Tallgrass Burger

This is a nice place for NYU students living nearby and looking for halal food and even for people looking for halal burgers in Manhattan. Honestly, not the best or mind-blowing burgers you’ll ever have. But for pretty big portions, crunchy hot fries and onion rings, and pretty good burger, this place is awesome. I tried their wings, mac n cheese, buffalo fried chicken burger, and their meat burger. I also tried their garlic fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. Honestly all of them were really good but the man n cheese with the meat was not so much because the neat had a weird distinct flavor. Also, you should definitely try the sweet chili sauce with the fries and rings! Again, their portions are really big and it’s a great place for a nice filling lunch! The staff are very nice, patient, and fun to converse with! There are seating areas as well. It’s a place I went back to and would go to again.

This was one of the best burger spots I’ve tried in the city. I got the wagyu beef burger and the patty was really thick and full of flavour. The garlic and masala fries are also very addicting. The meat is all halal and the people working there are very friendly. The one person who took our order helped us decide what to get based on our tastes. The fries were also I definitely want to come back soon and try it again.

Arrived to order lunch, first noticed it’s in need of some upgrades and looked run down. Service was attentive with taking my order quickly. Ordered The Half-Pounder Burger and The Classic Burger. Burgers were a little cold but cooked to the desired temperature. Overall I thought it tasted very average. They had a few different options for dipping sauces that tasted really good. I will not be back.

Been coming here for 3 years now. Not once i had a bad experience. A truly local lovable place. Halal food Clean sitting and decent prices. EVERYTHING you can get is just perfect portions for a fun night out with family or friends. Tho not so big if you have more than 4 ppl but its doable due to the quality you get.

Ordered the Merino Lamb Burger and the Onion Rings. The smell of the lamb was really strong and there was not much flavor in the patty. The yogurt sauce was very tasty but then again I don’t want the flavor of my burger coming from the sauce. Onion rings were crunchy, greasy and pretty much what standard onion rings should be. For a Halal burger spot this place is good but nothing that blew my tastebuds. 3.2/5

We were looking for a Halal Burger spot in NYC. This was the one with the best Google so we were hyped up. When we first entered the establishment was empty and small. Each burger was ~ $13 - excluding fries or drinks. A bit pricey but we were still hyped. We ordered 3 orders of the classic burger and 3 of the Tallgrass Burgers. When we tried them the buns were dry and the meat felt stale. It was a badly made burger. Definitely had better Halal ones in Brooklyn and Long Island. If you have a long drive then this one is not worth it.

I came here with my husband & the burgers were amazing!! We eat grass-fed meat only, so it was amazing to see a Halal burger spot that sells grass-fed meat! The wings were also crispy but also had so much flavor! The Ginger Ale with Jasmine Tea drink was very refreshing with the food! I definitely recommend this spot!! Even if you don't eat Halal!

The food was awesome, and loved the large photographs of nyc on the wall. Definitely fresh and will come back here for more. The cashier was nice and had patient for me to think about my order.

We were in the area and the place had good reviews so we decided to pop in. I was expecting a hole in the wall with delicious food. It was definitely a hole in the wall, but the food was far from delicious. The tables were sticky and the food was over priced for what it was. The burger was run-of-the-mill and so were the onion rings. (the photo of the onion rings were what sold us). The mac & cheese was barely heated through. They are obviously premade and refrigerated and they couldn't get it reheated fast enough so I was served coagulated, lukewarm mac & cheese. If you need a quick place to grab a bite, I would go somewhere else.

I had the Malibu vegan burger with fries. The burger had a refreshing spread of toppings - I really enjoyed the salsa. There are a pretty large variety of condiments to choose from that blend western and Asian sauces, which made for great additions to the burgers and fries. This was a great spot for a quick, low key dinner.

I take no satisfaction writing this review...I have been patronizing this restaurant since they opened and have always been a big fan...their burgers have always been dense, flavorful and juicy...the last few times I've ordered, the burgers were drier and smaller...still flavorful, but less satisfying...

Hands-down some of the best burgers I've had in a while. I'm always on the lookout for a good burger joint, and Tallgrass Burger was exactly the place for that! While the restaurant itself was a bit of a hole in the wall and could really use some cleaning here and there--and I'll admit I was very intimidated by all the flies flying around--the burgers themselves were really well-executed. My sister ordered the wagyu kobe beef burger and I ordered the single zinger chicken sandwich, both of which were delicious. The chicken was juicy and moist on the inside and fried to perfection on the outside, and the sauce complemented the burger quite nicely. The beef was good too, though I found it slightly drier than the chicken. We also shared a side of sweet potato fries which were solid as well. Highly recommend!

