Chinatown Restaurant Crawl Shows Solidarity Amidst Unfounded Virus Fears | Eater Chicago

"A fast-casual Mexican street-food mini-chain staging a weekend collaboration with a beloved carnitas kitchen in suburban Naperville and Vernon Hills. The special menu includes Tacos Dorados de Carnitas — corn tortillas filled with the partner restaurant’s adored carnitas, crema, and mixed garnishes — plus the partner’s chicharrones paired with the chain’s guacamole. For each plate sold, the chain will donate five school meals through its One Feeds Two program." - Naomi Waxman

Invicto, a new Mexican fast-casual chain from former Naf Naf Grill execs, is opening in Naperville, Vernon Hills, and Chicago | Eater Chicago

"I'm intrigued by a new fast-casual Mexican street food chain called Invicto debuting in early October in suburban Naperville from David Sloan and his half-brother Franklin Wiener. They say the concept will transport customers to a taqueria in Mexico City through on-premises tortillas and immersive decor, positioning it as an upgrade from sterile competitors like Chipotle and Qdoba and prioritizing an Instagram-ready experience. The menu will feature "authentic Tijuana-style tacos" (grilled chicken, carne asada, and taco arabe) plus cemitas, Mexican milkshakes, a Mexican-style poutine, Sonoran hot dogs wrapped in bacon, quesadillas, paletas, margaritas, beer, and an agua fresca bar; the concept used Mexican-born consultant Jonathan Jimenez Alvarado (who worked at Pujol in Mexico City) to help develop the menu. Invicto plans openings in Naperville and Vernon Hills, could expand to about 20 locations, and is still seeking a downtown Chicago site." - Ashok Selvam

Good food! It was a little pricey but it had great variety. All tacos we tried were tasty. Horchata was good too. Music was way too loud. Would definitely come back!

If you’re in the mood for tacos and margaritas….Taqueria Invicto is the place to go. The food is good, and the $3 margaritas are good and strong . The customer service is amazing. If love tacos definitely check them out .

Most hot sauces were good, except pickled onions. I liked the tortillas they used. Quesabirria could use more flavor, but the consume was good. Al Pastor was too sweet. Barely any chips in basket. Margarita was okay, but atleast its only $3 The agua de Jamaica was good. They could use a heated air curtain at the entrance.

Quick service fresh Mexican cuisine. Order at the kiosk or at the counter. Tacos, burritos, Mexican Hot Chicken (choose your level of hot). Plenty of seating and daily fresh salsa bar.

Stopped by on a Friday night. There are only two kiosks at this location, and since it was our first time here, we didn’t get a chance to read through the menu. We had to rush to place our orders because there were people waiting behind us. There are only a few vegetarian options. We ordered the avocado tacos and the pepper and onion taco. The corn tortillas were very thick and undercooked, and the portion size was quite small for the price. The Mexican City Coke had an overpowering coconut flavor, which wasn’t great either. The interior is nice, but overall, it was an average experience. There are much better taco places in the Naperville area.

Fast and delicious! A large variety of fresh sauces with to-go cups. The chips were house-made and perfectly crispy. I ate them all before even opening my burrito (also delicious and VERY filling). EDIT: I went back the next day because my friend said the tacos were really good (they are!), and they were busier than the night before. It was a challenge to find parking in that lot! The staff seemed unconcerned with customers, and often pointed to the single electronic ordering machine -- the other machine was out of order. People were crabby and the wait for food was much longer than the previous night. The chips weren't as good either, but I'd still order them again. Not quite the rave review I gave when they were slow... Maybe I'd go back if it were raining again.

The people here seem very nice, but friends - this is too much money for a taco. This is dystopian. I am just passing through this town and I am so confused. One single taco has the ability to cost $7. SEVEN AMERICAN DOLLARS FOR ONE TACO. Unless the taco is going to tuck me in at night, no. Don't charge that much for a single taco. DON'T DO THAT. That's not... that's not okay. The El Diablo tastes horrible just make your own tacos or hit yourself in the face with a hammer - cheaper and you won't regret it as much WHY DOES THIS MENU EXIST WHAT THE FSGEHJSJSN

Went here for lunch. You are required to order by yourself on a machine and get an order number. They are pretty fast at making the food so there is little to no wait. Food is pretty good, though it was a little too spicy for me so account one level up when looking at the level of spice on the dish you want to order. Not meant to spend a lot of time there and enjoy a meal. Recommend for a quick bite
