Taqueria Gloria

This little local place is just a block from my apartment so most of the time I just get my food to-go and every time, it’s phenomenal!! Really can’t go wrong with anything and it’s always packaged nice and tastes fresh. My favorite is the pollo tacos dorados (flautas.) Other favs are the chicken tortilla soup, quesadillas, pinto beans, and of course a Mexican Coke!

As a mexican person, this place is so bad . Quality of the food is just not it.

The food is decent, but unfortunately, I've gotten hair in my food twice. I've ordered multiple times. Yesterday, I ordered enchiladas and there was hair wrapped around the meat, which is very unpleasant. I complained the first time. This was the last time I'll order food from there! I even sent the pictures to Grubhub!

This place was very good, but the employees don't take orders and insinuate things about not having paid. I find it very unpleasant that they say irrelevant things. Honestly, the food is good, but the employees are unpleasant.

I haven’t had tacos in sooo long and tbh this is the best tacos I’ve ever had. I don’t think anyone could top them right now. I would highly recommend everyone to stop at this restaurant and order here cause it taste soo fresh and it’s perfectly warm. This is a family own business and they are very sweet to everyone.

Food (5/5): Wow, wasn't expecting it but this place has some really great tacos! We got the carne asada and Al pastor, both were really delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Al pastor which had good textures with the pineapple. We also additionally added the tacos dorados, crispy fried tacos of pollo and chorizo flavors which were also delicious and well made. Service (5/5): The server had a great attitude and was super friendly. Food came out reasonably fast and was good. Ambiance (4/5): Nice looking shop with good Mexican flag decorations hung up. Seats and venue was overall clean and nicely laid out.

Wow the drastic difference from my last review to now...or maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I ordered flautas and tacos. Absolute shit. I took two bites of each order and called it a day. Never again. Quality of food declined since my last review and I just would nevvverrrr again

This was my second time ordering this exact meal. The first time it was AMAZING ! There was peppers & onion within the steak , it was tender. The rice and beans are great and the guacamole was good as well. The second time I ordered this came. Good still just cold and no onions or peppers. I'm literally down the block so on both occasions I was pretty annoyed that my food was cold. The food has great flavor , the people taking the order were super polite and accommodating when answering, which I love. Besides the food being a little cold , I'd highly recommend this establishment. The prices are great as well.

Cheese enchiladas are recommended for the assertive green sauce. Enjoyed a tamarind drink tonight. Gloria's is optimized for delivery, with super-careful beverage packaging and brisk speed, and the operating hours are generous.

Came here and ordered the breaded beef torta to go. The beef was hard to chew. It seemed it wasnt properly seasoned and tendered...

Good quality, reasonably priced, with a diverse menu. Great for takeout. I quite like the chicken burrito and the chicken soup. Good tamales too.

We tried a bunch of Mexican food spots in jersey city and every time we come back to Gloria's. We are no longer going elsewhere. They offer authentic, delicious dishes made with fresh ingredients, perfect sauces and spices, and love. Not only do we think their food is the best, but their prices can't be beat.

The great reviews here made me give this Mexican spot a chance, but oh boy did it fall short of expectations. I ordered the bistec a la Mexicana, and despite the whole authentic Mexican ambiance, the meal was a big disappointment. Things started bumpy when I was told the price went up for this dish while I was ordering. But I proceeded since the owners seemed nice. But then when I got home and opened the tray, I just had to laugh. It was like a plate made for a kid! First impressions are a big deal, and when I saw what was included in this $14 dish, I was already floored. The serving of steak was decent, but this entree only came with about 2 tablespoons of rice, tiny tortillas, and a scoop of guacamole. There was a reasonable amount of meat, but it had just enough rice to feed a 1-year-old infant. And, to my surprise, there were no beans or veggies added! What Spanish restaurant doesn't serve beans with the rice??? For a $14 entree, I was expecting a decent meal, not a snack. And since the taste was just OK, I felt kind of ripped off. In comparison, there are other Mexican restaurants nearby that have far more flavorful dishes, more sides, bigger portions, and cheaper prices. Due to the great reviews, I gave this spot a chance and fell for the hype. But "overpriced and underwhelmed" describes my experience best. Needless to say, I won't be eating here again.

Just down the block from my apartment. Thank goodness because it's delicious, y'all Food was ordered earlier than expected but even after 20 minutes, the grub was good. Ordered through Yelp and it was super easy. Food and iced coffee was packed neatly and wisely (hot food on top, cooler bit on the bottom). I picked up but for delivery that's important! Ordered the Nachos Rancheros, steak torta and a black ice coffee. (Sorry! Only took pic after I ate the nachos so it kinda steamed in there) [Edit: added pic! I had a craving for the nachos Rancheros again. Added steak for extra $3. Oh! And it was ready in five minutes- lol]

Their nachos are amazing. Ive had the beef and cheese gorditas but prefer the cheese. Super good.

