If you're looking for a respectful and energetic venue, then Tandoor Char House is the place. The atmosphere is very upbeat and inviting. The the staff are very attentive, professional and courteous. The owner made an appearance quite a few times, and is very down to earth. And did i mention the food, this place takes a unique approach on Indian cuisines, and i absolutely love it. I've been ordering for quite a few years now, and can i say that the Tandoor Char House Never Disappoints💪🏾🔥

Ordered pick up through Uber Eats and got the Chicken Tikka Masala, BOGO Garlic Naan and BOGO veggie samosas. Large portions, good flavor and great deal for the price!

Unfortunately this did not live up to the expectations I had given the menu pricing and fun fusion options available. The butter chicken was dry (sauce was excellent tho). The lamb was mediocre and the chana masala was lacking flavor. The naan wasn't as fluffy as expected (that may be a preference thing though). To be fair the portions were decent sized, but there's only so much dry chicken I want to eat anyways. If this priced more competitively, it would be a 5 star review. But for the price I expect better. Service was excellent, staff was super nice and food was ready when we got there!

This place seems to have lost its lustre. I’ve ordered from this place a number of times but the last couple occasions the lamb or meat dishes in the curry haven’t been cooked through or just appear to be stale. The tandoori chicken is generally always on point.

I love Tandoor Chat but holy cow, this place is SLOW! I’ve ordered from this location twice and both times I showed up when they told me it would be ready and still waited for an additional 15-20 minutes! Honestly, I don’t care if food takes a little while to make, that’s how you know it’s good! But just SAY that it’s gonna take 45 minutes and not 25 minutes. I’m really disappointed because again, the food is fantastic but that doesn’t excuse the service being pretty bad :/

I ordered via Uber eats. Someone at the restaurant called me to say they didn’t have the mango cheesecake. They asked if I wanted to substitute which I did not so I asked for a refund. The person who called me told me they would make sure I got a refund. Not only did I not get a refund , they marked the item off on the receipt indicating it was given to me. So because of that , Uber won’t refund my money and this restaurant got to get my $12. Why would I have a call from them via an Uber eats number if they didn’t call me ? Excellent customer service 😒

I had a fantastic dining experience at this charming family-owned restaurant. From the very first bite, it was clear that the food was prepared with authenticity and care. The Paneer Pakora, perfectly crispy on the outside and paired with a vibrant, flavorful mint chutney, was a standout appetizer. My partner, who is of Pakistani heritage, was thoroughly impressed by the Seekh Kabob, praising its rich spices and tender texture. As for my main dish, the tandoori shrimp was cooked to perfection--succulent, smoky, and bursting with flavor. Came here for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. We got the restaurant week menu. I got the shrimp pakora as an appetizer, the lamb karahi as an entree with the Chana masala (chickpea with onions and masala) as a side, and the mango cheesecake for desert. My bf had the vegetarian samosa, chicken tikka masala for an entree with the mutter paneer (cheese and peas in masala) as a side and a gulab jamun (fried donut hole in syrup) as a dessert. We also had the chicken empanadas as an appetizer. Everything was amazing. The lamb karahi reminded me of the Mexican dish "birria" and it was so delicious. The serving was really big too. The chicken tikka masala was so flavorful. You can never go wrong with the samosa it was so good. The shrimp pakora was just good. I wish I had ordered the mutter paneer as a side because it was so delicious. The chickpeas were great but cloying after a while. The mango cheesecake was the star of the show! I loved it!!! The gulab jamun was very sweet and doughy. We got there at the right time because the small restaurant was so packed. The service is a little slow but it was very busy last night so it might not always be that way. I'm happy I tried this restaurant as I always drive by it and their sign always called my attention. I will definitely come back to try more items off the menu.

I ordered via Uber so I'm unsure which store my food came from, but I am extremely disappointed. The Chicken Tikka Masala was mild. However that was the wrong decision because apparently if it's not spicy then there is no flavor, and the chicken was dry. The Lamb Karhai was also ordered mild. It was definitely not mild. My sinuses are still running away. However the lamb was perfectly cooked and the flavor was great. The best part was the Garlic Naan if you don't count that more than half was burnt. Tandoori Chicken empanadas crust was perfect. The chicken was extremely dry. The tikka masala sauce was needed, but don't get mild. I found it interesting that my meal didn't come with rice or naan when I spent over $20 for meat and sauce. It makes me miss Phoenix even more. Desserts: Pistachio Kulfi was interesting because it didn't even taste like pistachio and the almond ice cream had a fake taste to it. Mango Cheesecake was even more disappointing. The ginger cookie crust was mushy and not crispy like you are hoping for. The mango was barely noticeable when in comparison to the cheesecake itself. Now Hawaii does an amazing mango cheesecake! I'm hoping that this restaurant had a bad day. So I'm not going to say don't go there. I'll say eat at your own risk. It's your money and if you are going to spend it make sure you go somewhere worth your while and your hard earned cash.

