Google
Food is really amazing the tacos are out of the world when it’s paired with rice and beans it’s yummy definitely going to revisit again. Items we tired Taco plate Quesadillas Enchiladas All the three are a 5/5 it’s spicy and flavorful

Google
Awesome fast service with all the food favorites. I ordered biotechnology, papa and refried bean taco. It was perfect. Had to go order chicken quedadillas. The best! If you want real food that tastes homemade, head over. Guarantee definitely a favorite

Google
Super tasty food! You order and pay in the counter and they bring you the food. The best tacos I’ve had recently! Comes a 3 great tasting sauces. I had the Taco de Pescado and they were delicious! So close to the Denton court.

Google
Always happy to get some Guanajuatos. If you call they answer the phone and take orders very quickly, and though they're always busy, they move through the lines quickly. Parking is limited and the dine-in seating is limited, but you really feel it because the food is so good. To me, this is the premiere taco of Denton, Texas. Bested only by Sabrocita's weekend late hours, Guanajuatos leads in taste, friendliness, speed, and enjoyability. The tortas are fantastic, the tacos are delicious. I used to even order wings from here. The torta guanajuatense is my absolute recommendation. Though you have to pay for the chips and salsa, they're so fresh, and the salsa is served in a warm molcajete. Incredibly delicious. I like to go and practice my Spanish, but it's not needed. My only warning: do Not get the nachos.

Google
The best authentic Mexican food you will ever find. A hidden gem that I was introduced to within my first year in Denton. Forget Tex-Mex! This is the real deal. A lot of interesting meats to choose from (I'm sure they are great I'm just not a big meat eater!), but my favorite are the cactus (nopales) tacos! Gorditas are amazing! Seems most customers are Mexican (good sign!), but they have never rolled their eyes at the gringo trying to sprinkle in whatever Spanish I can muster :) And if you get a couple tacos it will satisfy your stomach and your wallet far more than fast food junk!

Google
Came in with our Taco Group and tried a good selection of tacos. The el pastor were my favorite. Each one is tried has great flavor and were just all around really good tacos. We also had to chips and salsa and I love salsa is served warm! Definitely worth the stop to try this place out!

Google
We ordered de Torta Texana w/fries and the chicken quesadilla plate. The price did not reflect the quality - you don’t get a lot of food and it was just okay. As you can tell by the pictures, they weren’t very generous with the meat on the torta, or the rice and beans with the chicken quesadilla. The torta was $10.99, the fries $4.99, and the quesadilla plate $11.99. They also charge a card fee. We did order the food to go so it’s possible that impacted the size of the rice and beans. Not sure. I would say overall… we would rate it a 7/10.

Google
This use to be my spot a couple years ago. The last few times I went the food wasn’t great and the prices were high. The Barria chicken tacos were a huge disappointment. They should change to shedded chicken not the cubed stuff. Not a bad spot by any means, very mid.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite comfort spot when I don't want to cook. I will say lemon / onion/ cilantro are inconsistent. Some days I order and get too much and others not enough by a lot. When I'm sick I would pay an arm and a leg more for their menudo. The tacos are wonderful. The seating is just ok but the parking is my nightmare- especially for Denton/ where too many people don't care if they hit your car. I always come up the side road and park there and walk to Guanajuatos. The staff is always on point and very efficient though- they will not keep you waiting, but this place will absolutely have you coming back for more.

Yelp
Hard opinion that these are the best tacos in Denton, TX. Love the tacos, from nopales to fajita, corn or flour. Definitely try the signature guanajuatense tacos or the torta - amazing, and i ordered it for years. Not a bad lunch deal on some of the apps for lunch, and I even get wings from them. The chips & salsa appetizer you DO have to pay for (sad), but it is worth it - warm salsa de molcajete. Very nice staff, always. The seating inside is hard and the parking outside is even harder, but worth a trip, ESPECIALLY for pickup. You can call in a pickup order and it will usually be ready around when you get there.

