The Best Cocktails in Oakland, Berkeley, and the East Bay | Eater SF

"Tallboy is a big step in the direction of democratizing martinis, no longer a drink for business lunches. Once you enter Tallboy, the martini is an everyman’s drink. Beautifully nuanced drinks are paired with a melancholy atmosphere and menu, including a split base of Gordons and Bombay Sapphire, a splash of Manzanilla Sherry, and a spritz of sea salt that makes their house martini irresistible. A little more than a year into its journey, Tallboy is recognized in the neighborhood as a local go-to hang." - Nico Bianchi

Andytown Coffee: San Francisco’s Coffee Mini-Empire Is Opening A Surprise FiDi Shop | Eater SF

"A vegan hot-dog bar celebrating its first birthday with a no-reservations, Olive Garden–themed party on Wednesday, May 21 from 7 p.m. until late. The bar is treating Olive Garden’s most famous cocktails as playful templates — Blue Capri, Italian Margarita, Limoncello Cheekies — and Olive Garden’s actual breadsticks will be on the menu as well; the breadsticks are reportedly vegan." - Paolo Bicchieri

Where to Find the Best Late-Night Food in Oakland and Berkeley | Eater SF

"A self-proclaimed “martini dive bar,” Tallboy is one of Oakland’s newest and hottest late-night spots. While its designation as a dive bar is certainly up for debate, its martini-centric drinks pair perfectly with its menu centered around “amped up” vegan hot dogs. Chefs from the James Beard Award-nominated Lion Dance Café offer zhuzhed-up vegan dogs topped with a wild assortment of toppings. The Lion Dancing Dog comes loaded with sambal mayo, crushed peanuts, fried shallots, cilantro, soy sauce-pickled jalapenos, and lime, while the Cheese in the Trap is topped with spicy kimchi, gochujang aioli, scallions, sesame, crisp noodles, and American cheese. The kitchen stays open until 11:30 p.m. on the weekends." - Lena Park

San Francisco’s New Restaurant Openings

"This Oakland bar is home to an unlikely combination of martinis and vegan hot dogs made in collaboration with the chefs from (the now-closed) Lion Dance Cafe. The dogs come with unconventional toppings like artichokes, kimchi, and sambal mayo. They’re also serving jello shots, cocktail shooters, and seven different martinis inside a space filled with green booths, plants, and a wooden bar. " - ricky rodriguez
