"The pictographic menu at La Placita boasts 20 different tacos, offering specialties and off-cuts such as cecina (salty dried beef), oreja (pig ear), and trompa — labeled in English as pig lip but technically part of the snout — that’s braised until it yields a rich texture not all that different from the fat cap of a ribeye steak. Even late in the afternoon on a weekday, there’s a line for the ordering counter at the expansive taqueria covered in knickknacks that appears to be the epicenter of the “Little Mexico” along Edmonston Road in Hyattsville. Visit La Flor de Puebla bakery next-door for a slice of tres leches cake." - Tierney Plumb, Eater Staff

"A slight detour off Kenilworth Avenue to Edmonston Road takes you to La Placita. Look for the mariachi figurines mounted to the roof. Inside the space moves with the frenetic energy of Mexico City. As you walk in, there’s an elote and horchata station to your right, and a counter to order tacos to your right. There are about a dozen different varieties to chose from. The top three tacos to try are the beef tongue (lengua), tripe (tripa), and pork cheek (cachete de cerdo). Diner be warned: Usually, the line snakes into the parking lot at peak lunch hour." - Tim Ebner

Taqueria Plazita is an absolute gem! Their tacos are hands down the best I’ve ever had bursting with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and always fresh. Whether you’re into carne asada, al pastor, or carnitas, every bite is a masterpiece. And let’s talk about the torta juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! The bread is soft, the fillings are generous, and the combination of flavors is simply unbeatable. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food that hits all the right notes, Taqueria Plazita is the place to go. I can’t recommend it enough!

Google
Love this spot for a quick bite and fresh juice! It is a local favorite for friends and family. They make a fine taco and traditional chicharrón. They have a ton of seating and play good music while serving up plenty of salsa and veggies to top your food :) The staff are smiling and helpful! Gracias chef!

Google
What a huge let down. This place was always my go to place for street tacos in this area of MD for years. They have lost their magic touch. Unfortunately, their quality has gone dramatically down. Their worst offense is that the seasoning is off and most of their food was bland. Our food was delivered cold which was another turn off. No one in my group had anything positive to say about the food given the past high praises this spot recieved for making amazing high quality food that was worthy of being a guilty pleasure. Now that each taco roughly costs $4 dollars and after experiencing some of the worst food I've had in a while, I can no longer recommend this taco spot. Save yourself from a bad experience and go try one of the other local spots.

Google
Best taco spot in town & I mean it! If you have ever wondered what a taco from Mexico taste like this is literally the closest thing you will find. 100% recommend, make sure you try the Caritas one every bite is like a peice of taco heaven.

Google
It's my first time here, the service to start with isn't that good and the cashier who helped me doesn't know how to solve problems (she charged me for a drink and I told her I preferred it in a can but she brought me a bottle and her response was that she had already charged it) and my husband preferred to buy a second drink in a can which wasn't necessary if she gave us back the difference in the cost of the drink she charged us, but from there I knew that her cashier is not fit for customer service. I liked the food but I had to spend 6 minutes looking for the cleanest table outside since at first glance you can see that they don't clean them (the tables still have plates from previous customers). Very bad experience

Google
We just moved to the area..And while we were dropping off our Uhaul we asked where we could get good Tacos and Someone recommended this La Placita! My Wife is from Mexico and said the tacos were delicious! I thought so too! The atmosphere makes you feel like your in Mexico! I honestly cant stop thinking about the place! We will be back! 5 ⭐️’s All Day!

Google
The place was super busy and we had to wait half hour to get our order. It’s also hard to get a table but there are tables outside the restaurant. It’s nice and u can enjoy your tacos in a calm environment. The tacos are great, but they come in two tortilla so it’s a bit much. Just have it with one so that u don’t get full immediately. Also try to eat them quick otherwise they become a little hard. But the taste has plenty of flavor and spice to it. We got the pineapple juice outside, it was very tasty but beware it’s expensive. I would definitely go again. It’s a very nice experience.

Google
This is one of the best taco joints in the DC- Maryland area. I never leave disappointed. Any time I'm in the area, I make sure to visit. After living in Mexico for over 6 years, this place really scratches that itch. It is literally the closest thing that I've found to that long-sought-after street taco experience.