Yelp
Excellent Authentic Mexican Food Friendly Staff Quick Service Very small- fits the vibe perfectly Bistec Tampequeno was very good Chips and Salsa also very good. Salsa served warm-good flavor-decent heat. Truth segment: I drove 35 miles to go somewhere else. That place was closed on Sunday ;( When I'm away from home I always try to eat something I can't close to home. I might drive 35 miles to come back here. This turned into a very pleasant Plan B

Yelp
OMG! If you haven't tried this place you're missing out! The staff is super friendly and the food is AMAZING! The salsa is fresh and you can tell it's made daily. The Birria tacos were so packed I couldn't even finish them all. Why I ever went anywhere else I have no clue! I'll be back very soon.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Denton! The staff is always friendly, the food comes out fairly quickly and it's a good place to eat at no matter if it's inside or to go. It is connected to a convenience store so the inside is a bit odd. But I have tried several dishes such as the chicken quesadilla plate, asada taco plate and I had a burrito with beans, rice, French fries, asada, and lettuce. They are all so good! It can however be a little bit pricey considering the type of food it is but I think it's worth the extra penny.

Yelp
After searching for the best taqueria in the Denton area, thus far this one is the best one. I ordered 4 tacos. Apparently here it's weird that they have small or large tacos (large is flour tortilla or corn tortilla and small is just corn). He described the small ones as normal taqueria size and larger ones are like soft taco size, and since price was only like 75 cent different per one, I got 4 of the large ones. The meat? Very flavorful and each one noticeably tasted differently (surprising number of places, you can't tell which meat is which). They actually used 2 tortillas per taco to make it less likely to fall apart (few places seem to do this anymore), and OMG those tacos were stuffed with meat, and had cilantro and onions on them. The Hot sauce, though would be nice to have spicier ones, were actually pretty good as tasted homemade. The green (avocado perhaps?) Was very creamy and the red was liquidly but both had a decent flavor. So, so far out of the 4-5 I've tried in Denton, finally found one I'd gladly return to and $13 for 4 large tacos packed with meat and flavor, in 2023 is a really good price

Yelp
The food was amazing and I would compare it to my Abuela's cooking and she made everything from scratch.

Yelp
IMO, and I've done my research- I promise- this joint serves some of the top Mexican dishes in Denton !
google avatar

Yelp
The steak and chorizo burrito was amazing. Very affordable at $10, flavorful and delicious. The service was very fast and the burrito was served with some really good sauces!

Yelp
So glad I tried breakfast here. Both dishes were amazing. The bread of the torta was perfectly toasted and soft on then inside. There was just the right amount of mayo added. Good amount of eggs and ham on the sandwich. Cant wait to try the other tortas! Breakfast tacos were delish. Next time I'd like to try it with some pico de gallo added. Satisfied again! Can't wait for the next meal from here.

Yelp
I got the chicken quesadilla with beans and rice. It was soo good! The chicken was juicy and the tortilla was fried perfectly- crispy on the outside with a gooey, cheesy inside. The green and sour cream salsas and the veggie garnish (shredded lettuce and a slice of tomato, cucumber, avocado and orange) paired perfectly with the quesadilla and beans and rice. This is the first time I have seen or had cucumber or orange slices with a Mexican dish and tbh it was simply amazing- the flavor combo was incredible! I ordered my food to-go but had to open it and taste test as soon as I was in my car. I ended up scarfing the whole meal down at once, it was just that good! The portion size is really good for the price too. My meal was $12.98 and I started to feel full a little over halfway through eating it all. I will definitely be back to try more from Taqueria Guanajuato.

Yelp
Three of us came to this place at about 5:45pm on Saturday. The FIRST thing we ordered was chips/salsa which was rung up. We each ordered a plate meal. The girl at the register was incompetent and also wanted to rush us through our order. The old man who was hovering over her shoulder was rude throughout our visit. One of us ordered a Coke, when he attempted to get it from the cooler, the old man stopped him and said it would be brought with our meals. IT WASN'T. The old man said "if you want it, get it yourself. Two meals arrived at the table before we were even all seated. NO CHIPS/SALSA. The old man told us we had to pay extra to get chips. We told him we did. His response was pay for them again. When the first two people served were finishing their meals; the third plate finally arrived. We wrapped that food in paper towels to bring home. As we were leaving, the girl at the register said: esos muchachos nesicitan tetera meaning crybabies need a baby bottle. This place is really bad.

Yelp
Huge variety of really good food. I find myself usually getting a torta because they are messy and delicious! Always busy but not too crowded. This place is obviously a local favorite. Reasonable prices and good sized portions. Beer and margaritas are available.

Yelp
Best Mexican food I've had in a Looooong time definitely worth stopping! Wait wasn't too long and was a lot of food.

Mike R.

Yelp
Looking for a hidden treasure?! I Never would have found this place without yelp so I am leaving a review to spread the word. Outstanding food. Mostly a takeout place with some limited seating. Authentic food made to order. Will for sure be back.

Tristiano R.

