The 20 Best Spots In Northeast Philly

"If you’re in the Northeast and the taco urge is imminent, head to Taqueria La Patrona. The tacos are made with handmade flour tortillas, and everything from the consommé-drenched tender meat (birria is our favorite) to the tangy salsas comes together seamlessly for a standout bite. Thanks to the large tables, it’s a great choice for a last minute family dinner. Whatever you do, don’t forget the churros." - candis mclean

Each is well blended with just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelmingly sugary. They're easy to sip or guzzle, whichever your speed. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Al Pastor Tacos These tacos are the answer for anyone who loves a spicy bite with a sweet aftershock. The pineapple chunks are massive enough that you may have to do some searching to find the chunks of pork. But the nicely marinated meat has its shining moment with each tangy chew. Get them. video credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Birria Tacos Cottman and Frankford is where people in the Northeast go after a big sports win. If there were a birria taco to crowd around with the same energy, it would be this one. The beef tastes like slow-cooked TLC, and like all tacos here, they come in orders of three. But since this is the only batch that comes with a savory, oniony consomme, they’re the ones worth lining up for. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Chicken Burrito A decent overstuffed chicken burrito. No fuss, no muss. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Churros Mexico’s classic cinnamon sugary comfort dessert. And this one does not disappoint. They’re light and airy, there’s no residual oil on our hands after gobbling them up, and the chocolate syrup they come with is housemade (instead of tasting like Hershey’s from aisle three)." - Candis R. So a few weeks I found that I had a great new restaurant in my area and let me tell you the food here is incredible. First, I'll start out with. When I opened the door and walked in the restaurant was completely spotless. It was so clean and it had a family atmosphere. It was a Friday night and I was greeted with smiles like I've been there 30 times before the owners. The cooks were so polite it just made it so much more better experience. Okay. And for the food I started off with the traditional burrito that was just amazing. Food is completely all hand made recipes they're nacho supreme was so gigantic. It was enough for two or three people. Prices are right on point. I definitely for living in the area will be there at least once a week

Incredible Mexican Cuisine and Stellar Service! I had the pleasure of dining at taqueria La Patrona, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite transported me straight to Mexico—especially the birria tacos and enchiladas, which were perfectly seasoned. The service was outstanding, with a friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home. The vibrant atmosphere and traditional décor added to the overall charm of the place. Whether you’re craving bold flavors or a cozy ambiance, this spot has it all. I can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend! Five stars well deserved!