Yelp

Yelp
Too bad i went the week before Cinco de Mayo. I may just go back. In my opinion, these are the best tacos in the area. Food: They focus is on the meat which is seasoned very well, and is the star of the show. They have various meat options. All tacos are served with onion and cilantro. On the side you receive limes radish and cucumbers. The only thing that would make this experience even better would be home made tortillas. We got the following tacos: -Tripa (inner guts) 6.5/10. It's seasoned well and has a smooth texture, but after a few bites i knew what i was eating. -Al pastor (spiced pork) 6/10. Decent flavor but not stand out. -Chorizo (sausage) 7/10. Very solid and safe choice. -Cecina (salt beef) 8/10. I like salty so i liked this but it was very salty. -Cabeza (meat head) 10/10. My friend wanted to try and I'm glad we did. This meat is seasoned well, it has little fatty bits, and is tender. Sooo good. -Lengua (tongue) 10/10z We already know these are our favorite. The meat is just so tender, it melts in your mouth. Though we didn't rate each taco 10/10, all the tacos were tasty and it was so fun to try all the different flavors. Our favorite: lengua (tongue) and cabeza (meat head) We also enjoyed some elote that was good. Nice accompaniment to the tacos. 7/10. Recommendation: ask them so single wrap your tacos. Two tortillas takes away from the flavor of the meat in my opinio Customer service: After you order your food, you can take a seat. When your food is ready, the servers will call out your number (in Spanish so pay attention), and you just wave them down. They bring your food, salsas (green salsa, red salsa, and pickled onions and peppers. They kept checking in us to see if we needed anything. The salsas are delicious. 9/10 Ambiance: this feels like a real authentic experience. They have a tent set up with outdoor seating. You kinda feel like you're in Mexico. I loved it. Overall: I'll be back! 10/10

Yelp
This place is amazing. I don't know if I should call it a hidden gem because it's very busy Friday through Sunday. Food has always been great. I've been going for the last 6 years and the service and flavor is just as good as the first visit.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Holy moly this place is legit. Amazing street tacos. Inside and outside seating. Next to a market and ice cream. Go here. You won't be sad. A minor amount of Spanish will get you far here. Bring cash.

Yelp
Love this place it's One of my favorites places on edmonston Rd The taco's delicious And chicharron yummy

Josie V.

Yelp
I have been coming here for decades this is one of my favorite AUTHENTIC taco spots in the entire DMV, after eating all over the DMV in restaurants and food trucks this is the BEST when it comes to service and quality. My favorite tacos are the chicken and chorizo Tacos I like them well done with extra veggies. I also come here Atleast once's a month to purchase fresh CHICHARON which is made on weekend by noon you'll love the fresh and Crispy taste. At the same location there's a separate store that sells Mexican corn which is my favorite always fresh you can order it with all the toppings or alone. At the same location there's desserts like Mexican jello, fresh squeezed juices, Mexican Candy and much more. During summer there's a section that sell Mexican slushees made to perfection all the flavors & toppings. The restaurant is so affordable that you can bring your entire family, thinking of having parties this is the best spot for that. I order grays of tacos to go. If you live in the area make sure to stop by you won't regret it! Outdoor and indoor seating!!

Gisele M.

Yelp
Great place! You can't be a vegetarian and judge a taquería that serves pork lips and cheeks, and delicious beef tongue - there are other places vegetarians and vegans can choose to go. Their tacos and tortas are the real deal! So truly Mexican, nopales (cactus) and chicharrones - so not Taco Hell... And their homemade sauces are exquisite!

Kevin S.

Yelp
I had heard a lot of wonderful things from this place so I was truly surprised when I came in for the first time . I ordered 3 tacos al pastor and 3 carnitas, the carnitas is good the Al pastor isn't authentic definitely not flavorful not enough seasoning and they give little to none lime for all the orders which is honestly a rip off . I only got two fourths of a lime for all my tacos . Alittle common sense wouldn't hurt . And not to mention the lady's who take your order are tired and want to be there less then you do . I ordered a water 5$ from the lady in front of where you order tacos in the same restaurant is plácita and she denied my dollar coins because she " didn't know what they were " . Yeah well it amazes me to know she doesn't know dollar currency in AMERICA. All in all it was a mid to ok experience I'll give this place a 2 star rating. This might actually be the first place where there ISNT Mexicans cooking the food .

Van H.

Yelp
Decent tacos, but not life changing. I had a rib, steak and a spiced pork taco. They were above average.

Michael N.