Yelp
Really good food I must say. Best Mexican food I've ever had. It won't let me write if I don't type more than 85 characters so here

Yelp
The tacos here are immaculate!! Everything appears to be authentic Mexican food with lots of Spanish conversations going in the stores. I finish my tacos in 2 minutes because of how good it is. I got a lengua taco and a pescado taco. Both are super duper good. The inside was cosy and inviting. I will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Yelp
We loveeee Guanajanto!! They do take a while to get your order ready but it's so worth it! I'm normally a carnitas/pastor gal but their chicken is so tasty! I typically will do the tacos with chicken but have tried the torta, it's delish but it's better to sit there and eat. The salsas are soooo good too, yum!
google avatar

Yelp
You know it is good when the line at the counter is consistent. This was our first time visiting this gem in Denton and it was so so good. I ordered the quail in red sauce. It was an absolute delicious mess. My wife had tacos (I can't remember what the meat was), and my son had the steak quesadillas. The food came out quickly. The staff was moving quick, was polite, and tried to answer questions as best they could. People, this place is awesome. Support tiny businesses like this.
google avatar

Darylanne E.

Yelp
Best local spot!! We love their breakfast and order from them at least monthly if not more. Huevos rancheros and their chorizo and eggs plate are our favorites. The restaurant is a little spot next to a gas convenient store in Denton. The service is great and food comes out fast. Love love love

Yelp
Went during lunch on a Thursday. I ordered steak tacos, rice and beans. The food was pretty good, but the salsas were amazing. That was definitely the highlight of the experience. The steak was pretty flavorful and fresh, and the rice and beans were solid. The service was cool, but the restaurant in the connivence store I'm not the biggest fan of but it was ok. Would visit again.

Michelle W.

Yelp
Delicious, authentic, and affordable taco spot on McKinney. This place is attached to a convenience store and parking can be a little dicey. But the staff is super friendly and puts up my terrible Spanish, so it's one of our favorite spots for birria tacos.
google avatar

Carolina E.

Yelp
We picked up some tacos, elote, and sopes earlier this week. We live in Aubrey and always make the drive anytime we are craving authentic tacos. Their salsas are incredible, staff is friendly and food is the bomb.com. You will not be disappointed.

Mrs S.

Yelp
Food was authentic, fresh and the perfect amount of heat! We will definitely one back when driving through Denton!

Zulema J.

Yelp
I ordered the tacos de asada plate, Al pastor gorditas, and agua de horchata. The drink was delicious! It was the perfect amount of sweetness. Taco plate: didn't like the corn tortillas- I wish they were homemade. Small portions of rice and beans. Only gave me one lemon (not even a lime ). Gorditas: Delicious!!!!!! Just perfect and stuffed with deliciousness. Great amount of portions. I got full just by eating one. Salsa: Listen, I have a HIGH tolerance for spiciness. But that red sauce was SPICY it was so good though. The green sauce was NOT spicy at all. The guacamole sauce was good! Overall, I'd only come back for the gorditas and drink. I wouldn't order the taco plate. I would do a pickup order instead of delivery

Yelp
Stopped in for some breakfast tacos. You can't miss here. Fresh On-site home cooking. Friendly What's not to like?

Yelp
I had seen a lot of good reviews and I thought I would like it more than I did. It was a bit busy already around noon on a Sunday. It seemed like most were carry-out orders though. I had to wait a good 5 - 10 mins before anyone would even address me and took my order. I ordered and I assumed they would either hand me the drink or come out with it with me when the food came out. Nope! After a long wait the food finally came out. I asked the server if She could get me water since they didn't give me that when I ordered. She didn't confirm or deny that she would just didn't say anything. The rice and beans were bland, the beans were watery. I can make better beans myself and I even like the Mexican rice from Kroger cooked as directed better. The tacos were pretty small which is fine. All of the meats were crunchy maybe that's the way they cook here but to me it seemed to be overcooked. The chicken taco didn't have much flavor but wasn't too bad after adding sauce. The al pastor and carnitas were good but as mentioned too crunchy for my taste buds. The server was never to be seen again nor my water. I can't remember last time I felt this unwelcome at a restaurant and I have fairly low expectations except to get the food and drink that I paid for. I'm not sure if this was a one off or if my taste buds are different, I like most tacquerias in Denton.

Yelp
Me and a friend got drunk and his gf brought us food from this place and it was great
google avatar

Devin G.

