First of all thanks to my co-worker Audri who recommended this restaurant. Shout out to her, this place was super entertaining and full of joy with the live mariachi , birthday people getting shout outs and requesting songs to dance💃 🕺 to. Only on Fridays live band, and on Thursdays karaoke 🎤. Super fun place to be with the family if you want to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. Let me start with the corn 🌽 tortillas, fresh and soft also tasty. Got 6 tacos three fajita, and three pastor.. wow flavorful. Next the 3 birria tacos, meaty cheesy with the consumé that was full of flavor a must have im my book, light crispy shell that has you anticipating the next bite. If your in Lubbock Tx. Check this place out, you won't regret it really friendly atmosphere! I will go and try other iteams on the menu just to update the review but trust me this is one of the most memorable places as of yet in my opinion!

My wife and I love this place. We have been going there since it was a smaller part of the building it is in, and watched it grow, deservedly, to occupy the entire building. It’s a nice place with a full bar, and features Mariachi music and karaoke on certain evenings. Be sure and check for when these events happen if that’s something you think you would enjoy. For those who like Mexican food but would enjoy a change from the usual Tex-Mex found in this area, this might be your spot. Lots of seafood dishes, a variety of steak combos, just a great variety to choose from. Even the “standard” Mexican dishes have a different flair. I have settled on the “Santana” plate as my go-to favorite. Shrimp and chicken covered with red sauce and queso. Rice, guacamole and pico de gallo as sides. The sauce is so good I’d eat it on pretty much anything. Stir it in with the rice and it’s hard to beat. Service is also very good, but we generally go pretty early. Usually things are picking up about the time we leave. But we’ve always gotten consistently good service and there’s a reason it’s popular. Try it!

First time here was a great atmosphere, modern and clean look . Service was pleasant and patient as we went over a good selection of options. Food came out looking and tasting wonderful. Steak, chicken and shrimp all season and seared to perfection. Will definitely be coming back around when in town..

Pretty good for dinner on a weekday! Fast service and a kind wait staff. I had the chicken quesadilla and can say it was great in size and proportion of meat to cheese. Like the atmosphere of the place as well and how clean it was. Would love to come back again

It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S Honestly, I'm very impressed about how tasty it was. I ordered a birria taco and a shrimp and chicken skillet. If you want real Mexican food in Lubbock this is the place 10/10

We went for lunch on a Sunday, just before noon; they sat us immediately, and the service was fast! Most of us ordered the birria tacos, and they were delicious. I tried all of the salsas on the salsa bar, and I enjoyed them all. The avocado and tomatillo salsas were mild, but one salsa verde was medium, and a couple of the salsas rojas had good heat. The mariachi band was talented and fun!

Great experience Fa Tapia's family knows what Mexican food is all about it. There is not need to travel Mexico to enjoy Mexican food, visit Taqueria Autlan de la Grana and you will fulfill your appetite to its fool experience.

Great food, awful service. I've been there twice. The first time, my server took forever to refill drinks and then they charged me for the wrong table. Today, I ate there with my husband and my server got sat a 20-top. My husband and I got completely neglected. Took me an hour and a half to eat one meal and have one refill because he paid all of his attention to the other table.

Whoa! My son told me to try this place and I'm glad I did! Fabulous food and a great atmosphere. Excellent tacos and outstanding queso. We had the carne asada and the barria tacos with the queso blanco and queso flameado. INCREDIBLE!!! Go here now! You won't be sorry!

I can't believe this was my first time trying this local spot! The ambiance is unmatched, they have live music and everything feels so authentic. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I will definitely be going back soon.

We enjoyed the food very much. The servers were nice and the food was good but the mariachi band was extremely loud and after it started we had to scream to hear each other lol but we still had a good time.

(This review is from two visits during November 20, 2023 and Nov 30, 2023) The best real Mexican food in Lubbock, with options that stray beyond Tex-Mex fare and extend into tangible Mexican cuisine. My friend from Coahuila (Piedras Negras) says almost everything he's had here is "pretty amazing" which is a big deal. The first time I went with Claire, I got chilaquiles and she got carne asada tacos-- the rice and beans were SO good and everything was delicious. The second time I went (okay i get it was just a week later, sue me) I went with the boys, and we got carne guisada, birria tacos, margaritas, and Campechana (prawn cocktail). Once again, everything was perfectly seasoned, the campechana was tart/fresh, birria tacos were juicy, and margarita was friggin huge with two different colored salts on the rim. One thing of note, they do have a slight non-cash fee so it's best to pay in cash. By my calculations, it's just under 2%. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Food is phenomenal. The meat is always seasoned well , comes out hot and quick! Sometimes there is a wait but it is worth it. The staff here are very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend :)

The service is fast, everyone is super kind, the restaurant is super clean and the food is always delicious! Never a bad meal and they have many options of salsas more than anyone in town. Highly recommend this amazing spot.

