Absolutely phenomenal meal & service here. Matthew was an incredibly attentive server. He anticipated that I would be done with the misters by the time the sun set and asked me in advance if that was the case. It was. This is the best service you can ask for, someone seeing around corners for you. The manager confirmed everything was to my liking. I always appreciate a manager who is ensuring things are at or above the bar. I then asked her if the Nighthawks were paid actors. It turns out sunset is absolutely the time to be there. It’s a beautiful vista and it seems like the birds were performing! The food was outstanding but the service was even better. Not to be missed!

Everything we ordered was excellent. Personal Paella was delicious. You will enjoy your meal here. Beautiful view coupled with amazing food and service.

Talavera is a nice restaurant. My wife and I have eaten there before and enjoyed it. But today was a bit disappointing. When I made the reservation I was asked if it was a special occasion, which I replied, “Yes, it's our 45th wedding anniversary”. So, obviously, since asked that I naturally thought at least a special acknowledgement would be waiting on our arrival. Sadly, only a Happy Anniversary was stated by the server and that was it for the evening. Quite disappointing. Also, we arrived at 5pm, placed our order at 5:10 and then sat for 40 minutes waiting for word on our order. The waitress did finally come by to tell us it would be another 4 to 5 minutes. 10 minutes later we asked the waitress to check again. A few minutes later our food finally came. I will say the food was excellent, but other than that, the experience was lacking for an anniversary. We probably will not be coming back. After posting this on their website I was contacted by their GM. She apologized and offered to handle a future visit personally. As nice as this might sound, it actually didn't address our disappointment with this special anniversary dinner. There's no real incentive given for a return visit except that the GM offered to handle our reservation personally. I don't see any advantage to that or incentive. I guess I was expecting something offered that would make up for our disappointment. Not financially, but a promise of a night to remember for going beyond expectations. I guess our 45th wedding anniversary dinner will always remain a bitter remembrance. Well, the restaurant got in touch and wanted us to give them another try. So glad we did. From the time my wife and I entered the restaurant, we were treated to exceptional service and an amazing dinner. It was way more than we hoped for and certainly something we will always remember. Thanks to the Talavera staff for a night to remember. Ratings reflected above show how much we appreciate your efforts.

Fantastic food with a fun variety of dishes not often found in the area. Both the flavor and the presentation were fantastic. We felt they were priced appropriately. The steaks were higher priced than at other high end steakhouses so they will have to be above and beyond to gain our approval. We didn't order one as we were still skeptical about the quality thanks to previous experiences (see below). The service was great - professional, helpful, responsive, and fun! The chef even came out to say hello! We walked away from Talavera a couple years as it was very expensive, overpriced like Mastro's, and every dish was a huge fail. We heard they got a new chef last year and we thought we would give Talavera one more try to see if things improved. Thankfully they did in a huge way. We will definitely be back!

We had OK experience, food was not bad (except asparagus was saggy), but the food for this type of restaurant should be levelled up! Everything was OK, and wont be back for OK food. And I visited many high end restaurants and you know the difference, when you know what to expect from a place like Four Seasons! Service was great though and nice atmosphere. This place has a beautiful view, beautiful sunset. Won’t be back to try other dishes, too many great places in Scottsdale to try and explore.

Wednesday nights have live Spanish guitar music which made for an exceptional experience! Our waitress JD was outstanding with her recommendations for my celiac limitations. The Aji Shrimp appetizer is the stuff of gastronomical dreams! The Baramundo fish was fresh and buttery. Patatas bravas and filet so goood! Can’t wait to return and explore their other delicious dishes!

What a place, this restraunt is tucked back in a beautiful spot. If you can visit right when the sun sets you will have an amazing veiw. I will definitely be coming back and am looking forward to it.

Our entire party of eight was impressed by the service, quality of both wine and cocktails, and the execution of unconventional, creative flavor combinations. We truly enjoyed every moment and appreciated the hospitality provided at every step—amazing attentiveness that showed you care to go above and beyond. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I have a hard time not ordering their paella, it is ample and oh so good! But there are so many other amazing things on the menu, too! Kate the Talavera Manager is doing a fine job.

