Tamu Tamu Refreshments Review - Disney World - Orlando - The Infatuation

"The other place to get a Mickey cinnamon roll, and even though we like the one at Kusafiri “better,” it’s exactly the same. They also have a solid sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, and a few other pastries—sometimes it’s a chocolate twist done up like a delicious Tigger Tail. You can also get two Dole Whip variations here: the Simba Sunset, which has a drizzle of bright red, tropical fruit-flavored syrup, and the King’s Cooler, which is the same thing but with rum." - Carina Finn

Google
We had been looking for pineapple ice cream to enjoy at the end of our day. Fortunately, we discovered this refreshing place. Everything was delicious! The highlight was definitely the Pineapple Crisp Sundae! 😋

LOVE Dole Whip. Floats are good and the pineapple sundae is delicious. Can’t go wrong here. No seating or place to stand and eat.

Google
Tamu Tamu Refreshments is a quick service snack bar on a busy corner in Disney's Animal Kingdom Africa section. It serves a variety of beverage and snack refreshments, including the famed Dole Whip. Adult beverage versions are also offered and are highly recommended!

Rob Orolfo

Google
Besides the Dole plantation in Oahu and the ice cream place next to the Enchanted Tiki room at Magic Kingdom, this is the only place to get the pineapple smoothie. Yum!

Google
Delicious pineapple ice cream !! Love it !! So refreshing to have it on really hot day at Animal kingdom park Disney !

Google
After getting into the park and beelining it for Flights of Passage to beat the crowd, we had a late breakfast here. The line moved pretty quickly and while my wife made our orders, I found a seat around the corner in a covered alcove. This was a great place to sit in the shade and enjoy it, so get your food and go either around the corner from the line or right down the wall. Either has an entrance into this shady spot. The Pistachio Croissant was ok, I hear. It was not overly sweet and was pretty light and bready. The Mickey Cinnamon Roll was pretty good, though. Topped off with an Irish coffee, a good start to our day!

Google
Dole whip joint in Animal Kingdom. Had both the simple cone and the alcoholic version. Both amazing

If you love Dole Whip then this is your place! They have all the different Dole Whips that your hearts desires!

Yelp
I came for the original pineapple flavored Dole whip! Went to Epcot and they only had mango and tangerine, no thanks

Yelp
This quick service walk up stand is a great refreshing spot that can be hard to spot and easy to miss. They have breakfast options including the colossal Mickey cinnamon roll and a breakfast sandwich along with refreshments like dole whip and the dole whip floats. Found myself in Africa twice today to which we stopped both times! In the morning around 9:30am we got the honey pistachio croissant which was very good, however for some reason I thought it would be filled with pistachio or something. Unfortunately it was just dusted with some regular pistachios on top. Don't get me wrong, it was still very good though! Super flaky on the outside and very buttery and delicious on the inside. After Kilimanjaro safari at around 1:30, we got a little early afternoon pick me up and got the dole whip to share amongst the three of us. I really do think they give you more here than they do at aloha isle in Magic Kingdom. If you notice the dole whip serving in Magic Kingdom, it's actually hollow on the inside which makes it appear to be larger, but here it's not! So refreshing and delicious as always. Such a Disney snack staple!

Yelp
Wanted something to eat in the morning and not much is open before 11am. Stopped by this place. Many drinks available and some snack. I tried the egg sausage and cheese on biscuit. It was ok. I don't like biscuit but couldn't find anything else that I felt I wanted. If you like biscuit, you will like it more then me for sure. It was hot which is nice. I couldn't taste the cheese at all although I did see it. The egg and sausage were ok. My girlfriend tried a savoury snack that I don't recall the name. She liked it. I would say unless you really want a biscuit with all of this, skip this snack. I can't vouch for the drinks and other snacks.

