Pretty great little mexican restaurant in South Austin. Tried a dishes while visiting and their tacos al pastor were top tier! Their tex-mex plate was also pretty delicious as well. Prices weren’t too expensive for the amount of food you were getting. Both waitresses that worked tonight were very friendly and helpful!

The food was nasty cook seemed to be drunk then laughing when we complained tripas were raw as hell pozole was old first time visiting this restaurant and never again

Google
It always has been one of my favorite places to eat. It's authentic and hits your stomach perfectly every time. Having been born and raised here I highly recommend it. Very nicely priced compared to many others. The staff have been there a long time as well. The quality is usually a 10 🌟. Now I finally added some photos of probably my favorite restaurant in Austin since I was born and raised here. I went with my girl on the 9th a few days ago at like 9 p.m. and the food was still so delicious I got the chorizo and eggs plate it's my favorite because I love breakfast, she got the mojarra frita (fried tilapia). At most places that dish cost a lot of money but it was only $13 here like I said this is my hometown favorite restaurant of Mexican food authentic and if you haven't been here because you haven't known about it and you were born here or you're new here or newer just come by and let the food do the talking for you you won't be disappointed. And you can get breakfast all day!!🤗🤤🤤

Google
The best Mexican food I've had in a while. Great people and environment. Would go back and will. Had tacos tonight, yum!

Google
Food was delicious the people welcoming and nice I like the decoration it’s very traditional I live the table and chairs also the menus are with pictures it’s very good for people how new to this kind of food to know how it looks like the only think I really would love them to pay attention is to the detail in the please some walls need to be patched and paint some of the ceiling need to be fix and the light keep on and off feels uncomfortable.. if they work on those details will make the guest experience way better

Quick service, delicious food and amazing decor. The Menudo is perfect...I love this restaurant and you will too.

Google
Small hole in the wall but great food and give you a good amount!! ***I'm here to update my review. We ordered from this location again for my daughter's birthday, she wanted menudo. I don't know if it depends on who's working or what but you should have never let something like that come out of your kitchen! If you didn't have it ready, just say it's not ready. You did not even take the time to remove the bones, the meat was real fatty and full of grilse. She did not eat it. And honestly, we probably will not be back due to this. First visit was great, last one not so great. That's why I bumped my food review down in this review. Please take better care next time.

Nancy Crowther

Google
Waitstaff very attentive to my needs with access to a close table accessible to my wheelchair and making sure my drink, chips, etc were within my reach. So considerate.

Brenda M.

Yelp
A rarely give a review on these things.. But, I can truly say I give this place 10/10. The food is authentic, great taste, and the food taste like home.

Craig C.

Yelp
Excellent service and great food at a reasonable price enchiladas tacos tostada all good. We came for a Friday evening meal plenty of seats available we will be back

Caleb M.

Yelp
Great food, service, and vibes. Had three different tacos all were great. Will be back!

Destiny M.

Yelp
Food was great! The Salsa was a pretty spicy but other than that the food was excellent. And was very quick! The service was amazing they were super sweet. And it was not as expensive as every where else! Was an amazing experience! Will definitely be back

Chris F.

Yelp
Amazing food. Well staffed and fast with wonderful customer service. Recommend to anyone in the Austin area.

Abel T.

Yelp
Over all the visit was great! The food was fresh, hot, tasty and authentic. My brunch date is a very picky eater and even she was very pleased. While she wasn't able to finish her food, she definitely had a few to-go boxes!! The waitress was friendly, pleasant and very attentive! The only downside to mention is that sodas are served in cans. We will be back soon!!

Yelp
If you're like most of us, you have to have several great places for breakfast, I'm saying that Taqueria Arandas deserves to be on your list. Great food, super nice staff and a unique Mexican decor inside. I love the unique machacado con huevo a la Mexican (dried beef strips mixed in scrambled eggs and pico de Gallo), it's not easy to find around town and even more difficult to prepare it just right. Their barbacoa is legit, the menudo is so meaty that you get a generous portion with each spoonful, and hey, where can you get a huevos rancheros plate for under $10? This place is a bargain for the quality of northern Mexican food that I'm accustomed to. When I eat here, I feel like I'm back at my abuelita's (grandma's) house where fresh made tortillas were on the stove all day long.