Ordered from Grubhub. Absolutely excellent. The main was a chicken biryani, which I thought might be overpriced at around $20. As a biryani fan, I was completely wrong - most are tasty, but a touch dry, often dominated by the rice, plus they tend to skimp on the protein (and sometimes the seasoning!). This dish features a light butter chickenish sauce smothered with rice and a perfect amount of chicken. After a bit of mixing, it ended up as my favorite biryani in the city. And the portion size is huge! Also got some paneer pakora and garlic naan. The pakora was wonderful - fried well with a proper well seasoned breading. And they understand the key to pakora - it's delicious as long as you salt it aggressively! The naan was excellent as well, just the right amount of char. Lastly, the sauces included were plentiful and flavorful. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend. And to the owner - no need for an in depth response, just keep making good food like you are!

Great Indian food in Chicago. They now have ghost kitchens in different parts of the city where food can be picked up quickly. Good service and unique flavors. I recommend this place!

The food here is amazing! Indian fusion style dishes along with some traditional choices. In addition to the food being delicious they are very consistent and the quality has never gone down. The owner was very kind and the service from the staff is always great. Great decor and a relaxing ambiance perfect for a dinner with family, friends, or a significant other. As a plus the food is halal! I have also ordered delivery/pick up and never had any issues with my food. Highly recommend!

First of all, I am really happy that a new restaurant moved into where Takorea Cocina used to be. It's been sad to see several West Town/Ukrainian Village establishments close the last couple of years, and the last thing I want is this area of town to lose out because of crappy economic conditions-inflation and the Pandemic. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (at Spicy, since I love a good kick) with the garlic naan, plus the gulab jamun for dessert. I got a call from the restaurant that the latter was unfortunately sold out, so ended up with a slice of chocolate cake, which was excellent, so no disappointment there. The sauce for the Chicken Tikka was very good-just the right balance of flavor and spice for me, and perfect for dipping the garlic naan in. The naan was flavorful by itself and had a good level of crispness without being dried out. The only real shortcoming was the chicken. Was a bit too chewy for my liking. But overall a really positive experience and I'll definitely be coming back here.

I dig the smartness of a pickup and delivery joint! I'd like to see more models like this in the neighborhood.I'm not well versed about Indian cuisine but I categorize the palak paneer as a go to comfort dish I'll eat again and again. The sauce is rich and complex with generous pieces of paneer. Don't skimp: be sure to order some naan and house made chutneys- There's always plenty for lunch the next day if I don't eat it for breakfast My only advice would be, please replace the small foam containers with "Chinese take-out" boxes. We'll be back for more.

I just received the worst takeout ever from Tandoori. I ordered a lamb kabob wrap and it was completely burned -- inedible. It wasn't charred, it was charcoal. Even the naan was blackened. I had been so looking forward to havining an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood and was thinking about what to order next. What an unbelievable disappointment. I can only think that the fact that it was take away led this to be served at all.

We had a phenomenal take out meal from Tandoor Char House, and will definitely return. Frontier Chicken (thighs, peppers, onion, spicy) was one of the best Indian entrees I've ever had. We got sides of Kachumber salad (yum fresh and perfectly seasoned), naan, Raita and Achar. Achar side is particularly unique, and Raita was perfect as well. Great food!

Excellent. Very well done. I read some reviews on grubhub that weren't good. This is what happens when you watch the food network and have an ig as a "foodie." And know nothing about food. Ah, we all don't need a voice or an opinion. The dummies are loud online. This place is excellent. If you don't like the butter chicken please move out of my neighborhood. Get back to Schaumburg. I decided. It's great. Mahalo

OMG so much delicious! You honestly can't go wrong with anything, we ordered, Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Saag Lamb, Butter Chicken, Veggie Samosas, Tandoori Chicken, Tamarind Wings, Chaat fries and the Naan sampler. I'm still having trouble picking which was my favourite. If you order the fries do yourself a solid and ask for a side of tikka masala sauce to put over them. Better yet, order the lamb tikka masala and bour that over them instead of rice. There were 5 of us and there was plenty for full dinner the next night. Price point I feel is spot on for the extreme high quality you get. They definately make the dishes FRESH per order rather than pulling from a large vat of sauces and adding which ever protein you ordered like some places I've been to. The spinach dishes still tasted like fresh spinach, not simmered down frozen blech. I was first introduced to Tandoor Char House at one of the many festivals that took place over the summer, they were at a lot of them so I'm very excited for the new location to be just a few blocks from where we live.

These guys just opened up in place of a restaurant that I liked, so I was hesitant, but they were highly recommended by friends. BOY am I glad Tandoor opened up around the corner from my place! The tikka is phenomenal and the wings are exceptional. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Ukrainian Village/ Humboldt Park area

The owner is the nicest man and the food is always consistently delicious!! We're so happy to have Tandoor in the neighborhood-- it has become our favorite go-to!
