The 17 Best Breakfast Restaurants In Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"This Taiwanese breakfast spot in Chinatown serves rice rolls making them the ultimate breakfast on the go. If you have a sweet tooth, get the sweet rice roll with pork floss. And for the savory breakfast heads, there’s an egg pancake loaded with sausage that should be served in multiples (so get two, just to be safe). We can count on one hand the number of available tables in Tao Rice Roll. But if you can’t find a seat at one of the few open tables, the breakfast tastes just as delicious from inside your car." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi

The 22 Best Restaurants In Houston's Chinatown - Houston - The Infatuation

"The Taiwanese breakfast spot Tao Rice Roll is connected to a karaoke spot, but there isn’t much serenading happening. Instead, you can expect rice rolls the size of a small pooch made-to order to hit your table with a resounding thud. Start your day with a sweet rice roll or a sausage-filled egg pancake. There are about four tables inside of Tao Rice Roll, so plan to take the party to your car unless you get lucky and snag a spot inside. What to order: tao roll, sweet roll, double egg pancake" - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Houston’s 28 Essential Breakfast Spots

"For a Tawainese spin on breakfast, look no further than this restaurant with locations in Chinatown and Sugar Land. Fan tuan (rice rolls) are the main draw here and are filled with various options including the signature with ground pork and shiitake mushroom mixture, braised egg, pork floss, sliced lettuce, mayonnaise, and sweetened varieties. It is the perfect on-the-go breakfast, whether dining in or savoring one of these in the car." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley

Almost felt like I was transported to an alleyway in Taipei. Authentic Taiwanese breakfast cuisine. Sure the ambience isn’t quite there and while they don’t necessarily focus on service, you’re there for the incredible food - and that they have in plenty. Scallion pancakes, hot sweetened soy milk w fried dough, chicken soup and of course, their rolls. Easy 5 stars!

Google
Great spot to get Taiwanese comfort foods including rice rolls, soups and snacks. This is my go to place for Sesame Pancake with green onion egg and fried dough stick. The dough stick is prepared perfectly and the sesame pancake is super flaky. Very popular place on the weekends.

Google
Not what I was expecting. Tastes like a pork bun roll but on rice instead. Bacon roll, had a sweet bbq sauce, bacon, lettuce ,& pork floss. Sausage roll, had sausage and pork floss. Sesame pancake, had thin scrambled egg with green onion & some sort of bread stick. The sesame pancake wrap was super flaky! $20 for 3 rolls

Google
Cool small spot. Had a rice roll that was not what I was expecting. It was still good though. I thought it was the rice roll that’s noodles. I’d comeback here again for a quick breakfast. Place was clean and staff was friendly and patient. Taiwanese milk tea was good tea. Complimented the rice roll well. Great start to my day.

Google
I got the egg wrap with spam. It was delicious. Fast and friendly service. I just wish that they kept the place tidy and clean. The tables were sticky and floor looks like it needed to be mopped.

Google
Lovely Taiwanese style rice wrap! Just like the old days........ savoury soybean milk is not traditional and lack of flavour. Sesame wrap with fried dough with eggs is fairly good. Came back again, food is consistent and good, its comfort food for Taiwanese!

Google
The rice rolls here are not bad, taste-wise. I know it's America, but as a Taiwanese (we have rice rolls on every corner), for the price of one rice roll that I'm paying here, I can get two super jumbo rice roll balls that include all the ingredients. Not only here at Tao, but the rice rolls at 99 Ranch's food court are also pretty expensive. If you've never tried a rice ball or want to have one from time to time, this is the place for you.

Yelp
I have never had fish for breakfast, it even many Asian breakfasts, so when I found this place I was excited. I had eel rice roll and a sweet rice roll. Both were crispy on the outside, warm and fresh, and both were delish. I love sushi and it reminded me of a sushi roll but with cooked fished. The rolls is normally cooked anyway so that was very similar. A great value as they are not expensive. The sweet rice roll was crunchy and with a sweet bean paste I think, warm and tasty. Next time I'm in town I plan to check out the options outside rice rolls, but so far so good.