Celeste R.

Yelp
Services was good but unfortunately there were tiny beard hairs in my menudo. Very unsanitary and lost my appetite.

Pedro P.

Yelp
I made an online order for pickup here while I was at work at went to go pick it up 30 minutes later at the estimated pick up time at 6:55 PM. After I showed up I told them I was picking up an order for Pedro and they seemed confused and said that they didn't have any order for Pedro. I told them I put an online order and had already paid for it. The server lady asked me "Doordash, Uber, or Grubhub?" I said "Taqueria Arandas" and she kept saying Doordash, Uber, or Grubhub?" I said "No, your website, Taqueria Arandas". She then got mad and said she wasn't gonna help me and walked away. The front desk lady looked at my order through my phone and started writing it down so the cooks could make it. The server then tells her to stop and that I'm gonna have to pay again. I told her "I already paid.", she doesn't believe me and looks at her table again then finds the neglected order and gets all mad and walks away and starts serving guest that had just arrived. She refused to apologize or even continue talking to me to help me get my order. I was gonna make this my regular spot to buy food since I work closely but I was treated very badly, very messed up that they treated a paying customer this horribly. I never got my food and haven't received a refund. Don't eat here. Hice un pedido en línea para recogerlo aquí mientras estaba en el trabajo y fui a recogerlo 30 minutos más tarde a la hora estimada de recogida a las 6:55 p.m. Después de que llegué, les dije que estaba recogiendo un pedido para Pedro y parecían confundidos y dijeron que no tenían ningún pedido para Pedro. Les dije que hice un pedido en línea y que ya lo había pagado. La camarera me preguntó "¿Doordash, Uber o Grubhub?" ¿Dije "Taqueria Arandas" y ella seguía diciendo Doordash, Uber o Grubhub?" Dije "No, tu sitio web, Taqueria Arandas". Nunca recibí mi comida y no he recibido un reembolso. No comas aquí.

Yelp
I've been here many times before and I'm surprised I hadn't done a Yelp Review. It's one of those places you want to keep to yourself , but I must share so that others can continue supporting their business. I've included pictures because pictures say it best. Their food is good, great service, and nice atmosphere. When Ive brought my out of town family in the past they have enjoyed their experience. Hope you love it.

Gail H.

Yelp
I love their breakfast tacos and get them to go often. On a Saturday morning we decided to eat at a table. We ordered Migas. The eggs were over cooked and dry. I added lots of hot sauce just to be able to eat it. We saw someone order a margarita and decided to try one. That was the WORST margarita I've ever had. I couldn't even drink it all. NEVER AGAIN. Guess I'm back on the to-go train.

Noelle P.

Yelp
I love the decor !! It's really colorful and might be the cutest of taquerias in Austin!! The breakfast potatoes are perfectly crisp and delicate !! I felt uncomfortable one time tho !! Can't really detect what happened!!

Charles S.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and everything is amazing. 4 stars for speed, flavor, and consistency. We ordered the cheese enchiladas (rojas), the carne guisada, and the chalupas. The salsa is spicy and flavorful. It keeps you on the tip of your seat. The cheese enchiladas are my ideal enchiladas: they're spicy, cheesy, and perfectly melted in a rich roja salsa. The rice and beans are always consistently seasoned and flavored. The carne guisada pieces are smaller than other restaurants, but still as delicious. I wish the sauce were a little thicker, but it's not a show-stopper.

kelsey w.

Yelp
The ladies were so sweet and got me a table during their lunch rush. The tables were blocked off and sanitized during visitors so I felt comfortable grabbing a quick bite. I only wish they had added lettuce and cilantro and crema on top of my flautas but still...very delish.

Emily P.

Yelp
LOVE this place....they know us so well now that when we arrive we have two teas and chips and salsa immediately brought to the table! love it.... i haven't had anything there that i didn't like...mean it

Junus A.

