"Tank Kitchen & Bar debuted this month at 4706 W. Irving Park Road in a space that previously housed millinery institution Hats Plus, which closed in 2018 after more than 30 years. At 4,000 square feet, Tank Kitchen & Bar maintains many of the offerings that made the Uptown original a success, including pho, congee, and boba tea, but is introducing bar service for the first time, according to Block Club Chicago. Patrons can expect fruity tropical cocktails and local draft beers, as well as new entries like roasted chicken fries, spring rolls with Vietnamese spices, and Lollapalooza Sriracha fries." - Naomi Waxman

Tank Noodle serves up devious Pho with slurpy noodles that is good for the soul. The prices have skyrocket with a small bowl of Pho costing 15.00 and the XL 18.95. The meat portion was very small and mostly noodles. The Earl Grey Milk Tea was very sweet despite my asking for 1/2 sugar. It also didn’t come with Boba at 7.00 but rather an additional .75 cost and you had to ask for it. Milk tea gets a 2 rating. We also had the Chicken Pho which I was told was good. Three small bowls of Pho and two milk teas 67.00 Prices for a simple bowl of Pho are very expensive. It’s worth supporting a local restaurant but I can’t afford to eat here as much as I’d like.

We love having such a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood! This is one of my family’s favorite places to eat. I always get the Pho. It always comes nice and hot, noodles perfect texture, and meat cooked to perfection. The broth is lovely and the sprouts, basil, etc. are always very fresh. The prices are competitive and the portions are huge! I always get the XL bowl so that way I can take half home to have for lunch the next day. :) Their cocktails are also really good and the presentation is really beautiful. The staff is really nice, which is always a plus. Liem has been our server most visits. He is very attentive and has an energetic and cheerful disposition. He always seems to be having a good time at work. I highly recommend this place!

Just wanted to leave a review on fried rice. Everyone knows their pho is great. Dont sleep on this yang chau special fried rice, it is awesome. When fried rice takes long time to come out, you know its good. A GOOD fried rice actually takes a lot of skill, it requires different layer of flavor added to the rice each time. You need specific rice, thats been cooked and dehydrate so that it each grain can be coated and absorb with flavor. Hence people say, you have to use day old rice, because when its day old and been sitting in refrigerator, its dehydrated. Kudos to chef in charge of fried rice.

Stopped by during work for lunch and ordered two small pho’s, two beverages and a firecracker shrimp. Note the restaurant is completely empty so there is really no excuse to wait 45 minutes for small orders of pho that never came, because our lunch break was over.

We’ve been to a few events hosted at Tank and have really enjoy the service, atmosphere and drinks!

Go here. Just do it. The food couldn’t have been better- the freshness, the flavors, perfectly seasoned… if I lived closer I’d be here weekly. Not pictured what the Pho but just know it was so rich, on point- one of the best I’ve had. Specialty drinks were inventive and yummy. And that bubble waffle dessert made me giggle, it was so creative! Service was excellent, ambiance lively. A delight to have found this little treasure.

Google
I came here for dinner with my husband and went for a variety of appetizers, some drinks, and a shared phở, and loved everything. The coconut milk mussels and five spice quail were particularly tasty, but we also liked the firecracker shrimp quite well. The phở itself was also excellent! Since we went a Monday night it wasn’t super busy and we could be seated with a party of two right away. We also had very attentive service 😊

Wow! I wasn’t aware the food portions were so big. I had the shrimp spring rolls, like 5 lemon spritz 🤭 the veggie soup with noodles 🍜 & added the chicken 🫠 and a shrimp fried rice. Everything was really yummy had to bring it home because was way too much food for Myself only. I appreciated the attentiveness and how my food was packed for home (they packed the broth separately from the noodles and meat) thank you 🙏🏽. Looking forward to trying a different drink & the pho 🤤