When you walk into Talavera, the expectation is simple: world-class dining. This is the Four Seasons flagship steakhouse, a place with sweeping desert views, a history of being the culinary jewel of Troon North, and a reputation that stretches far beyond Scottsdale. But here's the thing: at this level, details matter. The table we were seated at? Chipped and unpolished. Not the end of the world in a diner off Route 66, but in a restaurant where entrées climb into the stratosphere, it's a crack in the façade that shouldn't exist. The Food (the redemption): * The paella was the best I've ever had in my life. Rich, saffron-soaked rice, seafood cooked to perfection, layered like poetry in a pan. Worth the trip alone. * The mashed potatoes? Pure velvet. Creamy, buttery, comfort food weaponized for fine dining. * The octopus was delicate, tender, and balanced -- no chewiness, no "what am I eating?" Just pure flavor. * Even the bread was a highlight -- warm, fresh, with that perfect crust-to-soft-center ratio that says someone still cares in the back of the house. The Service... Friendly, attentive, but slow. Smiles and warmth go a long way, but at this tier, pacing is everything. A luxury dinner should glide, not stall. You can't call yourself Four Seasons when the table looks like it came from Goodwill. Paella of the gods, table of the garage sale. Talavera's kitchen is extraordinary, delivering food that sings, but the cracks in service and presentation chip away at the illusion of perfection. At this caliber, the Four Seasons name sets the bar high -- and right now, Talavera's food clears it beautifully, but the details drag it back down.

Talavera led by chef Emmanuel was delicious! The care and passion they put into their food is obvious from the first bite. The croquetas de jamon were my personal favorite, but everything is truly amazing, you can't go wrong here!

Love this place for its view! I think just for the view and its calm vibe, I would definitely come back! This place is in the four seasons resort, and had a dinner here when we stayed at the resort. People were friendly, yet we were barely asked if we needed anything and I think we waited very long time for getting our food and our second drink, like a lot longer than usual from other places. Bruschetta with jamon was good, jamon was so good. Steak was actually ok, it was big but just ok. I think some of their dishes are good and some are just ok, yet I'd definitely come here again because of the view!

We ate here twice during our stay and loved both meals. We sat on the patio and had amazing sunset views both nights, which is where I would absolutely recommend you try to sit. Getting right to it, I haven't had a steak like this in a very, very long time. I splurged on the ribeye and it was so perfectly medium rare, tender, and well seasoned I didn't even bother with either of the sauces it came with. Paired with the mushrooms...wow. If you like steak, a steak is a must. We tried several apps over both visits and the octopus, ensalada, and pan con tomato all stand out. I also really enjoyed their signature Manhattan - it's a little different (darker) than what you'd usually get but if you like them, get this one. For other mains we tried both fish dishes, and on the second night we got the paella since everyone else seemed to be getting it. Well, it's a signature dish for a reason. Not cheap - but A+ service, awesome food, and a great view. Get. The. Steak.

Beautiful restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale. Lovely decor and ambiance, especially at sunset. Paella is a must! So many great menu choices, wonderful service and staff. Absolutely a must try.

VEGAN REVIEW Tell me why this Spanish steakhouse has the most amazing vegan food?!?!? Split plates with my friend: roasted heirloom carrots, mushroom and fava beans, vegan paella. All the sauces & flavors were incredible! Beautiful plating. Great wine options. The service is awesome. Knowledgeable, helpful, attentive without bing annoying. Very dark steakhouse vibes. Great AC!

Other than the scenery and the ambience this restaurant was a MAJOR disappointment. Wait staff was pleasant but very inattentive. Had to ask repeatedly for water and drinks to be replenished. Lots of dishes were ordered (it was a large crowd) and without exception it was all disappointing. The tapas bread was soggy and a poor vehicle for supporting the toppings. The paella was the furthest thing from authentic, I wouldn't even call it paella. Those people in the party that ordered steak seem reasonably pleased but several did not finish their plates. Afterwards they explained they were just being kind and didn't want to ruin the dinner by complaining. For a place that touts itself as upper tier, I can only say it fell woefully short.

Stayed at the Four Seasons and had dinner here. Besides being sat at a dirty table (I take clean tables very seriously) we had an excellent time! Wait staff was on point and food was absolutely delicious! The tomahawk was perfectly cooked and the Talavera Paella was amazing. It looked like a small portion but was actually perfect. Pro Tip- you MUST order the chocolate wheel. That dessert is one of my favorite desserts ever!! 5/5 stars You can tell this staff is very professional and take their jobs seriously. I had so much respect for their hard work, would definitely come back again. Thank you, Team Talavera!!

another amazing and memorable dinner at the Talavera! had to get the Croquetas de Jamón again as they are just so delicious and rich. tried both salads offered and i couldn't choose which one was my favorite. one was on a bed of pureed butternut squash which was both savory & light and refreshing with the pomegranate. the other rich in whipped goat cheese, both winners! tried the Paella Talavera and had a spiritual experience. my mouth was dancing in flavors and spices. soo good and my favorite thing i've had here so far! saved room for their unique cheesecake and it was also a hit. i could come for just this dessert and their coffee! great service always. sat indoors this time and enjoyed the dim lit ambiance & art.

