I love vietnamese food and I travelled an hour to get here. They sell a lot of authentic stuff, mix and fresh herbs. The cat (meownager) was touring me around too.😆

Google
Maybe it’s not a slick as some places, but this place has items you can’t find anywhere else. An amazing selection of fresh, frozen, canned and jarred goods so you can have Vietnamese ingredients on hand whenever you need them. I love their choice of shelf stable coconut milk. Plus, they have an adorable little kitty cat. I need to come here and stock up!

Google
I wish I could give 0 stars. This is a warning for customers so they don’t get scammed like I did. I walked by this store today around 4:30pm and saw these big long green and amazing looking avocados and I decided to buy two. I picked them myself very consciously and the woman that works there grabbed them from my hands to put them in a bag at the same time as she said ‘these aren’t going to be ready to eat in two or three days’, to what I replied ‘I know, that’s why I’m getting them, I already have ripe ones and need green unripe ones so they last’. She turned around and went to grab a bag from under the outdoor counter where I couldn’t see, and I looked down to grab my wallet. She came back and handed me a bag with the avocados and I automatically put them in my backpack without checking them. I did more errands and when I got to Brooklyn and I took them out I realized that she had swapped the avocados I picked with my hands for tiny round ripe avocados. I felt so scammed and frustrated that I decided to go back to speak up and ask her why she swapped them so shadily and gave me that garbage, and return them. Sadly, by the time I arrived, the store was already closed. These people don’t deserve to have a business, they fool customers and give them the trash they have in the back so it doesn’t get spoiled on them, and keep the plump nice looking produce for display. Don’t purchase here and make sure to check your bags so they don’t scam you.

Google
It's amazing how I find many Vietnamese products that I can't find anywhere else outside Vietnam. The prices are also really great deals.

Google
I appreciate that they have some Vietnamese items I can’t find at other grocery stores, but their stock is not good quality. Some of their cooked Vietnamese bánh (desserts) were visibly growing mold on the counter. Unfortunately, something I bought was also spoiled, which I didn’t realize until I got home and bit into it. I would get dry goods here if necessary, but absolutely would not recommend anything perishable as it is likely to be old.

Google
Your Local mom and pop supermarket. They are your typical hardest working people trying to make a living, all their grocery prices are the lowest because they want to serve the community.

Quoc Bao Nguyen

Google
A well-known Vietnamese market in China Town. They sell Vietnamese food and flavors unavailable in American stores. The service is quick and organized. I'll return in the future.

J L

Google
This little supermarket has a lot of Vietnamese items that can’t be found in the other supermarkets.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for balut and nem chua, and after chatting with a local banh mi store owner, they pointed me to Tan Tin-Hung Supermarket. It's a small, tightly spaced market, but it's packed with all the Southeast Asian items I've been searching for! They have a wide selection of local Southeast Asian groceries and even offer premade food. It's a great spot if you're craving authentic ingredients or ready-to-eat meals from the region. FYI: They're closed on Thursdays, so plan your visit accordingly!

Stella A.

Yelp
Prices are generally good. But BEWARE they sell food that are expired. Chinese grandma and grandpa who shop here might not be checking this. For example, this product I saw expired 7/16/25. That's 16 months ago.

Cher Y.

Yelp
2 stars for banh Chung. The Banh Chung's fat/lean pork ratio was so off! They had very little mung bean filling and no pandam flavor whatsoever, plus along with slight yet obvious rotten taste followed. They were Just extremely SAD Banh Chung. I was quite excited that I found Bach Chung in NYC! I thought I no longer needed to fly to Dallas to get them at Viet Tofu. What a pity I was deadly wrong. Anyway, I only hope other frozen sticky coconut rice cake packages would be decent. Update today: 5 stars for sweet sticky rice cake packages. They are so delicious!!! Steam them and serve. Coconut, mung beans and pandam all gently oozing into your mouth layer by layer. Simply irresistible!

Yelp
Not many Viet-based grocery stores in NYC. I always make the trek from Brooklyn to here. Has most, if not all, items I'm looking for. Great location as well. Can always grab a Chinatown snack after.

Phuong D.

Yelp
One of the few supermarkets in New York that specializes in Vietnamese groceries. I found that most other supermarket in chinatown has a very limited selection of Vietnamese goods while this place has a more extensive selection, especially the seasoning section. Prices are typical for New York. The fresh produce is unfortunately limited but other supermarkets in the area have a good selection of those. I mainly come here for seasonings and pantry staples.