Yelp
Mom has been hinting that she wanted to try this place out so finally went and took the family to celebrate the hubby's birthday. The place is very modern and decorated nicely. Halloween just ended so the place was all decked out with spooky decor. We were greeted right away and our server was super friendly and accommodating. For starters we got the spring rolls and papaya salad and both were tasty. I got the sliced beef pho for my main dish. All of the veggies came separate so tbat they were nice and fresh once you put them in the broth. The pho was pretty good and was a nice sized portion. Even the smaller portion in which my daughter ordered was still pretty big! They had meat options such as meatballs, brisket, or sliced beef that you can order with the pho. The restaurant is as divided into 2 sections. Right where you enter is the restaurant that contains the main bar, a tv to watch the game, and tables if you wanted that atmosphere. We dined in on a Sunday night so that part of the restaurant was not that packed. It looked like they just hosted a party there not too recently and the place is big enough for a small reception, birthday party, etc. We were seated on the other side of the restaurant and this is where the most of the people were seated that night. The menu options for dinner were a little scarce, and the majority of the options were mostly soup-like dishes. There were not really any rice dishes that were available and i know the hubby was a little disappointed as that is what he was looking for. Not sure if that is the full menu that is available all day or if it was just a limited menu for dinner? Anywho the workers were really nice and accommodating and I would come back here for the pho and ambiance.

Yelp
I've never had Pho before, but I'm fully converted- SO delicious! We went on a dreary, rainy weeknight, so the restaurant was mostly empty, but it shouldn't have been because it was a PERFECT pho night! The actual restaurant is beautiful, and service was genuine and personable. It's relatively cheap at $13 for a small bowl and $15 for a regular bowl! We thought it was amazing and would definitely return!

Grace R.

Yelp
The BEST Vietnamese food & restaurant I've tried in years. Everything is so fresh! Loved the green papaya salad with shrimp and I ordered the curry tofu noodle soup. Had a pot of Peach Oolong tea. Fabulous meal. And they serve amazing drinks. I'll be back for a happy hour. Can't wait to try the coconut milk mussels and a cocktail. They also have all kinds of boba and juice drinks. Great find. Love the modern & clean look of the restaurant. The servers and everyone seem like family. Very nice and engaging. Really enjoyed our meal here today!

Yelp
We'll this is the first time trying the new location versus by Broadway location. The new location in six corners. Food was ok. Service was slow ambiance is nice a new

Damian P.

Yelp
At one time in life, I went to Tank Noodles on Broadway, prior to the pandemic. It was a vibe and it was something that I wanted to try for so long. I remember that we had the pho at first but were surprised at the plethora of items that came with it. I started off of course with a nice and refreshing Mango dragon fruit juice, that was beyond beautiful. I was happy for course as it wasn't at all super sweet, which at first I thought it would be. Nicely done to the waiter who brought out, he was I believe the nephew of the owner on Broadway. He knew his foods and drinks for sure and was pleasant enough to hang out and speak to us on the founding of this location. For dinner I had to try the combination noodle soup with shrimp that also had a fish cake, veggies and crab meat. I have to admit, I was super surprised at the freshness of the ingredients, this is a plus for me to come back. I also order a side of rish , and they were kind enough to include lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes with it. Nicely done Tank, nicely done. I do enjoy a refreshing start to dinner so this made my day. I have to admit that I am hooked now and will be returning again. I highly recommend them as not only are they kind, but the food seriously takes you to another country. I love it.

Blaise A.

Yelp
We joined another couple for dinner here and it was very pleasant, no reason to give it anything under 5 stars. I had the pork clay pot which was excellent, as were the spring rolls and chicken curry noodle. Everyone enjoyed their meal. There is a long list of fancy cocktails which also were enjoyed by all. The service was very good and friendly, but not overly so; just right. The place itself is nice inside, slightly upscale with a very nice looking bar, and cheerful.

Christina C.

Yelp
We ended up ordering via Grubhub on a lazy day. We really enjoyed the pho that we got. My husband ordered the Tank XL. It came with so many different kinds of beef. The noodles were a bit hard to get to at the bottom of the takeout container. I got a regular pho with tofu. I definitely got a lot of veggies with it. The portions were ample that we were able to have another meal from it! I'd definitely order from here again.

Nolan F.