Yelp
Vanilla ice cream, pineapple cake with a caramel crisp drizzle. Say no more! This was a fun find for me since I don't go to the animal kingdom often. The line moved really fast and it was made to order!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Dole whip at Animal Kingdom! I am a huge Dole Whip fan, so I get it whenever I see it. Ordering was quick and easy, it really hit the spot because it was starting to get really hot in the park. It is a smaller portion than if you were getting it at Magic Kingdom, but it's Dole Whip so I can't complain!
google avatar

Kristy K.

Yelp
Went here for the pineapple crisp sundae and it was worth every penny. The cake itself is so tasty and along with the homemade caramel and crumble, it was a solid hit!!!! Will get again!
google avatar

Marlo J.

Yelp
Tamu Tamu is a refreshment stand in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. They have the famous Dole Whips, but...don't overlook the delicious Pineapple Crisp Sundae! My husband and I share this because it is a nice size & served on top of a piece of pineapple crisp cake. Recommend Tamu Tamu & ENJOY!
google avatar

Delilah M.

Yelp
Order their pineapple crisp sundae and thank me later!! It's such an amazing dessert. Not overly sweet and the crumble is delicious
google avatar

Nancy M.

Yelp
We enjoyed a danish, sausage, egg, cheese biscuit, a coffee and dole whip from Tamu Tamu. The service was very friendly and efficient. The space itself and the adjacent eating area were clean and well maintained. The food was average. Nothing exciting but it filled us and allowed us to continue our day.
google avatar

Czarina D.

Yelp
Came for breakfast and had a honey pistachio croissant! Nothing crazy! It tasted exactly as you would expect. A good option.
google avatar

Carmen C.

Yelp
Wow this place had the best dole whip. Staff were friendly. Mickey Cinnamon roll was huge. We sat at the tables to eat.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Dole Whip is a must when visiting Disney! Surprisingly, We didn't see many dole whip shops around the parks so when we saw this one in Animal Kingdom, we had to get it. Even though it wasn't super hot out since we came in January, it was still a refreshing treat. We got the dole whip with coconut rum but you barely taste the alcohol since there was so much of the dole whip. It was the perfect consistency, super creamy and pineapple flavor stood out nicely.
google avatar

Rochelle C.

Yelp
I didn't know I wanted the pineapple crisp sundae until I saw someone walking with it, and had to stop and ask her what it was and where did she get it. I immediately told my family that it was time for a snack and lined up to grab one. We found some seating around the corner and proceeded to devour the dessert. It was so delicious or maybe we're just too hungry?! Whatever it was, we enjoyed it and regret not getting another one before leaving the park.

Yelp
GOOD PLACE FOR DOLE WHIP A visit to a Disney park is not complete without a Dole Whip. At Tamu Tamu, we got the classic Dole Whip cup ($5.49) and Dole Whip Pineapple Orange Soda Float ($6.49). The Fanta orange soda float is even tastier than the pineapple juice float :0) Next to the Tamu Tamu counter shop is a large seating area with clean tables to rest and enjoy your Dole Whip. Park Admission: Animal Kingdom admission required Disney Mobile Food Ordering App: no Annual Passholder Discount: no

Yelp
Came here during my first visit to Animal Kingdom and because I really wanted dole whip. Prices are reasonable and I like how they have options for those who may want alcoholic versions. I tried Simba Sunset because the syrups is not something we have at Disneyland. Honestly, could've done without the syrup because it was a bit too much as it all ended up at the bottom. I was most disappointed by how melted it was when I got it. I thought it was just mine but realized that every person after me also had the same issue. Mine was so bad, everything was spilling so I had to work fast My friend got the brownie and icecream and I thought it was alright. It came with a scoop of icecream, a brownie and two small cookies.
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Best dole whip ever! Great service! Ambiance is beautiful since it's inside of animal kingdom!
google avatar

Meg T.