Olive O.

Yelp
Great spot for quick weekend grabs. They have ALL the instant noodle brands, and fresh nem chua! The freezer is always stocked with good staples, and the cashiers get you in and out FAST!

AT N.

Yelp
My go to Vietnamese supermarket in NYC (tbh, perhaps the last one still standing in Chinatown with a comprehensive selection.) It has everything that I need though and then some --good prepared foods as well if I'm craving nem chua, cơm rượu, bánh da lợn, etc. Note that the Yelp hours are incorrect. The store opens by 9 am and closes by 6 or 7.

Jessica L.

Yelp
One stop shop for Vietnamese goods!! There items are inexpensive and come in many different varieties. The employees are also nice and the place is kept clean. I usually buy the pho soup seasoning (which is only 50 cents compared to other places where it is $1+). They have such a wide selection of sauces and it is so easy to end up buying a bunch of them without breaking the bank! Just recently I bought pandan essence, which I was contemplating for a while. At the low price of $1.75, I had to get it! I can't wait to come back and buy more interesting stuff that I can use in cooking or baking. Snacks are also very cheap. Definitely stop by here if you are in the area and you will not be disappointed by what you find.

Yelp
I googled "Vietnamese grocery store" and this was the first store that came up, so I went. I wanted to try making pho at home so I was looking for the ingredients (I had pho earlier that day and I thought I'd forget about making pho at home, but it actually made me want to make pho at home even more. It would be nice if I could make it at home rather than having have to trek over to Flushing/Chinatown area every time I have a craving, which happens often). The narrow aisles were packed with many sauce and ingredients that I've never heard of. It was a bit challenging to find the ingredients that I was looking for, but it was fun to explore and find interesting products. In the end, I was able to find two products that I was looking for - pho spice set with gauze pouch (with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise) and pho noodles. It was most difficult to find the right pho noodles because there were so many. But when I asked the staff, he was very kind and let me know that I can choose from either the refrigerated wet noodles or the dry noodles. Staff's english may be limited but they were very much willing to help out, and I really appreciated the attitude. The ingredients are all super cheap, similar to other supermarkets in Chinatown. Chinatown supermarkets tend to close early these days, so I recommend going in the morning if possible, especially since the neighborhood is packed on afternoon weekends. Credit card is accepted with $10+ purchase. Also my mom and I were raving about how fresh the bean sprouts are - they are generally great quality if you get them in Chinatown compared to the packaged ones sold by Amazon Fresh or the Japanese grocery stores. The bean sprouts in Chinatown comes in bigger portion and are cheaper. Definitely recommend them 100%.

Yelp
It's so hard to find a viet grocery store in NYC, so I'm happy I stumbled across this place. The workers are pretty friendly and they have a decent selection of products. They don't have much produce, but they do carry more Vietnamese groceries than the bigger markets around. Also, the prices are better and the checkout line is much shorter as well. Currently they're open from 9-6pm so it's a bit harder to stop shop on the weekdays

Henry T.

Yelp
The quarters are tight, but they have just about anything you'd expect an Asian supermarket to have plus more here. This is my go-to spot to grab Cafe Du Monde coffee. It is reasonably priced and they don't charge an arm and a leg for a can like they do at western supermarkets. Also a nice spot to grab hard-to-find Asian/Vietnamese snacks, desserts, and treats.

Rex W.

Yelp
PURCHASED: Fish sauce ($***) + Maggi ($***) + Rice ($***) TOTAL: $ PROS: + Vietnamese ingredients: There are plenty of Vietnamese ingredients. CONS: - no credit card: You cannot use your credit card. There is an ATM across the street they will point you towards. IMPRESSION: I can hear Vietnamese be spoken by the 3 ladies working in the front.

Nicole N.

Yelp
Tan Tin-Hung Supermarket is a small Asian grocery store with Vietnamese imported products. I came to look for banh tet (sticky rice cake) and banh da lon (steamed layer cake) but unfortunately, they were sold out of those items most likely because of the shopping rush prior to lunar new year. The supermarket is very small with aisles that allow only one person to pass and no shopping carts. Even though Tan Tin-Hung does not have the square footage, there are thousands of items including specialty hard-to-find sauces, frozen cured meats, and various types of flour for Vietnamese cooking.