Yelp
We got shrimp spring rolls for appetizers and I got the XL pho bowl with sliced beef, brisket, meatball, tendon, flank minus tripe. Spring rolls were fragrant, fresh, and tightly packed. Pho broth and meat quality were good but very expensive - $19 pre tax. Regular bowl is $14 pre tax. Service was subpar but not terrible. Food didn't take long to come out but after it did, nobody came back to our table until I waved for the check. Restaurant is clean, wide, and has lots of seating. There's free parking nearby which is a huge plus for any Chicago business.

Yelp
It looks like they have a big menu with lots of choice especially vegan choice and food looks good. been there twice ordered noodle, pho, salad... all tast the same very salty. the beef, chicken or vegetable soup very clear broth but no meat flavor.vegetable and tofu are very fresh. The place is nice and very clean. Food price is on the high side but tolerateable. presentation is good. What can't tolerant is I ordered a ginseng shot. it was $20! it usually cost few $. I checked on menu. there is no price. if they sell that expensive and is off of the menu they should tell me when I order. I went there for a simple lunch for save money turned out Got rip off. without the ginseng shot I may put up with the salty part of the food go there sometime for lunch. but the ginseng shot really kinda killed me. No matter how beautiful it in display it shouldn't cost that much and if u sell that much u should tell me when I order. I didn't ask because I know what it is and had it at few places before all cost less than $5. Feel get tricked.

Kālī J.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. The sizzling crepe changed my life LOL it's so delicious. I always order it without the pork. The Catfish clay pot is my favorite dish at Tank kitchen, so delicious. My mouth is watering thinking about all the flavors. The service is also top tier, they're so attentive and friendly.

Yelp
After a friend and I finished axe throwing we decided to give Tank a try! Let me get into it. The food here, mainly the Pho was amazing. The quality of the broth I have to say was the best I have had in a long time. It was very flavorful and was very clean. Hard to explain what that means but, it was just really good! I do with they had more noodles but, overall I really like the food. The service was great my friend and I were checked with many times and it felt like the staff really cared. The atmosphere was great. The lighting, seating, and the music really was refreshing. I been to other places and it felt seasoned. Tank kitchen and bar was definitely worth it. Overall, I will say five tank a try if you want a really good quality pho!

Yelp
Unfortunately... I had missed my bus. But then, had time to finally try this location. Fortunately, that was the start of a new adventure for me... The Vietnamese Spring Rolls were delicious and the sauce that goes was just right! It was the right amount of fresh, that I didn't want to finish. But my goodness, it's perfect for a day that's rainy, but sunny and beautiful outside. I was able to enjoy their broth with meatballs and tendons. My goodness! I just want expecting the flavor and completely started to regret coming in for a quick bite.... I couldn't stop myself. It was delicious, full of layers of flavor. Definitely hits home. My next quest is to make time to enjoy it respectfully at their establishment. The service was quick, as I was a bit in a hurry. So it was nice they understood. But I know the food is so good, I must hurry back on my day off. (Damn you Ventra, for saying 15 minutes, then suddenly 6 minutes via bus........) The ambience of the building was wide, and refreshing. How can you go wrong with a location that is near convenient transportation, and landmarks. Take my advice. Go there when you can enjoy the experience, because there is quite a lot to absorb. I can't wait to go back and enjoy what more they have to serve. The menu looked good since it had a description of what the dishes had, which made everything even more excitable!

Yelp
Food is always hot and fresh. I've had the wings which were juicy and crispy, the seafood pancake which was yummy, both eggrolls are delicious and the muscles were bomb!! For mains i've had the vermicelli noodles with all the proteins which is always a solid choice. My favorite is the chicken curry with coconut milk is to die for and I always have extras to take home. The boba here is also amazing!!!! I always get the matcha banana smoothie with boba and it's so! good!!!

Bianca R.

Yelp
All of the food was fantastic!!! I even got a free smoothie for checking in through the Yelp app!! I got the mango smoothie with tapioca, amazing! Highly recommend the avocado one as well! Then got the salmon clay pot! Wow!!! Knocked my socks off!! It's the perfect cold winter day meal!! I want to try the cat fish and pork belly next!! Their firecracker shrimp is also delicious! Forewarning about eating the baby chilies!

