"There are some occasions when we all want to enjoy a special meal and this restaurant within the confines of the luxury Palácio Tangará hotel, an urban oasis surrounded by tropical vegetation in the heart of the Parque Burle Marx, would be the perfect setting. It is overseen by French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten who reigns over a culinary empire made up of over forty businesses. Resident chefs Filipe Rizzato and Neusi Machado offer serious international cuisine featuring contemporary dishes that focus first and foremost on delicacy and pure flavours. The menu, with specific sections dedicated to caviar, raw dishes and vegetarian and vegan options (asparagus risotto, Puy lentils etc) is complemented by two tasting menus (one of which is vegetarian). There’s also an exclusive Chef’s Table in the kitchen, plus live music in the hotel lobby each evening, making it a pleasant option for a drink." - Michelin Inspector

Tangará Jean-Georges

"It’s impossible to talk about this restaurant – which has a separate personality from the Palácio Tangará hotel in which it is housed – without making reference to its owner, the French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, whose culinary empire now includes over 30 restaurants worldwide. The presentation of his cuisine, with its contemporary nuances and sophisticated techniques, continues to surprise and amaze. The superb chef’s table, seating up to 16 guests, is a highlight." - Michelin Inspector

Classic Jean-Georges with excellent service and great food. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and they do a good job of making sure all the staff know your name when coming to your table. I will certainly be back. Please be mindful it is inside the hotel grounds that are well protected and behind what feels like a forest...don't attempt to walk here. Lol

Great place for fine dining. Enjoyed the food, which was delicious, but found that it fell a little short of its Michelin rating and price. The staff was great. The fixed menu was ten courses with a good variety.

Two Michelin Stars...? If I had eaten this meal blindfolded I would have guessed it didn’t come from anywhere special. The plate seriously lacked creativity in both ingredients and presentation and the flavors were pretty much akin to what you would savor at any above par restaurant. The service was terrible... we had ordered drinks at the bar which took five minutes to be brought to our table and my glass remained empty for over five minutes on two occasions whilst I sent someone to look for my waiter to bring us our bottle back. I was really disappointed in the whole experience and for what they charge it really wasn’t worth it at all. I have no idea how it has received the star on two occasions. The only thing that was good was the wine which wasn’t prepared by the chef and I had to request to have my glass refilled! Huge disappointment to the extent where I’m questioning Michelin!!!

The service is professional, the ambience is elegant, the menu is traditional, but the ingredients are good.

Too expensive for the quality of food. I ordered the ravioli with truffle and they basically just ocerloaded it with truffle and the raviolis were undercooked. It just tasted like cheesy dirt! I ate it cuz it was super expensive, but I definitely did not enjoy it at all. The desert was amazing but a super tiny proportion, and the drinks were ok. I definitely could have eaten much better, with bigger portions and better quality for more than half the price! Im not sure where the michielin star came from, but it definitely wasn't from the food. Hence why I encourage people to stop being michelin or top review zombies and trust your taste buds not stars! This place was a huge let down!

Yelp
I was excited to come this restaurant after hearing great things about it. Overall I had a good experience. Here is the breakdown: Decor/ ambiance: Very chic restaurant with very classy taste and decor The tables were spaced out decently giving that needed social distancing Covid measurements: They did provide towels to clean our hands Social distancing reinforce Everyone must wear mask unless seated All staff wearing mask and gloves Service Very courteous team and very prompt in the service Food The food was guy. We tried the tasting menu, but nothing blew me away. The dishes were well made, very good presentation but felt like any normal good restaurant with good food but nothing memorable Wow factor It was missing. When I think about Jean George's other restaurants especially in NY, I miss that wow factor in the São Paulo restaurant Overall Despite not having that wow factor or that memorable food, I did had a good experience on a combination of nice setting and service with a good food.

Yelp
I loved my experience at Tangará Jean-Georges, which I visited while on a recent work trip to São Paulo. The restaurant is situated inside the beautiful Palácio Tangará Hotel, which is in the tree-lined and mansion-dotted area near Parque do Morumbi. We rolled past gorgeous, classic homes and other five-star hotels as we pulled up to the hotel's gates. Upon entering the dining room, we found that we were the only people there, but this was to be expected given that our dinner reservation was before 8 PM. Most people started to come in only after 9 PM, in accordance with usual Paulistano dining time. The dining room is nicely appointed in a contemporary style and is tastefully elegant without being overdone. We were swiftly greeted by several different staff members, one of whom presented us with the wine list. My colleague and I enjoyed a Franc Beausejour and a Terrazas Malbec. The couvert was a combo of rye, ciabatta, and rosemary foccacia (!) breads with butter and EVOO. Simple but bold in flavor, I liked this dish because the butter was actually spreadable, rather than that very hard butter that never plays well with any bread. We moved on to appetizer salads (Salada de Folhas Mistas), which I have to say is the BEST salad I have had anywhere in the world, hands down. The dish itself was beautifully presented, an explosion of colors. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the truffle vinaigrette, but it was a match made in heaven. The salad also had a great mix of greens and radicchio and was perfectly dressed. I'm still dreaming about this salad! I had the filet mignon as my main dish, and I've been blessed to enjoy this cut at many places around the globe, and this is one of the best preparations I can remember. It comes with truffled potatoes--are you seeing a theme here--but not overdone in the least. Tangará Jean-Georges takes balance seriously while still appreciating bold and complementary flavors. My colleague ordered the organic chicken, which in name is not an exciting dish, but she raved about it. It came with heart of palm and a shiitake mushroom sauce. The whole experience, from start to finish, was excellent. The only sad part was when we had to leave!

Yelp
Excellent food. Every dish was amazing. The ravioli in particular was great. I liked that they had many vegetarian options. But pricey and fancy for my taste, but the food was incredible.