Yelp
Used to come here frequently during my brief stint in this hood, ages ago. This Arandas, my first Arandas, is the best Arandas in Austin. I remember the restaurant & its staff used to exude a really wonderful vibrancy every time I stopped by for my order of tacos.

Mayra B.

Yelp
This taqueria is right next to my home so I find myself ordering from them often. I always get either a chicken gordita or a milanes cubana torta. Love the chicken gordita! The torta could be better. I wish they could also make different gorditas and tortas other than what they have in the menu. Drinks are good! Love the piña water.

Joseph R.

Yelp
Been a few times. The meat has been tough (tripas and asada). Kinda disappointing. The place is really cool looking inside and the workers are super nice. The portions are pretty big too. I might give it another try since it's close to me. Haven't had the breakfast stuff.

Audra B.

Yelp
Waited over an hour for our food and then they had my order completely wrong. When I finally did get my food it was the complete incorrect order and I had to wait again for them to remake it. The beans were cold and tasted like burnt coffee - honestly the most disgusting beans I've ever had. 0/10 would not recommend.

Michael H.

Yelp
Good place to go for a quick Mexican food fix... Nothing fancy, just what you'd expect for under $10 a plate. I've been coming here for years, nothing has changed much... today the chips were stale, the salsa bland, tiny portion of potatoes with the huevos rancheros, but I'm willing to forget all that and try again. Everybody has an off day.

Steban D.

Yelp
After reading all the reviews I was disappointed with this restaurant. I love a good hole in the wall type restaurant and had high expectations for this place after reading some of the reviews. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and sat at a booth. The waitress are friendly and quick to bring our drinks. We placed our order huevos rancheros(my favorite) for me and breakfast tacos for my better half. The food came out fast and looked good! The huevos rancheros came with 2 eggs, re-fried beans, and 2 slices of potato. The ranchero sauce was bland, the beans were cold, and the potato slices...well were potato slices. The eggs tasted like they were cooked in crisco and I felt like my tongue was coated and left a bad taste. On a good note the salsa was tasty...They charge for chips before 11am. However the most disappointing thing...Went to the front counter to pay our check. I saw the machine that circulates the agua de horchata, Mmmm I haven't had horchata in a while so i thought I'd get me a to go cup. Asked the gentle behind the counter for a to go cup...He asked if i wanted a large...i said oh Yea...My mistake! A large to go cup of horchata $4.32!!! WTF...I could have ordered a meal or tacos for less than that. That to go cup was almost 1/2 our bill. I was shocked. I shouldn't have paid for it but i did...but now i know and i won't make that mistake again! I might try again, but honestly the horchata for $4.32 rubbed me the wrong way.

Jenalys C.

Yelp
I love their green sauce, ground beef tacos, and the margaritas are cheap and STRONG! Give them a try!

Shelby G.

Yelp
This place was horrible. Waited over an hour for our food and they were bringing one plate out at a time so I finished my food before my friend even got hers. Beans are my favorite part and I couldn't even eat them because they were so bad

Leah D.

Yelp
This place has been a regular for my family for many years. There is nothing fancy or gourmet about it, but that's a major reason that we all keep coming back. You know what to expect: great service, decent to good food, and excellent prices! I recommend the chilaquiles, the nopales (they serve them with white onion, lime, and cilantro, just how they should be) and the pechuga feliz. My husband really likes their cheese enchiladas verdes and their horchata. True, not all things on the menu are home-runs (hard pass on the extra plain Velvetta queso), but keep your expectations moderate and you won't be disappointed.

Kimberley M.

Yelp
I love this restaurant the food is excellent the Ambiance is absolutely beautiful it's like you're in Old Mexico it's pretty and clean the staff is excellent and the price is perfect couldn't ask for a better place to enjoy breakfast lunch or dinner

Stephen L.

Yelp
Always a go to for breakfast. The breakfast tacos are great. We go here at least a few times a month.

Christina M.

Yelp
The best Mexican spot I found in Austin upon moving here. The food tastes homemade. 5 stars. Highly recommended. Another taco spot i really like is Taquitos Michoacanos #2.

Brad C.