Yelp
The authenticity of Taqueria La Placita is undeniable. The fading murals and blaring Mexican TV program are accompanied by generous and delicious taco portions and Mexican sodas are available too. For dessert, complete your authentic meal by driving to the near-by La Neveria Michoacana for authentic Mexican ice cream and horchata.

Azi B.

Yelp
Some of the tastiest Tacos around and reallly authentic atmosphere. Didn't give 5 stars because it was just a tad salty but would highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic experience

Yelp

Stephanie U.

Yelp
Got tacos to go. Parking area is small but turn around time is quick since most people order out. Wanted to really try this place since they had some authentic cuts of meat aside from the usual carne and Al pastor. We ordered beef tongue, intestine, cheek, head meat, and al pastor. My favorite was tongue!

Cat S.

Yelp
I can't think of a place better to satiate a lengthy desire for some legit bomb-dot-com tacos than La Placita. It is out of the way if you're in East MoCo but this is as authentic as it gets before running all the way to Taco Bar in Gburg. And bet, their tacos to-go are just as delectable as their dine-in ones (when that was still permissible), fully loaded with protein and toppings and an extra corn tortilla --for extra bites or really, to keep the juices from pooling together. Rain or shine, they are open for the very unique and amazing task of creating nearly authentic Mexican tacos from those back alley taco stands from the motherland, if you know what I'm talking about. We didn't attempt to call ahead in our broken Spanish, instead we drove there and stood in line to order.

Yelp
OMG I'm gonna miss this place so much lol. For sure, I will try to come here when in the DC area. Man, I was so happy to have enjoyed and come back twice here! We went when it was packed not realizing there was a soccer match between USA & Mexico (USA won! Yay! Sorry) and even though packed, the employees were on it getting through everyone's order quick and ensuring a minimal wait time. With covid and all, there was a long but we only waited roughly 15 mins, so not too bad considering the food came out in less than 5 mins. What is also cool is that if you dine in, they will have a server being your food to you, following you to the table bench of your choice. I really liked the neighborhood vibe of the locals, I felt comfortable and one with the locals lol. Made the experience well worth it and the food more enjoyable. What is unfortunate is that the two times I went, my order was incorrect :'( but I still ate good lmao. The first time I asked for two Tripa Tacos and instead one was with Trompa Taco, but it was good so whatever lol. The second time, I asked for four tacos and only for charged for three :( lol so not much of a complaint but the cashier maybe will need to slow it down in the typing part? Because they repeated what I ordered as they entered it so maybe the POS (looked outdated too) couldn't keep up with the entering fast pace of the employee? The sauces that come with it is very authentic and delicious! You get more bang for your dollar here. I will say that I don't think the tortillas are hand made or authentic but the rest is legit. :) Employees are nice too so be nice and patient. Can't wait to go back and order more tacos!!!

Leo B.

Yelp
The 2 stars is not on the tacos but beware their prices have gone way up! Minimum price for any of their tacos is now $4 dollars! I get it, inflation and supply chain issue along with gas prices, but be warned!

Christine K.

Yelp
How have I lived in DC for five years and never been here?! Why have I wasted so much time not coming here allllll the time? It is so good! The tacos are big, the meat is so flavorful, and they have so many options. I love organ meat, and this spot has every cut of pork you could want. The cachete (cheek) was SO GOOD. The best I've ever had. The lengua (tongue) is amazing. It was very meaty and not super fatty which was great. The habanero onions that come with the table were so addictive and delicious. I was obsessed. This little taco joint is a gem. It's one of those places where you're like - damn, the DMV is pretty legit.

Olivia W.

Yelp
Food was okay! Service was quick and very authentic vibes. Definitely a local spot and easy to order. I got 2 carne asada tacos - meat seemed a little over cooked not too much flavor.

Ronnie T.

Yelp
After hearing awesome remarks and reviews from close friends of mine, I am glad that I gave this place a try! This place had a line reaching out of it, and people were eating outside as well. This sight was a testament to how delicious the food must be! The staff was kind and welcoming, and I would recommend that you speak Spanish, little to no English is spoken by the staff. I ordered tacos de barbacoa, pollo, lengua, and carne asada!!! These tacos were authentic and the real deal! The texture of the meat was perfect, it was both cooked and seasoned to perfection, the salsas were bursting with flavor and spicy, and the tacos were very reasonably priced!!! I felt like I was in Mexico! This place had extremely delicious and quality food! I will definitely be returning again in the future! Check it out! Cheers to good eats everyone!