Lauren Z.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it. They have a really spacious atmosphere along with comfortable seating arrangements. The decor is lovely! The service was good and the food was great. I am getting more acclimated to pho lifestyle and this is top notch pho! You get one free milk tea (with or without boba) upon Yelp! check-in. It was very milky and very delicious! Their tapioca pearls were perfectly bouncy and chewy! Their appetizers were tasty! Firecracker shrimp and their sriracha fries were delicious! Even the smallest plate options filled us up rather quickly. I tried their brisket pho with extra noodles and it was delectable, excellent broth!

Lefai K.

Yelp
I've only had pho one other time, and when I tried it, it wasn't good. But my friend told me that pho can be good, so I decided to give it another try. I found Tank Kitchen & Bar, of course, via Yelp. The place looks new (no idea how old is the place) and there is available street parking. If you're not a fan of parking your car on busy Irving Park road (I wasn't), there is "unofficial" parking on the parking lot right behind the restaurant, where the Jewel Osco is. We were greeted right away and given the liberty of where to seat. The dining area is extremely spacious, and is divided to two areas, with the bar in the middle. There are chairs and tables, as well as booths. We decided to opt in the booths. We ordered: - Fresh spring rolls. We went with the shrimp, and the rolls came with vermicelli noodles, mint, chives, all wrapped up in a semi-translucent rice paper roll. I wasn't a fan of the subtle mint, but the overall roll was good. - Quail. I never had quail before, and this was cut into halfs. The quail came with a salt and pepper dip, which was good. The quail was deep fried and seasoned well. - Oxtail pho. I had to order the oxtail. I love oxtail. Unfortunately, the oxtail was rather chewy. The pho came with 3 pieces and it was OK. But the broth was phenomenal Service as good and the overall food was good. I recommend! BATHROOM REVIEW: Located on the eastern-half of the dining area, in the back, the bathroom was nice and modern and clean. Two urinals, with privacy dividers, and a stall. Overall, good! sit or squat? Sit!

Kelly C.

Yelp
Amazing food, ambiance, and service! I LOVE their broth for the Pho, it's truly amazing. Definitely recommend!

Nadiezhda M.

Yelp
I love the taro boba!! The service is fast and friendly and helpful. Ask for Jone. The vibes are classy and relaxing atmosphere!!! I will definitely will come back for to try the food, looks delicious!!!

Faith M.

Yelp
Was excited to try TANK since the one by Argyle is far from us. Took MIL there for her birthday. Atmosphere - Great! very clean open kitchen with 2 bars. Food - Also very very good, we did find a hair in one of the salads which is a big no no. But the rest of the food was delish. Ordered - Crepe, papaya salad, chicken wrap, pho, anchovy noodles, curry noodles and fried rice special. Service - Could have been so much better. Lacked training. We were 1 of 2 tables. Servers were very nice but we had to call them for EVERYTHING. We were actually served our apps before we got water. They checked on us once in 1.5 hr. (Much longer then we wanted to stay). Bartender was very nice and made another drink when my MIL didn't like the first one. FYI - drinks are strong. Will try again but hoping they do some training! It would change everything! Servers constantly by the kitchen with backs to the dining room.

Cecilia M.

Yelp
5 stars is not enough. The place is beautiful, immaculate, and all the staff are so accommodating. We walked in, one adult with 4 teenagers and even the pickiest of the bunch tried some authentic cuisine (and also ate allllllll the calamari appetizer that was delicious.). Our server Liem was attentive, helpful, and really made our experience a memorable one. They have all kinds of drinks the teens were raving about. We will definitely be back. So happy to have such a tasty option in the neighborhood!

Hector M.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch, had the spring rolls served with a peanut sauce, (Med) beef pho(15) was enough for two, a watermelon/strawberry smoothie with boba($7). Everything was perfect. Waiter was great, very pleasant. Definitely be back.

Meetings By Hour 1.

Yelp
The food is so good. We ordered shrimp papaya salad and beef pho. Very clean. Parking is a few dollars in front

Farida Y.

Yelp
Such a nice place Food is delicious It was my first Vietnamese cuisine experience and I love it It's kind of healthy too

Tracy W.