Yelp
Good and well priced Mexican food. I mainly eat here for breakfast and have come to a point where I get the migas each time and sub white cheese. It's consistent. Good salsa too. I can see how other dishes for lunch and dinner might vary as other reviews note but once they have something down well it's consistently good, especially for their pricing.

Lisa Q.

Yelp
Always friendly...always courteous...food is authentic, consistent, good and cheap! Restaurant is always clean...and every time I walk through their doors, I am greeted with a friendly, "Hello! Have a seat anywhere!" They're just nice folks!

Steve A.

Yelp
I've eaten here exactly once, and the place didn't really impress me. But it was also the first time I'd had a breakfast taco in nearly 4 months. FOUR MONTHS! This gives them an immediate skewing upwards. I can't tell you if the breakfast tacos were good because of the aforementioned absence or if they stood on their own merits. Regardless, they were not bad, and certainly cheap. The place is rather dirty and chaotic, but the best places are. The parking lot sucks, so if you're not there early, find somewhere else to park-and don't be tricked into being one of those poor fools who gets trapped in. I don't live in Austin anymore, but I know that breakfast tacos are always waiting for me when I go back and Arandas has good cheap ones.

Camilo M.

Yelp
Coming here for more than 10 years. Still the closest to authentic Mexican food. Very friendly staff. Very good pozole (very hard to find) and great barbarcoa .

Lelo B.

Yelp
Excellent authentic Mexican fare! $2.10 tacos that are so delicious and so large! Also tried the gordita with beef fajitas and the tostada with pastor. Both delicious, but the tostada was probably my favorite of the two. Service was very sweet and attentive. They helped each other out and kept our drinks and salsa filled. We were starving when we arrived and decided to share several items and just order and eat to our hearts' content. We left with a $16 bill :) We will be back, but it may not be soon enough!

Sarah C.

Yelp
Love. It. Good stuff and super duper cheap too. If you speak Spanish you will adore this place, if you don't speak Spanish then you will feel a little out of place because everyone there speaks Spanish. I don't speak Spanish and I've called in a few orders a few times and even though they only speak Spanish they do try their hardest to communicate with you. I usually stick with the enchiladas and the fajitas. I will, however, try the tortas since they seem to be a hit with everyone. If you don't mind paying an additional dollar after 11 a.m. they will make breakfast for you. I don't know about you but I can eat breakfast anytime, any day. Try eggs and chorizo...they are the bomb diggity.

Shani S.

Yelp
I will NEVER go here again. I have been back several times to try other menu items, which were nothing more than mediocre at best most of the time. However, last night I went in with a friend to get some food, as I had a serious craving for picadillo nachos. We head in, grab a seat and order drinks. Our drinks come, and I aks the waitress (since it wasn't on te menu) if they have picadillo nachos. She replied that they did and that it came with guacamole and sour cream on it as well. I told her that was what I wanted. My friend ordered pork tacos and off she went. We talked and talked and ate our way through two bowls of salsa and two baskets of mostly tasteless, stale chips before my friend's tacos arrived... with my nachos nowhere in sight. My friend eats their tacos... we talk more... we go through another glass of water.... finally, a plate of mush arrives at the table... This plate, that was supposed to be picadillo nachos was nothing more than a few scattered chips with canned beans slopped on top, meath thrown here and there, lettuce, then slathered in (GROSS!!!!) queso. Now, if I wanted gringo crap "Mexican" food, I'd go to Chuys or something like that... I looked at the waitress and said, "This is not what I ordered. I don't want this." She just frowned at me me and said "What?! What do you mean?!" I told her I Had asked for simply meat nachos, not bean and meat... still a clueless gaze... "Just pack it to go, please." We then wait another 10 minutes to even get our "togo" box, then finally walk up to the counter to just get it ourselves. The woman at the register then tells me "Sorry about your order" At this point, I think tha tthis woman is right, and I shouldn't pay for this at all. I say to her that I didn't like it and it wasn't what I ordered, hoping that she'll do the right thing and take it off the ticket... *wrong. She just shrugged. Awesome. Yeah, for mediocre food, stale chips and super crappy customer service... I'll drive on over to Los Altos and get REAL, YUMMY Mexican food. We'll never go back.