Yelp
If you are looking for legit Mexican food, this is it! The price is reasonable and the food is better. They even sell wings and burgers! There is a small dining area but be prepared to "get in where you fit in it's busy because parking is competitive. The tacos are good but you must try the Torta Cubano!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything I tried was good get there every day especial Bring family and friends you won't regret

Yelp
Now that I've been here a few times, this place has grown on me and is solidly in my top 3 taquerias in town. I have had some minor inconsistencies with some of the meat, sometimes they are amazing and sometimes they are less flavorful and dry or chewy. They are never bland though, not even close! Service varies as well, though my last visit was excellent! Parking is a real problem, at least on weekends and weekday evenings. People make up their own parking spots in the lot, leaving a lot of room between cars, but robbing another 3 cars from being able to park at all. The residential street fills up very quickly. It's gotten to the point that I don't plan to go here, but check the parking lot as we are driving by. Those inconsistencies and the inconvenient parking are the only reason this place isn't a solid 5 stars. It's definitely 4 1/2 stars because of the food though. Did those things seem like they should have been worth more than half a star? Well, you're right, but that's how good the food is! If you want a consistent 5 star experience with the best items in town, then you need to order a carnitas gordita, horchata and a churro. Seriously, those three can't be beat anywhere else in Denton and are on point every single time. I'm a bit obsessed with which taqueria has the best of what and these items will maximize the yummy level of your visit. The carnitas are incredibly flavorful and tender, they melt in your mouth while managing to give you a crisp texture contrast that is delightful. They are good as a taco too, but this place runs small on the tacos so I feel the gordita, with it's beautiful crispy deliciousness, is the way to experience the carnitas. The gorditas are more filling than they look. I usually get tacos and rice too, but that always ends up being too much food. They actually have a lot of churro options, such as strawberry, but I've only ever had the plain and I think they are usually better here than anywhere else. They taste as if they are made fresh daily and are very soft in the center. The horchata- gaahhhh, soooo delicious it hurts!!! Do not bother with their agua fresca, it's doesn't taste like they make them in house and doesn't stack up to the competition, but that horchata is amazing! As I'm writing this, I'm craving that horchata so bad, it really is some of the best you will ever try. The rice is pretty good, nothing special but always up to par. Everything else we've had has varied from visit to visit. The chicken was a little dry last time, but this is consistently my second favorite and is typically cooked very well. The barbacoa is pretty good here with great flavor and texture, but tends to be on the greasy side. The asada is pretty tasty, but seems to run on the chewy side. These things aren't necessarily bad, but worth mentioning so you can make your decision based on your own preference. I've only had the pastor here on two occasions and it was either flavorful but extremely greasy or less flavorful and pretty dry. Since the tacos are smaller here, they are not as good of a value as other places are. The street tacos are basically baby tacos here. The main benefit of getting the tacos is to supplement your meal and be able to try multiple meats. Then, even if one of the meats is only okay that day, you're going to try a variety of delicious food and it's still going to be a satisfying meal. The tortas here don't run as big as other places in town either. In my opinion you are still going to get full, but they don't measure up in portion to other locations. Seating is limited so I've almost always taken it to go. However, the experience is best when you can dine in, the food is extra delicious. There are only about 7 or 8 tables, but I recently discovered they have bar seating behind the partition (technically in the convenience store) and all that seating was available on my last visit despite every table being full. So when you're ordering at the counter, tell them you are dining in. Denton is blessed with many taquerias, but not all taquerias are created equal. This is a solid option in town for some fantastic food and ranks higher on my list than many of them. If you are a fan of either carnitas or horchata, then this is a must try or you'll never forgive yourself!

Yelp
Mom chose this place for her birthday. Hard to find at first. My gosh the Food was amazing! The sauces. The chips the flavor. So so good!
google avatar

Yelp
Always looking for an authentic mexican shop. Found another one! We ordered tacos and a chicken burrito, they were all good. Service was great also. If you like a hole in the wall restaurant, then this is the place. They have limited seatings so beware if you're going to bring your 10+ family members to this place. It's right inside a liquor store.
google avatar

Angel M.

Yelp
Tried for the first time asada and Al pastor tacos, tacos were dry and not tasty at all. Meat was from maybe yesterday? Al pastor didn't even look like fresh meat at all. Weird. I'll stick to my El Tapatio meat market in little elm. This place is not real authentic Mexican tacos. Will never be back. Service is blah, no one is excited to be there. Ambiance is ok.
google avatar

D. Scott C.

Yelp
This joint is legit! Came in with a buddy and he didn't think it would be good, 'cuz it's a dive. Best tacos he's had since CA. Don't come here thinking it has white table clothes on the tables, it does not.
google avatar

Christy S.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic and legit Mexican place. Will be back as soon as we hit Denton again!
google avatar

Briar G.