Yelp
Maybe it's just me (or the weather) but these dole whips lasted maybe 2 minutes before they melted like butter in the sun. Walking up to Tamu Tamu the honey and I decided to order a couple whips (his with alcohol, mine regular ole child friendly) but the alcohol in his was essentially only at the bottom, and both our treats melted so fast they weren't that enjoyable to eat. I'd love to see these served more frozen, based on the fact that Florida runs like 10 degrees hotter than California, but otherwise the service was friendly. While we likely won't be back to Animal Kingdom, I'd say Tamu Tami is a fairly good stop in the otherwise poor food options at this Disney World park.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
This is a great place to stop for drinks and people watching. Great bar service and even better drinks.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
I usually come to Animal Kingdom with family and friends to ride rides. This morning came to Animal Kingdom so for the Safari Amber beer. When I arrived at the restaurant. I was informed that the safari Amber beer keg was locked. Also, the key was broken off in it and could not be open. This was an inconvenience for me because I love that beer. Come on Disney if something is broken fix it immediately so we're not inconvenienced.
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
I can't explain it- the dole whip tastes better in Magic Kingdom for me. BUT you can get it with alcohol here which is pretty fun! It does chance the texture a little bit and obviously the taste too lol. I'd classify it as a medium-high priority snack for an adult Disney trip in Animal Kingdom. I've also tried the Simba Sunset which has some other flavors mixed in. Not my favorite. The extra flavor just wasn't necessary- but it did make a great photo! Maybe there isn't anything that can truly top that insanely good, yet simple pineapple soft and creamy treat. I'm truly obsessed with dole whip- and apparently I'm also a minimalist when it comes to enjoying it. This snack stand is in a great location- just far enough away from the entrance where you're going to start feeling hungry for a snack. The line is always pretty long when I've been, but when you want some amazing dole whip- you know it's worth the wait!

Meghan R.

Yelp
You must stop and get a dole whip for the kids and a cider for your sanity!!! Quick and easy to get,
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
Absolute best place to get Dole Whip while in Animal Kingdom. They previously had a sour apple scar Dole Whip however last week that was not on the menu and it was all Apple cider and fall choices. Still, the only place you can grab a fresh dole whip in this park. Staff is really friendly and this is along the walkway in Africa.

Yelp
Tamu Tamu Refreshments at Animal Kingdom is a convenient spot for a quick bite. Their offerings, like the pineapple dole whip, hit the spot on a hot day. I'm rating it 4 stars because it's not the most extensive menu, but it's a tasty stop for a treat.
google avatar

Heide S.

Yelp
Stopped by Tamu Tamu Refreshments after riding the Safari for a quick refreshment. We got the Simba Sunset - Dole Whip Pineapple with Watermelon Strawberry, and coconut flavored Syrup. Surprisingly, couldn't taste the coconut flavored syrup. Lucky for my husband because he's not a coconut fan but I was disappointed. Overall, would give the Simba Sunset a 6/10. It wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be, but it was a good value for what you get being that it was only $5.49. For $4.50 more, you can add Coconut Rum to it - *The King's Cooler*.
google avatar

Linda I.

Yelp
Another place to get your Dole whip fix besides at Magic Kingdom. I picked one of the upgraded version which is called Simba Sunset, which was really good but definitely very sweet. The line used to be very long before covid especially on a hot day, but it got better lately.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
This is my favorite dole whip. Sorry Aloha Isle. I like the original pineapple cup dole whip. Reminds me of frozen yogurt.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Fast place to get your dole whip with some extra pizazz. We got the Simba sunset: pineapple dole whip with watermelon, strawberry, and coconut syrup. It's a large portion and the syrups make it feel more tropical. I prefer this over the regular Dole Whip which is too plain to me. I wish you could taste the coconut a little more, especially for the price.
google avatar

Minnie L.

