Taqueria La Patrona - Review - Northeast Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"If you’re in the Northeast and the taco urge is imminent, head to Taqueria La Patrona. The tacos are made with handmade flour tortillas, and everything from the consommé-drenched tender meat (birria is our favorite) to the tangy salsas comes together seamlessly for a standout bite. Thanks to the large tables, it’s a great choice for a last minute family dinner. Whatever you do, don’t forget the churros. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO video credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Pause Unmute Food Rundown Agua Fresca They have around five flavors, from tamarind to pineapple, that rotate daily. Each is well blended with just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelmingly sugary. They're easy to sip or guzzle, whichever your speed. PlayMute video credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Al Pastor Tacos These tacos are the answer for anyone who loves a spicy bite with a sweet aftershock. The pineapple chunks are massive enough that you may have to do some searching to find the chunks of pork. But the nicely marinated meat has its shining moment with each tangy chew. Get them. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Birria Tacos Cottman and Frankford is where people in the Northeast go after a big sports win. If there were a birria taco to crowd around with the same energy, it would be this one. The beef tastes like slow-cooked TLC, and like all tacos here, they come in orders of three. But since this is the only batch that comes with a savory, oniony consomme, they’re the ones worth lining up for. No fuss, no muss. photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO Churros Mexico’s classic cinnamon sugary comfort dessert. And this one does not disappoint. They’re light and airy, there’s no residual oil on our hands after gobbling them up, and the chocolate syrup they come with is housemade (instead of tasting like Hershey’s from aisle three). photo credit: NICOLE GUGLIELMO" - Candis R.
