Delicious food with surprising portions. I had (stuffed) verde chicken enchiladas w/rice, beans, a jalapeño and boiled potato and it was all very flavorful. My daughter had three (stuffed) tacos w/plenty of cilantro and onions, rice and beans. We were served limes, complimentary (warm) chips and delicious red and green salsas. There are various salsa bottles already at the table. *The boiled potato, grilled jalapeño, limes, chips and salsa without asking, two different salsas and the amount of food were excellent bonuses We went on a Tuesday night and a young lady was taking table orders, serving tables, making drinks, taking phone orders, taking to-go orders, bagging up food and handling the register- all with a genuine smile and service. The decor was basic and I'm sure that, had we asked, our requests would've been met for the ceiling fans be turned on, because it was hot in there or that either the music or the TV sound be turned down. We'll definitely be back.

I have been eating at taquerias since 2009 and even cook my own Chile relleno, and Lengua tacos, I consider myself very well experienced in Mexican cuisine. Machetes, huaraches, huitlacoche.. this Diablo blanco knows some Mexican cuisine. I guess I should’ve spent more time in the reviews because I did not expect to find hot temperature, heated up like a soup red and green salsa that honestly tasted like it came from a can from the grocery store, but I think even those would taste better. It really just tasted like watery tomato soup. Yuck. The lengua was actually doused in some very salty, cheap seasoning, and some rancid oils .. inedible. I had to drown it in lime juice that they were thankfully generous with. Oh and it was tough- yea, tough lengua. You read that right. And even though it is an authentic taqueria joint, usually they at least know some English. Well, this girl did not know any English at all not a single English word. Thank God I know at least a little bit of Spanish. Still it made things pretty difficult and a customer had to step in to translate for her. I don’t know I guess because she didn’t know English, but I didn’t get checked on a single time after getting the meal, even though I wanted to order some sour cream. Not really sure how I would’ve even ordered it even whenever I tried to speak some Spanish she still didn’t really understand I guess because of my accent. Definitely felt like the odd gringa out.

Google
Environment is Beautiful and the service outstanding 👏 no wait time and didn't wait on food very long plus waitress seemed to enjoy working there. I can't wait to go back again.

Google
VERY helpful/knowledgeable waitress; food service was prompt and delicious; would HIGHLY recommend this small, unassuming restaunt buried in a small strip-mall in Plano, Texas.

I loved the hot salsa! It was warm and hot. The meat tasted really good. Won't think twice to return. I had to order takeout.

Google
We have been coming here for years. The shrimp and octopus cocktail is the best I have had in Dallas. Excellent food.

Google
Pastor & fajita tacos were very good! Haven’t had Al pastor this good in a long time

Google
The atmosphere is awesome. The staff are all very kind. The food was DELICIOUS and for what you pay the portions are huge. The salsa roja/Verde was incredibly good. Cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
EXCELLENT!!! I had the barbacoa tacos... add the avocado salsa, and they were truly incredible. Same for the rice and beans. The dish came with a true verde salsa (not like anything I've ever seen) that I almost missed out on. A bit more heat, and a more complex flavor. Service was excellent. Will help if you can speak Spanish, but the waitress helped me navigate my order flawlessly. Great smile, super kind. I highly recommend if you want a more authentic Mexican food experience!! Oh, cash pay will save you a service charge. Did I mention authenticity??

Yelp
We just happened to be in the area & El Torito had been recommended. Since it was lunch time, I had their Torta Cubana & my wife had their taco platter. The only reason they are getting 3 stars is because of the Torta Cubana, it was the greatest one I've had, but it was almost gone by when I was done with it. Unfortunately the tacos were pretty bland... I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but they're $10 for 3 tacos rice & beans, they'd better be pretty damn good! Fajita, Lengua & Barbacoa, didn't matter how much onions, cilantro and salsa was added... they were just flat. Taqueria Los Angeles, you're next!

Yelp
I often times come back here whenever I'm craving tacos. A little resturant off the main road, I'm glad to have found this place even if it is a little ways away from me. Their tripas and lengua tacos always hits the spot for me, especially with their salsa verde. Tripas could be crispier and the lengua (while super soft and tender) could be more flavorful.

Yelp
If this place ended a war, it'd be Taqueria El Treaty If it were a right wing ass**** in England, it'd be Taqueria El Tory And if it were my gf's yelp pix, it'd be Taqueria El Oilytoes Ooh. So by no means was this wonderful Mexican food. But it was good, a little bit like Cesar's late night Mex food also iN Dallas, and service was really nice here. We were very delighted that they were willing to serve us very late at night, close to their closing time, when chairs had already been turned upside down. I hate doing that but we were starving. The food is closer to a four, but considering how late they served us, and that the prices are affordable, and that the service was really nice, I will give them a five.