Taqueria Autlan has been evolving over the years, the establishment has always been welcoming and inviting. Bigger and better with new menu options. Greeted when entering with smiling attendants. Quickly seated. Fresh drinks presented and replenished frequently. Our food was delicious and in large portions to take home for nibbles later. Clean restaurant. Clean restrooms. Karaoke on Thursday evenings is always fun. Our kids love the Mariachi when they're here. We've been attending this restaurant since our oldest was a baby, he's 9-yrs old now. If you're looking for something new and fun try the Autlan!

First time experience will be our last! Chips smelled like old frying grease. Salsa was gummy. Like cold sludge. Tried the other salsa options but they smelled rotten. Couldn't get the rotten smell out of my nose so we paid $20 for 3 dr peppers and left. Server had to be tracked down so I could get the ticket to leave. 100% would not recommend!!!

The staff is fast and friendly! The food is soooo delicious! I highly recommend the mole! The Mariache Band live on Fridays 7pm-9pm...so exciting and fun to watch and listen to! This place I come back to all the time! You must come early to get a seat!!

My very first time here a man took me on a date he brought me roses & we both ordered something it was a very nice experience this had to have been in like 2017 he was very respectful. Our waitress was perfect she checked on us like 2 or 3 times.

Best Birria tacos I've ever had. Food is always amazing. Service is the fastest I've ever seen even when they are busy. Can be loud when mariachi band is there but usually not a rowdy place to eat. 9/10 would recommend.

This is literally the best Mexican food I've had in Lubbock and maybe anywhere for that matter. First, the homemade chips and sauces/salsas (that's right- plural-- so many to try-- so ASK) are out of this world!!! Second, the corn tortillas are homemade and easily the best I've had. Third- the tacosssss--I had one taco birria and one soft chicken taco, with beans and salad. Both tacos were outstanding-- the birria is hands down incredible. They put a great deal of preparation in the meat and then the way they prepare the taco.... OH MY GOODNESS!!!! The drinks are also yummy. Go TODAY, and you will return.... seriously!

When we arrived it wasn't much from the outside but it was packed. We thought there would be a long wait but we were immediately seated. A server immediately gave us chips and salsa and took our drink order! We could see the band keying up to play. We had no idea there would be music! It was wonderful. It is a little loud and if you want an intimate conversation-- this isn't the place. Inside is just a big bright square but appears clean. The food is authentic and came out quickly. My beef enchilada combo plate was good albeit a little salty. I expected ground beef and got carnitas but was tasty. Beans good. Rice okay. My fiancé got the crispy stuffed rellenos. He ordered beef on them and they forgot. My kids got the kids enchiladas and corn dogs. My daughter loved the enchilada but thought it was salty too. The corn dogs were okay. Our server was attentive and friendly! Definitely recommend!!!!

Y'all, This is the best Mexican food in Lubbock!! Authentic, taste great and the staff is kind and always accommodating. They have the best authentic mexican breakfast, The 1st 4 times I went, I just had breakfast dishes because I couldn't venture away from it cuz it was all so good! The shrimp cocktail is so fresh and they don't skimp you on the amount of shrimp they put in it! I ordered the small and there were probably 12 medium size shrimp! A Bloody Mary & The menudo on a Sunday is one of my favorite things...just don't remind me I'm eating tripe lol (Fun fact: Tripe is an excellent and generally inexpensive source of lean protein!) This is also my go to for Taco Tuesday!! Their tacos are great and the salsa bar is perfection! They also have a drive thru so you can always get tacos to go! Highly recommend this place, It never disappoints.

Other than is being short inside the building, they never miss on the food . I love the street tacos , they're delicious. Even when ordering a lot , it comes out at a decent time even when they have a full house . They greet you at the door and make sure you're taken care of asap.

This place never disappoints. Michelada was refreshing and the ostiones were decorated with shrimp ceviche. Top notch.

The food was not that good sorry my steak tasted burnt like the grill not clean and eggs over cook and potatoes are old like it's was cook two before beans were okay taste like Bush beans Only thing was good was the drinks and the Chorizo con Papas was not too bad. Over nice buildings the idea is good but the food not up to the task sorry I tell the truth

The best Mexican food in Lubbock! Finally, someone here knows how to make a real, delicious Chile Relleno! Correct cheeses in every dish we've tried. And their rice, beans and salsa are excellent. Fresh ingredients. Good variety. Moderate prices. A Lubbock winner!