Yelp
Good cheap eats!!!! $6 for a big roll My first time here and I got the tao roll! It was soooo good!!!! 10/10 There's lettuce, Chinese sausage, egg, pork floss and idk what else but everything pairs nicely with each other. I was in there no longer than 5 minutes! Service was quick and friendly, I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Come get your collagen in the most delicious way! Enjoyed a steaming hot smol pot of ox tail soup with bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms. The flavor was out of this world delish. My friend enjoyed the black chicken soup. I tried hers too and that was equally delish!

Yelp
PSA: they close at 3pm Located inside the same place as Happy Zone The Tao rolls are so unique and delicious! Think of it like a burrito, but minus the the tortilla. It's rolled with seaweed paper and rice to keep the shape and inside there's different type ingredients you can choose from. I chose the traditional Tao roll that contains pork floss, fried stick, egg, mushroom meat, and dried radish, but instead of regular white rice, I subbed out for purple rice for an extra $0.50. It was very flavorful and filling. The pork floss gives it a savory flavor and the radish gives it a nice crunch and a bit of saltiness. The fried stick is a must, provides an extra layer of crunchiness and it was perfectly fried. Think of a fried stick almost like a fried Asian donut stick. My daughter opted to try the sesame pancake. If you like crispy texture foods, this is it! It has a flaky crust almost like a filo dough filled with a thin egg crepe and the fried stick. My daughter ate every crumb! We will be a returning customer!

Yelp
This is a small and cute shop. I got the traditional and the eel rice rolls. They both came out steaming hot, fresh, and surprisingly big (in my opinion). This was my first time trying rice rolls and I really enjoyed it. The eel rice roll was a bit on the sweeter side, which I enjoyed and would repurchase. The food felt homey, good quality, & satisfying to eat. I would come back to try their other items.

Yelp
Selfishly, I want to gatekeep this spot because of how busy it's gotten during the few hours of the day that it's open. At the same time, I want more people to continue supporting Tao Roll and Pancakes because I want the business to thrive and stay open for a long time! I love it so much!!! Tao Roll and Pancake serves a variety of Taiwanese breakfast items like their tao rolls, stuffed pancake crepes, soy milk (served hot or cold), and even some soups. They make the items fresh to order and you can even watch them assemble your food right in front of you! When I first started going here a few years ago, it had a steady flow of customers and I never had to wait long. Since then, there's pretty much always a long line during its peak hours (especially on Saturdays). Expect to wait 30 min for your order. On a weekday, I haven't had to wait more than 5-10 min. The space is fairly small. There's about 4 small tables and chairs that fill up on the weekend but it doesn't take long for a table to clear. My favorite items here would be their eel roll and their tuna roll but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Their food comes out piping hot and is best eaten fresh! I have had their soy milk but personally it isn't sweet enough for me. Another thing that I love about this restaurant is how affordable it is. Prices have gone up a little since I first started going here. Despite the price increases, it is still super affordable and very filling! Pro tip: go on a weekday to avoid a long wait

Yelp
I was excited to stumble upon this new restaurant! It was very authentic walking in, from the smell to the language to the decor. I got the vegetarian tao rice roll and the royal milk tea. They took a while to come out so they were definitely made to order. I enjoyed both so much. The tea was light and flavorful and sweet. The rice roll was flavorful and crunchy. I like that they had so many non-meat options!
google avatar

Yelp
You can't go wrong here. They don't have a big menu, but the food is quite good and the prices are right. in my opinion, this is a good snack place for something quick