Yelp
La comida sabe deliciosa, sirven una excelente porción. El lugar es limpio y el servicio excelente, sé que volveré, todo se me antojaba.

Sayonara R.

Yelp
The salsa's are greatness, homemade, different from any salsa i've had anywhere else! Homemade flour and corn tortillas too!!!!It was hard to choose which salsa to put on the oh so piled high fajita sopes. The service is wonderful all the ladies were very pleasant. The coffee cup is so big!!!! Definitely coming back

Yelp
Classic Mexican cuisine! Really solid home cooked Mexican food at a great price. This is a go to for our household when we are looking for classic Mexican cuisine at a family style restaurant.

Yelp
I love this place. They've been in this spot a long time and the food is still delicious. Very friendly staff. I've only done call ahead and carry out so I don't know how the wait staff is. The parking lot is a little tight so it's sometimes hard to find a park. The shrimp dinner and tacos are delicious.

Yelp
This is REAL Mexican Food, with all original taste from Mexico
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
This is where you find authentic Mexican food that is delicious. Had the tacos de lengua which I know is beef tongue but if you can get past that it was amazingly delicious. It's off the beaten path but worth the search, very friendly staff

Yelp
Came to use my Restaurant.Com gift certificate, only to find out as I'm ready to pay, that I had to bring the print out because the owner doesn't have the right tools to redeem something that he/she decided to be a part of. Not only was I not able to use my certificate, I also lost it, because it's "used" once you press the validate button. Besides that, the food was actually quite good. Would have definitely come back, but now I'm disappointed, especially because they didn't try to help me out AT ALL, server had this "oh well, sorry for you" attitude.

Taylor D.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this restaurant only has 3.5 stars. This is some of the best **authentic** Mexican food you can find. The staff is always friendly, the refried beans make you wanna slap yo momma, the salsa could be served as a soup and I would suck it down... there's honestly not enough good I can say. It's a private owned hole in the wall and although by the appearance it may not look like much, if you want real Mexican food, this is the place to go
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
Super good! Really nice people working here. We came to Texas on vacation from California and wanted to check out the Mexican food right away. Sopes were delicious and the chimichanga was wonderful. I ordered an horchata, so refreshing!
google avatar

Veronica D.

Yelp
I ordered 3 tacos barbacoa, lengua, and fajita. All 3 lacked flavor, would not be retuning.

Joshua S.

Yelp
la peor comida que eh probado, la quesadilla estaba mal echa, ni siquiera me pusieron sour cream, y los tacos olian super mal, el peor restaurante en plano
google avatar

Shubha S.

Yelp
Tried it today for lunch at the recommendation of a coworker. It is a hole in the wall place but had enough seating. Felt very authentic as we walked in. The chips and salas were good, nice variety of flavors and heat levels. Most of my coworkers ordered a variety of tacos that they all liked. I got a chicken gordita and a couple of chicken tacos. It was way too much food. The chicken in the tacos was so dry, I could barely eat it. The gordita was good though, quite flavorful and with moist chicken! Will have to go back and try other things. Very reasonably priced for lunch.

Yelp
So I have been here once before for breakfast tacos which were great! Now I figured I would hit the place up for lunch and checkout there regular tacos. Barbacoa good flavor, but nothing to write home about. Beef fajita was awesome, crispy yet tender and good flavor Pollo (I usually don't like chicken at real taqueria because they put the least amount of effort in the flavor) nice smokeiness here Carnitas, actually real carnitas here....flavor, meh...leaves a lot to be desired. Pastor, ok but not great Green salsa very fresh and tangy Red salsa is sweet tasting Overall not bad. If you have a choice between this place and the place next door....this should be your first choice.

Yelp
I used to frequent this Taqueria. Normal tortilla size street tacos, about $1.60 each. The tacos come with fresh onions and cilantro, as well as grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño. They have 3 salsas they usually bring with cups, a cocktail sausage type and a red and green salsa. Beware of the red salsa, it is usually very spicy! Unless you like that. The Taqueria, itself, is in a Hispanic strip mall. Most of their clients are Hispanic. Definitely a hole in the wall. So the tacos must be good right? I would say, on average yes. However, last time I went, they were short of ok. So I'm torn, and this review encompasses every single experience I've had there. The staff speaks Spanish mostly, their menu is in both Spanish and English and they have much more than just tacos. The staff is friendly and attentive. They take credit cards. The place looks a little rough around the edges. Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
My favorite Taqueria in collin county. Good service, great food! Really good taco specials, good breakfast. I don't know what more you can want from a taqueria

Yelp
Best fish I think I've ever had. Pescando frito I think it was called. Excellent!! I can barely speak Spanish but a coworker of mine told me about the place. He said it's one of the oldest Mexican places in Plano. I'm not sure about that but what I do know is the fish is delicious.
google avatar

Abriel G.