Great vibe and food! I came here for dinner and what a view and menu. I ordered the seafood paella and it was the best I have ever had. So delicious and you get a bit of every seafood in it! Overall a great meal and dinner. Would definitely recommend and come back!

The strawberry tuna appetizer dish is one of the best dishes I have ever had. Better than a lot of sushi restaurants. Everything is delicious. Great atmosphere for a romantic dinner. Service is fast and waiter is very friendly.

I don't often write reviews, but I must give highest compliments to the chef and pastry chef. The NY was beautifully done. The sauces were lovely, but not needed on such a delicious cut. The pistachio cheesecake was life-changing- like nothing I've ever had. I will need to travel back to PHX just for this dessert. The scenery and sunset from the patio were breathtaking, and the service was amazing, but I must admit, th cheesecake with a cup of ginger tea took the oxygen from all other stimuli that night.

What a beautiful and romantic setting for a dinner. We sat outside since our reservation was around sunset and boy did it exceed expectations! What a beautiful view and sunset. The service was top notch. Food, appetizers, starters were all great. We enjoyed our evening which we finished off by taking a walk under the stars in the garden area.

Visited some friends who were staying nearby and decided to try this place for dinner. Food was good but over priced. The Paella was fantastic. My wife really liked the duck breast. Nice wine list but marked up way too much. Service was just OK. Expected more from a Four Seasons property. We sat on the patio and the view was amazing.

Food was good, but overpriced. Not really a tapas place, where you get small portions for small prices. It's more medium portions for high prices, so you can't really try many things. Waiter said the papaya was too small to split so we ended up also getting the iberico. Turns out, not true. We took one meal home after tipping on the non inflated meal cost he created. Probably will go to proof next time.

This place! What an amazing experience, from start to finish. The setting: absolutely beautiful. The view is truly something to see, especially at sunset. It is quiet and romantic. This will truly feel like a getaway. The service: all of the staff are incredible. We had the best service. The food: every single bite was a burst of flavor. The presentation of the food was spectacular. The taste, quality and overall meal was certainly out of this world. I would highly recommend trying this gem.

Spanish inspired steak house with a nice view. We decided to check it out after our spa day at the Four Seasons and the waiter was fantastic, I think his name was David. I kinda felt sick after my massage so I wasn't able to taste much of the food so we took the paella home which was really salty. We shared the gambas al ajillo which was just so juicy and flavorful. My boyfriend got the filet and he loved it! Prices are over the top so I probably wouldn't come back here which I get that it's a resort but when you pay $54 for paella, I want it done right.

This may sound like I work at this restaurant, but I don't. This evening we had one of the best meals and definitely the best service we have ever had. David and his service partner were awesome. We had the paella and it was wonderful. The wines they recommended were great. They brought out a fresh pre-appetizer of melon and jamon. We ordered an appetizer that I cannot spell and it was awesome and beautifully presented. We ordered the smoky cheese cake it was one of the best desserts we ever had. The presentation was over the top. If that wasn't enough they give you miniature bonbons w the check. May we just aren't cultured, but wow. This place is awesome. We will be back for our anniversary.

AMAZING! Went on a romantic date and the food, ambiance, and service was outstanding! We ordered the seafood dish as an Appetizer which was great, they give you hand crafted plates specially made for that dish. I got the scallops, and my boyfriend got the steak which came with different salts and sauces, but my favorite was the butter. Whatever was in that butter is so good I put it on my scallops. This place has an amazing view, I would go at sunset. And ask to be sat outside. We went on a Thursday so it was not crowded at all so if you were into taking nice photos without a huge crowd around you I would go on a day that isn't busy like during the week. Our waiter I can't remember her name but she was from Chicago and worked at a four seasons over there and she was amazing.

We made reservations for dinner on Saturday evening and had a beautiful outside table to watch the sunset. The location of the restaurant is beautiful. We were surprised that I was not very crowded for a Saturday night. It is located in the Four Seasons of Scottsdale past the lobby bar. We did not see self park so had to use valet to park. The valet was quick. The art work and decor inside is Spanish but surprisingly the food has more Mexican influences. Take for instance the charbroiled octopus, it is on a bed of mole. We loved the pork or Iberico it was prepared beautifully, seasoned and moist with a lovely salad with candied kumquats. The paella was generously topped with many ingredients and was good. The dishes although they say are for one person are easily shareable. The paella is too big to eat by just one person. At the end of the meal they provide some complimentary churros and chocolate sauce, they were perfectly prepared, so nice and warm when served. Yum! We ate the so fast as the taste better warm that I was not able to photograph it. The host was attentive and immediately sat us but the waiter was not as attentive. However the assistant Mira was very nice and attentive. The prices are expensive, so expect to pay $$$$.