I love this place! I have ordered here almost once a week since moving to the area. The steak tacos are double tortilla with cilantro, lime wedges, salsa verde and salsa roja. They are capital-a-mazing! Loaded with meat and flavor. I get guacamole on the side and drop some on top to cut the red sauces heat. Last night we ordered the tamales for the first time. We ordered 4. Big mistake. These boys are HUGE! I dropped some sour cream and Tabasco on top sprinkled with crackers. No one ever taught me how to eat a tamale so sorry if I'm doing it wrong but I like it that way :)! We loved them. They will be a staple on future orders. Someday I will have to go visit the actual restaurant but for now it's all delivery. They always include tons of sauces. Can NOT recommend enough! PS, I've ordered here on UberEats a few dozen times and never had a lost order. Not once.

I order from Taqueria Gloria fairly regularly, and two stars go to them for delivering all the way to the other side of Jersey City. Another star goes to them for carrying Mexican Coca Cola...the one with real sugar and not carcinogenic high fructose syrup. The Sidral Mundet, apple soda, is a delicious treat as well, not easily found in supermarkets, so give it a try; it pairs well with the dishes. It was an unexpected pleasure to the palate, at least for me who didn't know anything else besides apple juice. The food. The food is a party for the senses; that's what Mexican cuisine is to me. Nourishing, healthy, comforting, happy, simple. Chorizo huarache and shrimp huarache are my favorites. The picadillo gordita is excellent. They have it on the menu as ground beef gordita; the ground beef is picadillo. The picadillo is the same ground beef mixture with spices that you normally find in empanadas. That gordita is amazing, not oily, not overwhelming, good amount of protein, veggies and carbs. It could really make for a complete meal. The carne cecina might not be for everyone. The quality of the food is consistent. I never had a bad chorizo or a nasty shrimp from them. So if you find your staple food, you can stick to it and be assured that it won't change in quality/taste. If you are in the mood of something simpler, Gloria has hot beverages perfect to accompany a filling breakfast. I unfortunately do not live close enough to enjoy their breakfasts, but if I did, I would be a "plasta" and patronize the place on the regular.

Best part of this restaurant are the menu pictures. Food was chewy, cold and unimaginative. Servers were friendly but their service didn't improve the food quality. Ambience was ok but chaotic.

We had another lunch order today. I ordered Pechuga Empanizada (Breaded Chicken) which was just awesome. It came with yellow rice and beans and 3 corn tortillas. It was just right size and plenty of chicken. Hot sauce (red) was great to go with it. Mild sauce (green) was good, too. I would definitely order this dish again. So far I have not had bad food here and others are all happy with their choices. Deliver was timely within 45 minutes, order around 11am arrive just in time for lunch at noon. :)

We all loved our food. I ordered the enchiladas which were good and came with rice and beans and I chose green sauce. The fajitas were really good. I'd definitely come here again for take out or a quick bite. Very fast and good service.

I will now be alternating between this place and my other favorite Taqueria. They're both so different and so good, it was really satisfying food honestly. Decent amount of food for the price and flavorful. I just wouldn't order the platanos again. But I knew I was taking a risk because platanos aren't Mexican so I can't say I'm mad I didn't like them. Def my second favorite Mexican taqueria tho and I hope it's as consistent every time as it was tonight!

Ordered Pollo Taco Dorados and Chicken Gyro from here. Loved the Chicken Gyro. It had ample meat, sauce, veggies were fresh and the bread was soft. Fries was fine too. Taco Dorados which basically is fried tacos was good. It is served with fresh avocado and lettuce. Sour cream could have been more though.

SOO GOOD !! TRY THEIR SOPES DE CHORIZO . I usually tend to go to other Mexican places but I made the extra trip just for the sopes

We love Gloria's!! I swear we order from here at least once a week. Fresh ingredients, nice portions, fast delivery, friendly staff...what more could you ask for? Our favs are the nachos rancheros, chicken torta, chorizo con papa dorados, fried pork burrito, and any of the tacos really. Not crazy about their picadillo dishes, but that could just be because we are used to Cuban picadillo and expecting a different flavor. Anyway, rock on Gloria's!!

Do you stay near Journal Square? Tired of the typical Indian and Chinese food? Looking for something different? Look no further than Gloria's! This Mexican restaurant is God sent in Journal Square Area. Awesome food, reasonable rates and generous quantities! The girl at the counter is super sweet and gave me complementary nachos with salsa while I was waiting to pick up my order. I wish they get on delivery.com, GrubHub and eat24 soon. Fish burrito and chicken nachos are excellent. Guac oozes with freshness! Highly recommended !!