Yelp
Inside Animal Kingdom at WDW i there are a few places that sell the infamous Doke Whip. BF and i never had Dole Whip before so we decided to have one today for the first time. We had the limited edition Simba Sunset Dole Whip Float. It is a pineapple Dole Whip topped with red syrup made up of watermelon and coconut. We realize lord it.
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
How exciting, a Dole Whip someplace other than Magic Kingdom, right? Eh. I've gone this route twice, and both times, while the cost of the Whip was the exact same, the size was pretty small. You get way bigger portions for your money at MK. Don't get me wrong, you can for sure get your Dole Whip fix here, and when you're desperate, you do what you can. I get it. They also serve a brownie sundae here that's really good, all my kids love it, and the portion is much more respectable for the price.
google avatar

Emil C.

Yelp
It was a pretty warm day, so I got in line here where I ordered the Simba Sunset. It was Dole Whip pineapple with watermelon, strawberry, and coconut flavored syrup. Why ruin a good thing with syrup? Next time, I'll just stick to the Dole Whip! If you're needing some alcohol, you can get beer as well as alcoholic versions of the dessert/snack items by adding Plantation Dark Rum or Parrot Bay Coconut Rum.
google avatar

Jessi M.

Yelp
We stopped in this little pickup line to get some Dole Whip and decided on Simba's Sunset. It's Pineapple Dole Whip with a watermelon, strawberry and coconut flavored syrup on it. Kind of deceiving because I thought it would be three different syrups to choose from but it's al three flavors in one. The Dole Whip here is very light and airy compared the other Pineapple Dole Whips throughout the parks and it melts super quickly. I'm sure that's why they serve it in a bigger cup for the same price. There are other treats available at this window but we didn't try anything else because that was the only plant-based option. Also, mobile ordering wasn't available for some reason, which I think it should usually be. Overall, I wasn't really satisfied with this treat but I'm glad I tried it.
google avatar

Savannah S.

Yelp
I cannot thank these two workers for serving us early in the morning while it absolutely down poured in Animal Kingdom. For breakfast my boyfriend and I shared the 50th anniversary Mickey Cinnamon Roll and the Pineapple Dole Whip. I thought the cinnamon role was so sweet being covered completely in maple syrup and blue frosting. It was the perfect treat in the morning to get your day started! I've heard many people rave about the pineapple Dole whip and how I have to try it. I'm not a huge fan of pineapple but did enjoy how it was like soft serve ice cream. My boyfriend definitely enjoyed it and understand what's everyone is talking about. I would highly recommend this place if you are walking through Africa!
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
This is THE place to get your Dole Whip with coconut rum!!! I personally am not a big fan of Dole Whips. If you've never had one, it's like pineapple flavored frozen yogurt. I could take it or leave it really, but ice cream with coconut rum on it is too good to pass up! This is basically just a counter to order from, so no tables and chairs. And it will melt on your hand in the heat, so grab some napkins! It's right near the Lion King show, if you want to grab one before you stand in line to head in there. It's also on the way to Kilamanjaro Safari, so you can eat/drink it while you wait in line.
google avatar

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Great location near the safaris and the dawa bar. Today we tried the Mickey brownie and let me tell you Mickey Mouse has never been more delicious. Seriously the cookie ears and brownie are so good, as is the ice cream. Also, not only do they have dole whip, but they will also add rum to it.... The only downside is it's garbage coconut rum. Years ago they had Plantation Dark Rum and that was pretty legit. Do the right thing Tamu Tamu, bring back the Plantation Rum.
google avatar

Elisabeth M.

Yelp
The dole whip here was highly disappointing I've never had a Disney dole float, but I have tried copycats of it in local ice cream shops and I would definitely prefer the copycat version. The simba sunset had a great portion but I had to throw it all away as it was inedible and no one in my party liked it, the ice cream was fizzy and bubbly and had a bad texture. Not refreshing at all , save yourself the line and the money and go to Pongu Pongu to get a night blossom
google avatar

Garett S.