I came to Talavera for their Christmas buffet and was just awestruck. To begin with, getting to dine here at daytime is in and of itself a rare treat. The restaurant is usually only open in the evening. Most mentions of Talavera references "the view," but experiencing them on a crisp December day was also remarkable. I had the option of sitting on their patio, but I opted for indoors guessing that I would get more of the total experience. I think I made the right choice. Another perk of sitting inside? The people watching. This is an interesting and well-dressed crowd (yes, do put on your best). I haven't been around a crowd like this in a while where I wondered about their story so much. What I liked about the buffet spread was that it was nicely curated and not overwhelming. I went to the Fairmont Princess for their Thanksgiving buffet, and while they had tables and tables of options, most of it wasn't the best quality or even very original. At Talavera, there were some small communication hiccups (the person who gave us the tour of the buffet wrongly described one station as being for "pasta" but it wasn't on offer) but since this restaurant is only for tableside service, I was impressed. The pastries were really exceptional (envision Saguaro cactus cookies with a Santa hat!), and it was clear that the entire team had devoted hours to making this a memorable experience. I was a huge fan of the prime rib station as well. To my surprise, the cocktails weren't groundbreaking, but I didn't order any of their signature ones. I'd recommend sticking with wine/champagne options, to be honest. There were some small service options, but nothing that distracted from the overall experience. If anything, the staff seemed really nervous about the execution of the buffet since this wasn't part of their normal operation. Whenever we made a request, they did their best to fulfill it. In the end, Talavera delivers on all counts. It has the ambiance, the professionalism, and the menu. This immediately goes to the top of the list for me for bringing in guests from out of town or other special occasions. This is truly an experience and worth every penny.

The food here was great, especially their chicken dish, it was tender and delicious. Their service was great too, though it did take a little bit to receive my drink but that's not a huge deal, as for ambiance it was also great, music wasn't too loud and when it got busy it wasn't too overwhelming.

Talavera came highly recommended so I made a point to have dinner while staying on the property. I recommend making a reservation. I did not think about it so I had to wait ...but it was worth it. The restaurant is beautiful and the view is stunning. I decided to go with the paella and loved it. It was made with pork belly, chicken, chorizo, mussels and lobster. It was rich in flavor and prepared perfectly. They have a fun list of specialty cocktails and after going back and forth I decided to try the Juniper and Jam. It is made with elderflower, gin, strawberry, basil jam, soda and lemon. It was a hit. The staff was very attentive throughout my meal.

On April 11, my wife and I along with dear friends went to Talavera in the Four Seasons hotel. TL;DR, it was fabulously adequate. I debated about writing this review because I have refrained from writing any negative reviews of restaurants in light of their suffering during the pandemic. That said, the Four Seasons is a 'big boy' and should be able to handle my basically irrelevant critique. Let's start with the restaurant itself. Its singular claim to fame is the view. It is absolutely lovely and as they say, location is everything. Unfortunately, while the view is spectacular the rest of the restaurant is stuck somewhere in the mid nineties. It badly needs a facelift. Heavy wood everywhere, uncomfortable seating. Even the bathrooms felt dated. There are too many cool restaurant concepts in town to justify this decor. Service, as with everything else was adequate. The waiter seemed to know the menu but was quite aloof. His assistant however was quite pleasant and the food arrived in a timely manner. Again, absolutely nothing wrong with the service but nothing special either, particularly for a quiet Monday night where they had been advised that we were celebrating a 30th anniversary (yeah, wife is a saint). So let's talk food. I really like it no matter the level of dining. I love the pizza at Yo Pauly, a joint. I love the gyros at Gyros Plus, a Greek joint and a perfectly prepared baked potato with some bacon bits, cheddar cheese and sour cream is a slice of heaven. I'm not a snob. But ... if I'm going to spend the kind of money required to eat at Talavera, I expect a truly special experience. For appetizers, we ordered the Lobster Tostadas. What could be bad about lobster on a cracker? Apparently nothing but the chef decided to smother the star ingredient pretty much hiding it from the palate. I should have read the menu more carefully and noticed the number of ingredients which included aji amarillo, mango, avocado, salmon egg and pickled red onion. Talk about burying the lead. This seemed like an amateur mistake but apparently its been on the menu for a while. Next, we had the grilled octopus. I'm not a huge octopus fan but my wife loves the stuff. Her comments were that the octopus was nicely cooked but that's all she tasted. Kind of the opposite of the lobster tostada. For my entree, I had the special, a braised lamb shank. Braising just about any meat is my favorite preparation and I simply adore lamb. While I wasn't disappointed in the dish, I've had better versions in several restaurants at far lower price points. The lamb was tender and the braising liquid was reasonably flavorful although I thought the portion a bit small. Now here's where I get cranky. My wife ordered the Talavera Paella. While not a general food snob, when it comes to certain dishes, I am seriously picky, especially regarding a dish that I've spent years perfecting at home. In Spanish, paella means frying pan. When you make paella, one of the most important techniques is ensuring that where the pan meets the rice and other ingredients, a crispy caramelized crust forms. It's called the socarrat (usually pronounced either socret or sofret). Note that I said caramelized, not burnt. While the seafood in the dish was pleasant, the socarrat was simply burnt rice and it was pretty unpleasant. What I couldn't understand was why the rest of the rice in the dish seemed fine. After doing a bit of research, I suspect that the rice is precooked and then stored in the refrigerator. When they need to make a paella, they take the cold rice and put it in the pan. In order to bring the rest of the dish up to temperature, they end up burning the rice on the bottom. The bottom line is that Talavera is trading on its location, in the Four Seasons and at the base of Pinnacle Peak, for its pricing. As I started this review, it is fabulously adequate and that simply doesn't justify the pricing. If I return, it would be after dinner elsewhere for drinks at the neighboring bar that has a similar view.