Lorena O.

Yelp
Taqueria Arandas is the only Mexican food joint in town that doesn't make me say 'no' immediately when someone suggests Mexican for dinner. As I've said before, I'm tough on the Mexican food joints 'cause I grew up on the stuff and most places tend to disappoint. But, not Arandas. I almost always order the Flautas. Flautas are the type of food I would eat every day except they're too much of a pain in the rump to cook at home, so I have to get my fix at restaurants. Therefore, they've become my go-to food when trying out Mexican eateries for the first time, as was the case on my inaugural trip to Arandas, and I've been hooked since. They were fried just right and the chicken inside was well flavored. (I do wish they offered beef flautas, though). They offer two salsas, regular runny pico and a spicier one. Ask for them both or they'll jip ya and leave the spicy salsa for the regulars. Ordering the Flautas is tough, though, 'cause the plate is big enough to give me a food baby and yet I still gotta order me a Taco Al Pastor on the side. Damn them for serving 'em up so good. I take mine on corn with cilantro and onion and a squeeze of the lime. (Note to self, make a 'Best of Tacos al Pastor' list, stat.) The Horchata is hit or miss, but it's that way at most places so I'm not gonna ding 'em for that one. The service and food is best at the S 1st, Burnet, and Stassney locations. But one thing that is true across the board are the cheap prices, which makes this place golden in my book.

Jarod N.

Yelp
Since this is my 'local' taqueria I may be a little biased, but I assure you Taqueria Arandas #2 does Jalisco style Mexican food very well. There are five Taqueria Arandas in Austin that I am aware of and I would rate this one tied for first along with #3 on N. Burnet and #5 on S.1st. As with all good Jalisco style joints they knock the basics out of the park. Good pastor, good fajita, good salsa, and fresh produce. It all goes a long way as consistency is important and these guys are always on point. My favorite dishes at Arandas are the Al Pastor & Al Carbon tacos and the Fajita Burrito. The tacos are served on a double stack store bought tortillas and served with finely diced cilantro and white onions, nice. The burrito is served in a hot & crispy flour tortilla and has a certain gooey texture that complements the tortilla. Viva Arandas!

Lala L.

Yelp
How many Arandas' (Arandases? Arandi?) does one town need? If that town is Austin, apparently quite a few. But the Arandas on Stassney is the best, hands down. ( No really, put your hands down.) I can't bring myself to do the full tour-de-A, but I have eaten at three of the five and this one has the best food, fastest service and friendliest staff of those that I've visited. The only thing missing is hooch, but you can always take care of that before or after. In fact, a delicious Arandas meal makes a good drinking base OR a good after-drinking gut-bomb. That's a rare feat. And that's good enough for me. As it should be for all of you.

Mark T.

Yelp
Legit Mexican food at awesome prices. Their quesadillas, fajita burritos, and al pastor tacos are choice. The salsa is one of my favorites in Austin. In the fog of tex mex restaurants in this city, arandas is a breath of fresh air. The staff is always on point. Always super friendly. One of my go-to's when I'm in the area.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
We picked this area of Austin to move to partially to be closer to our favorite restaurant. I'm never not happy with the food here, no matter what time of day or night.

Jaime M.

Yelp
Torta de aguacate, horchata and tons of chips and good salsa = perfect meal for under $5. If you're there at closing time they might offer you a trash bag or to-go sack full of their chips along with some salsa -- goes to show how fresh they are. The tortas -- sandwiches -- are on hot, buttery bread and have just enough ingredients for stuff to not start falling out. The tostadas and tacos aren't huge portions, but all of the above are under $3. Awesome deal on hot, fresh Mexican food. And you don't pay a ton more for a platter with more stuff or with meat, if you like that sort of thing.

Crystal C.

Yelp
My chilaquiles were the way I like them - delicious and just like mom makes them. Service was excellent even to my mom who had to send her plate back because of a misorder. Delicioso!

Sierra C.