Yelp
Craving Taiwanese breakfast we decided to pick up some food on the way back home. With the tips from other Yelpers we placed our order online for pickup, but just know you do pay for this convenience as some items are more expensive vs in store. Yet, I highly recommend this as you get to bypass the long wait inline but there might still be a slight wait to flag down someone to help you grab your food. We ordered both the Traditional and the Eel roll. Out of the the two I found the Traditional Roll with a variety of things but wished there was a bit more of it. However it was a fun surprise to see they mixed the rice with some purple rice. The Eel roll on the other hand held up much better and overall tastier with the delicious eel sauce. For both the rolls I was a bit disappointed they didn't use a full dough stick and instead had a few pieces sprinkled in, so the crunch factor I was used to was missing. Luckily we ordered a dough stick on the side which was fairly crispy but literally gushed oil with each bite. Salted Soy Milk was served hot and this honestly tasted like a soup to me, pretty flavorful and authentic tasting. I wished they put the dough sticks on the side as they were so soggy by the time we got to them. However, for the Small Bowl Noodles they separated the soup from the dried ingredients and would actually suggest to immediately dump the soup into the noodles (if you don't mind a soggier egg/crispy onions) as it takes time for the broth to really penetrate the noodles. The leftover we ate the following day was so much more flavorful than when we first got it. Overall, I'd probably say 3.5 stars but I round to 4 as there aren't too many options for Taiwanese breakfast and just happy to have it available! I think next time I order I have a better idea of what to get/ avoid as when you order online there aren't any descriptions to go with the picture. I actually was so fixated on the rolls that next time I plan to try the pancake as the lady making them made it look quite tasty!

Yelp
Wonderfully crispy and hot! Highly recommend ordering ahead over the phone because we did not do this and it took 40 minutes to get our food. Seems like a lot of people order ahead. The rice roll is fresh with crispy flakes inside and LOADS of rice. I tried the eel and it was insanely good. Highly recommend. The double egg pancake was kind of mid but still good. Might not get it again. Vibe was fine haha like eating at a Taco Bell vibe. Just kind of in and out nothing fancy but also nothing wrong with it
google avatar

Yelp
I decided to stop by Tao roll and give them a second chance since I had ordered door dash years ago. Their food is best fresh rather than delivery. I ordered the eel rice roll and the sesame yu tao pancake. The wait was at least 15-20 minutes for the pancake to come out, and I was uncertain why it took so long. Definitely order ahead. I really enjoyed the eel role. It was fresh and had a good amount of eel and pork floss wrapped in a thick layer of sticky rice. For $6 it was cheaper than a sushi roll. There's not much decoration inside and the service is basic. But I really like the food and will come try a different roll next time.

Yelp
New breakfast spot unlocked! Stopped by this place that has been on my to-visit list finally this past weekend, and I was not disappointed after the long anticipation! The service is nice, the lines were manageable, and the vibes were worth extra points. You can see them make the items in front of you through the open kitchen concept, and that was an experience in itself. I ordered the classic tao rice roll and the double egg pancake, both were amazing in texture and taste! If you are visiting with a friend and want to taste more than one item, you can ask for them to cut the rolls in half. Pictured is the double egg pancake, and sorry, the rice roll was soo good that I forgot to stop to take a picture after the first bite. Pro tip: For the double egg pancake, I requested an additional fried stick (油条), which cost extra, but well worth it! You also have the option for spicy or non-spicy, or spice in to-go container on the side. Pro tip #2: there is a nearby outdoor seating area in the plaza with artsy picnic tables if you crave some sunshine and fresh air instead of dining indoors. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Really loved this place. My favorite was the eel roll. You gotta eat this fresh, as it hardens after being in the fridge and reheated. There's not much seating here so you probably have to order to go. It takes a little while of a wait as the make them all fresh, but it's not too bad. I want to come back soon!
google avatar

Valerie Y.

Yelp
I stopped by a bit before closing time. The owners were nice and took my order despite it looking like they were about to close. I got the traditional Taiwanese roll and the sausage roll. Both are pretty good. I felt like the rice probably could have been rolled a little bit tighter. It was falling apart a bit as I started chow down, but overall the flavor was pretty good. I'm a huge fan of Taiwanese rice rolls and they're kind of hard to find since they're a niche food item, so I'm really happy that there's still a place in Houston that's doing it authentically. Going to be back to try other items on the menu but I do feel like it's nothing special to write home about it just scratches an itch when I'm craving tyron's food.