Yelp
A modern and classier twist to the original Tank noodle but the same amazing Pho and food plus bar and Boba. Now closer to home. Super excited about this second location. They said they will still do delivery through most apps too! Service was great too as usual!

tammy s.

Yelp
Great food and service. I highly recommend this restaurant!! We had the spring rolls which were amazing

Hubaab M.

Yelp
Been going to the original on Broadway for over a decade. When they opened a kitchen here at six corners I had to try it. Got the extra large pho, oolong tea, thai iced tea, shrimp noodles and chicken wings. Our server was so nice and enthusiastic. And honestly the best part of the whole experience. Food was AMAZING. If you live by six corners and don't want to drive all the way east, go here.

Lucy F.

Yelp
Great New place to get your PHO fix. It's beautiful on the inside. The service was great, and the PHO came nice and hot. Come with an empty stomach, and they also have a Bar. I tried the chicken pho, and it was great.

Rebekah S.

Yelp
My hubs can't get enough of this place. Loves the noodle/shrimp salad and he got me the brisket and beef pho. Egg rolls were a nice spin and delish, my pho was fresh and good, too. We're cheering this place on and have thoroughly enjoyed for dine in and carry out.

Howard W.

Yelp
Food is outstanding, service is attentive, drinks and teas are fantastic. The 5spice quail and spring rolls were excellent. The pho and yellow curry chicken soup were over the top. I highly recommend and will be making it a regular stop.

Mekh Z.

Yelp
I like the food portion from this place. I had an Oxtail Pho. Service was totally okay. Neighborhood's new restaurant

Lina N.

Yelp
Amazing food and great drinks my favorite bartender is thein!! Order the noodle salad you won't be sorry

Lorenzo S.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed with my service today. I come here every 2 weeks and get excellent service. Today, I had Gwen and was sooooo disappointed with her service and attitude. I hope that I don't get her the next time I'm here or I will not come back.

Alexa D.

Yelp
Really great food! My second time going there. The fries are great and the firecracker shrimp is a must have. The rice was also very yummy and not greasy. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the service is lack luster. The first time I went the server only came by to give us food didn't ask how anything was. I had gotten his attention to get more water one time. The second time I came it was a little better but still not what you would expect when you're paying about $100 for lunch for 2. Server asked how the food was right when we were paying. It took a long time to get the food and there was no one in the restaurant. Will come back though!

Lin L.

Yelp
The service was amazing, came during happy hour, the food was amazing and the drinks oh my lord! Delicious! I recommend coming 3pm to 5pm for happy hour. There is no wait no lines. Ambiance is calm and comfortable. I do recommend this place. If you don't know about Vietnamese food, just ask! They carry rice and meat plates not just soups!

Sean W.

Yelp
Beautiful space. Great bar with top liquor and beer selection. Same great food! They have a Happy Hour M-F. Try it.

Lenny G.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place and some of the best Vietnamese food I've had. I highly recommend their noodle salad or their Pho. I genuinely have no complaints about this place. Great service, great food and drinks. They were also very mindful of a seafood allergy at our table, which was very reassuring. Would definitely go back.

Winnie D.

Yelp
Was happy to finally have a nice thai restaurant in the neighborhood. Hubby and I had dinner was awesome. Few weeks ago I went to get quick lunch in few minutes was ready. So happy then until now. I went to get spring roll, bubble tea and passion mango cheese cake to go. As soon as I got home and opened the bag the cheesecake was half the size of a regular piece. This wont bother if I didn't pay $7.00 for a very small portion. Its way overpriced! Its disappointing! I tried to call the numbers listed on google but they are non working numbers.

Liza B.