Yelp
The potatoes were French fries!!! They had no beans. How do you have no beans at a Mexican restaurant?! My breakfast taco consisted of French fries & burnt chorizo. Worst taco ever!
google avatar

Chantal B.

Yelp
First time trying out this place that we accidentally discovered. The food was really good so far. They served 3 awesome sauces for your chips the minute you sit down. That was really amazing. I really love my chicken quesadilla but my chicken tacos was a little bland. The tostadas was okay. Overall, this place is cheap and the food is better than other places.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
Simple no frills little diner with table service. Great homemade salsas and one of the best tortas in town. Fried potatoes are fantastic. For those of you that do not frequent these great little Hispanic establishments this would be one to try.

Jeanette A.

Yelp
Nice people! A well served plates. Everything is delicious and homemade. Favorite place to bring the family for the real stuff.

Dean P.

Yelp
1st time visiting - attentive friendly service. I ordered huevos con chorizo - some of the best I've had! My friends got various tacos and they enjoyed their food too. The building is downscale and the pricing reflects that. No prob for me. Definitely will return!

Yelp
Doesn't deserve 0.0.....while visiting Plano for a tournament. On Sunday morning my son wanted breakfast tacos and found this place on his maps app. I drove to this location and placed an order for 4 tacos. There's another taco place in the same center so I walked over there to place an order for 4 of their tacos. I walked out and went to my car and smoked a cigarette while waiting. I walked back to this location and looked in saw my son waiting and walked to the other taco place....order ready and done.....go back to this location and waited 40 minutes for 4 tacos while watching the blatant neglect of having other orders being filled from customers that came after I placed my order. I told the girl that I have a Hispanic wife and it shouldn't take 40 minutes to make 4 tacos.....she told me...have your wife make you some then.....I dumped my order on the floor and stepped on it....I wonder if it took 40 minutes to clean the mess off the floor.....I wouldn't donate a dime to anyone having any charity event hosted by this place....PURO BASURA

Yelp
They have the best tortas in town; however the salsas were not the most appetizing and the chips were served partially burnt.
google avatar

Serouj P.

Yelp
Arturo best server ever on earth excellent service...Arturo catered to all our needs, he's like a mind reader.

Dulce G.

Yelp
Good food, service was alright. The Tortas are amazing they came served with wedges and the salsas are home made.

Yelp
Just had the BEST Mexican dinner and ran home to tell you about it. This place is located in a small strip mall with other Hispanic stores and restaurants. Don't let the location deter you and do not confuse Taqueria El Torito with Taco Rico which occupies the opposite end of the same building. We were the only Anglos in the place. The staff barely spoke English but were attentive and friendly. We were served chips and given 3 types of salsa and they were warm not cold like Tex-Mex. Two were red and one green. The first salsa was smokey and spicy, the other sweet with medium heat and the green one was mild. There is nothing I can compare it to but 2 of the 3 were good. I ordered cheese enchiladas and a barbacoa taco. The barbacoa was tender and seasoned perfectly. The enchiladas had the perfect ratio of filling to tortilla topped with a brown sauce. It was served with guacamole, rice, refried beans and chopped tomato, cilantro and onion. Yum. My husband had a whole fried catfish and his meal was served with rice, beans, french fries, and warmed tortillas. The fish was fried golden and was very flavorful. The rice and beans were average but the main entrees were above average. I am definitely going back for more.

Yelp
I Drive all around town as a courier working for the last 15 years and tried to stop and sample tacos wherever I can. I have tried many many places and rarely am I ever very impressed. That being said, I must say that the pastor tacos earlier were some of the very best I have ever eaten anywhere. I wasn't too impressed with the salsa Roja, but was very impressed with the salsa verde. It was served more like a green salsa stew. I asked for lots of salsa verde because I didn't realize how big the containers were, so I had quite a bit left over. It was so good I drank it all. If I had liked the salsa Roja more, I would have given it 5 stars.