Yelp
I have been coming here for a VERY long time. I went to high school right across the street and came back every day for their delicious and really cheap food. They notice that I'm a regular, and one of the managers asks me about my life. They care about their patrons. Now, the food. Always delicious. I will say the queso is often watery and nothing special, considering they only charge 3.00 for it, I'll forgive them. Every single time I come here, I get the migas plate. The waitresses often make fun of me though, because I smother them in ketchup. Some of my other favorites are the avocado torta and any type of breakfast taco. Their horchata is to die for. I will continue to come here for a long time.

Eric T.

Yelp
Not a fancy place but the food is great. I keep coming back for the pastor and beef fajita tacos

Jason K.

Yelp
Great lunch! Dripped in on a whim and we had the Torta Cubana and a Taco Plate...both were great and so was the service.

Brent M.

Yelp
I assess every place that I eat by value (Quality of food, service, and environment verses how much I pay), and you can't get much better bang for your buck than Taqueria Arandas. I almost always get taco's al pastor when I go here, however I have tried their other dishes as well. $1.69 per taco (a little over $5 for 3) is amazing! If you call in to order they will have it ready in about 15 minutes. I order these to go all the time. The wait staff is friendly, and there is almost always someone who speaks english. Not rough english that works, but fluent english. Price aside, I would give the food 4 out of 5 stars. But since it's cheaper than fast food, it has to be 5 star food. Order taco's, and lots of them! They're amazing! This place may come off as a bit divey. Keep in mind that this is hole-in-the-wall mexican food, not Tex-Mex.

Dawn M.

Yelp
Where have I been? Obviously not at Taqueria Arandas. There are like 3 of these places within a one mile radius from my house and I have always shyed away from them. I can't tell you why. But this weekend I decided to make my way to the Stassney location and give them a try at breakfast. The place was packed and filled with a mixture of Hispanic families and a few other groups. I started getting excited, because if you see a Mexican food place filled with Mexicans, you know it's a good thing. The breakfast choices are somewhat slim - you have your breakfast tacos, migas, chorizo and eggs and maybe a few other options. We had the migas and huevos con chorizo. My chorizo dish reminded me of Cisco's. Great portions and super cheap price. The cherry on top was a large tea glass of horchata. Man that stuff is addictive. Too bad it's not fat free. I would have a horchata-a-day if it didn't go straight to my ass. We were checked on numerous times, which I do appreciate during the morning hours. So remember this. Taqueria Arandas breakfast = good and cheap. That's not a bad equation in my book. Lunch and dinner have yet to be seen. But I'm not too worried.

Jasen W.

Yelp
This spot has great tacos de pastor! Also, authentic breakfast tacos all day. The parking is tight during peak hours, but spots in the back left are usually open. I had wonderful bean and potato tacos with flour tortillas as well. Would highly recommend. Precios Bajos tambien! Great low prices for what II get!

Amy P.

Yelp
It's a special Saturday when I am able to begin the day here. It tends to be very crowded but there is one table, for one, in the back corner that is almost open without fail every time I go. I grab the paper, order a cup of coffee, and two breakfast tacos. I can leave there for under $6. Aside from breakfast, I order Tacos Al Pastor or Avocado Torta- baked just right. Order a large red salsa to go if you're entertaining- but only serve it with a warning- it's fresh and it's hot! When I meet new friends, or have a guest overnight- I have no shame, we're going to Arandas. You should too.

R S.

Yelp
I just found this place and it definitely deserves 5 stars. The chips are fresh/warm and you get three salsas. They each have a kick to them and taste great. Taco de chicharron guisado was just like mama used to make. Enchiladas have great flavor from the sauce down to the chicken inside. The right temperature too. The barbacoa adobada tacos are a bit crispy, and the meat is full of flavor. In my opinion, this place is top 3 in Austin for authenticity and consistency across the menu. If you don't like or appreciate real Mexican food, don't worry, it looked like they have Tex Mex options.

Yelp
This is my favorite taco place to get tacos alpastor. Everything I've ever eaten at this restaurant has been delicious, right down to the salsa and queso! I would recommend this little Mexican restaurant to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food.