Yelp
Stopped by in the early morning for a quick breakfast and was not disappointed! You order at the counter, choose a table, and grab your food when your number is called. It can get a little crowded but orders come out pretty quick. We each got the double egg pancake and they were delicious. You're able to customize the fillings, but we chose the default since it was our first time there. The sauces they put on the crepe-like pancakes really pulled it all together. The hot soy milk tasted authentic and fresh. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in Houston.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by Tao Rice Roll about 30 minutes before they closed and they were sold out of all pancake. Got a rice roll- the traditional one which comes with pork floss, egg, fried stick, dried radish, mushroom meat. I liked the crispy bites in the rice roll and the flavor was delicious. Price point decent as well! Located in a plaza with shared parking.
google avatar

Ash S.

Yelp
I come here at least once a month. Huge fan of the Taiwan roll for the sausage and salted egg yolk, although the other rice rolls are equally delicious. The jian bing and salty soy milk are reliable options as well.
google avatar

Loreta W.

Yelp
It was a Saturday morning and it's expected to be busy. The wait was worth it. We ordered hot soy milk (burned taste was not detected), the fillings on each rice roll were ample and you can actually taste the different flavor from different rolls like sweetness from sweet roll or sourness from pickled roll. I give one less star because the roll could have been more tightly rolled to prevent it from breaking down when you take a bite. Double egg pancake and sesame pancake was glorious and took me back to Taiwan enjoying street food breakfast.
google avatar

Michelle Y.

Yelp
Ambiance was a little chaotic for me. The seating is VERY limited and it's a order and sit type of place. Make sure you bring some disinfectant wipes because they don't go around to wipe down tables for you. I mean you can ask but they don't have many people working so I'm not sure if they'll give you a towel to wipe it down yourself or if they'll do it. Service is ok...it gave me a fast food type of feeling. You order and they'll call out your number to get your food. The person that took my order missed one of my order for the rice roll, but I'm glad because I tried my daughters and I didn't care for it at all. Menu by the cashier was a little confusing for me since I've never been there before. It has the name of the roll and then it'll list the ingredients under each roll. The "hot" drinks weren't hot it was more like warm hot and both the sweet soy milk and ny style milk tea was very bland. Unfortunately I would not be returning.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
A Taiwanese breakfast spot for a quick meal! I ordered noodles, a double egg pancake and a rice roll with beef! The pancake was filled with vegetables, ham and seasoning! It was so big and yummy that I had to eat the rice roll in the afternoon as a snack! Also, the soy milk was so good!! I had both the hot and the cold version - the cold is more sweet than the hot one just fyi! The service was a bit slower the morning I went but everything was made fresh There are only a few tables (which were mostly full when I went!) So it's definitely more of a takeout spot!
google avatar

Peter P.

Yelp
(Name/location) In the center of Chinatown (Atmosphere/decor) Its a small little quick spot to stop by (The menu/dishes) Lot of options to choose from. (The ingredients/the wine/the prices) Everything here is about $6. They have a $10 minimum credit card fee (not lenient). (The service/the waiters/the owner) The restroom is on the other side with the karaoke place. They were quick to take our order and get started on our food. (Recommendation) We got an eel roll that was stuffed and tasty. The soup was warm and salty.
google avatar

LT H.

Yelp
Delicious food: Salty Soy bean (Classic Taiwanese), double egg pancake, sesame pancake, Taiwan Rice Roll and Tao rice roll. So-so: hot soy milk There is a minimum to use a credit card (around $10-$15?) Service is bad. Long wait, and they forgot to bring their smiles to work. They just look miserable.
google avatar

Johnny L.

