchen bar. The food was good, but maybe just not our cup of tea. First we ordered the garlic edamame. It was good. Next we had the jalapeño Takoyaki. That was our favorite item that we tried. It was delicious. Lastly we got the spicy GOAM okonomiyaki. We had never had anything like this. It was not our favorite but it wasn't bad. The service was good. Everyone was friendly. It did take a while to place our order and then we had to ask for our waters a couple of times. Granted it was in the middle of a hurricane. Overall, would recommend.

Yelp
I LITERALLY CRAVE THIS PLACE! Best place to get fresh takoyaki! I love the multiple flavors. I love how they have a little stand right next to the restaurant! Ordering at the stand is only for take out. They make it right in front of you too! I usually get take out because you get more but ordering it in restaurant was definitely a lot nicer presentation wise lol. I ordered the ponzu and it came with a side of dipping sauce. Since it came right off the grill, the waiter had to warn us that it was piping hot, my fav! The outside was so crispy and chewy on the inside. Either eating at the restaurant or take out, it still taste amazing! Ponzu 5/5: the ponzu sauce was so light and you can drench them takoyaki balls in it and it'll still taste so good without being over bearing. Original 5/5: can't go wrong with the original! I love how it has the original takoyaki sauce, loads of green onions and fish flakes. Goma 5/5: this one has a strong sesame oil flavor and with the green onions... perfect combo. My friend prefers this over the ponzu. Wasabi 5/5: this is my more of a wasabi cream dizzle. Definitely has a wasabi kick, it's paired really well with the takoyaki !! Mentaiko Takoyaki 5/5: this is probably my favorite out of the brunch because of the sauce. It's like a spicy mayo with tamago (fish eggs). Definitely get a 4x4 to take home!

Yelp
We ordered via the to go window for half & half: Mentaiko Takoyaki & Parmesan Truffle, 4 pcs each. There's additional charge for parmesan truffle, but no biggie. The wait for it take a while, so feel free to browse around before coming back for the takoyaki. If you think you missed your # being called, just walk into the restaurant and ask the workers in the left hand side to confirm if your order is ready. The takoyakis are freshly made and are piping hot once you get them. They're really flavorful and just a delicious snack!

Yelp
I love takoyaki so much and this place fulfills every craving I have. I don't live in LA but if I have a chance to come by to Little Tokyo it's a necessity for me to stop by here. I love the food itself and I recommend either getting mentaiko/ orginal/ponzu ! Or the platter option so you can try a little bit of everything :) I've only done the window service which I appreciate that option as to the sit down service so I can just take my platter and sit somewhere around Little Tokyo. My only gripe is that even with the takeout option it was quite a wait but I understand when it's rush hour so I'm not totally blaming the service for that. Just wish it was quicker. Even for the sit down option the wait is quite long so I suggest either way if you want to put an order in through the window to do it ahead and just go around LT while you're waiting for your order because they text you when it's ready anyways!