Yelp
We loved this authentic little spot good food and prices and always friendly faces try the birria it's awesome!

Yelp
We visited this small taco spot on the way home back to San Antonio. We were missing the breakfast tacos from where we're from while visiting Dallas and discovered this joint! Tacos were delicious! I got the potato a la mexicana tacos since I'm vegan. And my husband had the barbacoa ones. I thought the restaurant was pretty cute being inside or attached to a small convenience store. They had a lot of imported goods there which was cool too! The people were so nice here too. Definitely will come back when we're in town again.
google avatar

Patrick A.

Yelp
Ordered from here via DoorDash. The food arrived warm not hot. That's due to the DoorDash driver making an extra stop so not the restaurant's fault. We ordered enchiladas, a shrimp taco, and a gordita. The food was really good. Very authentic and everything tasted really fresh. The shrimp taco tasted like what my wife makes at home and that's a compliment. The only bad thing is they forgot a Gordita and they charged me for it. That is very unfortunate. That's why I took off a star. I don't know what it it's like to dine inside as of yet but once I do I will update my review. But I recommend giving them a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely no social distancing! They have a sign saying masks are required, but 20% of customers were standing in line without a mask. Everyone was crammed in a tiny space, less than a foot apart from other customers. People were doing good just to avoid bumping into each other. The lady prepping to-go orders had her mask hanging by 1 string on her ear. She was touching the drink tops with her hands and had customer drinks with no kid just 6 inches below her uncovered face. One cook had her mask below her chin. The cashier and another cook had masks below their noses. This place is dangerous during Covid. Delicious food. Good prices. Authentic Mexican food with menu items you don't find elsewhere in Denton. Prior to today's visit I would've rated 5 stars.

Ally D.

Yelp
Would not recommend. Charged me $35 for 2 small tacos floutas and a sprite. Then would not give me the itemized receipt. Once they finally did they were NUMEROUS charges for things I didn't even order. I'm talking 5 extra charges. I asked for extra salsa and limes 3 TIMES before I received them although they had no problem charging me for them. Said sprite was $5. Charged me $4.99 for each taco even though theirs menu said they were $2.19. Finally gave me $10 back but my total should have been $17, not $35. Aside from that, the food was sub par AT BEST. I do not recommend and if you go, check your receipt.

Yelp
Came based on Yelp Reviews. Hands down- amazing birria tacos! It's kinda sketchy because it's attached to a gas station; however, there is seating if u want to eat there or you can take it for carry out. Delicious and authentic!
google avatar

Ben K.

Yelp
Overall this is a great place for tacos. The food is authentic and the service is really solid. These are definitely not the best tacos that I've had but they are very good. Great prices as well. It's in a sketchy place of Denton (actually what part of Denton isn't) and it is attached to a convenience store so you feel like you're in a dirty 7/11. If you're looking romantic ambiance, don't come here but if you're looking for a solid hole in the wall taco joint, you've found a great place
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a Barbacoa taco. Delicious! Ended up with a 1/2 pound and guacamole to add to our low carb tortillas. The green sauce gave it a nice kick.
google avatar

Ilti H.

Yelp
Location and setting: - hole in the wall type place, but in a great way - attached to a convenience store, parking is relatively easy - inside your have a few tables, but not many. It seems like most people take their food to go Food: - authentic Mexican tacos - great sauces - the tortas are HUGE. I'm used to smaller sized ones so got one in addition to tacos. But one alone will fill you up. Advice: - just get the churro. Get it get it get it. Amazing. - order ahead so you can just pick

Cheryl Y.

Yelp
Food is great and so is the service. I would highly recommend this establishment. The length tacos are delish

Yelp
Everything was amazing! The best Mexican food I've had after moving to TX over a year ago.
google avatar

Leslie L.

Yelp
Best tacos in Denton! Quick service and the place is super cute always as clean as possible. Doesn't get more authentic than this always crowded during the weekends. But that's what makes it better seeing everyone enjoying their tacos on the weekends with friends, loved ones and family.

Yelp
Good surprise! Hole in a wall place...food was really good! We bought torta de milanesa, tacos de tripitas and tacos de barbacoa. Was pleasantly surprised with taste! Will definitely go back.
