Tango Restaurant and Lounge Closes After 19 Years on Capitol Hill | Eater Seattle

"A longtime Capitol Hill tapas favorite, Tango Restaurant and Lounge was known for its paellas, intimate atmosphere, and a killer spicy dessert called El Diablo (a cake made with chocolate and cayenne pepper). After 19 years the restaurant announced its closure, posting “Well, Seattle … I’m afraid we’ve had our last dance” on Facebook; owner Travis Rosenthal said sales were starting to go down while costs continued to rise, and he noted that all Tango staff were offered jobs at the group’s sister restaurants. Located on the corner of Boren Avenue and Pike Street, it provided a reliable date spot with a strong happy hour and was described by The Stranger as “posh, but comfortable” with a “cute and varied crowd,” while Seattle Met gushed over El Diablo and the “intelligent food, crisply executed.”" - Gabe Guarente

We stopped into Bar Tango for our anniversary and had such a great time. The whole place has that warm, lively Spanish vibe, and the sangria was perfect. But the real highlight of the night was our server, Selena. She went out of her way to make everything feel special, and she was truly the delight of our evening. We left feeling so grateful to have had her taking care of our table. Highly recommend both the bar and asking for Selena!

Went tonight! Gorgeous new jewel box space, good mix of bar and intimate table seating, menu’s great (we ordered all the hot tapas, plus the cheese board, and shrimp gambas — all great), and service was terrific

Very good paella. We went for my wife's birthday and she LOVED it (and she is vegan and gluten free). They had no problem accommodating her preference. It's a bit pricey for what it is, but the paella was very very flavorful. We had a great time, and the service was very good.

Great food and service. Went for happy hour and they have some good deals. Only "con" is I didn't know about the 20% service charge.

Food was fantastic. Service, not so much. We came on a regular, non-busy, Wednesday night with almost 2 hours to spare before closing. Food came out fast after ordering it, but service was so slow that I think the sloths from the movie Zootopia would've done a better job. Also they kept forgetting our drinks, to come back with the menu, etc. They forgot our drinks. And one of our drinks orders was incorrect. It took about 20 minutes to fix the drink order when there was no more than 6 customers in the restaurant. They have a 20% service fee, so we did not feel another tip was necessary... Nor do I think I would've tipped over 15% for this level of service. We give 3 stars because the food was good, but we left a bit irritated.

Nice location and atmosphere with a good selection of tapas. The food was good. However, the portions are on the small side, the prices are not. Worst of all, there's a 20% charge added to every bill (yes, even if you eat alone).