Yelp
This location is located in the same parking lot at a motel which is not appealing and we hopes the food would make up for it. Unfortunately, the day we went the food was dry. The seating are was overcrowded. The service is subpar at best. The cashier was basically rushing us to make our order and didn't care that it was our first time there. Even when asked questions about the menu she gave a little attitude.

Nina Z.

Yelp
These tacos are delicious. They have a lot of selection to choose from. We've ordered carne asada, pastor a d carnitas. All of them were delicious. They come with the standard cilantro and onions. The salsas (green and red) are spicy and tasty. I'd recommend and will continue to come back.

Kelly R.

Yelp
When we went there it was a madhouse. Yes, I hated the wait (line at that point). The customer service was less than friendly. However, I was not going there to make friends or to find the fastest served meal. We went there to try their tacos, and the tacos, sauce, and rinds were awesome! As a side note, check the review history of some of these folks leaving a less-than-stellar review. Some of them have never left a positive review in their life, always have a problem regardless where they go, or are probably in the market for a free meal.

Yelp
Solid tacos, especially for the DMV. Will I unfairly compare all taco places to my favorite taquerias near where I grew up in southern California? Absolutely. Will I always miss the flavors of home? Yes. But can I find places in the DMV that *remind* me of home by serving tacos con sabor? The answer turns out to be yes, if you know where to look. And Taqueria La Placita is one such place. The parking lot is always full (and parking can be a bit tricky on busy nights) and there is nearly always a line out the door, which means the not only do others find this good, but the food inside is turning over quickly. When it is your turn to order, be mindful of the loud music as well as the fact that kitchens are inherently noisy - the cashier might not be able to hear you well. After ordering, you'll be given a number and can wait off to the side for your tacos. There's another window next to the main door where a woman sells mango and aguas frescas (cash only) - do yourself a favor and get some. Lately, there have been other vendors inside, at the far end of the waiting area, selling elote and other items. As mentioned, the tacos are solid. The lengua, cachete, and nopal are my favorites here. I've sadly been disappointed a few times by the al pastor here - I now mostly avoid it here which is sad because it's my favorite meat. Tacos are just under $4 each, which is par for the DMV. Salsas now come pre-packaged and you might have to request them. The verde is pretty decent. Seating is available outside at the many tables found under the awnings. One of the best things you can do on a warm summer night is get tacos, some jamaica or horchata, and just eat outside late into the night. There are always vendors in the parking lot and very often something fun happening (e.g., music, a light show. One time, i came pre-COVID and there happened to be a large party happening here. We got to the cashier to order and were told that the owner was celebrating: our tacos would be free but they were only serving two or three kinds. They had a cooler full of soft drinks for free, too! That definitely endeared me to this place! The restrooms are in the very back of the waiting area and are just ok, though clean.

