"Just nine months after it opened, Kips Bay gluten-free Italian restaurant Tali has called it quits. Earlier this month, the restaurant that chef Harold Dieterle (Perilla, Kin Shop) consulted on abruptly closed, and a note on the website announces it as such. While it was open, Tali served Italian classics — pasta, panino, and desserts — in gluten-free form. Dieterle, the winner of the inaugural season of Top Chef, hadn’t been in restaurants for a while when he helped with Tali. Eater has reached out to owners for more information." - Stefanie Tuder

Loved the quick serve, table side service at this new gluten free restaurant in Murray Hill! You know it's good when you can't tell your meal is gluten free - the paninis, pasta, and starters are worth the trip. Must tries include the mozzarella sticks, the roasted brussel sprouts with the perfectly flavored vinaigrette, and the mushroom panini. Beautiful space for a quick, healthy bite. Right next door is their sweets and coffee shop - Tali Dolce (also gluten free!). The ice cream and sorbets hit all the right sweet spots. (Great Instagrammable spots)

I have been gluten free for about 10 years now and have tried almost all of the GF Italian restaurants in Manhattan, so I went the other night with my sister and friend. The food was amazing! I used to love mozzarella sticks but I have never been able to find anything gluten free that tasted even remotely like real mozzarella sticks. I figured I would try them, but I honestly wasn't expecting much. Absolutely amazing!! Neither my sister nor friend are gluten free and we were fighting over the last mozzarella stick. Seriously. That kind of good. I got squash ravioli that reminded me of ravioli I ate in Florence on my honeymoon. (before I was gluten free) I highly recommend the restaurant. The food is great, it's very affordable and the wait staff could not have been nicer. I'll definitely be back!

I went here for brunch for my birthday. This was the first time I had French toast in years and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious. I wasn't a fan of the pear topping but that didn't take away from how amazing it was. It had a little crisp on the outside and was so soft and yummy on the inside. I also had mozzarella sticks and mozzarella garlic bread. That was also really good. The iced green tea w/ lemon and mint was extremely refreshing and delicious, I had to order it twice. Great customer service and a wonderful atmosphere. A must for Celiacs and gluten free diets!

EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free?! And it doesn't draw lot of attention to that fact. First mozzarella sticks I've had in 12 years - yum! My gluten eaters were happy with seared tuna (cooked until tan though) and chicken parmesan. I had penne with roasted butternut squash - very filling - ate too much.

Had a wonderful experience at Tali! I try to eat mostly gluten free and this is such a great option, close to the New York design center & also Madison square park. The meatballs and French onion soup are a must try, as well as the fennel salad with olives(crazy great combo). Going to try a chocolate muffin and coffee on my way to work this week and will report back. Can't wait!

As a person with Celiac disease, and a parent of a child with Celiac, finding restaurants that my wife and I trust are completely gluten free - and have delicious food - is a rarity. All of the food at Tali is exceptional and they are meticulous about maintaining a completely gluten free environment. Meatballs, salads and pastas are all as good as the "real thing" - as are the baked goods from the bakery next door. Please open uptown soon!

3.5/5 Friendly, attentive staff and management. Laid back and cozy environment. Had the house red with the spaghetti and meatballs. Not sure if they have a special pasta-maker or if the spaghetti was Barilla, but it was cooked just a little too soft. The meatballs were very tasty and well constructed. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get dessert because the bakery next door was closed. As someone with Celiac's I love knowing that an entirely gluten-free kitchen and bar exists. My critiques are more around some questionable design choices. Perhaps they are hoping to have a big lunch crowd (I went there for dinner) but I found it very strange for a restaurant to have a full bar right beside a grab-and-go cooler with small TVs showing pictures of the food. That just made me feel like I was at one of those buffet-style eateries scattered all around Midtown. And to top it off, the music was just generic pop hits. If you're going to have a Brooklyn-inspired design, at least play an Indie radio station. Essentially, the food is good. Good enough that I don't think anyone without an allergy would complain. But this is definitely not a destination restaurant and I think the odd design choices and music are honestly enough to make pedestrians skip this one or make your "normal" friends feel like they're doing you a favor by eating here with you. I'd get rid of the cooler, the TVs and replace that section with greenery (living plants) and be about Italian food first and oh-by-the way we're gluten-free! Also: have dessert and coffee available for dinner!!!

Delicious gluten free food. Great menu and friendly service. Wish they had a West side location! And hopefully they'll stick around. I am gluten free on occasion and by choice and was still quite pleased with my meal. Especially the meatballs and cheesesticks. Chicken parmesan could have had a meatier chicken breast. That's my only complaint.