Yelp
Tamu Tamu is a great place for desserts. The selection is small: ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, waffle sundae, dole whip ice cream and drinks. We tried the chocolate waffle sundae. We were initially confused what it was. Initially I thought it was waffle cone, but it is just what it is a chocolate waffle with ice cream on top. At first bite the waffle is soft and the flavor of the waffle is good. I like that they use real vanilla ice cream instead of soft serve. This snack is great to try almost as good as the beignet sundae I tried at Port Orleans. This is a great place to try if your looking for some good desserts.
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
Tamu Tamu Refreshments is another great place to find Dole Whip when outside the Magic Kingdom. The snack stop offers a few different flavors of Dole Whip including the traditional, Simba Sunset (strawberry, watermelon, and coconut syrup), and alcoholic versions of the previously mentioned flavors. I went for the Simba Sunset (I love coconut). I went into this with the concern that it might be overly sweet and too much to handle in one treat. This was not the case at all. I was pleased with the overall flavor profile and would absolutely order this again when visiting Animal Kingdom. If this is your first adventure into the world of Dole Whip I would still recommend going with an original Dole Whip prior to branching out into the various flavors. Never be afraid to order both and share with your family to get the best that both have to offer!
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
So refreshingly good! Gotta get the pineapple float which is probably one of the more popular cold beverage / snack in all of Disney World.
google avatar

Corey W.

Yelp
Simba Sunset - Finally had some good coconut-flavor. Happy with it, though ours was melty. Dole whip rankings Pineapple - great flavor and creamy smooth texture Lemon - Pineapple Lanai - tart and refreshing Orange - Sunshine Treat - excellent both as a creamsicle and on it's own. Get the lava burst thing. I lava float. Raspberry - Aloha Isle - great flavor and creamy Lime - Pineapple Lanai - great flavor but sherbet texture. Little icy. UPDATE - last day was creamier and delicious. So, could be hit or miss. Lime - Storybook Treats - great flavor and creamy taste. Could be soft serve and not dole whip. Pineapple with Coconut - Simba's sunset - Tamu Tamu - best coconut flavor mostly because of the syrup. This was light and refreshing, but ours was very melty. Cream Cheese soft serve - Storybook treats - This was really weird. It intrigues you more than anything else but it isn't very good. Better when mixed with the coke but again, not great. Strawberry - Refreshment Port - too much like ice cream, did not taste like dole whip. Coconut MK - tastes like vanilla with a hint of coconut at the end.

Yelp
I have typically overlooked this location but due to lesser crowds during COVID, I decided to get a Coconut Rum Dole Whip this time. It was to die for! Very refreshing. It was also super quick to get through line and get your food which was nice as well.

Yelp
2018-07-17. Tamu Tamu Refreshments. if you enjoyed the Dole Pineapple ice cream while in Magic Kingdom, then you need to have one of the Dole Pineapple Whips at Animal Kingdom. First off, the two are NOT the same. Magic Kingdom is more of an frozen custard (see my review on Erma's or The World's best to find out the difference between frozen custard and ice cream) with real pineapple chunks and bits. It's very good and I would highly recommend it. Here at Animal Kingdom, the Dole Pineapple whip is more of a sorbet. There are no chunks, and the flavour is blended in. You have the option to add a shot of dark rum or coconut rum for $3. With or without, it's very refreshing, especially on hot days. If you do partake with the alcohol, I recommend the coconut rum. 5 stars! We also had one of their Double-Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches. Ice cream abreast two large homemade chocolate chip cookies. While the ice cream was not gourmet, it easily held its own. 5 stars! It's been a while since I was last at Disney, and I must say that they certainly have kept their integrity over the years. While costs are relatively high in general, they've managed to keep them in check. I recall paying roughly the same amount of money a few years back. When you consider their superior service and quality ingredients in the offerings, it becomes much easier to accept the premium you pay while on the resort. 5 stars overall. On a side note, I still have yet to try their Malva Cake Sundae, but if I do return, you can be sure I'll be ordering one. Malva Pudding Cake is a South African dessert. It has a caramelized exterior and its interior is either injected with warm butter, giving it a rich taste and spongy texture. The exterior is bathed with a cream sauce and the cake is usually topped off with frozen custard or ice cream. A dessert so decadent, it is sure to quell any and all self indulgences... I've heard that it's often made with fruit jam of some sort to add an extra element of flavour and acidity, and I'm smacking my lips just writing about it. I look forward to my first taste! I almost forgot, Congratulations Tamu Tamu Refreshments on being my 16th establishment in achieving a 5 star rating! Cheers. If you would like to read more, come dine-with-me@yelp.com, I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

