I had been looking forward to dining at this restaurant for years. It had been on my bucket list for so long that when my partner and I finally got a reservation for our anniversary, I was genuinely excited. Sometimes, though, things don’t quite go as imagined.
The place itself is quite small, which in itself isn’t an issue. I actually like cozy spaces. But the moment we walked in, I noticed a musty smell, almost like old dust lingering in the air. I have a pretty sensitive nose, and it immediately made me uncomfortable. Still, I told myself to stay positive. This was a place I’d dreamed of visiting, and I didn’t want to let a smell ruin the day.
The food, to their credit, was clearly prepared with care. Presentation-wise, everything looked thoughtful and inviting. I ordered the risotto, which I was really excited about. But as soon as I took the first bite, I was hit with a strong, almost overwhelming cheesy smell. I’m not sure if there was a particular cheese in the recipe that dominated the dish, but it was too much for me. I only managed two spoonfuls before I had to stop. The other dishes we tried were… okay. I liked the mashed potato though.
On the bright side, the staff were truly lovely :) warm, attentive, and professional.
Unfortunately, we ended up leaving and dining somewhere else afterwards, just to truly enjoy a good meal on our special day. It wasn’t the experience I’d hoped for, but I still respect the effort the team put into their service and presentation.