A L.

Yelp
Is the store permanently closed? I stopped by at 11:30 am and the store is not open. Great place for vietnamese products. Really if it's close.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Don't expect wide, uber organized aisles here. It's a no thrills kind of food shopping experience in Manhattan's Chinatown. That being said, you can snag hard to find Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai and Filipino food products for a steal at this little supermarket that could. Case in point, a jar of Lau Gan Ma spicy chilli crisp had a price sticker of $2.45. You can't get that kinda price at an H Mart!

Debora C.

Yelp
This supermarket carries the most hard to find Southeast Asian goods. From pandan coconut mung bean desserts, to sticky rice with pork or peanuts, to lemongrass, this little shop stocked to the brim with affordable incredibleness, never ceases to amaze me. I visited on a bustling Sunday evening. My Cantonese is weak, but the cashier was the epitome of patience despite my incessant interrogation into four different sticky rice products and a myriad of desserts. She even gave me a handy tip about the savory pork filled sticky rice log. Through it all, she didn't ever pressure me to buy anything. I was further impressed to be able to find mangosteen juice, soursop juice, and passion fruit juice with real bits and seeds of passion fruit at the refrigerators across from the cashiers at the front. Love this market!

Jan Y.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for ingredients for South East Asian cuisine. They have absolutely everything! One star less because it could have better presentation but the store is great otherwise! The prices are also very competitive, comparably to larger Asian markets. The people working there are very friendly and willing to explain what things are which is rare but appreciated! And FYI they do accept credit cards. Including AE.

Hannah Y.

Yelp
This grocery store is my Filipino food helper!! I found my frozen ube, langka, saba, nata de coco, sago, and more Vietnamese equivalents of Filipino sweets! It's no Pacific Super, but it does help with some items! Recommendations for where I can find coconut strings, ube jam, kaong, or whole ube, are very appreciated!!

Huy N.

Yelp
The info about Hours and day of open are TOTALLY WRONG at YELP here ! They only open from 9am-6 pm and CLOSE on Thursday !

Lynn V.

Yelp
From Vietnamese to Thai products, this place is stocked with all the East and Southeast Asian spices you need to make your meals delicious. It's cash only! The store is not as big as other markets in Chinatown but it's well stocked in my opinion and had more spices I could ever find in other markets. There are about three aisles and household appliances all the way in the back. Fresh produce are in front of the store, so grab them on your way in. They do have lots of frozen noodles, fish balls, meats, etc. too. Went here to get banh tet for the lunar year and they have it right when you enter. There is the traditional one with meat, chay (vegetarian), and two sweet options with and without banana. Prices are comparable to what you get in California. I got two! The ladies working the cashier were very helpful and they speak Vietnamese and Chinese. It was a nice feeling to hear Vietnamese and actually having the chance to speak Vietnamese in this city after being here for so long. I'm definitely coming back here to get ingredients to make more viet food.

Kat N.

Yelp
Staff so help and friendly. Help you out when you clueless. Great prices. Have a little of very things

John Y.

Yelp
This is my go to place to buy my Southeast Asian ingredients. You can get Vietnamese and Thai foods and spices that you can't find at other places in Chinatown. This place does not accept credit cards so bring cash or use your debit card. The prices are also very competitive and lower than other bigger supermarkets like Hong Kong market or China market.

Kimmie N.

Yelp
This is the best grocery store in New York City for your Southeast Asian needs. I buy all my ingredients for Vietnamese food here, and they have never disappointed me. I hope they weather out this virus because I will dump my money here when this is all over. And speaking of money, this store has the most reasonable prices in all of New York City. I leave the store with multiple tote bags of food and snacks, and I don't think I've ever spent more than $100. Highly recommend, even more than Hong Kong Supermarket.

Nicole T.

Yelp
NO CREDIT CARD Cheap vietnamese brands that I can't find anywhere else. From banh xeo mixes to all types of dry noodles, you can find all the ingredients youneed to whip up some vietnamese homecooking. Bought pho noodles here for $1.35. I usually cook with pho tuoi (frozen) back at home in Texas, but you gotta do with what you have. Will try cooking it tonight and see how it goes.

Raymond W.

Yelp
The absolute best place to find vietnamese products, spices, meat, etc. While not as large as some more well known grocery stores in Chinatown, it is much less crowded and they stock the more common/popular items. It serves more as a limited supermarket because they don't seem to sell fresh food (vegetables, seafood, etc)

Sophia L.