Yelp
Definitely over priced.. I got the Pineapple Dole Whip with the coconut rum, and it came out in a small cup - for $9+ dollars, it was not worth the money. Sure, if you want to try it, it's worth the try - it was pretty good. But for that much money, I expected more.

Ricky M.

Yelp
Want a great Dole Whip? Add Strawberry to it to make it a Simba Sunrise. Very refreshing on a hot day in the Harambe Market at Animal Kingdom - Walt Disney World. Service was exceptional...Emily M and Sydney make a wonderful treat to beat the heat!
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Looking for a quick snack and a shady place to sit while hanging out at Animal Kingdom? Tamu Tamu has drinks and ice cream for the whole family! You'll order and pay at one window and pick up at the second window. Behind the stand, is a courtyard with plenty of seating in the shade but would be best to avoid if it's raining. This is the spot to get pineapple dole whip!!! But this is not the kind with vanilla swirl, it's just plain pineapple but you can get it with rum!!!! There's also chocolate covered espresso beans, a sundae and a cookie sandwich. The sundae is a lie! It's two scoops of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and two chocolate discs to make Mickey ears. They should just say it's a bowl of vanilla ice cream. The cookie sandwich is giant and could easily be shared between two people.
google avatar

Yelp
I kept seeing everyone with small pineapple dole whips walking around. I all of a sudden wanted a dole whip since I was unable to get one at the Magic Kingdom. Tamu Tamu was a lifesaver so I got in line and the line which was about 5 minutes and it moved along quite quickly. I got up to the first window and my cashier Landis took my order. I then moved along to the next window and that's were they gave me my Dole whip. Its the right amount to not be too much and not finish it. The Dole whip was refreshingly yummy on a hot day. My total for the Dole Whip was $4.47. I keep reading that they offer it with rum so I'm a little disappointed that I was unable to try it when I went. They offer food which I didn't try this time, but next time I'll definitely try something off their menu. This place also offers vegan options which is really cool of them. Ultimately this is a great place to stop by and get a snack or a pineapple soft serve Dole Whip while you're in the Animal Kingdom.
google avatar

Christy W.

Yelp
Tamu Tamu has my favorite dairy-free frozen treat of all time: Pineapple Dole Whip! And better yet, you can add a shot of either dark rum or coconut rum to it. The soft serve is SO creamy and refreshing - Perfect during a hot day in Animal Kingdom!
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
The only thing I ordered from here was the malva cake sundae. Overall, it was a pretty good dessert if you're craving something sweet. For me, I felt the rum taste was a little too strong. Aside from that, I would still recommend to try this.

Yelp
After getting stopped by a Disney Surveyor - we surveyed him to see what have some of the people's faves at Animal Kingdom - Ah Ha! He told us that not too long ago Disney scraped the whole menu at Tamu Tamu in 'Africa' and refreshed it with a new menu with more of a African flare. We had the African Chicken Curry that was about 10 dollars including tax. It comes with a two quartered pita bread that was super soft and tasted fresh. The Curry was decent and spiced well. I love that the curry used dark meat cause that added to the tenderness of the chicken. Also at this stand you are able to buy a veggie curry and a chicken salad (I think). They also have a snack pack for the little ones that includes drinks and a few snacks to keep them occupied. All in all a good curry midsnack/meal while you're exploring the countries in Animal Kingdom!