Yelp
Great spot for some Taiwanese breakfast. Be prepared to wait though, it does take a while to make. I waited about 20 minutes for a simple order. I ordered a double egg pancake with Tuna. Other included ingredients are lettuce, crispy fritters, Chinese pickles and plenty of sauce and mayonnaise. It's a little spicy too. This is quite a complex dish, with an explosion of flavors and crispy texture. Careful for the last final bite though. All the sauce eventually oozes to the bottle and that last bite can be salty. With the exception of the last bite I really like this dish. Cold soy milk I was expecting iced but it's just refrigerated soy milk. It's very very sweet. Can't taste much of the soy milk because it is overwhelmed by the sweetness. The wait is long for them to prepare the food but it's worth it. I'll come back to try the noodles.
google avatar

Mao P.

Yelp
Love their food. Recommendations: Salty soy bean milk Sweet soy bean milk Soup dumpling Sticky rice Good but not fave Taiwan rice roll Skip: Pancake - wasn't a fan of the mixture of wiener dogs Wonton - consistency was a bit weird
google avatar

Michelle Y.

Yelp
Wanted something for breakfast that was not a doughnut or a bagel. Wanted something salty and savory and not sweet today. This was a very good option. They made it fresh in about a minute. I got the Taiwanese rice roll with salty eggs, sausage, and pork floss I really like that they have a good bilingual menu。 if you don't know what a rice roll is, think of it as a Japanese hand roll. Just a lot thicker and heartier with lots of meat (unless you pick one without meat). I am definitely not a vegetarian and it fits deliciously in my hand. Great to have when you're driving and you are starving. you can hungrily scarf it down. It's been a while since I've had one of these! Yum!!!
google avatar

Albert L.

Yelp
Love this place Was craving taiwanese breakfast- not much options around Houston I like their fan tuan .. not so much their pancake but others rave about them so I guess it's personal preference. I could easily eat two each setting. They reheat pretty well too
google avatar

Henry Y.

Yelp
I legit wish there are Tao franchises all over town. These are the original 'sushi-ritos' (minus the fish). I love how tasty and convenient they are, just grab one on the go in the morning. They're super filling and the texture of the rice is amazing. Lots of flavors/fillings to choose from. I do understand it's hard to pre-make these otherwise they'll get soggy, but a guy can dream! I also recommend the double egg pancake as well. While tasty, I think they could've done a better job distributing the ingredients more evenly. Tao is how we roll (feel free to use that slogan).

Yelp
Such a good Taiwanese rice roll (fan tuan) restaurant! It's in the same door as a KTV place and it's a small place with maybe seating for 10 people total but usually people grab and go. I ordered 2 Taiwan rolls and it was about $13 after tax. It was so good; I had to stop myself from eating it really quickly. It reminds me of what you would get from a street vendor in Asia.
google avatar

Benedict B.

Yelp
I came with my cousin for breakfast. I ordered the Taiwan roll, seafood roll and Tao and roll pancake. All came piping hot. I ate the pancake first because I saw it had shredded lettuce. It was hot and filling. I tried the seafood roll next and I loved it. Big chunks of octopus, imitation crabmeat salad and pork sung are packed inside soft sticky rice. It was very filling, I had to save my Taiwan roll for later. I ate my Taiwan roll for dinner and I like the roll a lot partially because it was room temp. It had pork sung, Chinese sausage and salted egg yolk. It was very tasty. I would eat both rolls again. Definitely coming again.
google avatar

Lillian L.

Yelp
The rolls are so good everytime! It's a totally different flavor palette than anything I've ever had before, so I usually bring everyone I know. Like 5-10 minute wait depending on your order but worth it! Small place, but I'm usually able to find seating
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Houston!! Best rice rolls I've had! Haha only rice rolls I've had! These were dang gooood!! Also loved loved there double egg pancake and their fried dough stick! Omg so goood
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
This place gave me food poisoning. I know it was them because it was a few hours after I ate there and I had nothing else to eat that day. I love salty soy milk and fantuan and was so looking forward to trying this place. The fried donut stick has a chemical taste and aroma to it that I couldn't quite place except to say I've smelled it in bathrooms before. I don't know if it was an off day or what but I would be remiss if I didn't warn people about the potentially unhygienic practices of this place that could make you sick.
google avatar

Yelp
If this is your first time trying Taiwanese-style rice rolls, you come to the right place! The rice roll here tastes close to the one I have in Taiwan. Fried bread stick, dried radish, and pork floss...you got it all in that roll! They also have a variety of choices other than traditional rice rolls. Make sure to get soy milk to pair with rice rolls.