The food was mostly awful. Thursday dinner and wasn't busy at all so no excuse on the horribly cooked and serviced meal. The duck was raw and had zero flavor and the "PRIME" steak meat was definitely low low quality cuts. The side dish of carrots were, I would assume, not cooked together as some were cooked and some were raw and crunchy. We got Gelato as their lack of much of any dessert was more than apparent and they brought us the wrong ordered gelato flavors. They didn't box the small amount of food I wanted to go but instead handed me a box. They didn't offer to cork the bottle of wine which was a $250 bottle which we forgot to bring home with us. Worst mean ever and they hovered over us but did nothing to service us. So annoying like they were just eaves dropping. Even with all this I left a substantial tip as it is the slow time of the year .....

The ambiance was amazing but the main course (their signature paella dish) was not great. I would find an alternate for such an expensive dinner.

Amazing what a well educated chef without ego? Maybe? can do to food. The Iberico Pork JYST as outstanding and just as unique as in the Worlds Oldest Restaurant in Madrid called Botin'. The paella? With authentic pearl rice and amazing seafood (in Arizona? I KNOOOW) The charred octopus perfectly tenderized and prepared. The shrimp Ajillo just like grandpa used to make. The homemade churros and the most amazing cheesecake I've ever had. As a local I will be returning. This may just be the best prepared meal I've had in these years where everyone is a celebrity chef. Keeping the menu RELATABLE is the sign of genius in my opinion. Too many chefs seem to operate on the notion of: If you can't convince them. Confuse them. Well done chef. Oh and my server who has been there 20+ years. Kudos to management. When staff doesn't want to leave..... neither will the client. Thank you. Seriously.

As a hotel guest spending thousands of dollars to stay at the four seasons, my wife and I went to have a quick bite and drink here. We didn't even make it past the hostess stand. We were ignored and treated like wandering gypsies. Im sorry, but if spend 1000's of dollars to stay here, I should be allowed to order something as simple as an app and a drink and call it a night. We were directed to the onx bar or whatever because we didn't want a "full dining" experience - whatever TF that means. Pretty sad actually. I've enjoyed this place for years but for the first time... I'm not sure I will continue to give them my money.

This is a true North Scottsdale gem. Incredible ambience and service, and a world-class wine list. We had a wide variety of menu items and enjoyed every single one. I definitely recommend the pan de queso, mole lamb, and torta de santiago. If you are a well-traveled foodie, you will be impressed.

Very beautiful ambiance and view to experience our amazing Arizona sunsets. Talavera is only open a few days a week so plan accordingly. We didn't start out so great because we were waiting a bit too long at the table before being acknowledged while other people who came in after us were already hearing specials. When our server did arrive he was very nice! Very good martinis....APPETIZERS.......pan con tomate, noble bread with tomatoes and garlic, fresh ingredients and a strong garlic flavor, I loved it! Then the pan de queso , almost like cheese biscuits AMAZING!!! Good firm texture with a soft center. Lobster tostadas were very small but amazing, lobster, mango, avocado and salmon eggs on a crisp chip, a tad hard to eat but delicious. ENTREE....talavera paella with just about every seafood in it including head on prawns and mussels with a great saffron flavor, then I tasted the 1/2 from a friend at the table good lemon and rosemary flavor. SIDES...mashed potatoes were thick and creamy probably the thickest I ever had, they had a street corn special which was sweet and fresh and a broccoli special that the table was not a fan of had a tart taste and a hint of pork (maybe I didn't listen to what was in it) but it was topped with gigantic pork rinds.....interesting garnish.