Ordered for delivery (Eat24), they were sort of late but this now seems to be normal with the app... I was very impressed by the food. The portions are very generous, good enough for at least 2 dinners. The taste was as expected which for delivery is quite good. I've had a few where the food is soggy or just cheap/low quality but not these. They have just prepared kind of feel to it. The soup is very chunky and definitely low like it was made from scratch vs from a can. It's not watery at all and actually a bit on the salty-side but... just add me water! I also ordered a Greek salad... But sorta full already... Maybe later will update this review.

I moved to the area very recently, so i'm ordering from restaurants close to my place. Today i was craving some tacos and decided to order delivery from Gloria' Mexican Food. I ordered the Carnitas tacos, Grilled chicken burrito and a soda. Pork was very tender with nice flavor. Chicken was juicy with nice flavor. Both orders were made with fresh ingredients. I was very satisfied with my order. Everything was very good, tender meats, fresh ingredients and good flavor. I would definitely order from this restaurant again! The delivery arrived early than expected and that was a plus to my experience.

As Latino I grew up in manhattan eating all types of spanish food that being mexican, spaniard, puerto rican, dominican, colombian, ecuadorian, argentinian, brazilian, etc.... Taste and flavor is everything so when in Jersey City and in Journal Square stop by this place. Good Clean Mexican Food, Comfort food favorites. Take a path ride and enjoy they have the best bistec empanizado platter in jersey city.

We waited over an hour before calling to inquire where our food was. At this moment they told us that it was on its way. We waited about 45 minutes more and called again when it didn't arrive. They told that it was on it's way and that the driver would be giving us our money back due to our extended wait. When the driver came with our food (mind you this is two hours later) they were unaware of any such promise from the restaurant. We called the restaurant to ask about the details of their fabrication. They informed us that it would be seamless' job to return the money. Upon contacting Seamless they informed us that the restaurant has lied to us. This ordeal has ended my patronage of this establishment. I am writing this in hopes that others don't fall for their bullshit when their order takes too long.

Always a big fan of mexican food. Even though this place is at 2 mins walking distance from my place but I have never heard of it before. Scrolling on yelp for dinner on Saturday snow night, found this and with great reviews ordered dinner from here. We got one chicken burrito and chicken tacos. Firstly, the portion is enormous and it was delicious too. Secondly, the order was delivered before time. Chicken Burrito - 4/5 We had jalapeno wrap with chicken. It has beans, rice and chips(4-5) & salsa. It tastes amazing and looks great too. Good for one heavy dinner. Chicken Tacos - 4/5 It has 4 tacos(each has 2 corn tortillas), grilled chicken and spring & green onions mix. Chicken was little chewy but tasty.

Small Mexican place on tonelle with a huge menu. The place is clean and the girl on the counter was friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable as well. Unfortunately the food was not as good as everything else. We got carnitas tacos, nacho cheese platter and vegetables burrito. All lacked flavor, the carnitas were dry and very mildly flavored. Same with nacho, and the burrito was huge but flavor less. I hope they step up their game soon. Overall - 3/5

As a southern California transplant, I grew up eating real authentic Mexican food...but I could never find the same here that wasn't all tricked out, cooked in the same place that served Chinese food, or was ridiculously expensive (NYC). Then I found Taqueria Gloria - and my search ended! This is the best authentic Mexican food I've found in the entire area! Gloria's tamales are amazing...try the Nachos Rancheros with Chorizo, or the Chicken Enchiladas - her Chips & Salsa are a must! Gloria's staff are very nice and friendly, they deliver fast, the portions are generous, the prices are great and the food is crazy good! What more could you ask for!

The weather was horrible today so my husband and I ordered delivery from here. They delivered quickly (despite the weather) and were very professional. We had a problem with our order and the manager sent someone out right away to correct the order and redeliver food and added a dessert for our trouble! We appreciate the service and him going out of his way to keep us satisfied! Food is great-service was excellent!!

I am new to Yelp, but wanted to write some reviews for places I recently ordered from and highly enjoyed! I have ordered from here a few times now using the Uber Eats app. ((I am unsure if the store provides their own delivery or just uses Uber eats, if their store personally delivers to my area I'd rather go straight through them!!)) I got the chicken enchiladas with salsa verde , steak tacos, & chips and salsa, all of which have been delicious each time I ordered them. The flavor, appearance, etc has been the same each time, too. Quality food and quality timing, has come hot and packaged well each time. One of my favorite Mexican spots in the area! Happy to have found somewhere I can continuously rely on! Try them out!

My roommate and I stopped by here yesterday and we both thought this was a great little find! Walked into the restaurant and were handed a brochure by a friendly employee before ordering (to go). They invited us to sit down while they prepared everything- one guy even came out and brought us complementary chips and salsa while waiting. The food itself was delicious- everything seemed fresh and we especially liked how they made the arroz con leche! Cute addition: they included little chiclets in each of our bags.