Yelp
We came here to grab a quick bite and unfortunately it was anything but that. The shop itself is very small - blink and you miss it - and it has about 5 tables inside to sit and eat. Luckily we were able to snag one as we waited for our orders, which we were warned would take between 20-30min due to the volume of orders. So, the place is popular, which is a good sign. I wouldn't have minded the wait too much except for that they do not sell/offer water and the AC was not working while we were there, so it was hot hot inside. Imagine how the poor workers felt if we were hot just sitting! Once we received our food, it was enjoyable. I ordered to Tao Roll as it seems to be the namesake item. It was an interesting and filling combo of sticky rice, egg, sausage, pork floss, lettuce, and a bread stick. I cut mine in half thinking it would make it easier to eat, but I think the way to go is bite into it whole like a burrito.
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
My favorite Taiwanese breakfast place!! This place is known for their rice rolls (fantuan), which is kind of like a sticky rice burrito filled with delicious things like fried dough, pork floss, sausages, radishes, etc! I grew up eating these rice rolls, so I was SO happy to see this pop up! I love being able to try different combinations of rice rolls, and I really appreciate how freshly made they are! My favorite would have to be the Taiwan roll - it just has all the flavors and textures I'm looking for in a rice roll. My parents really like the meicai rice roll because of the vegetable they use in it! The rolls look pretty small, but they are very filling. The wait time is also something I definitely have to comment on. Before this place became popular, you could get your roll and be out quickly. But recently, I've been experiencing having to wait 20-30 mins for a rice roll because of the back log of orders they receive. I realized while I was waiting in line that a lot of people will order over the phone!! And if the phone rings before you can start ordering, they put in that order before you. So lesson learned: order your rolls BEFORE you head over to pick them up!!! Lots of parking spots, but the plaza is usually pretty crowded. So you'll definitely find a spot, but it may not be near the area, but that's ok because there are so many cool things to check out in the plaza. This store also has some eating area if you wanted to eat in. My tip is to grab a boba from a nearby store and eat it with your rice roll and there you've got a perfect breakfast.

Yelp
I came here around 1pm on a Tuesday. So a little bit after the lunch rush. I was one of 3 customers, all 3 were English speaking only. She was very kind to explain the menu. I took a dive and got the seafood rice roll and the eel rice roll to go. I also got to see the chef make it through the plexi glass, that was neat. The rolls then sat in my 20 minute drive home. The rolls themselves were amazing. ** I am not Taiwanese** I do not know if this is what I would get if I got one in Taiwan, but omg they are GOOD. The sticky rice stuck to the food and not my hands. This reminds me of xôi mặn ( vietnamese meat sticky rice) but so much more depth.

Leena C.

Yelp
Roll, roll, roll.... If you blink, you'll miss it. Small shop with a tiny sign. It seems to share space with a karaoke place. This was my first time so I took my friend's suggestion and tried the Tao Roll. They also had an eel roll, seafood roll, vegetarian roll, etc. It's a lot of yummy goodies wrapped in rice then rolled into this perfectly circular cylinder. It's easy to eat on the go. And there are many options. And it's priced reasonably. They seemed to be pretty popular as there was a line. The staff were friendly. Def going back for more.