Terrible service. The food was okay but slow coming but good. Went there for a Saturday night dinner in early January and expecting good food and good service. Instead service was terrible!!! We saw our server maybe 3 time all night and we kept having to flag down other servers. Food took forever to come, no one filled our wine or water glasses. Even after we complained, the service did not improve. We like to stay at the hotel but this is our second bad experience at Talavera. This review would have been a one star but they comped our dinner which was a nice touch.

Service here is awesome! From the hostess to the manager they were all friendly and professional and if I was rating this restaurant for just service, it would be 6 stars. The pre-dinner cocktail was presented well and was a good drink and I'd recommend the Smokey Apple to anyone. Starters were decent but the beef tartar wasn't as expected or like I've had in other places. It wasn't bad, but when your eating raw meat, you want to be assured the quality is spot on. Pre-mixing with seasoning and other stuff can hide the quality. I don't think it did, but it could. Where the meal let me down was the paella. I've had paella in Spain so I guess my bar is high. There was plenty of meat, and it was good, but the rice was meh... rice makes a good paella and this rice was stodgy, and lacked good flavor. We ate at this restaurant a few years back and it was a very special evening and worth the money spent. This time, I can't say the same. The quality of food and the ambiance of the place didn't feel the same and I don't think it was money well spent.

I was excited to try this restaurant but wow was I underwhelmed by the food! The bad: Avoid the ribeye at all costs! We paid $80 for the worst steak I've had in recent memory. It was so bad my Dad said he though sizzler had better steaks. It also was supposed to come with a chimichurri sauce but instead it was just topped with some chopped peppers and cilantro. It would not have redeemed the steak, because you can't really come back from slightly over-cooked, poor-quality meat. The broccoli rabe was also awful. It was super salty, but even if it wasn't over-salted, the components just didn't work together. At the end of our meal, our waiter offered to tell the valet to have our car ready but it seems like he never delivered the message since we ended up waiting 5 minutes before telling the valet who ended up sprinting to go get our car. It's a minor inconvenience, but it felt like a bad ending to a bad meal. The good: The esquites and churros were good, but I think it's hard to mess up these simple dishes. The cheese bread was OK but seemed good in comparison to the rest of the meal. The views are great, as were the cocktails. I forgot my ID and they wouldn't let me order a drink (which is fine, not holding that against them) but I was able to sneak some sips of my Mom's drink before getting a scolding from the Manager (he definitely could have been nicer about it). Just don't forget your ID, even if you're in your 30s like me and never get carded anymore.

Attentive staff and management, hit and miss food, wine list is a bit of a let down. For a "tapas bar" Spanish wines are extremely limited and are not on the main wine list. The good was very good, though not excellent. While the 20oz ribeye melts in your mouth, the paella was lacking flavor. The shrimp al ajillo was good but not a knockout. Steak Apache special is very flavorful. Overall they are upscale and attentive, but fail in consistency.

Was able to get a chance to eat here with two other friends. The location, decor and ambiance are without a doubt, a full five stars. If you make it here on time for sunset, you will certainly not be disappointed. I feel as though the food is closer to a 3.5-4 star meal. The servers were extremely friendly and able to assist in any way possible. We started the meal with Pan Con Tomate and a selection off the Charcuteria y Queso. Pan Con Tomate - noble bread, heirloom tomato, garlic, Spanish olive oil Spanish Cured Meats & Cheeses - Spanish Chorizo & Manchego Cheese For a light salad and tapas, we enjoyed the Coffee-Roasted Beets salad which was a beautiful dish, Yellowtail dish and the Pulpo a la Plancha. Coffee-Roasted Beets Salad - Vanilla-parsnip purée, rutabaga, fig dandelion greens, valdeon bleu cheese Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled galician octopus, picon, potato On to the main course, we all enjoyed our own dish. I ordered the 8 oz C.A.B. filet, which was cooked perfectly at medium rare and bursting with flavors. I loved the black garlic, caramelized onion and olive manchego that it was served with. It was a deep rich sauce that was very tasty with the filet. Lastly, finishing with my most favorite part of the meal is dessert. Do yourself a flavor and try one of these two - Flaming Tres Leches or the Cinnamon Churros - oh my heavens, they were both great!