The Wagyu Burger here is really great. The burger itself is big and the patty is huge. The Zinger Burger is not something I would order again and it was not worth trying, IMO. Their fries are the worst fries I have ever had. The amount of oil inside of the fries instead of potato filling was pretty horrific. I would absolutely come back here just for the Wagyu Burger and recommend others to try it.

Food was fresh and delicious. Great combination with Turkey bacon and chicken. Fries were good. I loved the curly fries. The atmosphere itself was eh. Didn't like the sitting area. Would like it to be more of an sitting area to be enjoyable. You get up and grab the napkins and sauces and whatever you need. I wanna go back soon which I will. Yes they are halal. Atmosphere wise, would like if it was more cleaner.

Basic American food. The space is honestly kind of gross, and it takes them a while to make the food, but the food is surprisingly good. I got a burger and fries and all of the ingredients were high quality and fresh 7.5

Chicken Parmesan Mac and cheese was okay. The chicken was the best part, crispy and well cooked, not tough in the least as some can be, very soft. The Mac and cheese itself was very basic. Little seasoning. The cheese quality was likely Kraft cheese or something, nothing really special. The tomato sauce used was extremely tangy and I found myself scraping it off in the end. It says it's for two but you can legit eat it solo so long as that's the only thing you're getting. It took some time to make which told me they were preparing everything fresh which was great but if you're on a time crunch you might want to order ahead and get it for pickup. The Mac and cheese came in an aluminum tin tray anyways so there was no need to ask for a to go box if I wanted to take it out the They have sauces in the back that you can add to your food on your own which I really liked! I came back for their double chicken zinger and it was the perfect size. They stack it high with garnishings. The beef is what made me score this establishment higher. It's wagyu and grass fed and my very picky brother was highly impressed by it, which is a rarity. In fact, I stopped in almost every time I passed by to get him a burger from here (so maybe once a week for a month or so). I also brought a crew of his friends and they all loved their food. It's not the nicest looking place but who cares if the food is good and you're with friends for a quick bite.

Tallgrass has been a staple in the neighborhood for me for years. Burgers are decent and a little different than the run of the mill. I would recommend the lamb burger. Avoid the salads. Overall, not top drawer (the buns leave something to be desired) but solid burgers and not too pricey.

Great local spot for burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings and fries! We tried a few of their burgers and they were nice enough to cut them in half for us so we could share!! The chicken zinger - amazing! Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had! It comes with two thick pieces of fried chicken. Half pound burger- big juicy patty cooked medium just like I asked! It doesn't come with cheese so make sure to ask for it! I went with American and I was a thick melty slice on there! Lamb burger - awesome to see something different from basic beef on the menu! It comes with a yogurt sauce which was really good! Curly fries - who can go wrong with those! Garlic parm fries - The homemade chipotle mayo needs it's own shout out. Honestly I could drink the stuff, I put it on all the fries, and the chicken sandwich. I honestly took a cap for my leftover to bring home it was so good! The burgers are huge so you don't need fries but why not add them! We also ended the meal with milkshakes, they were thick and tasty and cheap!!

Tallgrass Burger - located @ 214 First Ave (14th st) very famous for its burgers. Yes, I know I know .... there are many many burger places ... But you will love their Halal burgers and the veggie burger that has the smoky flavor to it. The chipotle sauce does make it sooooo much better !!!!! The new nachos on the menu is another reason to pay a visit .... with the amazing cheese !!! Make sure you get the cheese !!!!!! We had : Tallgrass burger ($10) Veggie burger ($7.95) Garlic fries ($4.50) Nachos We visited on a weekday evening and there were a lot of take-out as well as deliveries. My only complaint is that my burger party was well done although I requested medium.

Hands down the best burger! Anyone can make and sell a burger but not everyone can make a very good burger. And it all comes down to the beef used. Try the tallgrass burger and tell me you don't love it. Eat it with their garlic fries and damn it's an experience.

Tallgrass is my absolute favorite burger spot in NYC! Pat is killing it and now he's the new owner of TGB. He's always adding and updating new items to the menu. Any of TGB's thick, juicy beef patty can be done DIY style. Any Patty topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion on a fluffy, buttery bun has you wanting to add more. They have so many options from burgers to sandwiches to salads to wings and sides! The mouth waters just thinking about any of their burgers. No matter where you are in NYC if you need a really good burger then Tallgrass is your spot. Whether you like them basic or with toppings it's an amazing halal spot that serves up a myriad of tasty burgers. You won't regret it for sure! Please be mindful they have *discontinued tacos but still serve quesadillas. Love this burger place in nyc! I live in Texas but whenever I visit nyc, I come here for burgers. I recommend the chipotle one (can't remember the whole name) and their fries are so yummy too! Quick service every time.