Yelp
I love this place. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food. Come here. They have gorditas, caldo de mariscos, and tortas to die for. My favorite is the tacos.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
One of my favorites restaurants to get authentic Mexican food , plates are big & great taste . I highly recommend this place ! Nice customer service.

Ambar D.

Yelp
This Taqueria it's still open and they have authentic Mexican food! The tacos are really good and the ingredients are fresh.
google avatar

Chad F.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular! Fresh food, hand made corn tortillas.....what could be better???
google avatar

Deborah D.

Yelp
I love this place. The staff is helpful to gringos who don't speak Spanish. They have a little TV with Telenovas always playing. I usually do take out, but it is probably the best little taco joint in Dallas, and no one knows about it but the locals

Maria W.

Yelp
Worst service ever! I called to complain on my food and got hung up on! I'd like to post a picture of the crap they served me.
google avatar

Floyd A.

Yelp
Typical taqueria, nothing special. The food was decent, salsa was good and fresh. Service was excellent.

Lonnie B.

Yelp
My friend found a coupon to get a small plate FREE. We drove from Farmers Branch to Plano and Management say they are under new owners and they will not honor the coupon, The catfish plate was good all of the sauses were to hot for a gringo!
google avatar

Yelp
WOW! I really didn't expect THAT! Not much from the outside. But inside it smelled wonderful! Great service. And the food...AWESOME! What's different about this place is that they brought the chips and salsa like always, but the salsa was warm like soup! It was great! Chunky, and two kinds, green and red. For lunch I had the catfish. It came on the bone, the whole fish, minus the head and scales (thank the Lord). Fresh made tortillas, fresh pico, guacamole, lettuce, beans and rice, a grilled jalapeno, French fries (I don't know why) and lemon wedges. I also had a Jaritos Limon, mexican soda. I was the only white guy in there at that time and enjoyed watching Mexican soap operas on TV with the crowd. What a kick! I had a great time and will definately go back!!
google avatar

Eduardo R.

Yelp
the food was great not so much the salsas and the chips. overall the experience was great i will highly recommend this place my Wife and I will return soon

Yelp
I love the food there it is some of the best Mexican food I have had. The customer service there on the other hand is the worst. I have ordered food to be picked up when I'm at work. They have messed up my order in a couple of occasions. One of the times I ordered some shrimp tostadas and got steak quesadillas. Another time I ordered 2 burritos, one with Asado w/beans the other Chicharon w/beans and I got 2 burritos one fajita w/rice and the other Chicharon w/rice (this combination was disgusting). When I called the first time they told me that I had to take my food back so that they can exchange it, I argued with them for a few minutes but at the end they told me I could go back on another occasion and get what I ordered. The second time, I called they told me I can take my food the next day so that they can give me a refund. Keep in mind I am at work and I only have one lunch break so I either eat the food they gave me or starve. They are so rude when you call and on top of things they are not willing to fix their mistake. I feel so disappointed. never going back again the customer serve is not worth the food.

Maggie M.

Yelp
I'm from East Texas, in Plano for a couple of days, went to this place for dinner because of google and yelp reviews, such a DISAPPOINTMENT. I gave them one star because the amount of food that's on the plate is big. Service was not good, I asked for an ague fresco, a sprite for my child, and my husband ordered plain water. My child and I got our drinks, but his water never came. We thought, "oh, it probably slipped their mind, it will be out in a minute." WRONG. We had to ask for his water not once, but TWICE. This was about 25 min. after I got my drink. Next, my daughter got a chicken salad, we asked for ranch, ranch came after 15 min. My husband got his plate, he said it was nothing special, but like I previously stated, it was a lot of food. Well, my child finished her salad, my husband was just about done with his food, and my plate still wasn't in front of me. All I kept getting from the waitress was, "it will be out in a bit." I could understand it taking forever if it was busy, but it wasn't! There were about 2 other tables when we got there including 2 guys waiting on their to-go order, they ended up getting their order AFTER my child and husband got their plates. That's how long the wait was. This other man came in to eat there... NOPE! He told them, "Make it to-go instead, it's taking forever." If they felt like it was a "busy" night (which it wasn't), why not have another cook?! It was ridiculous! Finally, I got my plate, pollo roztisado... NOTHING special at all. It was very bland and dry. The salsa wasn't even good, so it added no flavor to the chicken.Tortillas were home-made and tasty, and the beans and rice were ok. That was the only good thing about this restaurant.

Alberto Z.

Yelp
when there with friends and kids. (6) of them under 11 years old.....they had very inappropriate program showing on their T.V set. the staff were very reluctant to change the channel. very disappointed on their common sense on the programing they had selected at noon. with kids present.