I came to Talavera with a fairly large group for work. Group dinners take time, but this one was on the longer side. I don't think the kitchen could handle us. Overall, cocktails and appetizers were great, but the entrees, at least on our side of the table, were disappointing. The restaurant is beautiful and you get a lovely view during sunset. However, I wouldn't come out of my way to dine here given the slow service and misses on the entrees. If staying at the hotel, I might come for cocktails and snacks, but definitely not for dinner. Our server was friendly and polite - she did a good job trying to keep up with our group. However, drinks took forever between ordering and getting to the table. I would have had another cocktail if it didn't take so long. For appetizers, we had the cheese bread balls, toasted chickpeas, cheese and charcuterie platter, tomato bread. They were all very good and nicely plated - great for sharing too. However, one of our tables got all the appetizers first and the other table didn't get anything until 15 minutes later - food could have been better distributed between the tables in our group. For entrees, I got the seafood paella and my friend got the salmon. The seafood paella was probably one of the worst paella dishes I have had at a restaurant. The seafood was way over cooked, but the rice was a little on the harder side. It also didn't have much saffron or seafood flavor. Another coworker who got the same paella had the same experience, while someone else at the other table liked theirs. It seemed like the kitchen was getting inconsistent. Similarly, we had mixed feelings on the other entrees, like salmon, scallops and steak. They were okay, but nobody was really impressed. Given the prices, I would have expected better quality and consistency. For dessert, we ordered everything to try. I don't remember them all, but they were okay, nothing really stood out.

Had dinner outdoors at Talavera a few days back. It ended up being a little too chilly. The food was good and the team of servers that assisted us was quite friendly. It was a nice experience overall but I thought the prices were way too high to come back. We can splurge once in a while but this place was too far and too pricey. Just glad we tried it. Oh, another con for me is that they don't have fountain drinks. They only have tiny bottles. No, thanks.

One of the most romantic restaurants in Scottsdale at a beautiful, four seasons, five-star resort. The food is absolutely amazing. The octopus that appetizer is delicious beautiful wines, South American style food it's amazing.

For many years Talavera was one of our favorite restaurants in the Valley, especially before it changed to the Spanish theme. Unfortunately, after our dining experience last night, we will not be returning unless some major changes are made. First, the menu was disappointing as there's so few options and very limited--I would say basic and esoteric at the same time. What we ordered was good, but not great. Secondly, It feels like the food quality has dropped. It tasted like the sauces were made with low quality seed oils, like, soybean oil. Maybe they're buying their food from a lower quality food distributor as there are different levels. Where the wheels really fell off was when I ordered a cocktail. I'm very picky about my margaritas. I will only drink them with fresh lime juice, if not, I'll order wine. I specifically made a point (as I always do) to ask if it's made with fresh lime juice. The waiter said yes, but when it arrived I could tell it was not fresh. It had a process taste that I am very sensitive to. While waiting for the waiter to come back the manager stops by to ask how we're doing, and we ask him about the drink. He also says-- yes, it's fresh lime juice. I follow up with, "so it's from fresh limes that were squeezed into my glass or is it a jug of lime juice purchased from a food distributor?" He then tells the truth, and says, oh yes, it's already pre-made. How is that fresh squeezed? They both lied to us about the way the cocktail was prepared. His recovery was fine and he made us new drinks with fresh squeezed limes. However, this is Four Seasons, not Applebees, you can't charge $21 for a margarita and use pre-made processed lime juice and then lie about it-- completely unacceptable! We love Four Seasons and have stayed with them throughout the world. This used to be such a beautiful place, I hope they can reverse course and return to their former glory.

First of all the vibe of this restraint is truly magnificent. The decor was so well thought out and every detail was considered. A very unique and beautiful spot for dinner. I went for dinner at 5:30 to see the sunset from here and it was truly great. We started with the pane con tomate and then pane de queso, both were very good but definitely recommend the queso over the tomato. Also got the Marcona almonds and cashew dip. These were good but not anything special, definitely similar to what you could get from a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. The fall greens salad was really nice. I also got the octopus which was very good. For 5 people we got the paella verde. When it came out it was definitely smaller than some of the other paellas I have gotten in the past. It ended up being enough though since everyone had the appetizers and a smaller dish. This paella was truly fantastic though. The vegetables and rice were so flavorful, really loved it. For dessert we got the churros which to me were way too fried, but if you're into that then I definitely recommend.