Yelp
WTF is wrong w/u DMV yelpers? I'm convinced 96% of y'all don't kno shit abt good quality deliciousness when it comes to food. Y'all put me in a funky ass mood right now, so ur ALL abt catch this rant, and I'm bitch slappin errybody who ever recommended this spot! Grrrrr! jjkn. I'm a lover not a fighter. But truly...wasting $/time/tummy space, does make me very very angry! And I'm right now I'm pissed! like a dummy, I shldv just gone by my rule of ordering only ONE...seeing if their hype is legit...THEN ordering more after eating that 1st one. My hunger clouded my judgment, causing synaptic misfires that made me ignore my own damn rule. Smh Just now, Fri/Nov 12, @5 ish, I stopped in after looking at the reviews, aftr craving some good tacos. They smelled great, had a line out the door, movin busily but w/fluidity, like a well-oiled machine! I expected this to be a good sign.. but nah. SobSob Are any Hispanic DMV area restaurateurs w/ these Taco and Mexican spots even Mexican at all? I'm starting to think they're just regular white folks masquerading as Mexicans, from Kansas or Nebraska corn fields, or anywhere seemingly devoid of flavor, culture, or ethnic food influence. Anywhere the Statewide demographic is overwhelmingly pale and wants every ethnic flavor Americanized and gentrified to suit their dull palates. THAT'S how boring the food tastes here! And it made me want to cry! Maybe only Mexicans from certain regions mk tasty Tacos, and those particular Mexicans never make it farther than the southernmost US, where a lot of the Mexican food is still bomb? I'm tryin hard to give them benefit of the doubt. Dunno WHY so many Hispanic folks, and all kinda folks are lining up outside this place to eat some bland azz tacos? When I want Mexican, specifically tacos, I want FLAVOR packed in every bite. I want savory, juicy, tender-umami-ish meaty morsels... in a warm tortilla, w/ tons of onion, cilantro and cucumber, w/lime and radish on the side. Same way you get them in Mexico,CA,TX...etc. If they have the pickled vinegary veggies...even better and I'm in heaven! When a taco is YUM AF, the salsa makes it pop, and only enhances the flavors of the meat. This didn't happen. One thing I DO credit them for, is a good hefty portion of meat in each taco, and my tortillas were warm and fresh, and seemed homemade. But that's where the good news stops. I ordered 4 Tacos@ roughly 4$ a pop: (all meats were a lackluster 2/5) 2 Carnitas 1 Pastor 1 Asada. After tasting neither carnitas had flavor, seasoning, sear nor caramelization, I could tell they'd rushed the cook on it , just to crank out tacos as fast as possible vs good as possible. I actually got bored eating them, and didn't finish the 2nd half. I took a nibble each from the steak and al pastor, and they were just as bland as too. Everything was so flat, every single meat tasted the same...which is insane! I don't think I've ever had bland al pastor tacos. Pitiful. I ordered the green salsa only, which is normally made w/tomatillos or auguacate (avocado), and typically pretty flavorful...only it wasn't either. All it was, was peppery and hot. The only flavor it had was spicy. Then I req extra lime and cucumber, which she didn't give me, even though she understood exactly what the hell I said! She repeated it back to me in perfect English. To top it off, I hardly had any onion and cilantro either. At that point, I just gave up tryna eat, and said Id just take the rest home, and season it up tmrw for a small lunch. Point is tho... If ur payin somebody else to feed u, this is not some BS anybody shld ever have to do! I'm really starting to hate eating anything in the DMV, cuz the reviews are usually always the same with few exceptions. At this point. I'm only writing this review, to add it to my list of places to AVOID. Hopefully, other equally culinarily discerning patrons will find my review first, and save themselves some trouble. For the record... A couple years ago, I tried La Sirenita up the block, cuz this place was too busy. FYI...they were just as bland and boring as this spot. So I just don't get it.

Evangeline C.

Yelp
Coming from LA, nothing out in the DMV has been comparable, but I quite like this place. The Lengua tacos are my favorite by far. I quite enjoyed their esquite as well. Makes me miss home. I'll definitely frequent this place to get my fix of tacos.

Khoi N.

Yelp
This is as authentic as it gets when it comes to tacos. My friend and I stopped by on a busy weekday. There was a light out the door. Parking was luckily easy to find even with the lot being entirely filled. We ordered the barbacoa, carnitas, pastor, carne asada, cachete, chorizo and lengua. Wow flavors here are on point. Meats were seasoned well, tender and juicy. The way they pack it as well its so efficient. Stuffed in some aluminum foil. When I got home 15 minutes after they were still piping hot. I personally loved the lengua, carnitas, pastor and cachete the most. They packed the most flavor. If you want to indulge and don't mind the calories then go with the pork ones. I'm glad my friend recommended this place as I will definitely be coming back. Expect quick service, authentic Mexican tacos and delicious flavors. Don't be turned away by the long lines this is now my favorite taco spot in the area!

Gina L.

Yelp
Cheap eats! I came with my dad and we overloaded on tacos - I'd say 4 each is a max, 5 if you're ambitious. 12 tacos came to ~$30 My favorite were the carnitas because they had pieces of cartilage to mix up the texture. The al pastor tacos were also really good, well-seasoned meat. Chicharrones were nice and flavorful, but some pieces were a bit hard versus the crunch I was looking for. Sausage was good but a little greasy. Buche (stomache) was a bit greasy and bland for my taste. Carne asade was good but not that seasoned. Order at the counter, and grab a seat (if you can!) - ladies will come out carrying food while calling out a number in Spanish so brush up if you wanna eat.

Jemy V.

Yelp
Worse food I've ever tried! I come from California, and, comparing the food to this Taqueria was awful. The service was horrible and everybody seems like they're in a bad mood. The tacos tasted old, meat no flavor, and the tortillas seemed sticky. The Tamales outside were really dry, too much maza and just overall bad taste. This is not authentic Mexican food so sorry to say. Doesn't deserve any stars

Cynthia M.