Yelp
Tank has some needed Vietnamese in this neighborhood. Clean, lovely casual place. Large, so easy to get a table. Wonderful service. Not on the menu but they do have banh mi, which isn't the best I've had but pretty good. Great shrimp dishes. Parking can be tricky certain times of day.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Went in for Pho on a Monday with a friend. Service is super slow and I couldn't get why because there was only one other table in the restaurant. I'm a bit of a Pho snob and their Pho just didn't do it for me. Their meat was super fatty and the broth just wasn't my favorite. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. I've definitely had better other places They are extremely pricy too in my opinion. I'll stick to my favorite, Viet Taste by the HIP.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Glad to see a new restaurant in the Old Irving neighborhood, especially Vietnamese food since you normally have to go to Argyle for this! I'm taking away one star because 1) my food order was wrong and 2) one dish didn't take like it normally does when I have ordered at other places. First, I made a carryout order through UberEats and got vegetarian noodle soup, tofu curry and papaya salad. The curry I received was chicken instead of tofu and I requested no pork belly but it came with a lot on it. I don't eat meat so both these things were a problem. I called the restaurant and they were apologetic and delivered new orders of these so I was happy they made it right, however it's still a little frustrating to wait for the correct (probably 30 more minutes). Once the curry was delivered, it was INCREDIBLE. The papaya salad tasted a little funny to me, not as limey as I normally have had and just had a slight strange taste. I would definitely order again and perhaps try dining in! The space looks beautiful.

Yen C.

Yelp
I like the spacious dining rooms and big windows. I like my order of anchovy noodles. A lot of catfish pieces served with this noodle order. But the pork chop rice my boyfriend ordered was just ok. Maybe I do not like the dry pork chop and lemongrass taste combination. I also did not like the quality of white rice served with this dish. The quality of rice needs to be better. Spacious parking behind the building. Will likely to return to try out more dishes on the menu. Glad it is near my neighborhood.

Peggy H.

Yelp
Walked out after only receiving appetizer. Waited 45 minutes for drinks which we never received because they had another bigger party( approx 10) (we were 4) that was taking up all their energy and attention and the place was nearly empty. Kept telling us they were busy w other table. What a joke. We went to Community Tavern around the corner and we were treated like royalty!!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Good pho spring rolls and the sriracha fries are bomb! This place should be more popular clean and fresh!

Natalia T.

Yelp
Visited this place with friends. They have a blasting disco music. I couldn't get out of there soon enough. Food seemed ok. Unfortunately I could not enjoy it. Also AC is set uncomfortably low. Friendly service but unfortunately terrible experience. I won't go back.

Peter S.

Yelp
What took us so long!?! We moved from North Center into the NW corner of Avondale about 2 years ago and always headed SW into Logan Square to eat. Mellody wanted to try something new tonight so here we are. Happened to arrive early during happy hour by chance (my wife loves early dinner) so we really lucked out. But, even at full price we will most certainly come back. The Pho was fantastic as were the muscles in coconut mill, spring rolls and egg rolls. The kicker- a kick ass old fashioned with Angels envy bourbon, not too sweet. Tank has definitely made it into our regular rotation, make it part of yours too.

Karma P.

Yelp
Same as the original location in Argyle, the taste and presentation are so commercialized. Its like Mcdonalds of Vietnamese cuisine. There are many authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Chicago area to try, so avoid this location. I will never recommend.

Rik U.

Yelp
I looked at all the reviews and found many of them amusing after trying this place. It's a solid Vietnamese restaurant! The shrimp spring rolls are top notch. The reco from everyone for the mussels is really awesome. The coconut milk and lemongrass will blow your mind! Plus you get bread to dip in the sauce. You will request more bread cuz it's too good. My entrees were the filet on rice which is similar to shaking beef. This was fabulous!! The other entree I ordered to try was everyone's reco for the curry chicken soup with noodles. Wow! Very decadent and delicious! I had a little and my wife did as well but we took it home for lunch. To much food, lol. My wife had the beef pho. I tasted it too and it was on my list for the top pho's I've had in Chicago! My wife loved it to. The drinks there are wonderful as well. I had a delish Tokyo drift and wife had a mojito which both were amazing. Definitely a place we are coming back to. Kudos!!

Bryan B.

Yelp
Very good food, had the chefs special fried rice and pho for main dinner which were both amazing. Also had an old fashion and whiskey sour (Tokyo drift) both were fantastic drinks. For appetizers we had the shrimp and fries both were also awesome. Everything had tons of flavor and this place is a great addition to our area so go visit if you can. The creme brulee is also super tasty.

Dave W.

Yelp
Longtime Tank Noodle customer. Tried the new location. Awesome new facility with a large bar area and lots of seating. The food was excellent as expected. Definitely give it a try!