This was such a wonderful dinner experience and I couldn't be happier to write this review. Whether sitting inside or out on the patio, it really seemed as if the seating is perfectly aligned to offer great views of the furthest mountains, city lights, and desert landscape as far as the eye could see. *enjoy a bottle after dinner on the patio with your best pals and appreciate the scenery* The grilled octopus was delicious with the perfect amount of seasoning and not chewy or over cooked. The steak tartare was incredible, so much so that we ate before I remembered to take a picture. I would highly recommend you try it. The heirloom tomatoes are an excellent appetizer and definitely for 2. And let me just say, they PALLELA IS THE WAY-A! I recommend the Mariscos. It has a bit of heat for those like me who do not eat or are not used to a lot of spices. Nonetheless it was fantastic and I felt myself negotiating and reading with just one.more.bite... There's nothing here that you won't love. Enjoy!

Absolutely excellent. Ambiance is incredible, with fire side views on the outdoor patio over the entire sonoran valley, also viewable from indoor tables. Highly recommend timing the start of your dinner with the sunset, it's indescribably beautiful. Our server Rachi (I believe that's the spelling) was a divine goddess of a tour guide through the menu, as it can be a bit overwhelming - she knew every ingredient, could describe each nuance and flavor and gave us her recommendations (which we took and highly recommend). She was thoughtful of our groups needs and never tried to up sell or oversell. Really made the experience special. Some must haves to start are the grilled octopus, manchego cheese with Salchichon (they create a chacuterie board), with pan con tomate and pan con queso (gluten free and delicious), add ahi tuna tartare if you love tuna (I hate the fish, but the group sang it's praises). They have a 20 + page wine menu with wines from all over the world, but I recommend choosing a featured Spanish or South American wine to compliment the Latin flavors. They are known for their steak - within our group we had both of the filets, but their seafood is equally special. The scallops stood out as well as the barramundi and salmon - every flavor was perfectly combined. We also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts to share (divine). For dessert sample the homemade churros, homemade olive oil ice cream (I know sounds weird/gross but unreal delicious) and spicy Diablo chocolate cake (also gluten free) to share. If you've ever seen the movie Chocolat, this is how I imagine the chocolate tastes. All I can say in summary is this: enjoy and take your time. Perfect for a long dinner.

Another delicious meal at Talavera. This is my second time back post 2020. Excellent service, beautiful views and delicious cuisine. I had the Pan con Tomate, Pulpo (octopus), Raclette Mashed Potatoes, and Berries with Mascarpone. Everything was absolutely amazing especially the mashed potatoes that I couldn't stop eating even though I was already full! I got my dessert and a sangria to go which I enjoyed in the comfort of my room. The berries with passion fruit glaze, mascarpone, and marcona almonds was the perfect light sweet treat. Kudos to the chef and staff for a wonderful evening!

Two stars for the ambience, otherwise a 1 star experience. Service slow. Food is not good, and, overpriced. I don't mind paying good money for good food but this was horrible. 6 people and not one liked their entrees. The Paella lacked flavor with no saffron and yet they feel its good enough to charge $54. The chicken and pork tasted old. I have had better food at Macayo's. When we talked to the manager he acted dumbfounded and couldn't even address the issues other than saying sorry we were really busy. Not let me take care of your desserts or come back on us. The "normal" response to ensure customers are happy and will return. No thanks. Y'all can keep your Four Seasons front without the food and service to back it up. I will go back to Macayo's.

This place for sure has very pleasant ambiance, however, that's where it ends! The food is terrible and overpriced. I am more than happy to pay good price for quality food , but this was garbage. Got for a Paella which included rice with a stinky flavor, some sliced sausages, pork that you couldn't even bite into and a tiny piece of boiled soggy lobster that was utterly tasteless . First and last time here.

Amongst the premium hotel chains in the USA the Four Seasons ranks pretty high for service and beautiful resort hotels. They also are proud of the restaurants that are part of their properties. The Four Seasons in Scottsdale is a case in point. Recently I have dined there a number of times and I have not been disappointed. The Talavera is a lovely place with a grand view of the valley especially if your seated in their patio which sits a couple of levels higher than the surrounding areas. On my most recent visit (third in three months) I was again positively impressed with the quality of the fare. It was a rather windy evening and we chose to be seated outside near their 12 foot long rectangular fire pit. I had the crusted filet mignon (perfectly cooked to my requirement: medium rare). My dining companions chose the iberico ham preparation and they could not stop talking about it. The service was impeccable. Attentive but not overbearing. I must say that it is a little bit too formal for me but every now and then it's okay. The desserts were outstanding. Certainly a keeper.