Yelp
This place has every southeast Asian herb I can't find in the other Chinatown grocery stores. They also carry all of my favorite sweets. It's the only store that seems to carry rau ram in Manhattan

Hl H.

Yelp
Small grocery store but has all the necessary items to cook all the main Vietnamese dishes. Friendly staffs too.

Lisa Marie K.

Yelp
I love love this market they have everything Asian spices and very good prices I definitely recommend

PhechPloy Patt P.

Yelp
This supermarket is a dream for Asian people. Everything are cheaper than another supermarket. You can find almost anything such as ingredients for Asian food, ready to go food or some snacks. The lady at cashier is always nice to you. This is my 1st place when I need ingredients for my Thai recipes.

Julie B.

Yelp
This place has what you need. I swear they do - you know that interesting vietnamese ingredient you weren't able to find at the big hong kong market on Hester street? This is where you get it. Culantro, awesome stretchy fresh vietnamese rice noodles, the right pate for making banh mi plus all the standard sauces and basic pantry items you can get in most markets. For some recipes, the right vietnamese fish sauce or oyster sauce actually makes a big difference so I recommend you check this market out to fill your pantry.

Sonia N.

Yelp
Came in here today to get thai basil. I grabbed a prepackaged bag, took it to one of the cashier ladies and asked how much it was. She replied "$1.75". I gave her $1.80 expecting a nickel back, but she just closed the register and gave me a blank stare as if daring me to bring up the nickel. Hahahah!! Such pluck! Her poker face was totally classic and completely did me in; I left the store giggling. Highlight of my afternoon! The thai basil was super fresh, by the way.

Tina C.

Yelp
Fruits are fresh but overall not great quality. With a party of two, we purchased eight large oranges for $5.00. No further comment ado.

JT T.

Yelp
Practically the only place where you can find Vietnamese groceries in NYC! A lot of the items/groceries I remember having as a child are all located here. Prices are cheap and great place to get pho tuoi and cha lua! They don't accept cards so make sure to get some cash before you head there!

Michelle C.

Yelp
I work in the Chinatown area, so I pretty much grocery shop every other day..and tan ting-hung is always one of the places i'll stop by once-twice-sometimes three times-a week. It has almost everything you could ever want for a southeast asian pantry--all the variety of fish sauces, coconut milks, pho spices, curries, etc--and for the most REASONABLE prices. I've found that they pretty have the cheapest prices around chinatown compared to a lot of other small shops here, so when in doubt I'll come here to buy pantry staples. They pack a lot of variety into a long, narrow store, and just when I'm not sure if they have what i'm looking for, I happen to find it in there. You just have to look for it. The ladies that work there always seem so cheerful and happy as well, most of them can speak a little english so don't be afraid to ask them to see if they have an item in stock. They are open every day except thursdays (covid hours). It's about time I wrote a review for this place!

Tony J.

Yelp
Always nice to have another option for a Asian supermarket. For most packaged items, the prices are more or less the same as Hong Kong Supermarket and just a hair above Po Wing Hong. Some things here are worth coming for though, like the Maesri thai curry pastes, which have greater variety and are cheaper than other places in the area ($1.15). This place also has tiny 5.5-ounce cans of coconut milk for $0.85, which are great for South Indian curries which use a bit of coconut milk but don't require the whole can (or several) like most Thai curries. Paying a bit more per unit is better than buying a regular can for $1.30 and not knowing what to do with the rest of it (which spoils in a week after being opened). They also have a good selection of Vietnamese jackfruit/taro chips. The one reason why I don't come here more often is that it's cash only.

Helen C.

Yelp
It's not a big supermarket, but they have all sorts of Vietnamese food goodies, from vermicelli (the real kind, according to the boyfriend) to ham to instant coffee. Most of all, they had Vietnamese chung cake in time for Lunar New Year! We paid with cash.

Despina S.

Yelp
my favorite store for thai curry pastes and vietnamese cahn soup base and noodles. unbeatable prices as well!

Hoang Mai P.

Yelp
If you want Vietnamese brands and food products, I highly recommend this one. Ever since I got an instant pot, I've been trying all kinds of viet dishes but it's impossible to replicate my moms recipes without the ingredients. This place had everything I was looking for and reminded me of my moms home cooked food. Definitely recommend if you live in the city and need viet ingredients!