Came in with some friends since we had heard a lot of hype about this halal burger spot. We were all super hungry and ready to eat a lot. When we walked in, we were pleased rly greeted by the employee behind the counter and asked to wait just a moment to be served. We were given menus and all took a look. Once we all decided what each of us wanted, we individually went up to the counter to place our orders and pay. I had ordered the Fire Rock Burger, a soda, and a side of Seasoned Curly Fries. My total was around 17 dollars for all three, which is a little overpriced, but not too bad for NY. Within about 10-12 minutes, my order was ready. The food was presented in a pretty appetizing manner. My burger container BBQ sauce, potato chips, jalapeños, and turkey bacon. In terms of flavor, I was pretty underwhelmed. The party itself wasn't that thick, and the flavor of the meat itself didn't even taste salted. The Seasoned Curly Fries were decent, but nothing special. Overall, I think this place gets a lot more hype than deserved. They do have decent service, but the burgers are mediocre. I did enjoy the Garlic Fries that a friend of mine had ordered. Out of all the places NY has to eat though, I don't think I would pay this one a visit again.

The burgers were mediocre the beef wasn't that tasty and somewhat dry and under seasoned. Got the Mac and cheese burger and the aloha. Aloha which is vegan, had the tiniest thinnest slice of pineapple which was disappointing, was expecting a punch of pineapple juice with every bite but it wasn't like that. Also got the classic Mac and cheese and high was good. Fries were alright.

This is the OG Halal Burger spot and the location is so convenient. It's nice to have good halal eateries in Manhattan (not just chicken over rice!) Food: I tried the doubles and go burger and the tall grass cheeseburger and customized it to my liking by adding onion rings. One thing I really like about this place is there is no fuss about customization you can easily customize any burger or order in general. The doubles in your burger was phenomenal and as was the beef burger but my God was I shocked about the size. For the price you're paying you get a very generous portion! And the taste is great too. I also tried the wings and fries which I thought were really good too. I definitely need to try their salads and mac & cheese next time. Service: The service here is so great and the lady at the cashier was super helpful with helping me decide what to get so props to her for the great recommendations. Ambiance: they have both indoor and outdoor dining that follow all social distancing protocols which is great.

This burger spot in the East village is perfect for a quick and wholesome bite. I was surprised to see that they have a bunch of vegetarian options as well. I don't eat beef, and went with 2 friends who are vegetarian, and we didn't have any complaints about the menu! I think that the burgers are awesome, fresh, and yummy. My medium tends to always be on the medium rare side so just keep it in mind but I dont mind and the fries are sooo yum dont forget to order them

All I have to say is WOW! The quality of Tallgrass is top notch. Very simple menu but always delicious. My office is near and whenever I'm in, I make sure that I eat lunch here and it's usually the chicken burger. I probably should try something new but I'm so in love with the amazingness that is their burger. Well seasoned, well cooked, and consistent every time I go.

Great service and great food! I'm really glad I got to try this halal burger place out and I will definitely be coming back! They have a small and cute outdoor seating area. The server, who seemed to play every role that night, was great! He always sanitized the table as soon as someone left. We were seated first and told to come in to order when we were ready. He brought out all our food too. We paid upfront but he uses the receipt to give our order to the chef so we weren't asked for a tip. I was surprised because he wasn't expecting one at all and unfortunately I don't carry cash on me to leave one for his hard work! As for the food, I got the tallgrass burger. It was around $10 which is a pretty decent price. I wasn't a big fan of the actual patty. It was a little crumbly and not seasoned enough for me. My bf got the Fire Rock burger but he made it a half pounder for a dollar or so more. They put the potato chips and jalapeños on the side for you to assemble yourself which was great. He also wasn't a big fan of the patty because he likes his medium rare but the restaurant only does medium well. His burger was also smothered in the bbq sauce which ruined the flavors for him. We also got an order of the hot buffalo wings. They were a bit soggy from the condensation. There was also a lot of skin left on the wings and it wasn't crispy to make it appetizing. The hot sauce was pretty standard. I got a side of their onion rings and curly fries which were delicious! You get such a huge portion for just a $5 combo. Also they have a great sauce of sauces you can get inside. They have this chipotle mayo that I dunked practically everything in! Speaking of inside, it's a very small shop. You need a key to use the bathroom. It had a very unpleasant odor and didn't look the cleanest. I would hold your pee in if I were you LOL

Reviewing the eponymous Tallgrass Burger. Generous sandwich, with avocado and lots of cheese. I wasn't a huge fan of the bun, which I thought was hard and dry, and the patty was also rather dry and chunky. Sauces are interesting though, lots of sriracha-based sauces.