Yelp
Over the years there have been a few Taiwanese spots pop up around chinatown, but unfortunately none have lasted very long. It's been awhile since there was a solid breakfast option so naturally I was very excited about Tao opening. It took awhile for me to try because they unfortunately don't open on Sunday which is the most common day I go to Chinatown. It is always quite empty when I come on weekdays, so I was worried they wouldn't stay in business for long. However, recently I went on a Saturday and was told it was a 30-40 min wait for food. Luckily, there are a lot of shops within walking distance so we got some tapioca and snacks at other places nearby. But just keep this in mind if you are on a time crunch. I've had the original taiwanese roll with chinese fried donut/pork floss but recently I found the eel roll, sub purple rice that comes with torched eel, egg, and mayo. This roll is soo good especially with the charred taste of the eel. I also waited for my mom to go before finally writing this review because I wanted her opinion as well and she was very happy with their fan tuans (rice rolls) as well and the salty soy milk. Overall, this is a great addition to the bellaire food scene, although I will probably avoid coming on a Saturday from now on. It's comforting to have a taste of the homeland!

Yelp
Eel roll was absolutely delicious. Perfect rice to protein ratio. I also got a black chicken herbal soup this time and it was surprisingly good. I didn't expect there to be much stuff inside but there was a generous portion of chicken, ginseng, and jujube. The broth itself was rich and had a strong taste of herb. Perfect for a sick day.

Yelp
Amazeballs Taiwanese rice roll place with out of this world rice rolls that are creative as they are delicious. Soy milk is also served as well as other Taiwanese fare like soup dumplings. I got the purple rice roll with egg and Taiwanese sausage and it was incredible. Would have been great with hot sauce as well (forgot to ask for it). The soy milk was great as well, unsweetened. Also met a cool Corgi dude named "Austin" outside because he was bought in Austin. Very highly recommended!

Yelp
I ordered tao roll every morning and today i called in and ordered for togo, and they dont even make it when i come and pick up. I wait and the moment i open it, i order the "hala beef roll" and guess what? It only has two slices of beef. It not even look like how i usually get my order. I hate this place!

Yelp
I rarely give 5 star reviews but this one deserves it. It's really hard to find fan tuan (rice rolls) so I was so excited to find this place when we were in Houston due to Ida. It is so fresh and so good! I am sad I didn't buy more but fan tuan for me really tastes best when it is fresh. I hope we'll be back in Houston soon because I would get this every day! This place needs more attention!

Yelp
My new favorite breakfast spot!!!! The double egg pancake is absolute perfection. I got a couple different rice rolls to eat later, the eel one was my favorite!

Yelp
There's just something about this place that keeps me going back. It's simple, it's delicious, it's affordable and it reminds me of being in Taiwan. How it works: There are a ton of different options that you can add to your rice rolls and they have some pre-set ones. The rice is absolutely on point for these and I've tried out a few of them, but the top picks seem to be: - Eel Roll: This is packed with eel, japanese mayo, cheese (if you want), and a few other ingredients. Never disappoints - Taiwan Roll: This is your classic fan tuan rice roll from Taiwan (you'd think that?). Filled with the pork floss, pickled veggie, chinese fried donut, and just overall goodness. The only thing I'd probably pass on is the egg yolk - Pancakes (Jian bing): Nicely crisp with the option to add ingredients. Quick tips: - Call ahead. This place gets packed. It gets busy. Call ahead and be ready! - Its between the Fufu's and the karaoke bar, facing Bellaire blvd - Enjoy while hot. Don't let these things get cold or soggy. Thank me later. - Did I mention to call ahead?

Yelp
Decided to check out this Taiwanese breakfast place when we visited Houston. Food was amazing, with many choices of Taiwanese sticky rice rolls. We tried the signature Tao rice roll, and it was delicious. Their fried stick in sesame pancake is my favorite, so fresh and not overly greasy. The sign was small from the street. The line inside tells how popular and delicious the food is. Not many tables inside, so not for big groups to sit in. Most people take it to go! I wish they offer order online for pick up to save time! This place definitely is a win from our free hotel breakfast

Yelp
The rice roll rice to filling ratio is too high, and the filling for the traditional is pretty boring. Also tried the dumpling soup and that was pretty awful. Both The broth and the dumplings have no flavor. I would have done better with instant ramen soup. Huge tree pastry in Los Angeles has ruined it for me, their rice roll is still the best. Nothing in Houston can compare