Yelp
Hard to find parking but worth the wait. Their food came s always well seasoned and delicious

Jenessa J.

Yelp
These tacos are amaaaaaaaazing. They're authentic, the gala or is spot on, and they are well priced. I drove all the way from southeast to taste these delicious tacos and I would gladly do it again every time I have a craving. Search no more. Better than habanero and a bunch of other places in D.C. You won't be disappointed. My favorite are the lengua (beef tongue) and cachete (pork cheek). They have so much more though. Happy eating!!!

Lia M.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Taqueria La Placita for a while, and am happy to have finally checked it out. The parking lot is tiny, but there are plenty of tables in this small shop, and it's colorfully decorated. Staff is friendly. Our tacos were fantastic, and these are probably my favorite tacos in the region. They were delicious, and the meat is super flavorful. My favorite was probably the al pastor, but all that I tried (carne asada, barbacoa lamb, and al pastor) were great. I was warned against ordering the taquitos and other fried options in the case, as those aren't fresh. So stick to tacos. If I'm nearby and want tacos, I'll be going here.

Mike R.

Yelp
3.25 stars. Very authentic tasting. No question. Front door borders the point of sale - where you order immediately and seat yourself. The server then calls your number and brings your order to your table. She calls out loudly in Spanish, which was kinda different (esp since I had #102 and can only count to maybe 50 in Spanish) as was trying to communicate with any of the rest of the staff who also spoke limited to no English. Was trying to order a side soup with the order and the cashier and cook didn't seem to comprehend when I asked about the specifics of what kind they had. First I heard "beef", then I heard "tripe", then they seemed to both tune me out with some kinda wry smile/smirk. I told them to skip it and just leave my order as is. There was a line so the door was open majority of the time I was there so it was cold/breezy inside. Not the best dining environment. Every guest inside (including us) was still wearing his or her coat, jacket, sweater or hoodie. I'd visit this place again - but for carry-out only. Parking lot is tight too if you get there at lunch like we did. Had a meeting here. I bought the following tacos (2) each for us: Al Pastor Beef Tongue Spicy Pork Carne Asada 8 tacos - $25 2 lime soda pops - $2.75 ea Spent $5.50 on some orange juice too. I couldn't get anyone to clearly articulate what it was or what it cost cuz it looked interesting to me with all the colors in the cooler. Never found out what the pink, green and yellow cups were and wasn't motivated to even attempt another question. If you don't speak Spanish, you might wanna bring an interpreter to adequately enjoy this place. And sit in the back if it's cold outside.

Yelp
Five stars for experience, three stars for food. Tucked away just outside the city in Hyattsville, Taqueria La Placita is in a small strip mall accompanied by a bakery, a bodega, and a flower shop. If you're lucky enough to grab one of the few spots in the small parking lot in front, take it and run inside La Placita because there's bound to be a line that follows. This place is popular and they pack people in here like a can of sardines. It's a very authentic experience. There are beautiful murals on the walls, an open kitchen...the whole thing. If you're an adventurous eater, you'll enjoy the menu of tongue, ears, and other seemingly unusual pork body parts. If you're on the safer end, you have three options- carnitas, barbacoa, and pollo. The tacos come in corn tortillas and are simple. The meat you chose, cucumbers, radish, and cilantro. If you need to spice it up, there are three sauces on each table. You WILL need the sauces as the tacos themselves are very bland. Clearly people like it, but they were not the best tacos in the DMV area. They did have Mexican Coca-Cola in a glass bottle so #winning.

Yelp
If you can deal with long lines and a crowds you will be right at home here. The atmosphere is very chaotic and frenzied. But the locals love it. The parking is three levels of crazy. There is little to no space in front of the restaurant. There is tight parking in the back and a overflow parking level below. It could be dangerous in bad weather. The lines can be extensive but they seemed to move very quickly. In front of the storefront there is a small open air market with all kinds of saints, bracelets and oddities. Once you make it inside to order, you have a wall of pictures to help you make your selection of tacos and dishes. It's the menu. The service was reasonably quick considering the large crowds. There is a outside tented seating space that if you decide to eat in the waitresses will bring your food there. Don't loose your receipt because they call you by your receipt number. The food was interestingly delicious and very authentic. You can order tacos from the rooter to the tooter here and parts unknown. I traveled with a group of five friends and felt very comfortable. I'll likely return and next time be a little more adventurous . My wife really enjoyed the lengua tacos and felt these were the best she has had so far on my week of tacos . The portions were nice and filling, and the sandwich's were large and full of meat! Everyone left satisfied and full.