I came to Taqueria Autlan based on a recommendation from a co-worker. I was not disappointed. Excellent caldo de res and tacos de birria. I love their salsa. It's quite savory and the chips seem to be made in house. I did ask for a spicier salsa for my meal. She served me a salsa that was . Very authentic food. Genuinely nice people working. The only thing I can say that needs improvement is the flour tortillas. I am not sure what it was about them but they did not seem to be made in house. It's Almost as if they were store bought, But even then I ate both of them without hesitation.

The Santana is awesome as is their fajitas. Beer on draft is ice cold. I love this place.

Excellent: menudo, barbacoa tacos, lengua tacos. Yum! I'd come back for the menudo. Not great: carne asada tacos. Dry and not so tasty. Lame: terrible salsa. Watery, flavorless, and no heat. Also, their tortillas don't seem to be homemade and weren't great. Wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. There was karaoke when I went on a Thursday evening.

This night I felt like, ok it's time to say something. First off they brought out each of our plates one or two at a time (there were 7 of us). We have manners and don't eat before each other there was almost 20 minutes from the first to the last served. My husband was the last served. When he got about 2/3 through his meal, he tried to cut his chili relleno and pulled out a big ole piece of parchment paper! About 6 inches by 4 inches. When we showed our waitress she took it to the manager. The manager came to us and said. "Oh, you found a little piece of paper in your food." I told her no ma'am he found a very large piece of paper in his food! She asked him if he wanted another one but of course he didn't not. We had hoped that since he had to wait 20 minutes extra and found a foriegn object in his food that they would not charge us for that experience. Nope... Full charge. On top of all of that, all of us that had any kind of beef struggled to eat it. Very tough. I am sorry to say, I don't like to write bad reviews, but we won't be back.

My boyfriend and I are brunch at Taqueria Autlan on a Sunday morning before heading out of town. We started with a queso (it was blah). I ordered a Mexican Coke (yummm) and a build your own breakfast burrito. My boyfriend got the chilaquiles. I got potato, egg and cheese in my burrito since it was one of the only vegetarian options on the menu. It was pretty tasty! It didn't come with any rice or beans. My boyfriend said his chilaquiles were okay but has had better elsewhere. We originally chose this place because we thought we could get some breakfast tacos. Sadly, they don't start tacos until 2pm on Sunday's!!

Definitely more on the authentic side. Which we love! The salsas were a little bland. Bean and rice were good. Husband and kids got fajitas & they were just okay. We prefer Arandas Taqueria but they were closed. We might try again if our favorite place is closed again.

Best authentic Mexican food you could find in Lubbock! This is my new favorite spot for sure! Thursday-Sunday they have street tacos outside of the actual restaurant. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Happy to answer any questions you have about the menu. You get some pretty good sized servings for what you're paying! They also have a pandulce cabinet and other desserts for sale at the register. They have a pretty decent sized parking lot though I think it's shared with the building connected to it. The inside is pretty big, lots of booths and tables that seat 4. Mexican music plays through out the restaurant. I ordered the meat quesadilla, you can choose between chicken or beef fajita meat, I chose the beef and it was just perfection! It also came with rice and beans which were also super good! I will defiantly be back.

Not a family friendly place. I do not recommend this business! Came here from Dallas with my son's family. They have been here 100's of times. The two kids come for the mariachi band on Friday. My 5 year old grandson has a severe food allergy and we have to bring special food for him. The owner denied us service because we brought in special food because of grandson's severe food allergies. We even told her we would buy a child's plate to accommodate them. She didn't care. So we left with a 5 year old crying because he could not stay and hear the band.

Well i have been looking for a real mexican place in lubbock. The place outside looks like any real mexican place. A litlle grim but we went in and sat at a table offeref by the server hostess. We ordered tacos and a ceviche tostada and horchata water. Tacos were good flavor wise and very well served price was cheap even though they are small tortilla tacos. Onion and cilantro and the salsa bar is what tells me this place is real mexican. No tex mex here. The ceviche tostada was perfect. Fish and shrimp. Love this place and will come back soon

Nice restaurant inside. Very clean and pleasant. Staff and wait staff very friendly ! I went 1st time with my husband and friends. I did not like the combo cheese enchilada stuffed with a gob of cheese, covered with too much red sauce. It was cold. The beef taco was fairly good. Friends loved the relleno, or puffed shrimp . I, personally , probably won't return.