Not enough chicken in the chicken enchiladas. If you are the area, I would try Mi Mariachi instead.

I ordered a vegetarian burrito with Mexican Coke for delivery ($10 minimum). Delivery was quick. Nice presentation. The burrito came with a few chips and two types of salsas on the side, one that tasted kind of sweet and one that tasted like cilantro. I liked the latter. The veggie burrito itself came with too many veggies for my liking, including carrots, zucchini, onions and red and green peppers. Overall, I've had better burritos and will probably not reorder.

Cancelled my deliver order after leaving me waiting two hours for it. Don't waste your time.

This restaurant is scamming customers for money. They have themselves listed on post mates, the order gets charged but no food is delivered. When you call you are greeted by an unpleasant woman who has no customer service skills and is apparently the manager. She had no intention of helping me so I hung up the phone. She called back and asked me "why the f did I hang up in her". Seriously uncalled for and rude and now I have lost $40. Do not support this local business. I attached screen shots of them being posted on Post Mates when she insists it is untrue.

This place is pretty amazing! My friend and I didn't have reservations, but they sat us right away. The server who went to seat us actually looked around the room first and after he saw a better table that was empty he sat us there instead. Eddie was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the food telling us that they prepare the food from scratch everyday. We ordered the guacamole with honey and it was very delicious! We also found out that they have two dining rooms, one for adults and kids and the other one for adults 21 and older. The ambiance, service, and food makes this place excellent and I would recommend it to everyone!

Ordered delivery here for lunch on a Sunday. Delivery was fast, and the driver was friendly. I ordered the Cajun chicken burrito and chorizo quesadilla. Both were exceptional and you can definitely tell the quesadilla was authentic. It's not gringo style, so keep that in mind if that's what you were expecting. Can't wait to try other things on the menu. Also to Allison who ordered a Greek salad at a taqueria. Like, girl, what did you expect???? I thought it was such an unfair review of the place. Hope you consider rescinding it soon because you sound like a joke to everybody.

Wow... I've totally been missing out on this place. Have seen it pop up on the delivery list but never gave it a shot until tonight. I'm totally sold. The tacos were amazing and for $2 each I was a very happy camper. Guacamole was perfect and the verde salsa and hot sauce were too. Another gem to add to the JC lineup!

Got assigned to Jury Duty in the area and was looking for something good to eat during my lunch break. This little gem popped up and I decided to walk there. Upon entering, it's nothing much but the place is clean and the welcome was friendly. I'm a self-proclaimed fan of Chilequiles and must order it every time it's on the menu. Verde Chilequiles are my weakness and this place does not disappoint. The price is something you cannot beat! I had a coffee, chilequiles, and a tamale for $11! The tamales were an added bonus since I'm a huge fan of my grandmother's and can only get them when I go home. But this place does a nice job without over drying the masa. All in all a great find and if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

Their Tortas and their steak tacos are nothing short of AMAZING! Found them randomly when I wanted Mexican late at night and guess what? Best choice. One thing that sucks is they can't deliver to far off, you'll have to order their food through seamless or Grubhub but other than that? I'll always order from them!

My boyfriend and I order delivery from here regularly, and I have to say Gloria's makes probably the best authentic Mexican tacos in Jersey City, probably in all of North Jersey. We love their Carne Azada and Al Pastor tacos, the meat is juicy and tender, the corn tortillas have a nice sweetness to them. I've also had on a few occasions their Pollo Verde tamale, the masa is excellent! I've tried their cochinta pibil and carbitas, they are good, but my favorite is still the Al Pastor. Great prices, and they're normally pretty quick with their delivery, often arriving earlier than the expected time. Definitely give them a try if you haven't already!

This restaurant never fails when I order they are always on time and food is great! The only weird thing about them I guess- is that every time they deliver to my job the delivery guy always drops off the food with security and doesn't wait for a tip. I always try to pay with my card through the app and tip in cash but they never seem to wait for it. Other than that I'll keep ordering from here!

The best Mexican food I've ever had in the states, reminds me a lot to my grandma. The real deal. Gorditas, huaraches, sopes, tamales, chilaquiles, huevos a la mexicana, atole, conchas, orejas, tortas, etc.

Really great, authentic Mexican food. No frills, just fresh and flavorful! The "Mexican" quesadillas are MUCH better than the regular kind, and the Sopes were also delicious. The nachos were your average nachos, nothing crazy, but good! The people working there are really kind. Have gone back a few times and will continue to do so!

One day I will make a pilgrimage to the physical shop, but I have to say that as delivery Taqueria Gloria is my go to. It satisfies me everytime- I typically get the Chicken Burrito and its delicious and fresh. I also like the tamales. I've never had anything bad from here and delivery has always been really quick, even in bad weather. I appreciate you Taqueria Gloria for feeding me when I need it most, thank you.