Yelp
After recently moving here from LA, I've been on a quest. And so far, these are the best tacos I've found in the DMV, and totally worth the drive. Order at the counter, sit (and watch soccer on the big screen) and have your food brought to you. Super cute place with murals covering all walls and families having huge meals. As far as the tacos go: The al pastor here is my favorite, with the pork cheeks a close second and then the carne asada coming in third. Word of warning: You can pay for your food with a credit card, but the woman who makes the respados (and sells them out of the front window) is cash only. And you're going to want a respado... with the condensed milk. And with the tamarinds. Trust me.

Yelp
Very authentic tacos. Small restaurant with seating inside and out. If you don't speak Spanish they have photos and numbers associated with each order item to assist English only speakers. If you love authentic tacos, hurry to this place. Super delicious!

Yelp
Quality has gone done while they keep rising their prices and charging extra just for not using cash.

Yelp

I think the queso and avocado tacos were super delicious and hubby loved the lamb, the chorizo, the carne asada. Next time he is going for the pork cheeks and pork belly. I'll do a corn for me!

Yelp
Good tacos exist only outside D.C. (unless they're homemade) This place is pretty sketch if you're not Hispanic nor speak Spanish but if you want tacos, it don't matter. Be polite, smile, and you'll be aiiiight

Yelp
WTF Maybe I am biased because I spent the last 8 years in Los Angeles where AMAZING, AUTHENTIC Mexican food is available everywhere for a third of the price. I was obviously spoiled. This place is way overpriced and so underwhelming. Despite trying three different types of meat, they all tasted the same- bland. I'd seriously rather go to Taco Bell- quality just as poor but at least it's priced for what you get. And please turn down the music SO loud.

Yelp
One word: Authentic. When you drive by this place it's in a small neighborhood which I though gave off a community-like vibe. I came here on cinco de mayo and the parking lot was packed (note: very small parking lot). The exterior was very cute with statues of people in sombreros on the roof top. On the side, there is outdoor sitting. You can tell it's a very tight community because when I walked by, people were staring at me kind of looking confused as to why I was there. I walked in and you can differently see and feel the culture. There are beautiful paintings on the whole wall that is so colorful and beautiful. It's a small store so the tables are very close together. You order in the front and they give you a receipt with a number in it. I do not speak an ounce of Spanish and I still got away with ordering by saying the number on the menu. Keep in mind the menu is ONLY TACOS. If you don't want tacos, you're at the wrong place, my friend. So the person calls out your number in Spanish which made me panic. However, I showed my receipt to the person handing out the food and I was able to get my order just fine. So the tacos are very basic. There is not much to it besides the choose of meet, onions, and garnish. On the side they give you a wedge lime, some sliced cucumbers, and sliced radishes. The sauce was very limited. On the table there was this green sauce or red sauce. I was disappointed on how there wasn't a selection of toppings to add on to your taco or variety of sauces.

Yelp
The Real Mexican Food I've been eating Mexican Food all over the states and there is nothing like this place Those tacos al pastor are DELICIOUS THANK Y'ALL

Yelp
Thought I'd try their breaded chicken torta again while it's kinda slow. Last time, it was right in the middle of dinner hour. Hence I notice the torta I had from them the first time looked rushed with not enough chicken to bread ratio. This time though cutlet had the right texture almost all over and had the perfect meat to bread ratio. I can now say it's about the closest torta like the ones I had in Mexico City. I think I would just need to be there during non-rush hours to have it that good.

Yelp
The food is authentic, tasty, reasonably priced and transports you to their hometown. Definitely worth the drive even though parking is TIGHT.

Yelp
It's not easy to find authentic street tacos in the part of the country . . . . but here they are. Definately authentic. And they have some of my favorites such as carne asada, carnitas, and of course . . . . al pastor. I haven't worked my way up to the tripe, head meat, and pig lips tacos yet. (I'll leave that to the more adventurous of you out there.) The dining area is very kitsch and fun. I love the murals. There is also outdoor seating. I highly recomend checking it out.
