Where to Find Fantastic Filipino Food in Portland and Beyond | Eater Portland

"Along with Fork and Spoon House, Foster-Powell’s Tambayan is one of the few longstanding Filipino restaurants in Portland. The menu is also comprehensive, offering multiple versions of sinigang, the sour soup flavored with tamarind; a variety of pancit; and kare-kare with either traditional oxtails or beef. Tambayan is also one of the few spots in town that consistently offers dinuguan, the rich Pinoy pork blood stew." - Eater Staff

Portland's Most Potent Hangover Cures

"Menudo is a soup well-known for being a hangover killer from Mexico to the Philippines. This tomatoey, rich Filipino version is made with pork, instead of beef tripe like its Mexican counterpart. The tomato and pork are supported with hearty chunks of bell pepper and potato. Open for delivery and takeout Wednesday through Sunday." - Ron Scott, Alex Frane

10 Outstanding Offal Options in Portland | Eater Portland

"With its deep, murky brown shade, dinuguan might not be the first thing Filipino food novices might gravitate towards, but Tambayan’s pork blood and offal stew is deliciously savory with tart vinegar notes that pair well with a big scoop of rice. To be fair, even Pinoys sometimes euphemistically refer to the dish as “chocolate meat” to make it sound more appealing to children, but there’s no reason adults can’t enjoy dinuguan on its own terms. Tambayan is open for takeout and delivery."

Portland’s Stellar Ube Treats and Desserts | Eater Portland

"Halo-halo, the classic evaporated-milk-and-shaved-ice sundae topped with colorful candied fruit and legumes, coconut jelly, leche flan, and a scoop of ube ice cream (likely Magnolia brand), is nearly guaranteed to be on most Filipino menus. It’s been a special at Magna, and it’s a permanent fixture at Foster-Powell’s Tambayan. Tambayan is open for delivery and takeout Wednesdays through Sundays."