Jean-Jacques D.

Yelp
Giving it 5 stars because it is practically the only place in the whole city where I could find vietnamese products such as cha gio, banh tet, or nem chua! They are cash only.

Stephen L.

Yelp
All the essential Asian ingredients you need in NY. SMALL but yet it has all the brands you need coming from 626 San Gabriel, CA

Thomas H.

Yelp
Great grocery store and one of the only places in NYC I can find Vietnamese items. Friendly staff that are always happy to help you find what you are looking for.

Christian L.

Yelp
Amazing place for anything Vietnamese. They also carry Nuoc Cham (fish sauce) from Vietnam, the very tasty Red Boat, (500ml for $8.25 vs. $12.99 for 250ml at Kalustyan's), and another quite decent one I can't recall the brand of for about 3 bucks. Very good stuff and a big step up from the Thai ones.

N B.

Yelp
As a Vietnamese person, I just need to say that this is a VIETNAMESE grocery store - not generic "Southeast Asian" or even "Pan-Asian-Chinese" as some other reviewers have stated. Yeesh. That being said, they have a pretty decent selection of Vietnamese products that I really can't find at a Chinese, Japanese or any other "Pan Asian" generic grocers. The only thing that would really impress me is if they started stocking some Vietnamese pate!

Toan N.

Yelp
I highly recommend Tan Tin Hung for all of your Vietnamese cooking needs. Their prices are reasonable and you can get just about anything to whip up a Vietnamese dish. Their che (Vietnamese dessert) selection is by far more than any other establishments in Manhattan. My favorite is the Che Xoi Nuoc. It reminds me of home. The cashiers are always eager to ring you up. They are friendly and service is somewhat speedy. There is usually a man standing in front of the cashiers directing traffic. It can get pretty crowded and chaotic when it's a full house. Remember to stock up on your Vietnamese ingredients prior to the Lunar New Year because Tan Tin Hung closes for almost a week at the onset of the holiday.

G L.

Yelp
This is my go to place for any and all of my vietnamese grocery needs in Manhattan (and possibly in the entire city). They carry plenty of frozen cha (fish paste), nem chua (sour vietnamese sausage), lap xuong (chinese sausage, & my fav brand from California), banh trang (rice paper), and other great pantry staples. There is che near the cashier, too. Around new year this is also THE spot for vietnamese to get their new year candies, banh chung, and banh tet. Though the quality to me is standard compared to what I can find in California, it's nice to have a place to buy it all out here. The store is pretty tight and sometimes the produce doesn't look at its prime. But it is cheap nonetheless and the cashiers are always so sweet. Check it out if you're in need of some nuoc mam (fish sauce)!

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Best supermarket in Chinatown. Very good SE Asian variety -- only place where we could find frozen cassava among other things. Helpful staff and low prices to boot!

Hunt W.

Yelp
Super friendly folks. Real honest shop owners; I asked the guy for his recommendation on several items and never once did he try to steer me towards the most expensive brand. I primarily buy my sriracha and lemongrass from here. They specialize in Vietnamese grocery items so those items are freshest here with a high turn around on shelves.

Danny O.

Yelp
Unlike Chi N., below - I have absolutely no idea how to cook Asian food. The closest I've managed was Thai Green Curry Fish, a dish suited for the Helen Keller School of Culinary Arts. I have a great appreciation for this Chinatown grocer, nonetheless. Unlike one of its neighbors down the street (who's name and exact location I repressed after witnessing a rat jump out of a box of ramen), Tan Tin-Hung remains somewhat tidy. It's the only place in the city that I've found to carry freshly made Khao Phoht Piak - a Thai dessert made with tapioca, sweet corn and coconut milk. If you don't mind the consistency of caviar, I'd highly recommend it. Broad selection of noodles, grass jelly / congee drinks, spices, and cashiers who would clearly prefer catering to an entirely Asian clientele.

Thuy V.

Yelp
One word: Cheap! The 28 oz. Sriracha sauce from Tan Tin Hung costs $2.80. At my neighborhood Chinese market: $3.50. At neighborhood market in Bed-Stuy: more than $5. Just look at the price tags on the pictures I posted and see for yourself. If you find other places that have cheaper prices, I would like to know :) Note: I took those pictures prices in Nov. 2014.