Love this burger spot, it's hidden spot in East Village . Serving up halal grass-fed beef. This is my go- to spot in the city , not anything fancy but good burgers. They don't just have good burgers but also wings and Mac'n Cheese. Downside, I feel like the burgers are just a bit pricey alone . Ambience - Normal WiFi- Don't know Parking - Street Service - 10/10 Price - Bit Pricey (8-11$)

The garlic fries stole my heart. I think they may be the best fries I've had in a long LONG time. The 1/2 Angus was also deliciously flavored. The bun was tasty and buttery. I will say I wasn't a fan of how they laid the onions on the patty (in a flat set of rings) but that was easily fixed by moving them after my first bite. The presentation of the meal may make you underestimate it as it's served in classic plastic red trays and in a paper tote for the fries, but don't let the presentation fool you. The taste is well worth it!

Excellent food and service. We had a half pound burger and the Aloha Burger. The half pound burger was a tasty grass-fed burger. It had a clean, fresh flavor and was juicy despite being leaner than regular beef. It was huge and very filling. The Aloha burger was very good and was a veggie burger topped with grilled pineapple, soy bacon, Mango Salsa and lime mayo. It was delicious. We had a side of decent curly fries too. Service was friendly. Establishment was clean and bathroom was clean.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday and the burgers were quite good! The actual place though is kind of off putting and sticky. It's one of your typical hole in the wall places however, the quality of the meat was good. It was tasty and juicy and it's nice to have a halal burger joint around. The place is also very small with limited seating as an FYI.

Burgers are good but meat patty is thicker than I like. A lot of options for sides but wish fries had more seasoning. Also, wish the place was bigger.

Solid burger. Patty was juicy and flavorful. I got the Tallgrass burger with curly fries. Fries were crispy and delicious. The inside seating area is very casual and not that nice. But still clean and decent place to sit. They have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. I'd come back if I was in the area.

Waygu burger def tasted like a gimic. Don't get me wrong it was a decently executed (they put an overpowering amount of raw onion) standard burger. But it tasted it like just that. I'm no steak expert but I'm sure people covet waygu the way they do for it to be tasting just like regular prime steaks. Anyways still a decent burger don't fall for waygu trick

I placed a pick-up order via Seamless on my way home from class one night, and it was a really simple process. I'd walked by this place plenty of times to and from school and had ordered from them in the past, but had never stopped by until now. The restaurant is small, but well-kept and brightly lit. It is also very well ventilated. Definitely not at all what I expected from a fast food restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised and would have dined in if I had known the atmosphere would be so nice. I love their fire rock burger, which I ordered the first time. It was super juicy and I really enjoyed the little kick from the jalapenos and the chipotle BBQ sauce. Honestly though, you really can't go wrong with bacon and potato chips on a burger!! I wanted to try something different the second time around and ordered the southwest burger. It was not as impressive, and the meat was a little dry. Still, it hit the spot and quelled my burger craving. I always enjoy a side of fries with my burgers, and I've ordered the curly fries from here both times. Nothing particularly special about their curly fries. Honestly, they probably come from a freezer bag. Fine by me though. I also love their buffalo chicken strips, although I usually eat it without the sauces. I ordered it at first because they have a $15 minimum for delivery, but I ordered it again because they are delicious! Even when cold. I only wish each order came with more pieces. $6 for 5-6 strips is kind of pricey. I really wish they had some sort of meal combo instead of requiring customers to order burgers and fries separately. Maybe I've missed it on their menu, but it would be a full 5 stars if they had that option!

Burgers are fantastic here, the classic one is the way to go. Also have had the burger salad before if you want to opp out of the bun and carbs, also very good. My friend had the chicken sandwich and thought it was fine but not nearly as good as the beef burger. The classic one is pretty juicy and tender, and a good balance of sauces and other toppings.

Excellent selection of Vegan and Vegetarian options. I am in love with their Malibu Vegan burger. The bun is always perfect and isn't overdone on extras. Everything is made to order, which is something I greatly appreciate. Consistency with every order shows that their kitchen staff is A+

Burgers, boneless wings, mac and cheese and sides are all on point and amazing! Generous portions and decently priced. The outdoor seating has a heating system so it doesn't even feel like you're eating in the cold weather. Love that they have a variety of sauces out that customers can self serve.
